One late-2019 engagement and 2020 elopement later, I'm a Silk bride and thrilled with my dress. Ultimately, our decision to elope hinged on Silk's off the rack sample sale. If I found a dress, that would move things forward. Well, I found a dress, and I'm a newlywed. So here is the story of shopping for a wedding dress in the time of a pandemic (summer 2020), as bridal shops are the kinds of businesses that need to have dates on their reviews. My mom and I got the last appointment of the sale. I didn't have too much of an idea of what I wanted, except that I didn't want the dress to look like it was eating me. I wanted to look at dresses by Pronovias in particular. For the record, I am not a small human and I was happy to report that all but one dress I tried on zipped up without incident. The staff helped me select five dresses to try on. While I was trying one on, Fatima came by and was showing me how to attach straps that she made. She asked me if I had any other contenders, and I told her about the second dress I tried on. She took one look at it and told me I needed to put it back on because it was way better. My instincts were correct. I put the other dress back on and fell instantly in love. It was at this point that my mom and I were given permission to remove our masks, and Fatima instantly recognized my mom from all of the times she and my dad brought clothes over to Thimble! Proving once again that if you like a business, you keep going back with a smile, because then you have the most fun you'll ever have trying on dresses. We bought the dress, and finalized our elopement within days. I came back to Silk for two more fittings. Bring your wedding shoes when you try the dress on for hemming purposes. This is required for all appointments. I kept my mask on at the fittings, which wasn't too big of a deal. I also purchased my bridal jewelry at Silk, and I seriously want to buy all of my fancy jewelry here from now on because I'm obsessed with their selection. Since we postponed our big reception, I'll get to wear the dress again in the future. I can't wait to wear it again. Fatima knows her stuff, as do the consultants. You'll get the dress of your dreams at Silk, I promise. Keep an eye out for sample sales, it's fate! I'm a newlywed and a Silk bride, and I couldn't be happier with the dress experience. After the 1st dress she stated 'oh this is the one' but she tried on the rest just tomake sure. 3rd dress it was!. After deciding they bring you over to a bigger rounded area for you to admire the dress, ring a bell, and say 'yes to the dress'. Naturally tears all around. After that she looked at plain veils (she's adding to it herself), shoes, and a few other items. Even know she wasn't going to buy one of their more costly veils they were helpful. On top of that, the experience felt disorganized. There wasn't anyone ready to assist me with fittings, and the staff didn't seem fully prepared. The most uncomfortable moment was when I was asked to take off my sweater near the front door for measurements. When I asked if I could be taken somewhere more private, like the back, it became clear that customer service wasn't a priority. Given all this, I felt unwelcome and decided to leave, though I appreciated the time they spent with me. They offer an array of sizes, and if you have a bridal party that is larger, they do carry some plus sized options. If they don't have the dress in the color you want, they will bring out swatches of the other colors the dress comes in. The seating area is nice for the party of moms and friends that come with you. This is way better than getting crammed into a room like David's. I think that the associates are very respectful of the given price ranges, and in our experience they didn't try to sell up.

Most were strapless and I am busty so strapless was not going to work, most of the other shops kept telling me I could add straps (which didn't feel like they would give the support I needed). I started a google search for plus size dresses and found one from MORI LEE that I loved online, I found that Bridal Belle had it in stock in a larger size than I needed but at least it wasn't smaller. When I went in my sister had a list of others she found online (as did I) and we gave them to the Consultant. The dress I came for was good, but not "THE ONE" however my sister and I both had another style from Mori Lee on each of our lists!! And as it turned out that was "THE ONE". Travelling the hour back and forth to Buffalo wasn't a big deal, they were always very accommodating and their location is right off the I390 so that made it easy. When the alterations needed to be done they made sure I was totally satisfied with every aspect of how the dress looked. I feel because it was a smaller non fancy shop they catered more to me then their needs. One of the fancy stores I went to made me feel like I didn't belong there (Like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman). I am a big girl and probably didn't fit their idea of a bride. But Bridal Belle was awesome from the first time I walked in, to the last day I walked out with my beautiful dress.
