We attended a wedding party in the evening at St Peters and Spiros were the cateres. I had heard…read moregood things mentioned so was looking forward to the food but if Im honest there were things they could do to improve. Im hoping any criticism will be constructve as overall the buffet was fair. Sandwhiches offered were great in variety but the bread was very dry, however my biggest issue was that they put the entire variety of sandwhiches on one big platter meaning with 150 people trying to grab food as quickly as possible you ended up grabbing sandwhiches that you didnt like. The exact same thing happened with the wraps they offered, all put on one platter mixed in. I took tuna and couldnt eat and hubby took cheese and didnt eat as the menu cards said coronation chicken (im sure they were in there somewhere). They did have a young man standing behind the platters but he said nothing. All in all the food was ok for buffet food but needs to be better organised on the serving tables. Would have meant we would have had some food and not have wasted what we did have. I would eat there again no problem but only if I can see exactly what im eating as I hate to waste food. Servers in st peters and spiros were all immaculately dressed and very attentive in clearing away. I also think the venue of st peters was lovely and we had a great night.

Elin Wyn Williams, the owner of Bant A La Cart Delicatessen, wasn't in when I called the other day…read morefor a chat. She was off delivering food to one of the film crews working on location in Cardiff. This has been a more common occurrence over the last two or three years. The film industry has pushed a little further West and has moved the majority of its productions to Welsh soil, leaving cities like Bristol to their own devices. There have been economic reasons to justify such a wholesale departure. Location shoots in Wales are significantly cheaper, as are all of the allied services that go into putting together TV and film productions. So, with fierce economic pressure, amid the backdrop of global recession, production houses and film companies are doing it on the cheap these days... that is to say, they're saving money on everything but the food! Bant A La Cart has managed to scoop up most of the catering contracts within this new Welsh growth industry. With a reputation for excellence, a broad choice of epicurean delights, and the ability to deliver an unparalleled service, it's small wonder that the Directors opt to sooth the fraying nerves and damaged ego's of their starlets with victual balm from Bant's.

Beats the supermarket any day!

This is a brilliant deli, somewhat incongruously part of the gay bar next door to it…read more The food is just delicious, great for a quick bite to eat if you're in a rush. It is also good for food that you want to spend a LITTLE longer on, like jacket potatoes. The prices are quite reasonable in some parts and not quite so brilliant in others. My salad was £3.50 but I had to have a salad because the jacket potatoes (not that big and with fillings that didn't look that great) were £4.50. You do have to search for this deli, because it is a little way down Churchill Way, itself off Queen Street. But do go out of your way to try it. And then head to the bar next door.

Wow Deli offers a range of tasty food to hungry customers on the run. There's no place to sit here,…read moreso it's the perfect spot to grab a quick bite to eat; you can even place an order in advance by phone (use the standard number) if you're in a hurry. The variety is the main draw here - and Wow Deli have just added a new collection of sandwiches including a "Crabdaddy Crab" and "Posh Fish Fingers" to accompany the usual offering of jacket potatoes, curries, salads, quiches and homemade soups. The counter was manned by a trio of hipsters who were slicing and chopping (with gloves on - yes, I notice these things and am extremely grateful) when I walked in. Overall, I found the food to be fresh and delicious, but my Yankee heart belongs to New York Deli; I would definitely go back again because I love anywhere where your sandwiches are made to order. Actually, I'm not sure I'd be in a hurry to come back here because it was so hot inside the shop, I felt the need to bail as soon as I walked in. I'm sure that'll change come autumn, but it was uncomfortable and a bit off-putting as it made me question how the food can withstand such conditions.
