This is the second visit to Mad Hatter Complete Auto Care here in Brandon. The first visit was for a muffler repair and this last visit a check on my fuel tank straps on my 1977 C10 step side Silverado pick up. Let me tell you the management staff and mechanics know there business. I was in and out in a very reasonable amount of time. On the last visit the mechanic took me under the vehicle and showed me the issue and other suggestions and there was no charge. Needless to say they have got me a customer for life. I'll be bringing them my 1965 Shelby Tribute next. They know classics as well as the current vehicles. How refreshing to find a shop that can tune a car old school when the vehicle is a classic. I took my car in about a month ago. They quickly diagnosed the issue which was a steering column and component failure. Daunting, but the owner, Dave, made several inquiries to Honda about the issue, contacted local dealerships to get nationwide back-ordered parts quickly, answered all of my questions and got me back on the road with fair pricing. Tom is really great to work with and kept me updated. I'll be referring friends and colleagues. read more

I returned a Penske rental truck to this location. The owner tried to charge me $22 a gallon for not having the gas full upon returning. He didn't think I had the contract. His whole attitude changed once I pulled it out. This is the reason auto repair shops get a bad rap for ripping people off. read more

Bought a Groupon for oil change, called and scheduled an appt as required, told the tech that I had Groupon. Came in at appt time and was told they haven't been paid by Groupon for a year and they won't accept it. Manager is rude. Tech blamed the manager for not telling him that they don't accept it even though they haven't been for a year. This business is just mad, no hatter. read more

I have been to Mad Hatter several times in the past few years. Recently, I was blind-sided and decided to have the car towed here as it was no longer drivable. My contact at Mad Hatter was Tom. Repairing the car so it was safe quickly became a complete nightmare here. Mad Hatter answered questions about the repairs with "you can take it somewhere else" rather than actually explaining costs and processes. They were also extremely impatient & condescending on the phone. The other person's insurance agreed to help me through the trouble of having my car towed elsewhere and the repairs re-started. I will no longer be doing business here and I recommend others avoid it as well! read more

I brought my car in because I didn't think the ac was working. They called me and said the compressor needed to be replaced for $1400. I went to Midas the following weekend and it turns out I had the air set to fresh air and they simply put it on recirculating air and it works just fine. Literally was going to be out $1400 dollars for such a easy fix. They told me the compressor was shot. Just shocked. Be careful and always get a second opinion. read more

This is the first time that I have ever taken the time to leave a bad review for a business. I bought a coupon for 4 oil changes for $55 and the guy that sold me the coupon said that upgrading to full synthetic would only cost $15 extra. I go in to use it, and they try to charge me $55 because I wanted a full synthetic oil change. This seems very deceitful and honestly borders on fraud to me. I would not recommend getting any work done on your car by someone that is using such deceitful business practices as I would not trust them to do an honest job. read more

I came into Mad Hatter about 6 months ago with my 2 cars 1 an antique and other a classic that wasn't running up to standard and needing repairing. They assisted me with locating and starting at the root of the problem and updating and repairing things in stages. The manager Tom is very knowledgeable, informative, flexible and professional when it comes to classic cars which is great. Ben (lead mechanic) was informative and takes initiative in acknowledging potential hazards or issues and replacing them. The owner David is cool, motivated and very professional, and the rest of the staff only displays the very best in customer service whenever I'm there. And all of the guys are car enthusiast and actually like cars and care about your car and the customer. Can't beat that, being me coming from a shop that hated cars and working on them. Okay so where do I begin. Well I have a Camaro that I wanted to start with small muffler work and these guys here took great care of my pride and joy. Ben was the one who work on my car he is great. Now the man behind the counter delivered great customer service and I very customer service centric that is the MAIN thing I go off of and they did it here and the owner great person. I can't say enough about this place but the fact that I will be BACK for more work. Bought their "VIP Member Card" that was supposed to include free oil changes. I bought my own synthetic oil and they still charged me for labor which was ridiculous considering it was supposed to be no charge for card holders. Not cool. read more

I went in to mad hatter cause I needed some work done on my car that I had just bought. It ended up being more than I anticipated but they worked everything out to where it wouldn't break my bank (that day) and I couldn't thank them enough for getting my car safe to drive around. They were nice, reasonably priced and told me everything up front. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who needs work done on their car. read more

I had the opportunity to stop by for an introductory oil change on the day the location opened and I have been going back for ALL my car needs ever since. Tom, The General Manager, goes way out of his way to make your experience a good one. Very thorough, honest and the quality of the work is top of the line. I actually look forward to each time I go as I am always learning something from the team of mechanics, who are friendly and courteous despite the level of work detail on the car. No job too small or too large. It is worth your time and effort to at least have them take a look. Most will agree and not leave until their repairs are done. read more

I can't say enough about this company!!! My husband and I brought my car in last week for an issue with my steering. Tom was so easy to work with and actually discovered the issue was covered under a recall... he did not have to give that information, I would have paid for the service and never known! Guys do not take your car to this place, these guys are a bunch of jokers, I took my car there to change the oil a 2007 BMW Z4 that was only work by one guy in the past who was a Master Mechanic for Reeves BMW. When I took my car there to get the oil change they didn't have the right to they cause damage to the oil cap, then after that they drain the oil and then they put that dirty oil back into my vehicle. The owner is a liar the mechanics don't have the right tool with a serious attitude problem. Please do your research before you take you car to these morons. I am telling you guys you will regret it. If they can't even change an oil can you imagine what they will do if they have to rebuild your transmission or do other work. Trust me guys do not take your vehicle to this place. Bought a groupon for 4 wheel alignment. I use to work at a service station so I did my own shocks and struts. I walk in and tell the counter guy I got a groupon and immediately he gives me an attitude. He start complaining about groupon and how they don't make any money off them. I'm thinking to myself then why advertise thru them. This was my 1st time going here and I'm thinking this counter guy is a jerk. Then he puts my car on the lift and tells me i need a new camber kit it will be 50$. I tell him I just did the shocks myself and the screws, swing arms and looked ok. I ask to see the old parts and see if they are damaged. He says don't worry about it they took care of it no charge. So It went from 50 to free once I said I use to work at a shop and only took it here for alignment cause i cant do it in my drive way. I just bit my tongue waited and never went back.
