The Madison Street Diner, located right inside the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center, opened in 2006. It's not a giant establishment, but is comfy and relaxing. No need to dress up - it's a casual environment, with booths and tables and adequate but not glaring, light. And, they're open till 10pm. The general atmosphere is of a clean, modern diner. Think "fancy Denny's". When we went, around 1 on a Monday or Tuesday, the place was almost vacant, so by my experience, I'd say the place is pretty quiet too. The menu had a nice selection of sandwiches and diner-esque type food. Enough selection to feel you have a good choice without being overwhelmed. Mostly sandwiches, soups, and salads. I, as is typical of someone with a burger fetish, ordered a basic cheeseburger. 'Tis one of those basic foods I judge new restaurants on based on a previous set bar in my head. The service was pleasant and everything we ordered arrived fairly quickly and tasted fine, though it wasn't spectacular. Just average. The prices were about average too - $7-$9 a plate. I really wanted to fall in love with Madison Street Diner being a locally owned non-chain eatery, but I didn't. I imagine they make most of their sales to hotel guests and those passing through. Because of the lack of sensational food, this is probably not a place I'll frequent. Everything else about the dining experience was nothing to deter me though and if you like basic diner food give it a try! read more

Had our first meal at the Diner as my wife and I are here for an extended stay. Prices were very fair but a very good deal if you purchase the vouchers at the hotel front desk where you receive a $15 voucher for $10. My wife had the beef kabob with vegetables and rice and I had the chicken fried steak with potatoes/gravy and a side salad. The beef kabob was tender with delicious vegetables. The chicken fried steak was one of the best chicken fried steaks I have had with great flavor. The side salad was fresh spring lettuce and tasty toppings. The best however was last. We ordered a piece of strawberry cake for dessert. It was one of the most moist and delicious cakes we have ever had and was only $2.99! Full bill with drinks and dessert was $30 including tax and tip. With our $5 off from our voucher made it $25. We will be back. Staff was friendly, personable and ready to help. read more

The food was Good, But Expensive for what was offered. The Madison Street Diner has instituted a new policy where the Gratuity is Included in the bill. So if the Service is Bad, the server still gets a large gratuity which is not right. If the service is bad, why do you have to pay for bad service. Stayed at this hotel and was delighted when i saw this lovely little diner. We settled in and headed down for a dinner. My wife had a turkey melt and i had a steak. Without taking to much of your time this food was excellent. The service by Princess was great! She was super pleasant and attentive. Must try if you stay here. read more

Nice place, unfortunately I never got to try the food. I met my girlfriend during her lunch break, which is an hour, here. They were not very busy at the time. We got waters and ordered our food and that was the last we heard from the waitress... for 40 minutes. We began looking around wondering where our food could possibly be. The waitress must've seen us start to act frantic. She came over and told us that the chef accidentally put gravy on something we requested to leave it off of. We informed her that my girlfriend needed it in a to-go box since she had to go back to work. She then said she was trying the best she could. Apparently this place is severely understaffed or she doesn't know what trying really is. I'd guess the latter considering she didn't check on us once after we ordered and they were not busy until later since the sense of urgency doesn't exist here. There was heavy traffic but it became busier because they were failing to get food out in a timely manner. We ended up leaving without our food. It was going to be my last meal with her before hitting the road, but instead I went back on the road with an empty stomach and she went back to work in the same state. We will NEVER be back. I have never left a diner after ordering, before receiving my food and paying until today. It's probably good that I did because I would feel terrible not leaving a tip. read more

I ate here twice while staying at the Ramada. This restaurant is located in the lobby. Both times the food was good but the service was less than acceptable. Both times there were only two waitresses working and it took forever for them to take your order. The food was out fast, but refills were non existent unless you were lucky enough to catch someone walking by and ask them for it. It also took forever to get a check, and then even longer for them to process it and bring the change. This place seriously needs to hire more people. These poor waitresses were just overwhelmed. read more

this is a great place to grab lunch downtown. located in the lobby of the Ramada, its easy to get to. the staff is friendly and the service is fantastic. I haven't been disappointed with anything that's come out of the kitchen. It's nor huge, but rather cozy. read more

Underwhelming, chicken strips were fake compressed chicken. White gravy was dark brown and tasted burnt. Also turkey melt said sour dough, came on Texas toast. Out of BBQ at noon. Just an over all disappointing experience. read more

worst service waited 15 minutes to have our waiter take out order when there is less than 10 ten people in the restaurant then our order of a simple burger was messed up onion rings driped with grease water and all cups were empty. Throughout the meal would never come here again read more

Five in party. Walked in at 12:11pm on Friday, and were seated immediately. Ordered within minutes. Only four tables in the place were occupied. At 1:11, our lunch was finally served. About a minute after she set the plates down, the waitress returned with three plates of french fries, ''because the fries I brought with your meals are old.'' No explanation as to why it took almost an hour to get four sandwiches and some factory-made, reheated chicken strips. We ate quickly since the exceptionally slow service had already made us late for an event. The waitress cleared all the unoccupied tables around us and then disappeared into the kitchen. She never came back to see if we needed anything, and did not bring the bill. We waited quite a while with no sign of her. Eventually, we went and stood at the bar with the one bar patron, and after several minutes she finally came out of hiding to collect our money. read more
