I live 3+ hours way from most good ski resorts so when I do get to go skiing I normally go to a much bigger mountain. but after hearing such great things about this place, I decided to give it a shot, and I loved it! even with only half the trails open today. I really enjoyed what was available and would like to come back later in the season, when they are 100% open. I also really liked the old school vibe this place had NO condos everywhere NO crazy lift lines NO crazy lift ticket prices or other BS! You go here to ski and that's it reminds me of a mini version of Cannon Mt in NH and bit of Attitash as well I am looking forward to coming back again soon! - Keith!

Magic Mountain is a small, but friendly ski resort. Only one lift was in operation while we were there, but there weren't many skiers, so it wasn't an issue. There are beginner trails, but they aren't really for beginners. I took an hour of private lesson, which wasn't enough to prepare me for the steep mountain. It'd be great if they had a smaller, bunny slope for the newbies (not just the learning slope). The second day, we deemed it too cold to ski. It was a formidable -30 and even though we bought fixed 2-day passes, the owner/manager/guy in charge (could be named Saar?) gave us an extension on our passes so we could return the following day instead. He really did his best to help us and was very accommodating. In addition, Capusine, who works at the ticket office was very kind and understanding. Jim, my ski instructor, was very patient and helpful. Also worth mentioning are Andrew and Sam in the rental shop. Both of them are extremely knowledgable and are excellent assets to the resort. Overall, this resort is great for intermediate and experienced skiers. It's also cheaper than any other resort in Vermont. Trust me, I've done the research. Everyone here is really friendly and accommodating.

Despite peak season, the mid week visitors do not have access to the same features of the resort. Pretty much the entire village was shut down- stores, restaurants, coffee! I am still shocked by how difficult it was to get coffee on this trip. There were no dining options during our stay except for Table 43.1 which I reviewed separately. Dining on the mountain was easier, being able to get food in the lodges. I know lodges can be expensive in general, but Stratton took it to a new level. We paid $20 for a tiny, plain kids cheeseburger which was too awful to eat. Oh and the gondola was broken down so there was no direct lift to the summit. It also was the most hiking I've ever had to do while skiing- lots of flat and up hill parts. We paid a lot of money for an experience that wasn't matched in quality. I also signed my son up for an insanely expensive ski lesson which they started a half hour late due to faulty fire alarms going off in their check in area. Overall we had a great time because we chose to make the most of it and enjoy our family time skiing, but the village was so disappointing and the prices were outrageous. It left a terrible taste in our mouth and we won't be coming back here. There are superior resorts in the same state.

When you drive in to the resort, the Aerial Adventure park is visible right away. When I first saw it, it seemed smaller than I expected and I thought we would be done in a flash. Let me assure you, the aerial adventure course is a LOT more complex than it looks and it was fun and challenging for all of us, from teens to older adults. There are two levels to the course - first you do the lower level and then if you want to try the more challenging higher level you move on to that. Both levels are included in your ticket. Each section of the course is unique: some have zip lines, there are some climbing sections to get from one point to another, some have balance activities, and some rely on strength and ingenuity. Everyone wears a harness, so you are always safe (I did end up dangling a few times and was grateful for the harness!). Staff here is awesome and they train you before you go up into the course. The Mountain Coaster is also fun, although when we went around noon on a summer Friday, we had to wait in line for about 45 minutes to get on. I am a scaredy cat when it comes to roller coasters, but I LOVED the Mountain Coaster, where I go to zip down a mountain surrounded by trees and nature, and I could control the speed. I would love to do this again, but would plan to go earlier in the morning to hopefully avoid the crowds.

They have a food court with quick options, a bar with a more elaborate menu, and an indoor and outdoor fire pit. Their bar/restaurant Perley's is where we had lunch. The resort is owned by the venerable Woodstock Inn, a gem of national distinction. And the upscale air is evident in the friendliness and poise of the staff at Saskadena. A huge lodge with historical pictures everywhere, including memorializing the first motorized life transportation in the US, a 900 foot rope tow built in 1934. Formerly named Suicide Six, the resort centers around a modern yet charming lodge with a huge hearth, a bustling cafeteria, and a well stocked bar. The resort is a scant eight minute ride from the beautiful town of Woodstock, where the Rockefeller and Billings legacy is still visible. Parking at Saskadena Six is not an issue, the parking areas are close to the lodge and a ramp takes the visitor to the lodge area. Saskadena Six has been a part of the Indy Pass for a few years now, and it has become a family favorite. Entering the lodge, one can perform ticket purchases inside or outside. Donning boots and equipment is done in benches and chairs in the lodge, with inside cubicles around the walls. The lodge has plate glass windows on its entire slope facing side, providing beautiful views of the ski area. Once ready to hit the slopes, the nearest lift is the fixed quad that takes the visitor to the 1,200 foot summit. The resort has a 650-foot vertical drop, featuring 24 runs on 100 acres.. Besides the quad, Saskadena sports a double lift on the far side of the resort, and a J-bar. The challenging Show Off run is a steep, mogul filled track, while The Face and Crystal are parallel black diamonds. Several other runs feature both natural, groomed and mogul filled. Saskadena Six usually gets 110 inches of yearly snow, augmented by a vigorous snowmaking system. Dining at Saskadena Six is quick and efficient. A roped off area separates the alcohol-served areas from the rest of the lodge. Several local brews are on tap, as well as national selections. Skiing Saskadena is a pleasure. Small but quite pleasant, devoid of the stress of the larger ski areas in New England. Its history and charm are welcome assets in an industry where sterility seems to be popular. Terrain is rated 30% beginner, 40% intermediate and 30% advanced.

The day we were there, it was pretty empty, and we were able to lap that area over and over again with no real lift line. There is a particular kind of joy in skiing 10 to 20 uninterrupted laps when the sun is out, the snow is holding up, and nobody is making you fight for space. Compared with the massive resorts out west, Okemo is obviously a different kind of mountain. Still, the terrain volume felt excellent for Vermont, especially because the trails were well kept, accessible, and easy to keep moving through. The whole place felt comfortable without being sleepy, polished without being sterile, and family-friendly without losing the actual fun of skiing. Ludlow and the surrounding area also add a lot to the experience. It has enough Vermont charm and alpine presence to make you feel genuinely away from New York, the tri-state area, or any other Northeast city you might be escaping from for the weekend. This is my first time on an alpine slide and I am older and the two people on 2 chairs ahead of me pushed through the opening to get on the lift and I was with my 12-year-old grandson and that's what I thought you were supposed to do so I did that because 2 othe chairs had done pushed the little gate through. The lift operator allowed them to do that without stopping them or saying anything to them. When we did it, unknowingly, and we have plenty of time to get on the ride and we're on the line to sit on the left, he made a spectacle out of us and stopped the ride and made us turn around and go back around to the little green gate thing even though we are already at the line and had plenty of time to get on the next lift chair. He did not do that with the first two people that did it, however he did it with us. We're standing at the line to sit, he shuts the ride down with all the people on it to make a spectacle out of us and prove a point. He makes us walk around to the beginning gate and says he's skipping every third chair. Then when we get on the ride and I look back, he didn't skip any chair or 3rd chair and everybody was getting on every chair. And then we went on at one more time and he again stared us down and skipped a chair before putting us on the lift and had kind of a smirk on his face. I was apologetic the first time but then seeing that he wasn't putting people on every third chair, I knew he was just being a little jerk about it. And then he remembered us the second time too and made sure that I felt uncomfortable then as well. So he made us uncomfortable the first time by making a spectacle out of us, stopping the lift making us go back and start a new at the gate even though we're already at the line and had plenty of time to get on the chairlift and then also the second time making us feel uncomfortable. The date that we went was August 5th and it was thr exact guy/ teenager that puts you in the seat. That was fully and wholly disappointing and made both my grandson and I feel completely uncomfortable which was what he wanted to do for some reason. You might want to speak with him. Disappointed
