    Filet with garlic butter

I would rate 5 stars just based off the ambience! But you need to know about the food! You pull up to the caste and walk under a stone arch and it opens you to an old world where things were different. How beautiful the stone work is. How intricate the tower tops are! You also feel like you are in a small little world inside their terrace and what a nice view of the water! We were able to walk around, let my daughter be a kid and explore! Loved this! We also poked our heads into the castle as there was a presentation happening soon so. The Castle accepts reservation, which I would suggest making! We were lucky enough to have a great view of the castle from our seats. My daughter had plain penne and the snowman ice cream. How excited these kids get in this restaurant over this dessert?! I suggest giving it a go for your kids. I went with the filet. The meat was tasty. I chose the garlic butter which I found very heavy so I used it sparingly. The filet was rested on sautéed onions and spinach topped with a roasted tomato. I can say I was not a huge fan as I like my onions cooked a little crispy and the tomato I found extremely mushy but the people I was with had the same meal and were really happy with it so to each their own! For dessert I had the marmalade and vanilla bread and butter pudding with custard. It was good. Not the best desert ever but tasty. I have to say as a patron sitting there watching other desserts... You just can't give one a shot here! The staff were courteous and our waited became friendlier toward the end of the meal. I just think he was quiet. If you come from a place where castles are just in Disney films, you should put this on your list as a must do! FYI: $15 cab ride from the heart of downtown Cork City! Worth it.

We came here for a late lunch around 3pm. This place is in an actual castle - the oldest working castle in Cork, Ireland. The castle has been transformed into an observatory. The food is fine - my friends enjoyed the fish and chips. I got the soup of the day with a half Satay chicken sandwich. Overall - a good place for lunch with family or friends. They did have a bar area that we did not get to use this time around.

This restaurant is located in the courtyard area of Black Rock Castle and was buzzing when we got there. The outside dining is set up with picnic style tables and we scored a table that was shaded by an umbrella as quite a few tables were out in the sun and unprotected from the elements. Having had a massive Irish breakfast a few hours ago, we only ended up getting a chocolate cup (€2.30) which was like a dark chocolate fondant served on a espresso cup and it was delicious! Also got home-made lemonade with cucumber (€2.50) and the combination of these two is genius plus got to eat the cucumber too! The menu looked nice so if/when in Cork again wouldn't mind coming out to eat here. Note: #266 of Yelp 100 challenge for 2016

Great view, great food and reasonable priced for what it serves. I had a beef filet with peppercorn sauce and the filet was very good but the sauce was extremely peppery like super strong black pepper flavor. Their rhubarb crumble was good but extremely sweet and their white chocolate and orange bread pudding was very good. I would love to go back there again with their beautiful castle and river view. Loved it

Chocolate cups very good. Wish I could order off the kids menu so I could find out what a homemade baby bowl is.

Cork is a place you DEFINITELY need reservations for dinner - it's very busy, and popular restaurants like Orso do fill up very quickly. It was bustling even at 6:30PM, and was great to see a busy and thriving restaurant. The food and service was phenomenal, so good that we chose to dine at their sister restaurants across the rest of our visit to Cork. Highly recommended.

Though she was literally the only server for the entire restaurant this evening, she never made us feel rushed and was always patient with every group that came. This is a relatively small space with only about 6 tables inside. There was a large group sitting outside, they probably put together 2 or 3 tables. It's a relaxed place with some beautifully framed artwork on the wall. The menu provides a wonderful selection of Middle Eastern food. We didn't choose any drinks other than the water that was offered. My wife and I shared the Grilled Halloumi salad to start. The salad was delicious and the halloumi was superb. For the entree we both chose the fish of the day, a grilled sea bream with some sort of slaw. The fish was fantastic, prepared perfectly. It had wonderful flavors in addition to the excellent taste and texture of the fish. We ordered a side of sweet pea hummus with pita, which was absolutely delicious. We succumbed to ordering dessert because they too sounded so good. What made them totally special was that birth the Pear Tartin and Mahalabia were flavorful, not too sweet, and we didn't feel stuffed after enjoying them to complete our meal. The fresh mint tea that accompanied dessert was delicious.
