The food is a bit overpriced for what it is, and maybe somewhat bland (which is possibly quite…read moretypical of Hungarian cuisine- I have no idea), but otherwise the ambiance was pleasant. I had the pea soup (which is not the fanciest thing on the menu.) The waiter (who is also one of the proprietors it seems?) actually talked my friend out of ordering an extra main dish, on the basis that the main dish he ordered would be big enough to satisfy. And it turned out to be true... However, if this business does badly on a purely financial level, you will know why! A good place to have a chat with a friend, or for a first date. Nothing seems to last very long in this location, so check it out before it disappears.

I had called and booked a table, which wasn't necessary at 7pm, but by the time we left at 9pm the place was quite full. The service started quick, but after we finished we struggled for around 45 minutes to get the bill. Luckily we had a lot to talk about. We ordered some herbal teas, a soup each to start, and for the main course we shared a pickled cucumber salad, potatoes and the Hungarian stew. The food, at least for my part, was quite disappointing. The £6 vegetable soup, was just (seemingly frozen) peas and carrots in a vegetable broth. My friend seemed to enjoy her chicken soup, so we were doing ok until the main arrived. The potatoes were actually great! But I couldn't stomach much of the cucumber salad, another pricey choice at around £4 for pickled cucumber and a tablespoon of yogurt. What really got me, was the Hungarian stew. I'm a vegetarian, so when our waiter asked if we wanted the additional sausage topping, we said 'no,' naturally. Despite this, the dish came with sausage. By this time, restaurant had become busier, our waiter didn't return to ask how our meal was and we couldn't get his attention. When it came to finally receiving the bill, we told him about the issue, but he disputed. He told us we did order it, though he 'thought it was strange' we didn't eat any of it, and so proceeded to charge us for it. He even made a comment like 'if you had told me you didn't want it, I wouldn't eaten it,' what?! That's a pretty strange thing to say. It's a massive shame, as I'd seen this place around for a while and I really wanted to like it. I still love the shop-restaurant setup and the picnic themed tables and plants. I can really get behind the lifestyle they're representing, but I don't think I'd ever go back, unless it's just for the potatoes.

Ok as the first person to register this hotel restaurant in the heart of Park Lane, I would like to…read moresay foremost that the food here was adequate enough to go by but don't be fooled with he copious offering for lots of steak and salad as specified on the Amazon Local offer. This venue is typical of a 3/4* hotel restaurant - its decor seems very impressive once you go inside with a large lobby and waiting area with spacious places to sit in the restaurant which occupies half the ground space. It is a large, bright and airy room with a large buffet down the length of one side. The decor is intended to replicate a New York deli with stained glass panels and old photographs on the wall. Today it was very quiet with only about three tables on a Sunday so if this is as busy as it gets its very very quiet so it may not perhaps be popular. There are lots of random cricket statues pulling silly faces and USA celebrity photos with the odd flowers on tables but how it represents an American Deli restaurant beats me as it was deserted and quiet, with virtually no atmosphere. The set table menu was rather limited in choice rather very disappointingly in fact as I expected more choice from the advertising photos on Amazon website. As far as the choice, you only get 3 for each, with a limited choice for the starters, I went for the beef and mushroom pie which was nicely presented and tasted okay, cold but plausible. For the main course it was the most disappointing in choice, I think the best one was the beef steak with chips and even then you had to pay an extra 5 pounds, so an extra marketing catch from the initial 20 pounds we paid. Other than that, the portion didn't justify the cost but the steak was cooked well but nothing to shout about with the chips being the same. The beer we had was reasonable, nothing to really say about that. The choice of desserts was pretty poor aswell, I opted for the banoffee pie pudding with a generous dollop of vanilla ice cream this was very nice and rich in flavour, and was probably the best part of the dish. The staff here were very attentive and helpful but that's because there were only 3 tables with the rest empty and they seem to keep themselves busy. All in all, a nice decor hotel restaurant let down with deceiving offers and very limited set menus and hit and miss food.

When we arrived, only a couple of tables were seated and the atmosphere was overall pretty dull. We ordered and the tea and sandwiches came quick. Scones seemed microwaved, nothing seemed fresh or made to order. There's plenty of other afternoon places to go to in the area instead.

We added a non-alcoholic beverage pairing and opted out of the supplemental dishes. For the most part the drinks were paired so well with all the dishes except there was one green drink that was Extremely bitter. It was NOT drinkable :( Similarly, the majority of the dinner courses were great as well except one of the sashimi bites at the beginning - way too fishy. My favorites included the bread and dessert courses! Apart from food, the service was really attentive which I always appreciate. I remember accidentally spilling something on myself and there was a server instantly ready to offer me a moist towel so that it didn't stain!

The service is fantastic and each one of the employees quite artful in their service manner. But the food is such a mediocre. It was just an eclectic wonderful idea that some fit and some didn't. I definitely think they need a separate dessert and patisserie chef because I literally rejected most of the desserts after a bite. The ambiance is fantastic. I have been to similar ambiance and eclectic restaurant with michelin stars in japan and it was worth paying about 400 dollars but this place has 2 michelin stars and definitely not worth it.
