I'd like to introduce you to Darren. He doesn't look like he would work behind a till at a…read moresupermarket yet he's excellent at his job. He greats people in a friendly manner, engages with them and is super helpful when people have a query - making the extra time to show somebody to an item even if he's busy. He works quickly, diligently and packs your items as he puts them through. You couldn't get a better employee as far as a customer goes. I've been to this shop three times recently and he's served me every time. The shop itself offers a lot of frozen goods, I haven't bought any of these. What I have bought is the various branded goods they have at discounted prices. Prices that when you point them out to friends they go "wow, that's a really good deal". They don't sell enough to go their for your weekly shop but as far as I could work out nobody does go there for that, they go for the deals and certain items. They do sell the staples, bread, milk, toilet paper, at really good prices but the main sellers seem to be canned, frozen and packeted items. Add to that chocolate bars at ridiculous prices (5 bars for £10) and you get an idea of the range they offer. Farmfoods doesn't seem to be quite the right name and maybe a bit miss leading but I'm a new converted fan.

If I ate meat I don't think I would buy too much at Farmfoods as I don't think cheap meat products are likely to be of a good quality. However, as a vegetarian I can usually find quite a few cheap Quorn products to be buy here at a much cheaper price than in the Sainsburys over the road. Farmfoods is good for stocking up the freezer on a budget. The main negative thing about this shop is the staff are generally unfriendly and because you are buying discount products they seem to feel it is ok to just through your shopping through the check-out!

You bring you own bowls, or you can use one of their baskets. They measure how heavy your bowl is and they write it on the bottom. You then go into the rows of fruit, (and there is a lot). You then go to the counter and they measure the weight. They deduct the weight of your bowl from this and they work out how much you have to pay. It is cheaper than if you were to buy it from a supermarket so I would recommend buying it from here.

Good points. One of last PYO in Taunton. Very easy access…read moreand free parking. Well laid out, fairly level ground and grass routes kept cut. Extensive rows of all the expected soft fruits. Strawberries ground planted but well protected with straw. They monitor the retuning pickings and rotate the plots open for picking. So long as you go to the far end of the open plot, almost without fail, there is copious quantity of fruit to pick. They only sell PYO so do not cream off the best fruit with commercial pickers before hand. Also sell broadbeans, potatoes and now have just added own grown vegetable and salad stuff. Best off all they start off the season with picked asparagus. Brilliant. Bad Points. They would rather the fruit rot on the ground than drop their prices. When the weather turns and the fruit is begining to go soft they still charge top price for fruit that will be spoilt by the time you get home. The staff can be off-hand occassionally. Having picked £16.03 of fruit, it is irritating to be given change on the 3p and to a annual known returning customer. Make no effort to promote the different fruit varieties they grow. Not all strawberries are the same. No attempt to encourage interest in the range of fruit varieties and the different flavours and textures. No conssessions to bulk jam makers. No price discount for picking just the small fruit. Flat high price irrespective of what is available to be picked that day. So PYO'er become your own expect in the weather and ripening of fruit cause you will pay dearly for your mistakes. It is so large you may have to walk a short distance to get to some of the plots. They have not started to grow raised strawberry beds. But at least they still exist and you can pick fresh soft fruit, if you are careful!
