Fantastic last minute booking they got us in for. My husband and I were on a quick two night trip…read moreto Kentucky to do a little distillery tour, but they are closed for Covid. Driving through all the greenery horse pastures hubby made a comment he wishes he could ride a horse; next thing I did was a quick secret search for horse riding, and DRS came up. I called pretty late at 7:45 at night as we only had two more days, the answering machine said to text the number for guided tours and I did, apologizing for it being so late. The next morning I got a text back while at breakfast that they were able to get us in at 1:00 pm that day. I surprised hubby, we went to hotel changed and headed out on a short drive from Lexington. Entering the grounds i couldn't wait to go on a ride, I haven't been horseback riding since 2012 in the Bahamas. And while this wasn't quite like that experience, it was perfect for what we wanted. It was informal and casual as the ladies brought us right in and gave us the names of our horses. We had 3 other ladies with our small group of 5, plus our guide Britney (spelling?) and her helper I didn't catch his name. Britney's mom helped us to our horses, I had Sun a 17 year old male horse that was gentle and easy. I am truly a beginning rider and the instructions were simple and clear, and Britney reminded us along our trails of things like "lean back going down this hill" etc. They have 100 acres of land and an adjacent 300 for the horses. The scenery was so beautiful and the trails were shaded for the most part which was a nice reprieve from the middle of the day hot sun. The other worker alongside Britney took pictures of us as we rode by so that was a cool bonus. We truly had a great time, about an hour was spent at Deer Run which fit nicely into our schedule. When we find ourselves back in Kentucky DRS will be the first place we contact!

We did a private trail ride and it was absolutely perfect. The property is gorgeous and the horses…read moreare noticeably loved. Our two guides that went with us were super friendly, patient, and informative. It's not far out of Lexington and if you plan on being in the area I highly recommend you plan a stop in here. If you're a lover of animals you want to make sure you spend your time and money on places that offer a great experience while taking the best care of their animals. Stepping Stone definitely checks both boxes.

I am finally learning how to ride a horse ! After taking lessons a few other places, I came to…read moreDebbie and finally learned proper riding techniques. If you want to learn HOW to ride a horse correctly and HOW to stay on the horse while riding, Debbie will teach you the necessary skills required to correctly ride. Debbie will give you one on one lessons. She has been riding and around horses since she was one year old. She brings all her understanding of horse behavior and all her knowledge of horsemanship skills, to you . Come as a learner. Come with a genuine interest to ride. If I get lazy and neglect good form, she inevitably will catch my mistake and correct me, which only makes me a better rider. She will take you at any skill level. She will be straight up with you. If you come to genuinely learn from her, you will be taught . In the course of learning to ride, she will tell you lots of interesting stories about horses and horse behavior based on her own life experience of owning and being around many horses. She doesn't have an assistant . She runs the barn. So be patient in the signing up process. Just because you go to a barn with a warm assistant to greet you and schedule you , doesn't mean you will learn to ride a horse. A good and skilled instructor who enjoys seeing a student progress (that is Debbie), with a student who genuinely wants to learn , is what makes all the difference in mastering the skill.

I scheduled a riding lesson for my friends 10year old daughter. I walked in the barn and no one…read moregreeted me or looked up. I asked for person in charge. This women acknowledged me as she put food in her mouth. Never shook my hand or identified herself. She took my check and turned us over to the instructor. Also who did not identify herself or greet us. The lesson seemed to go ok but first impressions fade slowly. I have had horses most of my life. I worked at a teaching stable for years in Massachusetts. When a new client came to our farm making them feel welcome was number one for us. Why spend $35 to be unwelcome?

Upon entering it was dark so I was unsure what I was walking into. It's turns out it was fine. Lol (Watch your step though as you walk through) they have lights along the floor to help you see. There's tables and couches inside - It's odd in a good way. I sat at the bar- I didn't want to take up a table since I was dining solo. There's a patio also. The bartenders wasted no time welcoming me. I placed my drink and food order. The bison burger and tots is what I went with. My food was hot & fresh. I do wish I had ordered my burger medium or even medium well...... the well done burger made it lack flavor. I love how fresh the lettuce and tomatoes were!!! The tots were slightly too overcooked for me but as you can see they gave me a ton of them! I didn't eat them all. The prices here are very reasonable so that's a PLUS. I didn't stay long after I finished my food so I didn't get a chance to really explore the space. I do plan to return here at some point!
