We thought we'd give this place a try as we were in Cabot Circus and we weren't disappointed! The place itself has a bit of a diner kinda feel, it's relaxed and was relatively busy when we went. Burgers range from a fiver for small, basic beef or chicken and up to about £12 for bigger portions or some interesting meats and styles... The prices don't include chips... Sides come in at around £2-£3 each. The burgers were absolutely lovely, the mister had The Don and I was in 'one of those' moods so I fancied the Falafel burger and we were both really impressed. Mine came with a really lovely spicy salsa, plenty of salad and garlic mayo and the falafels were great! As burgers go, these were pretty darn good but I would have expected that as they are a bit pricey-er than a walk-in burger joint. We had super skinny fries and onion rings as sides but we needn't have got both! The onion rings were HUGE! The food was great but there were a couple of things that lowered the mark for me... Firstly, no draught beers - not so bad for me, but certainly for the other half and people alike. Secondly, you have to order at the bar for food.... This wasn't obvious and we ended up sitting like lemons for a while! Thirdly (and this might not be everyone's view) the super skinny fries were a bit ridiculous! You can't really eat them with any kind of grace, just grab and handful and collapse them into your mouth (!!) and they are rubbish for dipping... They remind me of those really skinny chip crisps you used to be able to buy. I'll order chunky next time! Couple more pluses.. The soft drinks menu is good, I had the strawberry and elderflower fizz and it came with free refills which was lovely... And if you are a nut-lover you get free monkey nuts! Winner! Gourmet Burger Kitchen - The Don at the front and Falafel at the back - Burgers Near Me - Bristol, BST

Although it certainly beats its high street fast food rivals in terms of quality the 'Gourmet' in its name is misleading. Most of the burgers on offer are similarly priced to pub burgers and marginally better quality but considering burger and fries for two with a coke each came in at £25 i seriously expected something amazing. There is a large choice and some nice combinations on offer, they had run out of my first choice of Buffalo so I settled on the Chorizo burger. The burgers are well packed, the chorizo was suprisingly quite good as was the relish. On the other hand the sweet potato was cold, there was the equivalent of a supermarket pack of rocket dumped on top of the meat and the chips were average pub food. Despite being 'gourmet' you order and pay at the counter and the place has a distinctly cafe feel about it but the staff were all friendly. I'm unlikely to visit again read more

This is my go-to place if my legs feel abit too lazy to walk to the Park Street branch of GBK! I've been here so many times that when the waitress comes over and asks 'Have you guys been here before?', I do a snort and a giggle before answering 'Probably too much'. It is always friendly here - I have never been here before and had bad service. Came here for dinner last night, and the new Spring menu has started, which brought back the Jamaican burger, a new Pesterella (awesome name), and a chicken Babaganoush burger!! I decided to opt out of the burgers and stick to a salad this time round, and had the Butternut Squash salad with feta and various leaves, and it was scrumptious. Also, when I have a side of chips, squeezing the giant tomato ketchup holder gives me unending glee. Check their website for offers before you come here- and sign up for their newsletters because they don't send you anything annoying through your email - unless you count 2 for 1 printable vouchers annoying! Not cheap, but then you get what you pay for. We enjoyed the food, the staff were very friendly and the joint was clean. Even though there was nothing to keep the kids entertained, they said it was the best place they'd been to for food and want to come all the time. "now we know what a proper burger should be like, we don't want to go to mac***ds ever again" Not a totally fair thing to say, but that's kids for you. I had the Kiwi, which was filling & impossible to hold. Non of us could finish our burgers. Unlike everyone else in the place who shovelled theirs away. We felt quite inferior! The Onion rings are a work of art and taste great. Well worth £2, the chips are darn good too. I reckon they are freshly made, my wife argued they were frozen. I'm pretty sure I'm right. If you do eat here and do a review, don't go complaining about the price (like some other sad reviewers). You can see how much the food is before you order. Trust me, this is not some grey patty on a stale bun, it's quality grub. You want cheap, you know where to go, follow the lardies. You don't have to pay for the good stuff. For any of you thinking of visiting GBK, do it! I was very skeptical before I went in because I'm not really a burger kind of person. I hate all that grease dripping onto your plate and the thought of mayonnaise sends shivers down my spine. However, GBK burgers are neither greasy nor mayonnaisy (unless you want that of course). I have to say that the chicken satay burger is quite possibly the best burger I have ever tried. The burgers here are so big (height and breadth wise) that they have several cocktail sticks poked though to hold it together. In fact if you can eat the entire thing without your knife and fork I take my hat off! The only thing which lets GBK down is that chips are not included in the price, however I can barely eat an entire burger anyway so I don't mind too much. TOP TIP: sign up to their newsletter online and there are always buy -one-get-one-free deals which mean burgers are only £4 each - bargain! read more

I do really like this place. There is a burger design for everyone. Food is very tasty and i really love the super skinny fries. I do feel though that some of the burgers are too big and collapse into a heap on the plate. You should be able to pickup a burger with your hands without getting covered in it. Really excellent new branch of the posh burger company, located opposite to Yo! Sushi on the upper level of the new Cabot Circus development. The restaurant is light, airy and very pleasant. The food is excellent, although the burgers are a struggle to eat as they are really piled high with fillings. You may have to use a knife and fork, which seems all wrong but using your hands is doomed to disaster! The milkshakes are gorgeous and seemingly endless as you get two and a half glasses out of the metal canister. I especially love the tomato shaped squeezy ketchup bottles. read more

My first visit to GBK and I have to say it's the best burger I've ever had!! I wasn't keen at first as I had visions or macdonalds or Burger King but GBK blow them out the water!! The food was fresh and so tasty! Cooked to my preference! It was blimmin gorgeous!! I don't think it was too expensive considering the quality. The staff were great and the restaurant was spotless! Literally just made a Yelp account to leave this. Went into the restaurant a few weeks previous as my mom who was visiting wanted to try it (I've personally never been a fan) and she loved the burger. Ok, great. Today after a long day of walking in the freezing rain all my mom could talk about was the great burger she had. With restaurants only doing takeout I wanted to treat her so I order delivery from GBK. Mom ordered a medium burger and I a medium-rare, what arrived were two black, burned, overcooked burgers. Like so black even my cat wouldn't eat it. Never seen a burger so burnt that wasn't cooked from my own terrible kitchen! Completely inedible, the entire burger just tasted horribly burnt, had to just throw it away. Why they were ever sent out I have no idea! And paying close to £10 for each!!! A joke. I often find myself wandering the streets of Bristol, unable to make my mind up as to where to go for dinner. After about half an hour or so, I usually give up and head over to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen. To my mind, you generally can't go wrong with a decent burger and with the range of options available at this place, you're guaranteed to find something to satisfy. Apart from the vast selection of meaty burgers available, there are also quite a few veggie options, so there really is something for everyone. The burgers are huge - they don't come with chips, but by the time you've finished you'll be stuffed anyway. This particular branch is located on the Glass Walk in Cabot Circus. This means that if you get a table on the left hand side of the restaurant, you're ideally situated to watch the world below pass by. read more

This was a favourite spot of mine for staff lunches when I worked near Castle Park. We'd rack up the buy one get one free vouchers from one of those online voucher code sites and end up enjoying a scrumptious burger, fries and a glass of vino for about £7 or £8. What more do you want from a lunch break? As well as a staggering number of meat burgers there are a good few veggie burgers including one with butternut squash (my most favourite vegetable in the whole world). Veggie burgers can be well boring and very lentil based. These aren't they're full of taste and almost as tall as me. Granted, they can't really be eaten very easily as a burger (they're almost as tall as me for pete's sake) but you won't lose anything by eating them with a knife and fork. The concept for the ultimate burger aka GBK- was set up nearly 8 years ago with the desire to fill a void in stomachs of all kiwi males it seems. Started by a group of NZ friends the company soon expanded, was brought out, and has expanded again and again since creating a stir (and a belly) in the cheap eats world. The massive menu, inspired by all corners of the globe, with the kiwi burger, Mexican burger, Thai burger to name a few is definitely one to fill a whole. Bristol GBK Cabot Circus - has a funky décor that places you by the sea and fun and friendly staff who always seem to be around just in time to get an extra drink well done that trainer I think all which create a vibe well worth heading back to. My suggestion is, to get the 'full experience' (the burger with fries, and the fries with the sauce and the lot with the best milkshake your lips will ever have the pleasure of tasting) don't go in on a budget as a meal for two can cost anywhere above the £20 mark (that is unless you get the two for one vouchers on offer at the moment). But this is truly a case of you get what you pay for; Fresh, homemade ingredients nothing is frozen except the ice cream, or course, and all sauces are made on site. Pretty tasty food. There are a few areas where they could improve I feel, such as not serving burnt buns (on the odd occasion) but the food is very nice. Great milk shakes there I loved the Strawberry and their selection of fries is pretty nice. All in all a nice place with a good choice of meat. read more

Moderate burgers does not make up for terrible service and overpriced food. Location is okay but it has the issues symptomatic of chain that has grown too quickly chiefly that they have little to no respect for their customers. I've not felt treated so much like a faceless money machine in a long time. These people don't care whether you're having a good time they just want you in and out as quickly as possible without caring about your experience. Of course quickly doesn't mean you get your food on time, oh no, just that they process your order with the barest service, we waited 40 minutes for food last time I was there despite saying we only had limited time for lunch. Frankly I would give it a miss. Oh and forget the deals online, they charge so much for chips and drinks that we saved less than £2 on a 2 for £12 burger deal, still came to £23. GBK: disappointment is a dish best served cold? £8 to £10 for a burger might seem reasonable given the 'you get what you pay for' argument and when GBK first opened this didn't seem a difficult stance to take. However after successive visits I have notice a trend of increased prices (though I appreciate that in business this is pretty unavoidable) and decreased quality (inexcusable). I wouldn't take umbridge with the price if the standard were there but it isn't. You can't help but feel a little stung when your bill arrives, you've had to pay extra for your chips (which were undercooked (from frozen), you thought of complaining but given the level of service just gave up before the words managed to escape your lips, and they tasted oddly of soap (though that may just be me)), and its £15+ per head (before tip should you feel inclined). I have been to several Gourmet Burger Kitchens and always loved it. The Cabot CIrcus branch is a little more sterile and crowded than others though. I think they have tried to cram in too many tables as getting seats for a group at lunchtime can be a bit of a mission. However, as it is a brand-new branch, it's clean and crisp and wonderfully convenient. Grabbing a burger for lunch may sound like a surefire way to a heart attack, but the excellent range on offer here means you can adapt your meal to make it a little healthier. They also do great options for veggies- who are normally limited to two boring choices. Here they can choose from aubergine, lentil,mushroom, veggie and camembert and falafel. For the carnivores there is also an incredible selection of meats and toppings. I am always torn between the delectable chorizo burger and the pesterella (mozzarella and pesto). There are always deals online for GBK with printable vouchers which make it a very cheap lunch. But don't go here on a first date- the burgers are so huge and there are so many fillings, there is no decorous way to eat them and you will end up with mayo, cheese and various other food items smeared all across your face!! read more
