We had a good experience with the Monorail System during our recent trip to Disney World. We took the monorail from Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and then transferred to the EPCOT line to get to EPCOT. We had no issues. The Magic Kingdom Monorail Station is located just outside the entrance to Magic Kingdom. You can't miss it. I think the 12 Mark VI (Mk6) monorail trains look cool. They're sort of retro-futuristic, at least for the time they were rolled out (1989-1991). Interesting Fact: While they look identical, Monorail Peach (which joined the fleet in 2011) has a unique history. It was constructed using the undamaged center cars from the retired Pink and Purple trains following an accident in 2009, with two brand-new cabs built to finish it off. Because it was "reborn" from the parts of two other trains, many Disney fans have nicknamed it the "Phoenix" train. If you want to see if you're on the "Phoenix," look for the peach-colored stripe. As of April 2024, it also features new black deltas (the small triangular accents on the stripe) and a completely refurbished interior with updated black flooring and fresh seat padding. It's one of the sharpest-looking trains in the 2026 fleet. In general, I found the trains to be on time, clean, quiet, and comfortable. The stations were well-marked, and the guest flow was handled efficiently by staff. Finally, the Cast Members who operated the trains and manned the stations were polite and courteous. The Pilots even wave at you as the trains enter the stations. All of this is what you expect from Disney (high standards). Tip: If you're heading to EPCOT, try to get a window seat. The EPCOT line does a full loop around Spaceship Earth and the World Celebration area before pulling into the station. It's a nice elevated view of the park's new gardens and architecture that were completed in 2024. read more

Seeing the monorail gliding high in the sky just makes me feel so good! The Magic Kingdom Monorail is one of those quintessential Disney experiences that makes you feel like you're really at Walt Disney World. It's not just transportation, it's part of the magic. The sleek, futuristic trains gliding around Seven Seas Lagoon have been an icon of the park since day one, and riding it still feels special no matter how many times you've done it. The system connects the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, the TTC and its massive parking lot, and the deluxe MK resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian), so it's both incredibly convenient and scenic. There's something so relaxing about sitting by the window, hearing that familiar "Please stand clear of the doors" announcement, and watching the park slowly come into view. Riding through the Contemporary Resort (literally through the building) is still one of the coolest moments at Disney. I'll never tire of that as long as I live. That said, the monorail isn't perfect. It's showing its age a bit, with occasional breakdowns and crowded trains, especially around park opening and closing. If you're visiting during peak hours, you might find yourself packed in like a sardine with a stroller pressed against your leg. And in the rainy and humid summer months, the Florida "swamp stink" is real: that unmistakable smell of wet dog, body odor, and dirty sweat. When it's running smoothly, though, the Monorail is unbeatable. It's relatively fast, air-conditioned, and offers some of the best views of the parks and resorts you can get. I sometimes like riding the long loop from the TTC all the way to Epcot and back. It's not that the roadside and woodsy views are all that great, but it's just fun to glide through the park on your way to the station! I feel like the monorail is a must-do for regulars and a Disney rite of passage. It's retro to be sure, but it's so much more than a simple means of transportation. read more

I had a marvelous time taking my family to Disney. Parking was easy and simple. Tram picked us up immediately after parking in the hooks designated area. They allowed us to park in the first row since my mom left her placard for handicap. Afterwards the tram took us to the monorail drop off. Then we walked hand and hand until we got up top. They provided us with a wheelchair to assist with my mom. I definitely got a workout in. We enjoyed our entire time. They were out of ecv and we join the waitlist. It was one available within 4 hours eventhough we were 24th in line. The chicken sandwich at the launching pad was fresh and delicious. Dinner we ate at the crystal palace with pooh and his friendly characters. The food was really good. I recommend for sure. See you soon disney. The monorail takes me through memory lane where I go back to 1973. My mom brought me here for summer vacation and we stayed at the Polynesian resort. Back then, it was a limited ride from the hotel to the park. Now they have a transfer center. Wouldn't it be great if they could add more tracks and destination? Maybe time will tell. read more

The Magic Kingdom Monorail is a part of the Walt Disney Resort Transportation. When you park at the Transportation and Ticket Center, you can take the Magic Kingdom Monorail to the theme park. The Walt Disney World Monorail system does have a variety of stops with round-trip express services. One of the Walt Disney World trips my family and I had, we ended up staying at the Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. The Magic Kingdom Monorail would stop by this resort, pick us up, and then take us to the Magic Kingdom theme park! There are a variety of other stops too with the Magic Kingdom Monorail Disney's Contemporary Resort Disney's Grand Floridian Resort It's round trip, so it will bring you back to the Transportation and Ticket center if you parked your vehicle there. If you're staying at one of the resorts on the Magic Kingdom Monorail route, you can take the monorail back to the hotel. I enjoyed taking the Magic Kingdom Monorail. It's nice to sit down and enjoy the ride. You get to see all of the beautiful scenery on your way to the theme park. It can get relatively busy after the fireworks though! read more

Depending on time it's a pretty quick moving line, but when it's hot out it marks it harder to wait....for me anyway. Once on it's a quick ride to the ticket booths. Magic Kingdom monorail is located right at the entrance of the park, so it literally takes you from resort door to park door and is extremely efficient! It drops you out to the "left" of the entrance vs. parking/the buses have you coming up to Magic Kingdom from the "right," so you don't get caught up in the rest of the traffic entering the park and can typically get in a shorter lane towards the left side. The monorail itself could benefit from better ventilation. Oftentimes, the pods you step into have all sorts of sweaty smells haha. They're pretty enclosed, but still kind of hot in them, so maybe inject better A/C into them or something, especially given how hot Florida weather is year round! Otherwise, the monorail is great. You're never on it for long, it goes in a circle around Magic Kingdom and all the nearby Disney resorts and even though we weren't staying at one of these resorts, we took the monorail to cycle through and check out every single one of the hotels because they have quite a bit to offer even for the people who don't stay there! The Magic Kingdom Monorail is usually the fastest way to get to the Magic Kingdom, EXCEPT when it breaks down or there are train delays. The latter I could never figure out because I can't see another one in sight anytime I see one sitting or am stuck on one. The Magic Kingdom actually has two monorail lines. The first one is the express one used from the ticket and transportation center which rides through the Contemporary resort and only stops at the Magic Kingdom. A recorded voice welcomes you and tells you about the sites and resorts you see along the way. When heading back to the ticket and transportation center it bypasses the Grand Floridian resort, Disney's wedding chapel, and the Polynesian resort. This is the one most people use if they are parking their car at the theme park. The other one is the resort monorail and runs in the opposite direction of the express monorail. This one makes all the stops at all the resorts on the line including the ticket and transportation center and gives you a way to visit or return to these resorts if you are staying there. Disney staff guide you as to where to board and normally the trains fill up quickly and there may be standing room only. The monorail is decked out for Disney's 50th anniversary and is a welcome sign for families. Normally you can be at the theme park in about 10 minutes. On one occasion my husband and I was headed back to the Polynesian Resort so we took the local monorail. There were delays announced while we sat at the Magic Kingdom station and then when we started moving had a couple more train delays while we were on the track or at the Contemporary resort. That whole trip alone took a good 30 minutes! Disney does have other options to get you to the front of the Magic Kingdom without having to use the monorail Ferry boats head directly to the park from the ticket and transportation. The Walt Disney World bus transportation is still free to all guests and will take you from the various resorts to the park entrance. Finally the recently restored Minnie Van service will drop you off there as well. Though these other means have advantages each of them comes with its own drawbacks. Still the monorail is the preferred method of transportation to the park and the ticket and transportation center also has a connecting monorail that will take you to EPCOT center. read more

Then your board a tram. After the tram drops you off you pass through reasonable security and then board either a boat or the tram to ride to the Kingdom via contemporary resort and seeing Chef Mickey. Magic Kingdom Monorail - Feel safe - Public Transportation Near Me - Orlando, Florida

This is the MK Monorail. It doesn't take you to the monorail resorts, and it doesn't take you to Epcot. This monorail runs back and forth from the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Centre) and the MK. It goes nowhere else. If you find yourself at the TTC, whether you've parked there or your coming from Epcot, and you want to get to the Magic Kingdom, this is the monorail you'll take. You also have have the option of taking the ferry to MK. Now here's where I'm going to give you a couple of tips: * If you're at TTC and the line for this particular monorail is really, really long, then walk over to the Resort Monorail. The line will be much, much shorter.... there may not even be a line at all. Trust me. By taking this monorail, it's not a non-stop trip over to MK, you will stop at 3 of the 4 resorts on "the loop" to get to the MK, but it's still much, much faster than waiting in a line that's coming all the way down the ramp. *The MK Monorail at night. Oh boy. If you are staying at the Park and waiting to leave until the part closes, you're going to have one helluva wait to get on this monorail (possibly 30 minutes or longer), and when you do finally board, you'll going to be packed in like sardines. Take the ferry! Better advice would be to leave about an hour before the Park closes. Yes, you may miss the fireworks, but if you've seen the before, it may not be worth the wait that late at night for the monorail. One more tip that has nothing to do with the monorail. A lot of people leave MK and want to head to Downtown Disney (excuse me, Disney Springs.... I refuse to call it that *insert eyeroll*). The buses at MK will not take you to Downtown Disney.... they only go to other Parks and the Resorts. So what do you do? It's only about a 5-10 minute walk to The Contemporary Resort from MK. Walk there and hop a bus to Downtown Disney. You're welcome. =) read more

I wish it moved a little faster, but it gets the job done. Magic Kingdom is my least favorite park to go to, because you have to take some sort of transportation to get from the parking lot to the park - either monorail or ferry. It easily can add over 15 minutes to the time it takes to get to the park and every second counts when you have a toddler. In the morning, when we got there at 9 a.m. the monorail was running pretty consistently and even though there was a line down the ramp, we got on the tram pretty quickly. On our way back at around 2 p.m. we watched a monorail sit at the station for 5-10 minutes as the recording said we were waiting on traffic (I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it) and then when we got on the monorail we ended up with the same message and had to stand and wait. Again, waiting is torturous with a toddler that just wants to be out and about. That's why I was so cognizant of waiting times. However, if you are an adult or you have children that are better behaved, it's not that bad. The cars are pretty large, you can fit 4-6 people on each bench (depending on the mix of adults and kids) and quite a few can stand. You can also fit at least two strollers in each car. You will be pretty crammed during the ride during peak times, but luckily most people are friendly. You are going (or came from) the happiest place on earth, you should be smiling at least a little. The monorail is still better than the ferry IMO. Yes, the ferry is fun and definitely something to do once, but it takes more time to get to the park even if the line is shorter. If your main objective is to get to the park as quickly as possible, take the monorail even if the line looks longer. I also enjoy going through the resorts on the trip. It makes me think one day we will stay at one of these resorts! read more

Better than the NYC subway system. Leaving Magic Kingdom to make that long trek to the parking lot, we opted to use this for the way back to try it out since we already took the ferry in the morning. I can't comment on wait times, since as soon as we got to the track, the monorail was already there. It was crowded, but we just stood by the doors to watch the views anyway. There are seats in each car - facing each other with some room for a few more to stand. The ride itself was short, but fast enough. I would imagine much better than taking the buses. We got to pass one of the resorts to see what we're missing - though my wallet liked staying off site. The air conditioning inside the car was also nice and welcomed. I won't pretend to know how the Disney transit system in Disney World works fully, but I do know that if you have a park hopper and you want to go back and forth from Epcot to Magic Kingdom, this would be the ideal way to do it. Also going from the parking lot to Magic Kingdom and back is faster than the ferry. I will be using this again since I will be going back to Magic Kingdom and won't really have too much of a choice regardless. read more

So I have a love/hate relationship with there monorails. I love the iconic vibe and nostalgia they offer. They're also a super quick way to get around... Usually. What I don't love is when they limit the number running, you end up on a car with no a/c, or they aren't working at all. Magic Kingdom is there only park you have to park and then take Disney transport to get to. Your options are ferry boat or monorail. The ferry offers scenic views but the monorail is much faster. Like ten minutes or more faster. As pass holders we go a lot. Like twice a month at least. So we prefer fast. Our last few trips have seen the monorail running ungodly slow or not at all. The times it was working it was sweltering hot in the car and of course packed in with people cause of the limited cars running. I'll still love my monorail though cause it always takes me to Disney. :) Overall: B Fast but not always the best. read more

My family of 8 very much enjoyed the monorail. It allowed us to have a beautiful view of the parks while traveling between them. Staff was very friendly and helpful with navigational questions and assisting us with our disability needs. The monorail appeared to be well maintained and clean. I can easily quote it using the exact cadence - the monorail system is my transit of choice when visiting Disney. These trains are getting old and are overdue for some maintenance and updating, but I just can't imagine how crazy transit will be for the years that they are out of commission. I'm sure the day will come and I will complain every visit- but it is definitely about that time. The resort line makes a loop around the Magic Kingdom resort area, starting at the TTC and stopping at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, and back to the TTC. There is also an express line that just goes between TTC and MK. Have some patience if you are riding when the Park closes after the fireworks. If you have a big group, it might be smarter to split up into smaller groups of 3-4 instead of trying to find a car with room for all 6+ of you, strollers, wheelchairs, and whatever else. My monorail tip is to always go to one of the last cars so you have a little extra standing room. Be kind to the people around you and don't forget to wear your deodorant. If you have kids- convince them that this is just a really fun ride- they will be dazzled. I've heard several kids wanting to "ride again!" read more

Horrible! Do not buy Disney genie! Complete BS and you need to be on your phone the whole day booking your ride times. And most of the times the popular rides were sold out by the time we wanted to ride. A complete waste of money! I will never go back to Disney again! I have never really had a bad experience on the monorail. To be kinda honest I am one of those people who kind wishes something on the Monorail would break down or a door would open midway to MK just so I could document it and put it on social media and get instant fame... But no, its always been a smooth ride and one that is enjoyable. The monorail has three tracks. One Monorail that runs from the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC for short), the second track runs from the Magic Kingdom to different hotels (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary), and the third runs from Epcot to the Transportation and Ticket Center at Magic Kingdom. They call the Monorail the Highway in the sky. The top speed for the Disney monorail system is 45 MPH and you will only go that speed if you take the Monorail from Epcot to TTC. The Monorail for sure needs some major improvements. But it is a great way of getting to and from these different areas. The Monorail used to be much better when you could be an honorary driver, but since people have died, they no longer allow that. Overall I for sure recommend the Disney Monorail system. read more

There was nothing magical about Disneys Magic Kingdom Monorail. In fact, I believe the term "monorail" comes from Disney Railing it's attendees right in the behind. It was a youthful sunny day this past weekend, as myself and my best friends were taking the rail from epcot to magic kingdom for the world renown, once in a lifetime, spectacular firework show. One moment I was sitting down, enjoying a chicken teriyaki from Tokyo all the way in epcot. Then - it was a blur. Let me back track.. Due to Disney's lack of in park transportation, I unofficially recorded the fastest 1000m spring of any human - just to get to the rail on time. Once aboard, the smell of dirty diaper fumes clogged my nose. But, alas, we had made it just in time to make the fireworks at the kingdom. All was fine - smooth sailing, children laughing, cruising along the monorail at such a speed we would make the firework display just in time. For once this weekend, I felt happy. Then... *screeeeech*. Gasps flood the area, and confusion spills into the air. What happened? Disneys magic monorail was magic no more - for it had stopped dead in it's tracks, with a mere inch of sight of the fireworks. We were held hostage inside the rail for the entirety of the fireworks display, at which point, was far too late. The damage, had been done. Kids were crying, people were limping, & the worst of it all, the fireworks were no longer fire working. Suddenly, there was a display. A display of crushed dreams, and a trail of dispare. read more

When you are at Disney World, you pretty much cannot miss going on the monorail at least once. Staying at one of the hotels on the Seven Seas Lagoon? It is the primary way to get to the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. Driving in to the Magic Kingdom? Monorail or the big ferry. Doing both parks in a single day? Monorail. With that in mind, it is no surprise that Disney has ensured that the monorail runs pretty much all the time in order to shuttle guests around. With the capacity of a couple of buses every couple of minutes, it does the job nicely. This time around at Disney I managed to ride on monorail gold (you can tell which one you are on by the color of the stripe on the side) a couple of times for some reason. It just worked out that way. You can see quite a bit from the monorail, including the luau at the Polynesian, the wedding pavilion, and the old runway that used to have small flights come in and out of the park (it hasn't been used for flights since the 1980's when the EPCOT extension of the monorail was built. The runway also features a set of grooves that make it sing when driven over at 45 mph, playing "When You Wish Upon a Star") Anyway, my rides on the monorail were good. I enjoy my time on the monorail, because I have memories dating back to the 80's of some good times while on it.
