There is a skate park and a disc golf course in this park as well as a large pavilion. There are (steep) steps up to the road just behind the Virginia Museum of Natural History. The actual hiking path is rather steep also. In our group, those that could not manage a steep hike used the pave roads to cover the same distance.

And the arboretum may as well be the central Jewel in the crown. This space is an endless amble filling the otherwise unused, hilly gaps of in-between. There are gravel, mulch, dirt and paved pathways intermingled with themed spaces, specialty gardens, groves of large native trees, plenty of benches, shaded and sunny spaces alike, and an assortment of artistic installations. It connects neighborhoods to baseball diamonds and wide open multi-use fields. There are places to picnic the day away or watch the kids burn energy on the playground. And best of all, it's completely free and easily accessible from multiple points along the perimeter. If you are looking to spend a quiet Sunday de-stressing before a new work week, I can't recommend this place more!

The City and Police allowed a CMV to be operated by a City of Eden employee for years.The employee…read more(Michael Vernon) had six wrecks and was never ticked by City of Eden Police, even though he had no CMV license in all six "at fault" wrecks. The SEVENTH wreck, Vernon strikes 7 electrical linemen, killing 4 people and seriously injured 3 more. The City of Eden stole one of my most precious friends, Mattie Lockwood, who has been my friend since childhood. Mattie and I went through scouting and church together, every summer stayed at each other's houses, chose to join the military on the same canoe trip, and maintained the close friendship through deployments, raising a family, and life. He was an honorable man and by far one of the most loyal people I have ever met. Mattie would have willingly laid down his life for others. Instead, Mattie laid dead, bleeding out in the street for nothing; which could have been prevented SIX TIMES. Shame on the officer(s) who swore to protect those in their jurisdiction and never charged Vernon the previous six times. You and Vernon stole Mattie, one of the few good guys that still existed on this planet. I guess you have to commit murder to in Eden to receive a traffic citation as an employee....pure dereliction of duty. SHAME.
