So I've been dragged by my hair to horseback riding lessons for the better part of a year. Recently…read morebought land with my lady so that she can own her first horse and we took the lessons together so that we would be able to care for and at least have some concept of how to ride well. This ranch, the people & the experience they offer was the best equine experience I have ever had. We rode for an hour and a half through woods, fields and horses out to pasture... The whole time engaged in conversation about the ranch, donkey basketball and my beloved Boston Bruins. Our guide was the owner's daughter who has stories about every horse & can tell you about the land & growing up on a ranch. I could say more, but I'll leave it there. Before this experience, I was just going through the motions to learn how to help care for a horse because frankly, I'm about to be put into a situation where I have to. Trotting and cantering through the woods and fields, losing my glasses... It was awesome. Now I know why people ride horses. Great time!

Lots of rocks and roots on the ground so make sure to have good shoes. Crosses few small streams nothing crazy. Overall relatively straightforward trail. Once you reach the end you get to see the fall from 2 angles. One from below and one from above. Overall i enjoyed the hike.

Table Rock faces the Bellows Falls are from New Hampshire, just across the Connecticut River. We're in our 60s and needed to stop a few times on the way up, but it was never too steep or treacherous, just a long steady hike. You want bring good hiking shoes with serious treads. No fees. Dogs allowed.

Phenomenal trail!! Definitely in my top 5 fave hikes - especially for the fall colors (my visit was…read morein early October)!! And it's a killer workout too! The view from the top is breathtaking- but not for the faint of heart - I have a fear of heights and it took me a while to work up the nerve to go sit on the edge lol! AllTrails has this trail labeled as "moderate" - but it was insanely muddy and very wet when I hiked it - took me ages and totally wore me out - so in those conditions I'd call it moderate-hard. And also with the rock scrambling at the top - it can be quite difficult. Very steep and especially narrow at the top - can be dangerous if you're not careful. I did a total of 2 miles round trip - it's an out and back trail. In those 2 miles, my tracker showed an 800 foot elevation gain so it's definitely a butt burner. And along the trail there are numerous areas of rock scrambling (some are very steep) and stream crossings during the wet season - get ready to be covered in mud lol! You will definitely need decent hiking shoes - and poles would've been so helpful I think! There were quite a few other hikers around. The trails are very well marked with colorful tree badges - but in some spots between the markers, I needed my trail map bc the ground was covered in leaves and mud and it wasn't as obvious. Once you get to the top of Table Rock, the stunning view will absolutely take your breath away! It's a sweeping vista of the entire forest area with the lake and resort below to the left and the long stretch of road through the park to the right - perfect for taking in all the colorful autumn splendor!! The top is a long, very narrow and flat tableau. It seems pretty stable - but has extremely steep (and deadly!) drop offs either side and no safety rails or fencing or anything so be aware. Drones aren't allowed in the park (according to the State Park website) but someone was flying one and buzzing us closely at the top which made it very distracting and scary unfortunately. Dogs are allowed - there were many on the trail and at the top. Parking is a small dirt lot pull out on the side of the road at the trailhead - Google maps took me right to it (just put in Table Rock Trailhead). It's located in Dixville Notch State Park (you can see my review of that for more detailed info). The park doesn't have bathrooms that I could find. And I think it's free. I didn't see any fee areas and their website doesn't list it as a fee area.

You have to go into the gift shop and exchange your money for a token that gets you passed the gate and onto the toll road. The drive up was not bad. Coming down is a lot but i have that awesome button that has the car going down the hill so once we figured that out it was smooth coasting at 15 mph the whole way down. Its beautiful once you get to the summit. There are picnic tables so bring lunch or a snack to relax and take it all in. There are bathrooms and a small gift shop. There is a meditation/prayer room and lots of history to read about. Would love to come back in the fall!!

She paired me with a horse that relates with my energy and skill level aka how good of a rider I am. Mel was confident in me, which made me confident in myself! I used to ride as a kid but I'm almost 30 years old, it's been a while. The two hour ride was absolutely perfect. The horses are so chill. They are great listeners and follow the pack! You don't have to worry about a horse going in a different direction because they seamlessly follow one another! It's truly such a wonderful experience. I recommend making a reservation over the phone and going asap because there's nothing better than being in nature, w/ friends, and horses on a gorgeous day in Vermont. We met Deb at the end, she was great to meet! Love her home, horses, and appreciate her business so much. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you!

Though we made every attempt to arrive before dark, it wasn't in the cards for us on this trip…read more The office had already closed and we weren't sure what to do. The porch light was on at the office, so that's where we walked. Attached to the door was a map indicating how to get to our site - YAY! We followed that (nervously, as that hill is surprisingly steep) with my husband asking "are you SURE?". We made it easily and safely, set-up and enjoyed our first evening. The next two days (Labor Day weekend) were fun-filled as we travelled with not only our young children, but our adult children booked a tent site right across from us! We learned that the owners just purchased the campground this year and they have been working to get it running better, cleaning up and upgrading. Well, call me surprised! I thought it was quite nice the way it was. We were near one of the playgrounds, perfect for the little ones. My husband and I walked around and met a few seasonal folks, very nice people! On our walk we stumbled upon the fairy village, nice little feature. My 7 year old enjoyed that a lot. It was a touch chilly so even though the pool was open, only the youngest kids were interested in jumping in. ;) There were some activities for the kids, they enjoyed making slime. Most of the time we just sat by the campfire chatting, playing games. Great memories and we know we will be doing it again. At one point my husband took the little ones to buy ice cream and was a little short on cash. The owners said don't worry about it, enjoy the ice cream. He even went back later with the difference and they refused. Top-notch people!! I almost forgot! We booked online and have a Good Sam membership, but did not see an option to apply a discount. We later received an email reminding us to come to the office for our refund. We highly recommend this campground and look forward to future trips here.
