Gorgeous ... If you go pick a day no cruise ships are there ! It is truly breathtaking

Costs $7+ to park, then parking guy in golf cart is extra rude if you go down the wrong side (which is easy to do since it's so poorly marked). Hardly anyone there when I went but he made a beeline to block me as soon as he saw me on wrong side, then yelled at me and called me stupid in front of my kids. Really, dude? Beach is ok, but there are prettier ones on St. Thomas; only real plus are the bathrooms/showers. Lifeguards are hidden by trees, so not sure how they see anything. read more

This is a very pretty, quintessentially caribbean beach with beautiful turquoise waters and a nice sandy bottom with fairly calm waves. Unfortunately it is also very popular and at times crowded which detracts from the beauty. My family had been here a few times but this was my first time at Magen's having opted for a St John's excursion or Catamaran sail while in port previously. I'm usually a little leery about not taking a ship excursion but as my hub pointed out...this was very easy to do, so we took the plunge. Unfortunately, our day in port was drizzly but still warm enough for a beach. What the weather did manage to contribute was lack of crowds which made it a pretty nice experience in less than stellar weather. Nothing a Painkiller at one of the beach bars can't take care of! Lounger rental is inexpensive and there are a few covered small pavilions in case of a downpour. Going to the beach in the rain isn't usually my cup of tea, but since the crowds were small and the water still looked beautiful, I managed to have a lovely time, noodling in the water, relaxing on my lounger, dodging the raindrops and enjoying a delicious Painkiller all with the backdrop on the beautiful Caribbean. It's worth a trip in my opinion, rain or shine! read more

Magen's Bay is probably one of the best beaches on St. Thomas. It is very picturesque and very calm water compared to some other spots on the Virgin Islands. We made sure to come here on a non cruise port day, have heard it gets very crowded on those days. You can bring a cooler with different beverages/food if you want. They do have chairs/beach gear for rent here at a pretty reasonable price. You do have to go inside the main gift shop area to rent these though, and they do take credit cards here too. They also have a food stand/restaurant with basic food options. We got slices of pizza and chicken strips with fries. The food was ok, feed our hunger at the time. The bar here has a great view of the beach and plenty of good drink choices. We also walked down to the end of the beach and found there is a rental stand for stand up paddles boards, kayaks etc. This stand is cash only. We rented the stand up paddle boards and had a great time in bay with these, was a very good workout too. We had to wait for quite a while to get a taxi to go back to our place, so enjoy the view if you have to wait for a taxi. read more

Great great beach. Super calm waters, great for kids. It doesn't get too crowded, despite there beaching only about 20 feet of sand before you hit the water. Typical beach food inside at reasonable prices. Drinks can be picked up at the bar inside, or via the waitress that walks around the beach. There's only 1 waitress, so service is a bit slow. You can BYOB (no glass), which is a nice touch. The view is fantastic, the sand is soft, and water has barely any coral or rocks, so great for walking, playing, and swimming. $4 to enter per adult (free for kids) and $2 to park read more

What a beautiful beach with white sand and clear water. I think it's the best beach in St Thomas. It costs $4 pp to enter in and it's definitely worth it. Seats are also available to rent. If you manage to enter in before 8 am it's free. The only drawback is crowd especially on cruise days. If you are staying in a villa/ hotel check cruise schedules and arrange your trip accordingly. You can also walk to the end to avoid the crowd. Overall it is great experience swimming in the crystal water and lying down under the shades of trees. Ps: I'm deducting one star as my favourite beaches are in St. John. read more

This is our favorite of the easy to reach public beaches on St. Thomas. We have not found it to be crowded (check the cruise ship schedules) but it has amenities to help with one's comfort. World's top 10 beach? Hard to believe. If you're looking for a world class beach, take the ferry over to St. John and go to Trunk Beach, it's waaaay better. Magen's bay is a famous beach in St. Thomas and it's easy to see why when you visit it. The beach is very long and has great sand. And the waters are crystal clear. There is a very gradual drop-off, so you can wade or swim out a long was into the water. The water is not very choppy and this is great relaxing place to swim at. The snorkeling isn't very good here, so don't even bother in that regard. This is strictly for sun bathing and swimming. This is also a local favorite to help cool off. So it's going to be crowded with both townies and tourists. There are usually loud parties/barbecues being hosted by local families for events and celebrations-- as they can rent out shelter houses and picnic areas. This may not appeal to many people because you can't just lay back and listen to the waves rolling in. There are plenty of good showers available and there are also several places to grab a beer or some food. Make sure you visit it! read more

Beautiful beach we saw two sea turtles while there. Parking was real close to the sand. It was well groomed and very clean. The bar is located on the middle and they come to you so you never have to leave the lounge chair. The prices were inline with other places we went while in St Thomas so this is a don't miss stop. read more

Magen's Bay is a beautiful beach, and one of the few that actually charges on the island. There are two roads that lead there and the both bring you on the mountain so you can see a beautiful postcard view before you enter the beach. Be sure to stop and take pictures! They charge $4 per person admission. On a Sunday the beach was very crowded, there was a wedding and another celebration of some sort. You can bring your own food and drinks, and they have a snack bar/bar at the right of the beach. There are 2 bathroom facilities that are complete with showers. If one can imagine a beach bar that Jimmy Buffet would write a song to, this bar would fit the theme. They serve up some of the best pina coladas I've ever had. I could see myself spending each and every day, for the rest of my life here, knocking back coladas, enjoying the cool ocean breeze-- becoming a functional alcoholic--and it would be a good life indeed. Went to this beach based on reviews. Beautiful location, very convenient to get to and from cruise ship with local taxes, even the ride to is gorgeous with sweeping views of the cruise docks from above. There's a restaurant, bar, & stand to rent kayaks and SUP boards. Beach was crowded but there was about 4 cruise ships docked that day. We only stayed about an hour because we saw about 50 HUGE JELLYFISH. I'm talking about frisbee sized jellyfish. They were all over when we were paddle boarding then we saw some in water about knee deep. Maybe they were friendly non biting jellyfish but we weren't hanging around to find out. read more

Great beach trip off the Koningsdam. Soft sand,clear water,warm with plenty of facilities(rest rooms,showers,places to spray the sand off your feet. Brought our own snorkeling gear & went out to the roped area as far as we could go.Swam with a giant sea turtle for a while.Small variety of fish,but the blue tangs were beautiful. There is a restaurant & plenty of beverages(water,alcohol,non). The only caution I have is the lounger chair rental is way down@the end of the beach. We rented for $26.00 for 2($10) plus $16 for a security deposit. When we turned them in we got stiffed $6.00. The lady in the gift shop said wed only get $10.00 back.We let HAL know & they were looking in to this as there were lots of folks off the Koningsdam who were in the same boat.If you go on your own,there are plenty of taxi's to & from the beach. While in St. Thomas we went to 4 beaches and this one was by far the best, most beautiful and unique! It felt like you were in a lake instead of the ocean. It was also a bit chilly in the water here too, during mid August which I found strange. No waves, all calm and the sand was white. The ocean was clean and clear, no seaweed and also no sea life to be seen here. Kayaking & paddle boarding would be very easy to do here. This beach costs to get in ($5/per person non resident and $2 per car). They had a drink/snack bar that closed down stupid early. We brought our own food and drinks here, since they allow that any and everywhere in USVI. Lifeguards were here as well but they booked out early as well. Picnic tables were available in the shady areas and I didn't notice any chair/snorkel rental here. But this beach was one of the biggest, if not THE biggest we went to. There was also no wind here which was also quite unique. They shut off the water, closed up the showers, bathrooms, and quit charging to enter at about 4-4:30 here. So if you want to avoid paying and the crowds come later in the day. The sunset here was just about the most breathtaking sunset I've ever seen. I would definitely recommend visiting this beach. It's worth paying to get in, even though it's one of the only 2 beaches that cost to get in on St. Thomas. FYI - Drake's Seat overlooks Magen's Bay. read more

My favorite beach on St. Thomas. Water is calm and crystal clear. There is food available and a full bar. Excellent Pain Killers! Lounge chairs and picnic tables are available. Plenty of shade so you don't need an umbrella. I don't have to get out of the water for a drink. The beach waitress is friendly and very good at her job. She is always around. She delivers drinks arrive promptly and freshly made. We don't even have to get out of the water to get our drinks. read more

Beautiful! We went early like at 9 am on a weekday, and it was quiet with only a few people there. Gorgeous calm water. Good snorkeling. Clean bathrooms and showers. Nice bar and grill with burgers and hot dogs and such. You can rent chairs and equipment. It costs $4 per person plus $2 parking to go to the beach, but well worth it. The money goes to maintaining the facilities and keeping it nice. It starts to get packed once the taxis bring in the cruise ship guests around 11 or 12. Best beach on St. Thomas, obviously since its also rated one of the top ten in the world. Yes it gets crowded on cruise ship days, however we went around 11:00am with 2 ships in port on the 4th of July and still found a great shady spot with bench down to the far left. Most people congregate near the snack bar and yes it was quite crowded there, but still relatively quiet down to the left of the beach. Even though it was crowded around the snack bar, they do a good job of slinging out the food, just need to put up and ignore the typical rude service. On the other hand bar service was great and drinks reasonable. Beach has some of the softest sand I've ever experienced, including great clear water. Not much to see snorkeling as there aren't much rock formations. read more

Rated one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world! ...so we HAD to go check it out. This is the only beach we went to where the schools of fish swam around you, stingrays swam close to shore, and the water is a perfect temperature. The changing area and showers were surprisingly clean too - probably from the $4 admission charge to help with the uptake? There is also a cocktail waitress that walks up and down the beach servicing your alcoholic needs. Water activities (jet skis, snorkeling, paddle boats, etc) are also available for rent. read more

This is by far the BEST beach I've been to so far in my life!!! I'm not sure why this beach only has 4 stars??? Yes, there is a $4 admission fee per person, but that is very reasonable. The beach can be crowded, but that is only if you hang out in the area right by the gate. We walked all the way to the left where the bay is curving around, and there was hardly a soul out there. Super peaceful and not uber crowded, which I love. The water is so serene and hardly makes a wave; I have never been to a beach like this and I loved it! I laid on my back and floated for hours on end - I almost dozed off at one point! We saw a couple beach side weddings which were beautiful. I would venture to say this is probably the best beach on St. Thomas! I would love to come back here some day to soak up the sun and float in the bay. read more

Do yourself a favor and check the cruise ship schedule as you may want to avoid this beach on popular days when it will be OVERRUN by cruise ship crazy's. http://crew-center.com/st-thomas-cruise-ship-schedule-january-june-2018. As it is considered a national park, there is an entry fee of $4 for non residents and $2.50 for residents as well as a $2 parking fee. The parking is to the left. Drive past the first parking lot and over the bridge for the regular parking. If you keep going you can find spots where you can basically pull up right to the sand just be careful to not park in too sandy of a spot before you get stuck. There is a bar all the way on the right side of the beach as well as facilities to rent chairs and snorkeling gear. Salt water showers and restrooms are all the way to the left and right. There are natural trails but everything excluding the beach itself is closed due to hurricane damage. Parking lot closes at 5pm sharp. read more

This place is as great as all the hype you hear. The beach is large and expansive. We went off season so it was not as crowded as it gets in the winter. A true bathers beach- nothing for snorkeling. Its like a pool it is so clear and blue. The amenities were great, good food and generous portions. There is a bar that serves you if you wish to drink. It seems more like an adult beach, but there were kids there at the ends, away from the bar. The gift shop was great, good quality stuff. Bath houses were clean easy to use. Overall a must visit o St. Thomas. read more
