Maxol Filling Station
This filling station is, to sum it up, a bloody nightmare if you just want to get some fuel and go,…read morelike most filling stations it has a shop attatched, and although they probably make more money from the shop that they do in fuel, they would need to sort the infrastructure out a bit, Picture the scene, van with 3 hi-viz clad blokes pulls in at the pump, one bloke puts fuel in whilst the other two sit there, then all three go into the shop and spend the next 15 minutes wandering round the place before getting someone to make them a sausage and bacon soda. Repeat this for every pump and you get the picture. On top of this, the queues at the till are quite slow due to the amount of rigmarole surround fuel cards that everybody seems to use, then they pay seperately for their Daily Sport, Red Bull and 20 Regal whilst you quietly fume. All in all, best avoided during a weekday unless you're running on fumes!
Go
Welcome to the future! Forget queueing up at the pumps or the cash registers to pay for your fuel,…read morejust go to Go! If you haven't been to one of these garages yet you're missing a trick! The fuel is as cheap as any of the other garages out there and you can be in and out in 5 minutes, plus it's 24 hour! The reason I used this service was because the other garage I go to was closed as it was after 11pm. The self service machines are easy to operate and while you're filling up your car the touch screen monitor plays a video explaining where your fuel was sourced from and how it got to you. I actually found this interesting - turns out Go provide the fuel for all of norther Ireland's buses and train so it must be good. There's loads of pumps so you won't have to wait and as previously stated the fuel is exactly the same price as the high street rivals (Tesco's, Asda etc). I can't think of a reason not to give Go five stars!

The 'shop' that accompanied this station has been removed which has allowed them to keep fuel prices competitive. One word of advice, if exiting to go in the Belfast direction, you will be crossing over a busy dual carriageway, so drive with care!

The other two are Maxol stations with modern Spar stores joint on whereas this garage is a little bit old school, with a smaller more personal local shop attached. There are six pumps here selling unleaded and diesel, they also have a vacum service as well as an air machine for altering the pressure in your car - the air machine takes coins (20p) so there's no need for tokens or to even go in to the shop if you wish to use this service. The shop is paypoint friendly meaning you can top up your gas and electric here - they also serve a small selection of hot pastries and everything else you'd expect from a local corner shop. There's often great food deals on - the counter next to the checkout has the best bargains. The staff are fantastic here, always ready for a chat and generally pretty chirpy! It's next door to a chippy and a chemist too! No ATM at this garage but they are okay about using card for smaller transactions! Needs modernised slightly but does the job just fine!
Handy filling station before hitting the M2 (Unless you choose to go to the new M2 service…read morestation.). It's one of the newer unmanned stations where you require just a debit card for payment. It's generally 1/2 pence cheaper than the other stations in the area. It's also got an automatic care ash onsite which costs roughly £4 (I think)
