Boston Tea Party - Ham and bacon muffin

At BTP, you will find the most sandwich and full-bodied semi-sweet pancakes you will ever eat in your life. Flavoured with a cascade of maple syrup, they will be the perfect match for the fried bacon with which they are served. Tired of avocado toast - let's face it, I can do it myself at home, without spending nine effing pounds - I wanted to try the famous eggs Benedict. Accompanied by two slices of sourdough toast bread and hollandaise sauce they were fire! I also wanted to add some bacon just to keep it light... because why not?! I was expecting classic American bacon in thin, crunchy and super scorched strips, but I think this is the English version: thick and almost rounded slices, more like a slice of meat, but still delicious af. The meat was tender and cooked evenly, nicely browned at the edges.

The menu includes a vegan dish in every category. Along with veggie options, and meat too! I ordered the vegan veggie breakfast for under £7. My partner ordered the vegan banh mi. After we ordered we headed outside to their beautiful outdoor garden. They claim to have the largest on park street. There was a lot of seating in the sun and the shade. Our food came out in a timely matter and was absolutely delicious. They veggie breakfast was so tasty! The only thing I'd change would be to add a vegan sausage or avocado in place of the missing egg from the standard veggie breakfast. The banh mi was perfect as is! We finished our food and soaked up some son. Everything about our experience was enjoyable and we will definitely be returning!

Unfortunately, when I went they ran out of hoagies so I had to get it in a bagel but it was packed to the BRIM. Although when you look at the prices you might grimace at it seeming expensive, because of the generous portions the prices are well worth it. This is more than just a simple sandwich people!!! 4 stars because the bagel itself was just alright but the fillings were delicious. However, I do have it in my mind that I have to come back and try some of their hoagies. Don't skip over this place! Overstuffing your face is what the good ol' USA is all about!

Yet I'm pretty sure that when faced with the deli delights, like myself - you would struggle and ask for a takeaway. TIP: Try and get your hands on a menu prior to visiting as when faced with all the options and ingredients you're likely to panic pick! Rookie's Guide: Choose your bread, Choose your spread, Choose your fillings, Choose your Salad! On my last visit I had the Reuben: Salt Beef, Swiss Cheese, Coleslaw with the addition of Jalapenos - £3.90. *please take moment to appreciate the magnitude of the meat to bread ratio* Delicious yet ridiculously filling - The New York Deli is open 7 days a week. They slice ALL their meats and cheese daily, support local charities AND use local suppliers for just about everything. They even deliver if you order before 10am!

However, don't let that put you off. Whilst it does have a full lunch and dinner menu breakfast/brunch is probably what it does best. On weekend mornings, you'll see it chock-a-block with people having smoked salmon bagels and cappuccinos, and this is the best time to visit. The evening meals are delicious though. The place is candle lit in the evenings too, transforming making for a quite intimate experience. This really has got the fundamentals of a good restaurant exactly right. The service is as sharp as anywhere else I've been recently, and you can see that plenty of attention has been given to the interior design. All the food I've had has been delicious. Having gushed about it I should warn that it's certainly not cheap, which is unsurprising given the location (Clifton Village) and probably explains the clientèle. An evening meal for five tops out at over a hundred pounds - this is somewhere for special occasions, or just when you're feeling rich. A piece of toast and a coffee won't cost that much though, so go for breakfast if you haven't got a spare fifty quid lying around in your wallet. Certainly don't pass it up completely just because of the prices, it's a delightful place that's should be on the list of places to go of anyone visiting in Bristol.

The food on offer is everything you'd expect from a cafe and more. In the morning you've got full English's, sarnies and bagels. There are daily specials for lunch and you can grab a roast on a Sunday. It's also worth noting that as long as you're eating there's alcoholic drinks on offer with a selection of bottles of Butcombe, wine and all your classic mixers. My wife and I went for breakfast after wanting to check it out since it opened just before Christmas. We had a pot of tea each, Alice went for a salmon and cream cheese bagel and I had a bacon and mushroom sandwich (the option of a mushroom in a sandwich wasn't on the menu but they were more than happy to accommodate!). I also had an orange juice. All the food was good quality, the sandwich came with thick bacon and crusty door stop bread and Alice was more than happy with the bagel. The tea came out served in vintage crockery. The orange juice came from concentrate but considering the whole lot came to £9 you can't really grumble. My only gripe was the quality of the mustard that accompanied my sandwich, this was no Colmans! Don't scrimp on your condiments! All in all a good cheap meal had in a cozy setting at the Kingfisher and the service was friendly and accommodating. The place does have a work in progress feel to it but we had a very nice breakfast and will definitely be returning. It's a little different than most options in Fishponds and something the area has been crying out for, for a while.

It didn't disappoint and I think it it can only get better. The place is quirky, homely and full of a mush mash of random furniture. There is also a little kids section with a few toys, games and books, this was a massive plus for me as it's often hard to keep a young child entertained for the length of a meal. The counter is laden with fresh home made cakes and a large board displays what's on offer. I only really paid attention to the breakfast options as went for that purpose. The prices are pretty reasonable, I had scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon which was £5. The bread was lovely thick cut granary bread, the eggs done really well and a generous helping of smoked salmon on top. It looked pretty rustic but did the job perfectly. My partner had the full English (£7.50) and was very complimentary. This was all washed down with a coffee which was really good. I'm definitely looking forward to going back and hope to try the roast very soon.

We ended up in the garden at the back because, despite October, it was still sunny and a bit of a sun trap. We had two dogs with us and they were more than happy to accommodate them; I think even if we had wanted to sit inside. We both ordered the same; smoked salmon bagel and a glass of prosecco each. Considering that we were one of two occupied tables in the entire place it took quite a long time for it to arrive; the drinks came out first and whilst I wasn't expecting the best glass of bubbly, I think it would have benefitted from being a lot colder. Eventually the food came out and I just get the feeling that actually the bagel had been sat for a while, it wasn't a crisp toasted bagel as I had expected and was a bit soggy, which was a bit of shame. But - the wait staff were super friendly, it's in a convenient location and it wasn't too expensive; but definitely caters more towards the tourist crowd. Maybe it was just a bit of an off day - I'd like to try it again to see :)
