Waffle cone
Cathi C.

Plenty of parking . It is Cash or Venmo only - just for a heads up. A great variety and they truly pack their sundaes! We really enjoyed coming here- the ice cream is very creamy. We had more than enough between two little girls and two adults, we got a waffle cone and a sundae and packed the waffle cone in a cup and brought home. Even though it rained outside shortly before going and the tables were wet, we sat on the brick wall and still enjoyed the ice cream. Highly recommend and decently priced!

Mint Oreo and Cookie Monster in a cookie cone

Really enjoyed the selection of ice creams and cones at Magic Fountain. Was understandably very crowded when we went, will definitely need to go back to try out the different flavors. The ice cream was creamy and just overall delicious. The prices were not super high which was great and loved that I could pay by Venmo. There was also quite a bit of outdoor seating which was nice. Give this place a try!

Medium Cup - Peach, Mint Oreo, and Rainbow Sherbet (at the bottom)

I heard lots of great things about this place from some of my friends, so I decided to come and check it out. The location is outdoors, but there is a solid amount of tables and seats. The staff was super friendly and do their best to be as efficient as possible. I ordered a medium cup with rainbow sherbet, peach, and mint oreo. I thought the ice cream was quite average. I didn't think anything about the ice cream popped out at me. It was like any hard ice cream I tried at other places, but definitely at a cheaper price. I got a medium for $4 which includes tax. At other places, a small can go up to $5 -- so I like how this place isn't too expensive. I was able to share a medium with my boyfriend and feel satisfied at the end with the amount I ate. I will be back here for ice cream because it is a lot cheaper than the other ice cream places I have been to. Also, this place only takes cash -- so don't forget to bring cash.

BEST ice cream place. Magic Blends are the best. Visit it once a week, in the summer.

Great service. Excellent soft ice cream I've had ice cream in a lot of places and MF has got them all beat.

Great ice cream but the portions are chintzy! Now we go to Scoops in Chatham where the ice cream is fantastic and portions are generous.

Magic Fountain is the only place in the area that still knows how to make a good real milkshake!

Zita’s Homemade Ice Cream

Zita’s Homemade Ice Cream

Ice cream can never be part of any serious diet (mine ebbs and flows), but like the chronic…read morealcoholic who yells out, "I don't want to live anymore!" when initially told in treatment that he can't have another drink, ever again...well, I can't imagine life without ice cream, at least once in a while. I try to keep my consumption of it down to once a month. For the most part, I'm successful. There's a whole story behind Zita's. It was started in 2000 and named after Grandmother Zita Elefante. I've passed this place countless times, but I've never been a regular patron, although that's changing. I'm pretty certain that my ice cream jones will be with me until the day I die, and Zita's is close by. In recent years, I've divided my ice cream consumption between 2 places, (maybe 3), for the most part. The Polar Ice Cream stand on Rt. 22 in Whitehouse is very good. Unfortunately, it's closed in the winter (do people not eat ice cream in the winter? I know this addict does). And if you park at Polar at the wrong time of day in the summer, you'll be subjected to a very long line and suddenly extremely limited parking. There's also Gronsky's Milk House in High Bridge. Nice store that serves other things besides ice cream (1 day I'll have to sit down there and order a meal). During the initial days of Covid, when I was driving all over this part of NJ to do my food (and toilet paper) shopping, I'd often stop here on my way home for a milk shake. Oftentimes, that was my "main meal" of the day. Great milk shake! Unfortunately, I'm not out in High Bridge all that much anymore, and I continue craving ice cream in the winter, when Polar in Whitehouse is closed. I've occasionally patronized the Penguin Ice Cream store in Bernardsville, but their hours are haphazard, and parking is hard to come by. So, I've been stopping by Zita's with increasing frequency. There's ample parking in back, a porch on the side for those who wish to sit outside in the fresh air, and within the store itself, service is fast, efficient and... generally speaking...friendly. A few months ago, I stopped in for a vanilla milk shake. The main guy there, perhaps the owner, was doing some major renovative work but he dropped what he was doing to serve me. When I indicated I wanted hard ice cream in the shake rather than soft, he seemed a bit put out (or that could have just been my overactive imagination), but I got the shake quickly, and it was delicious. Today, I stopped in for an ice cream cone. There were some exotic flavors available, which I'm not necessarily averse to (I'm capable of being as experimental as anybody when it comes to food; my only concerns are how it might affect my increasingly delicate digestion), but when push comes to shove, I'm essentially a purist. I didn't see it being offered in the bins up front, so I asked the pleasant young woman serving me if they had chocolate chip. They did. I was asked which type of cone I wanted. I wanted the standard sugar cone with 2 scoops. Prices seemed fair, and I was happy to leave a tip in the customary tip jar. I've sometimes had problems with the tip jar, which seems ubiquitous wherever you go these days, whether you're in a 7-11, a Dunkins, Starbucks, McDonald's, etc. (I can never get the discussion about "tip etiquette" between Steve Buscemi and Harvey Keitel in "Reservoir Dogs" out of my head anytime I'm faced with a tip jar). This time? Didn't bother me. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. I got 2 huge scoops balanced on the sturdy cone, with a presumably hygienic paper wrapped around the base to satisfy the germ paranoia of mind-crippled neurotics like yours truly! I tipped with pleasure. Perhaps my diet IS working, because getting through those 2 huge scoops required a tremendous (albeit delightful) effort on my part. My days of drunk/opioid-dazed driving are long, long behind me (thank whatever God or Gods might exist for my continued sobriety!), but on this occasion, I was driving with 1 hand on the wheel while licking frenetically at the ice cream cone to keep the ice cream from melting all over me in the summer heat. I succeeded for the most part, but maybe next time I should eat it while parked, or while sitting at the patio next door. I was sober, of course, but not necessarily driving safe. In other words, don't follow my bad example. Don't drive while eating ice cream. Get a designated driver to transport you, or...better yet...eat in in your parked car, or at the convenient patio located on the side of the store. Bottom line? Great place, great ice cream.

Food: really enjoyed the apple crumble ice cream I got which appears the be seasonal. A lot of flavor offerings, but watch out as many of them have nuts in them! Service: standard service from an ice cream parlor Ambiance: I really liked the outdoor seating and the small back room is nice, I assume the line is out of the door in the winter because the line was short.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon with my family as we explored more of Downtown Westfield. There…read moreis street parking and designated lots dotted around. We just found a parking lot and parked. There are some tables and chairs in the front part of the shop so you can stay and enjoy as well as two benches outside if the weather is cooperative. The place is located on a side street and is pretty easy to find. They have a steady stream of customers coming in and out and they specialize in ice cream and cookies. They also have brownies as well. You can get them as ice cream sandwiches, an open faced cookie with ice cream on top (same with brownie), or just ice cream. There might be more I missed but I was preoccupied because one of my kids has multiple food allergies so we went in with not very high hopes, but it turns out they have all the ingredients printed out for you - so great news for those with complicated food allergies. Having said that, my kid could only have 2 cookies and 2 ice cream (chocolate, mint chocolate) flavors and it covers his favorite ice cream flavor of all time: chocolate. He's allergic to wheat, eggs, avocado, peanuts, tree nuts, kiwi, and pineapple and he didn't have a reaction. They got his ice cream from the back with a new spoon so no cross contamination. Major kudos there! We got: COOKIES AND CREAM SANDWICH: yep, cookies and cream ice cream between two cookies and cream cookies for my eldest who is a fan of everything cookies and cream. She really enjoyed this and ate most. I was impressed. The adults helped her finish it off. BROWN BUTTER DOUGHNUT (seasonal) + BLACKBERRY CRUMBLE SANDWICH: you can do split flavors so I did for the adults' treat. These were sandwiched between Snickerdoodle and Gooey Butter Cake Cookies. They will also split it for you if you want and make sure both halves have both flavors (yes, I wanted). Yum! DARK CHOCOLATE: my youngest got this in a kiddie cup. Yep, the one with food allergies. He ate it ALL and I didn't get a taste. I suppose that tells you a lot. The ice creams weren't too sweet but this might depend greatly on the flavors you get and the cookie(s). Ours were just right... though my husband said the cookies were maybe too much, haha. A great place to get an indulgent treat. And I'm glad my youngest was happy with his ice cream. You do have the option of getting them warmed at the end as well as toppings but my metabolism now really can't do additional goodies. Never mind what I already got. No regrets though! They're somewhat reasonably-okay priced... $4.50 for the kiddie cup and $9.19 for each ice cream sandwich (they are big and shareable so $4.60 per person?). However, I feel like I could have also finished one by myself if it were hot outside and I hadn't eaten in 2 hours. Okay, price isn't the most economical; just don't go regularly. I like how I didn't need to chug down a cup of water after the ice cream AND cookies so I was thoroughly pleased. The staff there are super friendly and helpful on top of all that! The tables look cleanish (I spotted tiny crumbs that were missed) but we wiped them down anyway like we usually do. I'll definitely be back when I'm in need of a treat! Sadly, no photos this time sound since everyone started eating as soon as they got them.

Love the concept but premium prices are a but much. Average of 9-10 bucks for ice cream is a bit…read morewild but I guess the times we live in and based on location. Serving sizes are good- so it may be best to split one with someone.
