Parotta (soo buttery and delicious), spinach paneer and pallipalayam chicken - such a rich and delicious lunch - got full on half!
    Charley B.

From the moment I walked in, the owner greeted me warmly and walked me through the menu. He offered 7 samples and explained the differences in Southern Indian cuisine compared to the Indian/Nepalese cuisine that most of us are used to. This is Southern Indian food, so don't expect naan - they serve parotta instead, and it was so delicious - flaky, buttery, slightly crisp on the outside, and soft inside. I ordered the Pallipalayam chicken and spinach paneer - the whole dish was warm, comforting, and full of flavor. I also sampled the chukka chicken, goat chukka, and eggplant - everything was good! The flavors are really rich and satisfying for a Chipotle style dining - feels like a home-cooked meal. And they made it palatable for everyone - not spicy, but bold and rich taste.

My Lord... what an exceptional find. The husband & wife owners are so welcoming & helpful with your food selection for those of us who are Indian food rookies. They also allow you to sample everything from their menu helping to confirm your selection. Five for exceptional food & service!

Love, love, love. Butter chicken. Spinach paneer. Fried cauliflower.

What a fantastic experience! I just dropped in here for a quick lunch. You can try EVERY flavor you desire to best suit your taste buds. Most dishes are fairly mild but the Chukka Shrimp had some nice heat to it, but is not overwhelming. It's an excellent opportunity to have a quick taste of India for lunch or dinner with mild enough options for even the faintest of heart.

Interesting food options. I think I'd like less rice and maybe add a little side of bread instead. I tried many samples before landing on a choice but I wish I'd gotten something more creamy and less spicy. The brown rice is a bit too spicy for my liking. Hopefully they add ice tea and a self serve drink station. When I went, the only diet choice was Diet Coke. I'm thinking decor might be added the longer they stay open. No real complaints but I'm not sure I'll go back.

I always get my paneer butter masala extra spicy and they deliver on the spice level - so beware of that! Great mango lassi, garlic naan, samosa chaat, veg Manchurian and other Indo-Chinese dishes. When I'm in the mood for a cozy and hearty feast, I think peppers and spices and soups and sauces and rice. Desi Chulha's menu is quintessential Indian cuisine. And one of my fave things about Indian food is that you often have something super savory and spicy paired with something cool and bright -- that contrast is just the best. Like the aloo tikka chaat, for example: perfectly boiled potatoes, onions, and all kinds of spices served piping hot alongside a mint-coriander yogurt sauce and chickpeas... Yes, please! And that's just a single appetizer. I'm a big fan of both the lentil and tomato soups, the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, aloo matar (potatoes & peas), saag paneer (spinach & Indian cheese), any kebab, and all of the rice! I plan to make my way through the entire menu (whatever is gluten free).

Fantastic Nepalese/Indian cuisine on Main Street!…read more We stopped by Karma and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is large with a nice bar area and the service was very friendly and efficient! Apps: Chili Momos (Veg) and Gobi Manchurian - the momos were super crispy and the sauce was very spicy in a good way! The Manchurian was so saucy and packed with flavor. Recommend both! Mains: Himalayan Thukpa, Palak Paneer, Malai Kofta - the Thukpa was the highlight! The broth was perfectly salty with a great umami taste. The Malai Kofta was rich and I enjoyed the cheesy koftas. The Palak Paneer was tasty, but I enjoyed the malai and thukpa more! Dessert: Pistachio Cheesecake - delicious! More like a pistachio ice cream cake, but it was so good and not too sweet! Overall, we really enjoyed our meal! Will absolutely be back!

We ordered a variety of dishes including dahi poori, vegetable pakora, paneer chili, gobi Manchurian, veg chili momo, paneer tikka masala, malai kofta, chow mein, and a naan bread basket. The appetizers were better than the North Indian dishes. The paneer tikka masala and malai kofta were on the sweeter side despite us ordering them medium spicy. The kofta balls were also on the smaller side, and the paneer tikka masala had very few pieces of paneer. The chow mein was the star of the meal. It was flavorful and definitely my favorite dish. For the pakora, they only gave a small amount of green chutney, so we had to ask for more along with some tamarind chutney. There's parking behind the restaurant, which was convenient. If you're in the mood for chaat or North Indian food, I would probably choose a different restaurant.

We had vegetarian dishes, malai kofta and mutter paneer, and they were genuinely surprisingly fabulous. They were cooked freshly, not from a pre-made pot. There are ways you can tell if it's really fresh. There are a lot of selections, and they're about 10%+ higher than the small university town we live in, and worth every darn dime. I'm seldom completely delighted, and the food here was great. The restaurant wasn't crowded on Wednesday-- and they should be. The cook is priceless. Give him/her/they a raise! I wish this wasn't my first time, or I'd recommend it without hesitation-- it was really, really good, and I'm a harsh critic. This was for dinner, and we have no experience with the buffet.

They give a daily soup during lunch, today was a vegetable corn soup. It was delicious, with good flavors without being too spicy. In fact the soup was so good that I decided to order their samosa as appetizer. The samosa's were also excellent, so many good flavors. It was served with a chutney sauce and another type of sauce. As the main entree I wanted to try something different than the typical Indian dishes that are the most common in the USA I ordered a vegetarian dish called Navratan Koorma. It's a mix of different vegetables in a creamy cashew sauce with rice and Naan bread. It was good and flavorful. The naan was bread was amazing, I've been to a few other restaurants in the area that have really unflavorful bread so this was nice. I was pretty full at the moment but felt like trying one dessert to have tried something from all parts of their menu and ordered Gulab Jamoon. An old classic, it was very good as well. It was slightly warm and freshly made and was a perfect end to the meal. The service was excellent throughout, the server gave me updates when one of the dishes were close to being ready. I thought the presentation was also very nice. I will definitely keep this restaurance in place next time I'm in the area.
