Ok. Where do we start?! This place was effing delicious. After a long day, we wanted good food and…read morehad little expectations. Son of the Bun is modern and lively, the place was full when we arrived around 8pm. Our servers were all so nice and we loved their shirts that all had puns like, "Girls just want to have Bun", "Bun DMC", "Bun in a million". We ordered a the chicken and waffle burger, and the bbq onion rings burger. Both were absolutely amazing, mouth-watering good. We ordered the skinny fries on the side and asked for the chipotle mayo. Their local beer was Franciscan Red and I ordered a Pimm's (which is like a strawberry/orange sangria), both also delicious. The decor was also new and modern, and we really liked their music and energy overall. Unfortunately, we did not save room for dessert and hope to make it back someday. They have a burger of the month/quarter which varies and could be fun to try. We also had a side chef/cobb salad which provided some small bit of health to our meal. They have a few craft beer selections but not extensive and sadly doesn't appear they change them.

Wanting a healthier lunch we got just one order of fish & chips this time and one of beet salad and…read moresplit them between the two of us. Both were excellent. The fish was hake. This was easily the best of the four fish&chips we've tried so far in Ireland. Outstanding actually. The batter had the most perfect crunchy texture, wasn't too thick, and it adhered well. The fish was just-off-the-boat fresh, flaky and cooked just right. The portion was enormous - two fillets, one large and one medium, with a relatively small portion of good fries. The tartar sauce was tangy with tiny chopped pickles. Vinegar was available at the table. This was served with a small salad of lettuces, spinach, scallions, and onions. Price was surprisingly low given the portion, right around average for fish&chips in our experience so far. We ordered the entree salad with the locally made goat cheese add-on for a small extra charge. More excellent leafy greens, beets in small cubes, pomegranate seeds, picked onions, candied nuts and plenty of chèvre in large pieces. It was pre-dressed with vinaigrette and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Very good, a far better choice for us than two orders of fried fish. Also on the menu were 3 other kinds of fish (monkfish, black sole, and plaice), each prepared differently. Shrimp scampi, seafood au gratin, and steamed mussels rounded out the seafood section. Oysters are on the menu but they weren't available that day. Other than seafood there were also burgers (beef and veggie), chicken wings, soup of the day, chowder, a steak, lasagna, pan roasted duck breast, cannelloni, liver paté, spring roll, and more. So a very extensive menu here, and not just the same things found everywhere. Sadly we didn't have room to try their desserts, which included sticky toffee pudding, banoffi pie, flourless chocolate cake, and meringue pie with raspberries and ice cream. They were hard to pass up.

I think you can find better elsewhere In this little town. the oysters was good yet we had better in Galway which felt fresher. basic service- had to wait some time to order and to get served

Staff and service= 100% Not only meat lovers are welcomed…read morehere: also the vegetarians have a great chance of enjoying a very delicious burger and choosing from at least 3 different kind of vegetarian options. I had the special (see black board) which was a chickpea and carrot burger with Tzatziki and: fries! Loved them, loved every single bite of my burger. The most outstanding service I have experienced in Ireland, the staff was friendly, quick, helpful, just awesome! Very well trained I must say! I seems like that they always get quite busy, so if you really want to eat here you better reserve a table. Otherwise they´ll try everything to squeeze you in.

Gourmet Burger Bistro not only has amazing curb appeal the food is also great. I went with the Chilli Burger (which has a 100% organic beef burger w/ jalapeño salsa and sweet chili mayo - I added monetary jack cheese also, the burgers come garnished with the flag of the country they are named after... but the "Chilli Burger" on the menu I think is a play on words for Chile (example of other burgers: Irish, Greek, American, etc.). The burger had a little kick with the jalapeño salsa but was tamed down with the sweet chili mayo for a perfect balance. The service was quick and polite, unlike many places in Dublin that i've visited & the food is reasonably priced. As soon as I was seated I was greeted by a server and brought ice water... thank the heavens, I was so thirsty and find myself always having to ask for water instead of it being brought as a curtesy with my meal. The place is very clean and waiting time on your burgers is quick. They had daily specials with both the burgers and dessert & have alcoholic beverages too. Vegetarians are also welcome, they have many veggie burger and salad options.
