The owner is so friendly, always very welcoming and chatty and is genuinely interested in how you are. We had not booked a table and it is normally always quite busy, but we were seated immediately. We started with some poppadoms and then ordered the special meal deal- £12.50 for a starter, main dish, vegetable side and either rice or naan. It is great value for money. I had onion bhajia and my fellow diner had chicken chaat. We both ordered chicken razala for our main dish and shared mustard Bombay potatoes, sprouts with onion, pilau rice and a naan. We were stuffed! The meal was excellent. The curry was on the spicer side, but we had been made aware of that before ordering. I loved all the sauces and dips that come with the poppadoms! My favorite is the carrot, mango chutney and the other orange one, not sure of the flavor but it is amazing. Service is always excellent and I'm sure I will continue to come here for years to come when visiting London.

This gem is one that I visit at least 3X a month and it is my GO TO Curry House. The Sunday night 10 pound for starter, main and side cannot be beat as the dishes change every week and are always fresh. Muhdi (sp?) is so personable and has become someone I look forward to seeing when I dine there. His staff is so wonderful and he is very helpful in navigating through all of the cuisine. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

With new dishes regularly being introduced, you will definitely want to keep your sundays free for that yummy buffet! Two dishes I recently tried where the 'Chicken or Lamb Naga', which is a chicken or lamb marinated in a delicious homemade rich chilli sauce similar to the traditional jalfrezi, the other dish was the Murgh Shatkora, which is chicken cooked in a mouthwatering chilli lime sauce (AMAZING)! I can honestly say, I am looking forward to more wonderful new dishes from this eatery. The management and staff are their usual friendly warming helpful selves and as always a great place to come with friends and family. Book in advance as they do get rather busy!

Well this was an experience I can tell you! A friend of ours…read moresuggested Jaflong for a gathering as it was one of his regular curry places. It's a little out the way for us in Dulwich but I'm so glad we made the effort. 11 of us descended on Jaflong last night and we couldn't have been happier. The staff were incredibly friendly. After we were seated the offered us poppadoms with all the trimmings; I particularly liked the spicy line pickle which even the Auntie-in-law who "really likes spicy food" (ha!) thought was too hot. We had starters, of course. I had the Prawn Puree which is a personal favourite. It was a little doughy but the flavour was great. The wife had onion bharjis which she said were dry but would've been great if she'd liked any of the sauces available (she's a bit of a selective eater). Around the table various other starters were tried and no complaints were heard. By the time my main arrived I discovered that I may have overindulgence on the poppadoms and starters. The main I had was something I'd never seen before. It was called Pudina Gosht and it was amazing. Minted lamb cooked with honey, lemon and spices. It was a dark minty green and smelled fantastically fresh. As I was a bit full I just used my keema naan to mop up some sauce and took the rest home so I can relive it for lunch today. Others around the table tried the mixed grill which came to the table sizzling, chicken madras, chicken korai, saag bharji, various rices and breads. Everyone was really happy with. When the bill came I was shocked. £180 for 11 people!! I was expecting it to be well over £200. We'll definitely be going back to Jaflong again. It may not be soon but the wait will definitely be worth it. If you can get to Dulwich, go to Jaflong and indulge in some spectacular Indo-Bangladeshi cuisine.

It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

In my opinion, there are 2 main things to know about Dishoom: it's an Indian restaurant that is a chain, with 11 locations worldwide. The food is really good for a chain, bit it doesn't begin to come close to a restaurant that takes care of of its individual customers. Walking in, there's lots of energy. People are having a good time, there's no question. We were seated upstairs where there must have been around 40 tables. All of the staff are walking around in a hurry, cause everything here is in a hurry. The intention is to get you our in less than an hour. They want you in, through, and out. I saw this with multiple tables. Our server Yanko came to our table quite promptly and helped us make selections, both for food and drinks. For the first time in my experience eating in a restaurant, the appetizers arrived minutes before our cocktails. They came so fast that we didn't even think it was our order. And then moments after the drinks arrived, all of the main dishes and sides were placed on the table. With no way to keep anything warm. All of this with 10 minutes of placing the order. I appreciate prompt service, but this takes it to an absurd extreme. Our appetizers included the house Chaat and prawn koliwada. I enjoyed the prawns more but the flavors were facile, not close to what I expect and have enjoyed in excellent Indian restaurants. The main dishes were the Goan monkfish curry and Sali Goan. These were also just OK, absolutely nothing special. The cheese naan was soggy, though the flavor was good. This was an unacceptable texture for a naan. Dessert was Basmati Kheer, flavorful Basmati rice with fruit compote on top. In between and unneeded, was a thin layer of creme brulee. I did enjoy my tea: ginger, lemon and honey and my wife liked her mint tea. I do not know the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, we've been here for 4 days. But this is just not a place I'deven consider returning to. It's really a factory that feeds folks, not a restaurant that cares for its customers. The business model had been optimized to maximize income with lots of throughput. What's been almost completely lost in my opinion, is the heart and soul of the dining experience.
