Most would probably say this park has nothing to offer. I however found it to be amazing. The…read morehighlights for me are the stone work left from the remains of the old Leaksville Cotton Mill and the Barnett Canal with the waterfall hidden behind the stone walls. I walked around taking some images of the stone works and then heard the waterfall and climbed through an old window-way through the stone wall and found an amazing waterfall. It is worth a visit. I hope someone cleans up the broken beer bottles and trash that I saw. Next visit I'll have to bring my bucket and grabber to get some of the junk up that can be a detraction to such an amazing place. I'm posting some images from my visit.

You can't swim in the deep end due to divers which is a bummer. Only during the adult swim time. I understand it's for safety but the other section crowds fast due to this. I would come back on a weekday at opening to avoid super crowds. I came on a Monday for 3 hours and that was enough for me (due to crowding) Snack bar is cash only.

The young brunette at the front desk was very helpful, recommending which trails to prioritize based on what I wanted to see, and clarifying the difficulty levels of the trails. I chatted with a local regular who was also very friendly. Free parking, clean restrooms, water fountains, and clear signage to all the trails; this is a perfect rally point to make a full day out of exploring Hanging Rock. Don't skip the deck at the back--beautiful view with tables, would make a good picnic spot!

From the sign/arrow that points at window rock, climb down and you will see the window in the rock to your right. Through the window, you can see a waterfall! Didn't see a page for this place yet, so decided to make one so I can recommend it to everybody!…read moreIf you're looking to get outside, get some activity, fresh air, something good for the kids, or even just a place to catch some zen either alone or with a partner, this is the perfect place! It's about 2 miles total in hiking, so not very grueling, but the terrain does vary quite a bit throughout. The trails are chock full of inclines, declines, and roots to navigate. There is also an "easier" trail (which is considered moderate by trail standards around these parts) and a red marked trail. We stayed on the regular trail with the kids and had a fine time enjoying our stroll through nature. Some areas of the trail are rather narrow, and the entire place is well shaded during the summertime, making this a great place to come even on the hottest and most humid of days. No sunscreen needed! While I do have to admit that the "cascade" was a little underwhelming compared to what I had pictured in my mind's eye, the trickling sound of water always makes for the most tranquil of moments. This place is another deserving mention on the list of absolutely beautiful nature places to check out in the Triad!
