We've been heading to Hunter Cove cabins for a week every other summer for more than 20 years. We…read morehave a big family so between us we've been in every cabin. Each year we see a few new updates like flat screen tv's or over the range microwaves, but the cabins still maintain their homey, well decorated rustic feel. If you enjoy a classic on the lake vacation with canoes, a nice dock, nearby hiking and fishing, then this is the place for you. There are also some cute shops and places for lunch in the little town of Rangeley. Chris and Ralph are long time owners who take great care of the place and are sure to see that the cabins are stocked with plenty of kitchen ware and clean sheets and towels. I definitely recommend a family vacation here if you want to unplug and enjoy the outdoors.

Almost immediately I decided I wanted to stay a second night and frankly I want to move in...but 2 days is all I could swing this trip. I stayed in Cabin 6 which could hold a family of 4 (There's a loft and a bedroom for sleeping. I guess in a pinch someone could sleep on the couch/futon). I love my efficient little cabin. There TV, a decent kitchen, a nice bathroom (not too small), a wood stove, kitchen table and flat screen TV in the corner. The property is amazing...all the cabins are up a hill from the lake. There are a few docks, a small beach, a shed for the water toys/boats and what not. On the docks/floating platforms are chase lounges made of wood as well as adirondack chairs, all with cushions. It's great to lounge and look onto one of the nicest lakes in the state and even the country. Never been to Rangeley before this trip but I will be back ASAP! The whole lake is beautiful but I do really like this property as well as it's location (10 minutes or less from Oquossic-which has the sporting museum and a few good restaurants: 45th Parallel and The Ginger Bread House). It's about 10-12 in the other direction of Downtown Rangeley. So many great views, drives, hikes and places to eat. Plan at least 3 nights, more if you can. You could easily spend a few days just enjoying the property and making your own meals. Big fan of Hunter Cove Camp.

I knew…read moreit was going to be a relaxing experience focused around food and entertainment, but I was still pleasantly surprised by the sense of community the owners cultivate by hosting happy hours, buffet dinners where you sit with other families, and nightly entertainment. I enjoyed time on Lake Kezar (a lake tour on a pontoon, riding a water bike, and swimming), had some excellent meals including a lobster dinner, worked the NYT crossword every morning, and saw a week of enjoyable concerts and shows. The place is filled with huge, multi-generational families, which gives it such a cool vibe. I was among a handful of first-timers, and I think all of us lefting wanting to go back. I so totally understand why my mom has been hyping this experience up since she first went 15 or 20 years ago.

Evening performances that you can't believe you are watching in the Maine woods; your waiter is also a fantastic musical theater actor, a beach staffer might be a concert level pianist. several Quisis staff have gone one to Broadway, Lincoln Center, etc. And ownership/management is very aware of the unique community they have created. they love the place and it shows. They do everything they can to make sure your family has a great vacation, all while keeping the traditions that make Quisisana so magical.

I came here with my Husband before we had kids and was expecting myself to have to eat in the room to keep my feral kids out of the way of the guests, but that could not have been further from the truth! Stayed at the Omni with my three kids, 5 and under, and in laws for a few nights and had an incredible experience. As soon as we arrived, everyone was incredibly friendly. Nick gave our kids a very warm welcome and handed them all super nice kids welcome bags. He was also the last person we saw when we left and he did a great job, super friendly! The resort has plenty of outdoor areas for the kids to run around and get some energy out. The indoor pool was perfect for kids. Only went up to 4 ft and there was a 1.5 ft wading area for the babies. There is a toy store on site in case you want to get the kids something. Of course the arcade was a huge hit for our kids. All of our meals were wonderful. We had the best servers. Elena, Peter, Dilek were awesome. Elena made us feel so special and treated me and my mother in law so well! Adam was super helpful and always hustlin around the covered porch area. After the kids were asleep we were able to sneak out to the Conservatory bar (beautiful views of the mountains) and Ben made delicious drinks. Overall we loved it, highly recommend for families, and we will definitely be back. Thank you Omni team!

The outside when weather is this nice is really good, ample porch seating and exterior reception areas. The food imo is ok. The first meal was a "simple" BLT with really soft and kind of fatty bacon. The soda was also flat. Summer staff return and gearing for the season might lend to this. The exterior temps were hot one day and the lobbies and hallways were just plain hot, too. My room AC ran nonstop and failed to break 74 in the room. The suite was nice if not outdated a bit with carpeted floors that likely met the style of an old hotel but felt old. The Cave bar is a must. Omni is showing signs of reparation on this hotel which shows the grandeur of its day, great molding and architectural accents, but also fighting termite damage, actual termites and bees, one of us was stung in the dining room, inside. The staff is seasonal, with that some younger folks learning the system and very friendly while others, like bellhops seeming disinterested. It's wrapped as looking luxury but with practical gaps in execution.

Thankfully, I was situated within the Pool building on the inside so it had more of a Hotel than Motel feeling. Plus this typically affords more peace and quiet. The hotel boasts a Golf Course, Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Steam Room, Arcade, and Restaurant; all of which really set them apart and above the local competition. I look forward to returning next time I find myself in the area! Good show!

So when it came time for dinner, there did not seem to be too many places in the area. So I thought I'd try the attached restaurant. The dining room was quite large. I was quickly seated and was one of a hand full of patrons in the room. I decided to try the special: beer battered shrimp, salad (forgot to tell her to hold the croutons), baked potato and broccoli. I was served a mini loaf of hot, standard recipe white bread with whipped "butter." My rant: There should be a law against restaurants calling margarine "butter". As nicely whipped and pretty as it presented, this "butter" was MARGARINE - the old fashioned, cheap kind. No "touch of cream" or buttermilk or half and half. It was terrible, as was the bread. The salad was leaf lettuce, red onion, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, and once I removed the abundant croutons, was decent. The baked potato was - well - a baked potato, which I chose not to ruin with MARGARINE. The broccoli was over cooked to the point of having some pieces that were scorched. The highlight of the plate were the 4 jumbo, beer battered shrimp. They were delicious; however, I wanted some tartar sauce to go with them. It took me 5 minutes of waving my arms to finally catch the eye of A busboy. He wanted to know who my waitress was. I couldn't tell him but the Hostess came and got the sauce for me. Evidently, the one waitress I saw working, also worked the bar and other eating area which is not in sight of the dining room. That seemed problematic to me. It is summer time. This is a recreational area. I assume that this Resort relies on tourists to keep going. It is Monday night. Perhaps that made the difference in service levels. I don't blame the waitress - she had a lot of area to cover. The Beer Battered Shrimp, I could eat all day. They were delicious. Serving scorched broccoli was unacceptable. And if you're going to serve margarine, please don't call it butter - butter substitute maybe, but not butter.
