Really disappointed with my experience at Magic Nails in Oneonta. This was our first time coming here, and right when we walked in we explained that we had never been there before and didn't know the difference between the pedicure packages. Instead of taking a minute to explain anything, the woman at the front just told us to pick a color and walked away. When we sat down and asked again what the differences were, the staff acted like it was funny that we didn't already know. We felt rushed into picking a package, so we ended up choosing the most expensive one thinking it would actually be worth it. Come to find out, it basically included bubbles and lotion by things that should honestly come standard. On top of that, the actual pedicure itself was rushed and super rough. It felt like they were just trying to get us in and out as fast as possible instead of actually taking their time. The whole time they were talking to each other, making eye contact with us, and laughing whenever we asked questions, which made the whole experience really uncomfortable and unprofessional. For the prices they charge, I expected way better customer service and way better quality. Definitely not worth the money, and I won't be coming back. read more

I had an awful experience at this salon. The owner himself did my nails and it took over 2 hours -- for what ended up being the worst set I've ever gotten. I get acrylic which I have been doing for about 5 years now and never had a problem with it. A week after my appointment, I noticed my eyelids becoming red, irritated, itchy, and then they started cracking. I went to my dermatologist and was told it was a reaction to whatever product was used on my nails. To make matters worse, the owner made me feel really uncomfortable during the appointment with strange, off-putting behavior and out of pocket comments. I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. Between the poor quality work, uncomfortable experience, and health issues it caused, it's just not worth it. read more

I visited Magic Nails while on vacation and had a horrible experience. While all of the employees were very friendly, the man (T?) who did my manicure butchered my nails. He cut my cuticles so low that most of my nails were bleeding. He then made them bleed more while buffing them harshly, and to get my old gel off he scraped the nails so hard they became very thin. This was all done while he was watching the tv. My nails wouldn't stop bleeding so they had me get my pedicure done since they couldn't apply polish with all the blood. The lady who did my pedicure actually did a good job. No complaints there! She was then able to put on the polish to my finger nails, but ended up rushing at the end. A few of my fingers had nail polish below my cuticle line. I don't live around here so I won't visit again, but a heads up for others thinking of going here. read more

I had a horrible experience at magic nails. The male nail technician with glasses (assuming he's the manager) was terrible. He rushed my nails (as seen in the photos) and made me bleed twice, just from filing my nails. The color looked like I painted them myself. I was extremely upset. He was extremely rude, shaking his head, and was swearing when he made a mistake. He looked very annoyed that we were there. Not welcoming at all. Thank god for Regina who redid my nails (also pictured). She was a goddess and didn't complain about redoing my nails. I give her 5 stars. But I will never go there again. read more

I went to magic nails to get ANC with a friend who was getting a matching gel polishcolor with me. when we originally asked about prices they told us that a gel polish would be 45 dollars and up and ANC would be 35 and up. the technician doing our nails was extremely rude. she got angry at my friend for changing her mind about her polish and the job was very messy and uneven. the gel polish is uneven and has started chipping after 48 hours and has started to take the nail off along with it. the technician continued to be rude, making comments about my eating, and sarcastically commenting that my eating choices were "healthy" and talked about weight to 16 year olds. My nails were filed uneavenly and the almond shape looked very pointy, not to mention the bumpy ness of my nails. so i had to file them on my own when i was home. the top coat has started to chip and come off. i am extremely unhappy with how we were treated. will not be returning ever. do not go here read more

I am from out of town and needed to get my nails done while on a trip and I loved this place. Very spacious and clean, with a good color option. They only offer regular pedis and manis (no different selections) but they were both really nice and relaxing. The staff was very kind and made great suggestions for what I should get on my nails! read more

I'm in town for the week visiting family and needed a polish change on my toes. I called before I drove 30 mins to magic nails and arrived at 7:10 and they close at 7:30. He had made me bleed! He just going and he rushed leaving most of my nail unshaped and almost half of the top of my nail unpainted, the establishment is also and most definitely not the cleanest at all! The nail files look like they are going to fall apart and I can't get over the fact that any of the tools they use are actually and properly sanitized and cleaned between each and every use/person! I'm completely upset with my experience here time and time again I tried to give them many opportunities and I will be on my way to start doing my own nails. the past few moments and probably at the start of this year it's been horrible and going downhill fast! I don't recommend this place as every time you go in you have to be careful about who's doing your nails! And these are problems we shouldn't have to be dealing with as we pay them so much! The person doing my pedicure was very rough when pushing back my cuticles and caused some pain. When they were using the scrub on my legs they only did the front and not the back. They did the same when they were putting on the lotion. They didn't remove all the cuticles from my toes, and my feet were still rough when they were finished. The entire pedicure took 20 minutes. read more

I went into magic nails with a party of 3 all getting mani pedis. They had 1 of us getting a pedicure, myself getting a manicure, and the last one sitting and waiting. They kept taking new people who walked through the door instead of the person sitting. Then after the pedicure they took another person who had gotten there after us, instead of starting the manicure. Never once aplogized about the wait. I never even got a pedicure because i was so disgusted with their staff's customer service. There are PLENTY of better Nail salons in oneonta to go to. read more
