Due to its location in the basement and the lack of modern acoustics, it was a little on the noisy side. I was thrilled that the chef's daily special was Shepherds Pie. My Irish ancestory kicked in and I had the special. The Sample Room's take on Shepherd's Pie was excellent. I also had an appetizer of Gizapaco (their take on gazpacho) which was also quite good. My wife had the Reuben with fries which was also great. The service was good, the decor and atmosphere was historic and we had a great time. Would definitely stop here again.

This restaurant is small and family-owned, with lots of tables to sit at and spread out. One thing they need to consider fixing: They have one restroom, and there's no lock on the door! And the restroom is located in the middle of the dining room. I visited the restroom and prayed that no one would come in while I was in there (no one did, luckily). I'm hoping they get that lock situation fixed soon.
