Definitely recommend coming here if you are in St Thomas on a cruise. It's a beautiful white sand beach with lush green cliffs on both sides. There are plenty of facilities, food, and a bar. This is a great place to relax as there are not many activities. Some negatives, the food was ridiculously pricey even for tourist trap standards and they charged $40 for 2 chairs which is more then most carribean tourist beaches. Next time I will walk to the quieter side and find a bench or put down a towel, mostly everyone stays around the bar area
Really enjoyed our time at Magens bay. I only got a view from far away, and then none while we were actually on the beach or in the water. But we snorkled there. Lots of fish and sea turtles. A lot of people on the beach and the umbrellas and chairs were sold out but we still enjoyed the water and views.
I love this beach its always picture perfect. You don't have to shell out $30 for a chair & umbrella but that's how much it costs along with $7 entry per person. They have a bar and food that's pretty dang good. I tried the Salmon sandwich it was delicious. They have 2 bathrooms and a changing area if you need it and taxis that come through often.
Listed as a world renowned beach and I can understand why... after going thru the heck jn station where you pay for entry. It was $16 for the two of us. Parking was ample even though the beach seemed busy. We get our gear and walk the short path to feet to the beach and it's one of those moments where you wonder why you live anywhere else but here in Saint Thomas. It's just so pretty. The white sands and clear blue waters you read about are pretty much all true. Albeit the water wasn't that clear but it sure was pretty. Beauty of this beach is that there is really no drop off to worry about. The water is somewhat shallow for a good amount of distance out. I didn't see any fish but the beach was kind of crowded so maybe they like their space like myself? Bathrooms were big and clean, the folks working here are super nice even though the busy. As noted, there is a bar that you can eat/drink at. We had packed our snacks and water so didn't even adventure that way. The have taxi services right at the entry to parking so getting back to port would have been easy if we didn't have our rental car. Would i go back here? Maybe. If I had a choice of here or Lindholz? Depends? Do i need a bar/eatery? People watching? Shallow warmer waters? I'd go here. If I wanted deeper waters, waves, pack my own food/drink. Seeing more fish right off the beach. That's Lindholz beach. It's all about perspective. Either way, you get to have your feet in the sand and sun warming you up. What else could you ask for. Enjoy the adventure.
Magens Bay is probably the best known beach in St Thomas. This is for good reason. You'll find a very long expanse of sandy beach. It will take you a long time to walk from one end to the other. Most of the time, the water is crystal clear with minimal waves (if any). It's the type of beach where you can chill out in the water and swim as if you're in a natural swimming pool. The beach also has a restaurant, bar, gift shop, changing rooms, rinse showers, and bathrooms. These are all adequate if you're here for a day. But, the food is a bit pricey. Be prepared to pay a small admission fee to enter the beach. This fee is used to maintain the beach/fqcility. Overall: recommended. Even locals often pick this beach out of all the choices here. Tip: If there's a lot of cruise ships, maybe think twice about Magens if you don't like crowds. Otherwise, go for it. It's best when there's few ships or none!
Beautiful beach! The water looks beautiful! They have an option to rent a beach chair & umbrella for $20. We setup under a tree and it was perfect for us. There is a bar and take-out restaurant. This beach is amongst the top 10 beaches of the world and it's a must-see if you are in the area. We came in a cruise and purchased a shopping/beach and sightseeing of historical landmarks excursion for $64.99 - totally worth it.
This is one of our favorite beaches in St. Thomas. It has a beautiful white sand beach that is spacious enough to provide seating for large crowds, along with crystal blue waters. We usually attend on days when cruise ships are not in, which makes it nice and peaceful without crowds. The shallow sandy beach does not require water shoes, as there are few rocks or coral in the wading areas. They have public bathrooms, a gift shop, and a place to get drinks and food. We had plenty of space to lay towels out in the shade of the nearby trees, but they also provide seats and umbrellas for a charge. Also, there is a charge for adults visiting the beach plus they charge for parking. I think our party of 5 with parking was around $40. For those who think the snorkeling is not great, I think they may have missed where the action is. I'd recommend walking to the end of the beach on the northern part and swim along the rocky coastline to see some great aquatic life. The south rocky coastline also has good snorkeling. The sandy beaches make the visibility not the best at times, but we saw some turtles and a good variety of fish. Definitely worth the visit next time you're in St. Thomas!
Great but with some frustrations During our cruise stop in April 2025, my family visited Magens Bay Beach. Soft sand, crystal-clear warm water, picturesque views, and even some snorkeling opportunities on the right edge make it an excellent destination for anyone looking for a great beach in St. Thomas. The right side of the beach (facing the sea) was packed with people, umbrellas, and loungers. This is where taxis drop off passengers, and getting a lounger there was a frustration. $40 gets you either an umbrella with two loungers or just two loungers, but the rental process was very slow and inefficient. Each person had to wait while an attendant searched for available umbrellas with no guarantee he would find one by the time it was finally your turn. After 30 minutes in line, we were told no umbrellas were left. Couldn't they have told us earlier? Ultimately, we settled for loungers at the very back, near the road where taxis pull in. There was a food and drinks shack on this side of the beach, but it had 20+ min wait times. Losing precious beach time just to grab a few drinks felt quite frustrating. More bartenders or additional drink/food stations could easily solve this and make the Magens Bay Beach experience more enjoyable. The left side of the beach (facing the sea), however, was peaceful, quiet, and spacious, with natural shade from the trees. It had picnic tables, but no loungers, umbrellas, or food/drink vendors (why not open one?). I wish we'd known about this contrast in advance - we would've opted for left side. If you can skip a lounger, use natural shade, and don't mind taking a walk for food and drinks, I'd highly recommend to stay on the left side of the beach for better experience.

Gorgeous soft sand beach on the north side of the island of St Thomas, US Virgin Islands. We took a shuttle from the cruise port costing $15 one-way per person. It now costs $7 for non-locals for entry ($2 if local). Since it's a paid beach, most people were tourists coming from the boats, all various ages. The beach runs from Southwest to Northeast at the end of Magens Bay, and the waves are very gentle throughout. It is not particularly wide or deep, so it's an easy walk to get from the parking lot to the water's edge. We got dropped off at the NE end and I took a long beach walk to the other end (taking about 25 minutes). The beach is kept very clean, has good permanent facilities, and saw plenty of lifeguard stations, most of them being manned. They rent chairs and umbrellas from the building located in the middle, which also houses a beach restaurant. I can see how the beach can get really crowded, with the great sand, warm water, and good facilities.

We didn't realize you had to pay to enter. $7 per person plus $2 for parking. We only planned on staying an hour or so but still paid so we could see the beach. We walked from one end to the other which was a nice way to people watch and enjoy the white sand and blue water. We were there on a Sunday and it was crowded. Parking was easy to find. It was quite lovely. The water was calm. Wish we would have had more time to swim and relax here. read more
One of our stops for the day. Plenty of parking. Magens Bay was not busy the day that we were there. The water is nice and warm. There are a few tables that you can sit at. There's one area of tables that had a roof over it which was perfect when it started to rain for a short while. The rain was warm, so we stayed in the water. There's an area where you can take showers or just wash your feet. The restroom was clean and has quite a few changing rooms. I would definitely come back to this Bay if I'm ever in St. Thomas again. read more

This is such a beautiful beach! It's worth visiting. When we stopped by here on our excursion, there was not that many people. The shower water is salty so don't rinse your face in it. There's a small foot shower area outside the female showers. We will definitely visit again! read more

We got there early and there was hardly anyone on the beach, which was great. The beach is nice with clear water and has plenty of room, so don't put your stuff so close to each other. Get there before the people come from the cruise ships so you'll have a nice quiet time with hardly anyone there. Plenty of bathrooms and showers. read more
We were staying up the road at Villalee. So it was a short drive for us. The beach is very clean and there was plenty of parking available. The beach sand is very white and the water is so blue. There are picnic tables close to the beach so try to get one of them and setup there to avoid the sun if wanted. There is also a beach bar in the middle of the beach with both drinks and food available. It cost 8 dollars per adult to enter the beach with parking. The marine life was pretty sparse, after returning home I realized there was a reef that we didn't see all the way down the beach to the left. The bathrooms for gentleman had me gagging so I would avoid them is possible. read more

This beach is fantastic. It does cost to enter but the day we went, we were able to find parking easily and the beach was not crowded. We did make sure to go on a day when there were no cruise ships in town. I don't usually get in the water at beaches, but made an exception. The water was crystal clear, warm and very relaxing. Also the bar serves and awesome painkiller. We rented 2 chairs and an umbrella and relaxed until they were taken and put away. We wanted to see the sunset here because we were told it was a great place to see it. We sat at the picnic style tables that are available until it was time for the sunset. We were not disappointed. We were treated to a perfectly gorgeous sunset! read more
Magens Bay is a beautiful beach, but it can get very crowded which makes for a much less relaxing experience. I recommend coming early before the cruise ship crowds arrive and to also secure a good parking spot if you're driving. There is a small entrance and parking fee. I believe it was $7 for entry and $2 for parking. read more

Beautiful stunning beach. Warm clear blue water and great snorkeling. It was busy but didn't feel crowded. Blissfully happy to have been at this gorgeous piece of heaven read more
To me, this is the best beach on the island!! That's why my husband and I visited three times. You do need to know that there is a cost to enter. We were surprised that most of the beaches do charge an entrance fee. For non-locals, it is $5 a person plus $2 to park. We found out later that you can get a month pass for $30. Well we will know for next time. Luckily, we were always able to find a parking place, but every time, it was at the furthest parking lot. Check the cruise schedule before you go. We went two times and it was very pleasant. We were able to find a picnic table, and there weren't lines at the snack bar or the bar. However, we did go one day when a lot of cruise ships had docked, and it was incredibly crowded with about 1,500 people. We made the most of it by sharing a table at the pavilion. Then, we later shared a table at the snack bar with a nice couple from Chicago. That day, the lines to get food and drinks were really long. What I liked the most about Magen's Bay is that the ocean current was not as strong as it was at Lindquest and Sapphire Beach. At the other beaches, not being a strong swimmer, I didn't feel comfortable in the water. Another thing that was nice at Magen's Bay was all the wildlife. We saw several large turtles stick their head out of the water, which was super cool. There were also several frigates flying in the sky, pelicans, and other sea birds. We even saw a pelican nesting in a tree. Very interesting. Luckily, all the days we visited the weather was perfect!! Sunny and in the 80s. Also, we were glad that the water temperatures were not bad even in December. read more
The views at this beach are out of this world! Magens Bay Beach is a true paradise in every sense of the word. With crystal clear, clean water, a beach bar with great drinks and a tiny gift shop, this beach is not to be missed if you're visiting St. Thomas! You can take a 20 min cab ride from the cruise terminal. Look for the open-air taxis! So much fun! read more
St. Thomas, V.I. was one of the ports on the itinerary for my recent cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines. I decided to visit Magens Bay as part of a shore excursion that I purchased. For my 1200th Review on Yelp, I wanted to skip well forward on the reviews of my family vacation to Miami and then seven day cruise to Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Saint Thomas on the Carnival Celebration. I will review beautiful Magen's Bay in Saint Thomas. I am doing this because 1) I am unable to review most of my trip to DR because Yelp does not support reviews in that country and 2) Magen's Bay took my breathe way. I really wanted this trip to be special. My family and I had not been on vacation prior since 2019. My mother had just beat cancer, and I wanted her to have a good time. We both thoroughly enjoyed Magens Bay. We rented and relaxed on some beach chairs at the Magen's Bay Beach Bar, Cafe and Boutique. We also had a few drinks from there as well, which I will review at a later time. The water in Magens Bay, and really the rest of Saint Thomas is this beautiful cerulean color, the water is warm, no waves and the green mountain in the backdrop... like i said absolutely breathtaking! We spent a few hours on this beach, before we had to go back to the boat with our tour group. It certainly was not enough time! As i said we rented chairs at Magen's Bay Beach Bar, Cafe and Boutique. The chairs are not cheap at about $30. Still, you get a nice comfy chair to sit at, and you can order drinks while at the beach from the bar. Only those who rent the chair can be at this part of the beach. Further down Magen's Bay, you can enjoy the beach if you do not want to pay the $30. That part of the beach is also very nice and has a public restroom area if you need to use it. I think it was here that I finally decided that Saint Thomas may be the place I want to retire to. The people are friendly, the island is paradise. If you are thinking about a vacation, you should spend some time on this idyllic island! While your there, spend a few hours enjoying Magens Bay! read more

Came here for a couple of hours while in a cruise trip. The taxis from Havensight Port was about 15-20 minutes. The taxis cost $12 per person and entrance to the beach is $7 per person, so a total of $19. There are Plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent. The price is $20 for combined umbrella and lounge chair. These are individual chairs with their own shade and that is $25-30. The beach is gorgeous! The sand is white and soft. There water is crystal green/aquamarine. There is plenty of space. The beach also has a place to buy food ( didn't purchase any because I was planning on eating in Downtown Charlotte Amelie). There is also drinks for purchase. Bathrooms and showers are also available. There are plenty of available taxis for the return as well. The beach is definitely for those who want to lounge and enjoy a relaxing day. There wasn't as much snorkeling opportunities. read more

This beach was a stop during our excursion & it was so nice. Chair rentals was $5 dollars which is worth it since that sun is crazy! Nice beach, peaceful we enjoyed our time here. read more

Like Patrick in Schitt's Creek sings: "You are simply the best. Better than all the rest!" This is tropical paradise. Hype is true in this case. One of the world best beaches. $5 entrance is worth it. Go on non cruises days early in the morning for the best experience. Check Vinow.com for the cruise schedule. There are several restrooms but use the one on the left when you enter the beach. It's the main and bigger rest room and is also the cleanest. There are rinsing areas and changing areas. Most reviews in various websites said no lockers here. But I did find them. Look at the pictures attached. It's right next to the water station inside the restaurant. Also available are rentals for various beach toys (snorkels, fins, chairs, umbrellas etc). You can also rent kayaks. Details and pricing available in the pics. The Johnny cakes here are $4. They were nice and are available during breakfast hours. Go to the far right for the best snorkeling experience. I saw many big fish in their. Couldn't spot any turtles though. Water is super clear and sand is soft. AAA Taxis are available until 6pm. Check their numbers in the pics I attached. And don't forget to like . Go to the left side of the park and there are some really nice walking/hiking trails. Don't miss them. Will provide much needed shade. Can help as a break during an intense beach day. read more

Nice beach. Lots of places to set up. If you get there early enough, you may even get lucky to find a picnic table under a tree. We went on a day without a cruise ship in town, so I don't know how busy it will be cruise ship tourists. The beach got busier the later it got. We arrived at 11am and found parking and a good spot easily. The beach is clean. The water is clear. The entrance fee is $5 for adults plus $2 for parking. If you're a veteran, you get free parking. They have clean restrooms and showers available. There's a small restaurant and a bar. They do take cards if you spend more than $15. Beer is about $5.50 and frozen cocktails $10. They do have a waitress that walks up and down the beach. read more

One of the best places I have been! It's great! It's clean, has crystal clear water, fish for snorkeling, very calm waters for all to enjoy! Also, very nice walking around available in the park and nature to enjoy. There is an entry free for adults $5 and children 12 and under is free! They have onsite food and bar! We enjoyed a few drinks, pricing wasn't above the norm. One tip, this is a place that the cruise ship patrons come to visit, depending on the number of ships in port it can become very crowded from 12 to 4ish. Cabs coming out of the area are easy during the day. read more
