If I could give more than 5 stars I really would. This was the first time we have ever had to hire someone for tree removal as first time homeowners and the wonderful team at Made in the Shade were so patient and helpful through the whole process. From the consultation to finishing the job, the whole crew were wonderful. We received 3 independent quotes and Made in the Shade stood out for many reasons. Their partnership with the Tucson Zoo to take African Sumac branches to feeding the animals, their polite nature, their wealth of information, and patience while answering my many, many questions. Every single member of their crew involved in the job were polite, wonderful, and had a great sense of humor. They were incredibly thoughtful in their work, being respectful of our home, and went above and beyond with taking care to work around our grumpy desert tortoise. They removed a large palm tree, a stubborn olive tree stump, an African sumac, and a cypress. These trees were either dying, causing damage to retaining walls, or potential threats if fallen over in a storm. After the crew came out it doesn't even look like any of these plants were there. Made In The Shade Tree Service is one of the best companies in Tucson I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I saw the company at a home in a neighborhood I conduct business in. I had been looking for a company for some time to trim six of my mesquite trees, one California pepper tree, and two pine trees. I gave the company a call and spoke with a very nice man named Danny. We scheduled an appointment for him to come out to look at the work to be done and provide an estimate. He was very kind to set up an appointment that met both of our schedules and within a timely manner where I didn't have to wait months. I was so happy to hear he was willing to come out to physical look at the trees versus conducting an aerial view from a desk. Danny came out and took pictures of the trees, provided recommendations for each tree, and educated me on the care for the trees. Once the meeting was over, he provided me an estimate within two days. Not only was that refreshing but so was how detail oriented the estimate was. It listed everything we discussed along with an itemized list and the pictures he took while on site. He did provide aerial pictures too that he took with a drone after visiting the site. The pricing was very fair. We signed the proposal and were able to set up for the work to be done. They were very accommodating to our schedule. The project would take three days. Two days to trim all the trees and one day to come out for an hour to treat the trees. All three days the crew communicated with us as to when they would show up. In addition, they were courteous and did an amazing job with the trees. They also ensured the area was cleaned up after each day of work. I have dogs and needed to let them out to go potty. They were so kind to take a break when I needed to let them out. Once the job was completed, they sent an invoice promptly and even were willing to come by to pick up payment and provide a receipt. They even gave me a discount for paying cash. Thank you Made In The Shade for providing excellent service and making the process simple. Dan and his crew arrived this morning as scheduled. It was great that Dan came with the group and walked them through the day's plan which included trimming over 15 trees, each requiring a different approach based on the tree's overall health, and needs. Travis, his group leader was extraordinarily knowledgeable about handling mesquite trees and added a significant amount of practical experience to Dan's technical expertise as a certified arborist. The crew was friendly, cooperative and very efficient. We also had the trees fertilized with a "cocktail" of organic chemicals to strenthen the root growth, enhance foliage growth and make the ground more amenable to future development. Clean-up was exceptional and it was a real pleasure to have them on the property. I would highly recommend them--Dan and Travis really understand the needs of these desert trees and offered a pragmatic and systematic approach to their future management. We just had Made in the Shade trim about a dozen mesquite trees and several palo verdes in our yard that hadn't been touched in over 5-8 years. Danny Crosby gave us a reasonable bid, and scheduled our huge job to start within a week or so after we accepted the bid. We couldn't be happier with the quality of the work done. Danny's team of 4-5 guys spent 4 days carefully pruning the overgrown trees, removing mistletoe, dead branches, and weight from overly long branches while still maintaining a healthy full-looking canopy that we had requested. His team also cleared the underbrush from a small wash on our property and trimmed the native mesquites there into healthy looking trees. Cleanup was superb. Dan and his crew did a wonderful job of pruning two large mesquites that had never been trimmed properly. They also recommended fertlizer ans soil amendments for my citrus trees. We were so fortunate to find this company and it's amazing employees. Dan Crosby came out, looked at our older tree that needed some healthy guidance and pruning, gave me an estimate and we set up a time for the work. When that time came, his employees showed up on time and ready to work. These two men were polite, dealt with our difficult neighbor whose yard they had to enter (with her permission), trimmed the tree to guide it's growth and clean it up, cleared away all the debris and raked the neighbors back yard and ours. They ran the trimmings through their chipper shredder and raked our front yard too. When they left everything looked better and the tree was happy. It's been a full growth season since and the tree has been happier than ever before. We cannot imagine how it could have been any better.
