I Informed him that I had a flat tire and without any hesitation. He came over and remove the flat tire and put the spare one on. He then proceeded to take it a step further and check to see if there was any availability for me to get my actual tire fixed today Mind you it was right before closing Time. He said Yes !! I followed him to his place of employment location and He Fix the tire for me himself, put my spare back in my trunk and walked me To my car . We have been customers of Clarke's Automotive since we moved to Tampa from up north back in 2016. Bob Clarke's customer service and integrity is what pulled us to this shop and kept us for so many years. When my mom moved down earlier this year with an older car we also had her take her vehicle to Clarke's Automotive, which is now mostly run by Bob's son Matt. After a few months being here, she needed some repairs due to normal maintenance as well as repairs to the underside of the vehicle. For a month and a half, the car was back and forth to Clarke's Automotive. It seemed for awhile that we may have been being taken advantage of with the amount of repairs, their cost and the continuious back and forth to the shop. Bob Clarke stepped in, explained what was going on with the vehicle and we came to the mutual conclusion that it was time to move on from that car. He then took the time to go over with us what type of car we should be looking for, the process in this new day and age of car shopping, etc. If Bob had not stopped in, we feel we may have still been putting money in a car that was not worth the cost to repair and would have been taken advantage of. read more

Starting this review with: use your best judgment and actually read the negative reviews to this place and don't just go because overall they have great reveiws. I took my DRIVABLE 89 corvette in to get an AC repair and now have an UNDRIVABLE corvette but at least I have cold AC right? From the moment I went to pick it up the whole situation left me extremely unhappy. Almost $900 to do a full look over of the car and let me know what's wrong with it and to get the AC pumping cold. First issue, I went to swipe my card and in tiny print on the machine there was a $35 merchant service charge. 3.5% they are charging people to simply swipe their cards. They apparently had never seen that before and had no idea why it was suddenly showing up so take that response as you will.... The lady up front even said she wonders how many people have been getting charged that without knowing... Second, I get home and am looking over my bill and realized I was charged twice for the same part for my AC. Once for $29 and a second time for $42. Two separate labor charges for each part also. Head back down there (to get a refund) and my car is making a god awful noise that it didn't make before. They refund me the price of the extra part only and then once confronted about the new noise, come to tell me that "it's the belt and that it needs to be re-tentioned because of the new load it's facing now. " All the while I drive this thing only a few miles back home and it drives and sounds awful and 30 seconds before I pull into my driveway it sounds like things are literally falling off my car. After a look over, metal is literally spewing into my motor because it's shredding the alternator fan because the pulley is now bent from the belt. I now have twice as many issues as I had prior going in, all because of carelessness. Like other bad reviews say, this place is careless and if you aren't careful you're gonna leave with more issues than you came in with. After doing some research and talking to others on what's wrong with my car now, their excuse for that happened to my belt isn't even a thing that can happen. Either we have a weird coincidence of my alternator pulley failing while they had it at the shop or it was sabotaged (belt was tightened or bolt that holds radiator pulley was loosened) so they could get more $$$ out of me to fix it. I had NO issues with this specific thing prior to this. My experience with this shop only leaves me with the feeling that they are predatory and careless. If you love your car, be mindful of this place. No transparency here, only when you call them out on things. They offered to fix the issue but why would I trust these people with my car now? Very professional service and from the beginning you can feel that they would not try to take advantage of you and make you overpay for your repairs or try to sell you a new one that you don't actually need. First time I went to them was after a very dissatisfied and disappointing experience with Walmart Mechanics trying to sell me a service I was sure I didn't need, and they fix it for $10 over the Walmart's price and that was including a tip. How I came to find Clarke's Automotive and thankful that I did! initially took in my 2012 Jetta GLI to Clarke's after a miserable experience at a local Tampa VW dealership..Right from the start at Clarke's-they were friendly, understanding and most important-HONEST! Clarke's has been taking care of my Jetta for the past 5 years and am I thankful to have found them. They have worked on my Jetta numerous times-it's a turbo and that's a story for another day lol. Anyway, due to this particular dealership's failed attempt in proper diagnosis-I came to find out that they never bothered hooking up my car and scan for error codes and also lied about doing a "total car inspection". My miserable experience started with having to fix a wheel sensor that went bad and they claimed to have done a multi point inspection of the vehicle while being serviced: check tires, battery, hoses, belts etc..Well, less than two weeks later after having the sensor replaced, I broke down on I-75. I was doing about 70mph when the car suddenly downshifted on its own and started to lose power. By the grace of God, I was able to pull it over to the median before someone crashed into me! I had the car towed to the nearest VW dealership and was told that there was an oil leak that was hitting the belt and eroding it. My serpentine belt was completely shredded and looked like spaghetti strings all over the engine-a total mess! I explained that my car had just been repaired recently and supposedly "inspected" and this VW dealership explained that the leak had been there for a while by the extent of the damage and couldn't have occurred in just a couple of weeks. I was stunned that the prior VW dealership had not caught it and the service technician at this VW dealer was as well. I had my Jetta towed back to the prior dealership who fixed the sensor and fought with them for eight weeks to repair my car at their expense because it was their negligence in not catching the oil leak! The total cost to repair the damage done was around $2500! They denied it was their fault, but I had the invoice stating their mechanic checked off that belts were inspected, but was clearly and obviously not done. I was determined to get them to own this error and I had to get VW corporate involved and finally got the car repaired after two months! It was an absolute nightmare that I do not wish on anyone! So long story shot-I take my Jetta to Clarke's and only to Clarke's! Matt the owner answers all my questions and explains everything in detail prior to doing any work. Price of repairs are very reasonable and they are currently running 20% off labor costs for first time clients. Clarke's will also make arrangements for towing service and provides complementary shuttle service if needed. My Jetta is now running better than ever! Once the diagnostics was performed, they found that the mass air flow sensor on my 2006 Corolla needed replacing. I decided to have it towed to my regular shop, where they just replaced the mass air flow sensor on March 1st. I just couldn't see paying for a repair that was still under warranty at the other shop. Clarke's DID do a good job on either a starter or alternator replacement I had done on a previous Corolla back in 2020. read more

We've used Clark Automotive for years and wil continue to do so. They're honest and reasonably priced. I know I can find a CHEAPER price, but you get what you pay for. Out of the shops I looked up in the past, they were the most honest and not trying to bleed me dry. They have given me options and explained what needs to be done and in what order. So I read some of the comments and I focused on the "negative" ones unfortunately. I wished I had done homework but no not me, I had to get it repaired and quickly which was a very big mistake, it was my only source of transportation at that time and had the vehicle towed to the shop. The owner called with the issues that it had and which both my wife and I were already aware of the issues it currently had. Later I spoke to wife about what issues they found, and the next day contacted the owner to informed him of our decision, and that we've decided not to get the service done. His response was "Then you'd "better" come get the car". I'm sorry what? I was confused and shocked at the tone. It was almost as if the guy was angry that my wife and I decided not to get it serviced there. I/we would not recommend this shop personally. We started going here after reading the positive reviews on yelp about 18-24 months ago. The owner is as honest as they come and his staff is awesome. Last week we dealt with Matt in the front office and we took our GMC Acadia there after one of the local auto parts place diagnosed our alternator as being bad. We expected a $600+ bill. Turns out only our battery was shot and we were out with an oil service and a top of the line Delco battery for under $200 bucks. I gave them go ahead to replace both, they chose to only do what was needed. Car runs perfectly. I took my car in for routine maintenance and a check up and the owner showed me some brake terminals that had been corroded and told me they need to be changed. That was the first I've ever heard of that, and as it was a new battery, the terminals were just fine. I knew they were because I checked. The very next time I went in to pick up my car, They were speaking with someone in front of me and they showed her "corroded brake terminals." I am a female and the owner, Bob, was very condescending when speaking with me. I suspect that they are pretty dishonest with people they think they can dupe. That's only one example. After seeing them scam time and again, we switched to a new auto repair shop and have been happy since. I'm not easily swindled and I don't like to be nickeled and dimed. I was not happy. read more

The backbone of any good automotive place is the staff. It's hard to know if/when you can trust the recommendations. After two visits to Clarke, I've gotta say, the staff are so professional, polite, and efficient. Both times, we were told our cars were running well. I feel like most auto shops find a small list of repairs each time you go, but not here. The service in regards to timing was also very professionally handled. They offer appointments for oil changes and get your car done in 30-40 minutes. We dropped it off, walked down to Einstein Bagel, came back in 30 mins and it was ready! Can't beat that! I've attempted to update my previous review, but Yelp won't let me, so I'm writing another one. About a week after I bought my four new tires from Clarke Automotive, there was an issue with one of the tires. I wasn't sure if I should contact the Road Service I have with GEICO, or contact Clarke Automotive. After some thought, I contacted Clarke Automotive. Keep in mind - I'm at work, about 8-9 miles away from the shop. They immediately sent a mechanic out to check out my flat tire. He took it back to the shop, decided it was defective, told me the new tire wouldn't be in until tomorrow, and the mechanic came back to my workplace to put another tire on my car!!! Have you EVER heard of such service?? And at no charge!!! I was able to get to the shop a couple days later, and they quickly put the tire on. That's not all... A few months later, Clarke Automotive changed my oil. They shuttled me to work, and someone forgot that I needed to be picked up at 1:00. That happens, right? A busy shop, shuttling people all over...So guess what they did? They called an Uber to pick me up and take me back to the shop!! The Uber was there in 6-7 minutes. Are you impressed, yet? If not, let me tell you the final scenario that should convince you that these people are honest, trustworthy, and you need to get your car to them ASAP for any work needed. At 90,000+ miles, it was time for a routine checkup on my Corolla. I take my car back to Clarke Automotive and they tell me my car is in great shape! Most dealerships sell packages costing hundreds of dollars to replace several items all at once at this mileage, even if the items don't need replacing. Not Clarke Automotive. They thoroughly examine my car and say the only thing that needs to be replaced is my brake fluid due to the high mileage (water eventually seeps in, and could cause problems). They could have ripped me off for hundreds of dollars! But they didn't. I'm a single woman, and I know nothing about cars, except how to drive them and keep them up with a great mechanic. Every single interaction with Clarke Automotive has been a wonderful experience. If anyone needs to train people how to give excellent customer service, they should go to Clarke Automotive to see how it's done. I tell everyone I know to go there, and I'm telling YOU, too. They are very dependable when you need them. Customer service is outstanding but you pay for it. Their prices are kinda on the high side a bit but they do give you a nation wide warranty on their service work. If your in Georgia and the repair they did goes bad then you can get warranty service up there which I like that. Just make sure you go over the repair costs with Matt or Bob before you give them the go ahead because once they start the work it's your baby. All in all I was pleased with my experience with them. I looked up garages in the area & Clarke Automotive had the best reviewed so I decided to give it a shot. I called to make an appointment & they were able to take me right away. When I arrived the guy at the front desk was very friendly & efficient. I filled out the paperwork & they took my vehicle to the back right away to start working. The oil change took about 30 minutes & only cost me $24 including tax!! The owner and employees were knowledgeable and honest! I'd definitely come back here in the future. I really enjoyed this shop. I am so happy I decided to take my sons car here for a diagnostic check up. I bought him 2009 with 250,000 miles and wanted to have it checked out a couple weeks ago. They found a couple minor things wrong. I took it in today to be service and everyone was friendly. I was there early before 7 and they had a courtesy van to take me home. I was in and out and back home by 7:30. Before they started I received a call to confirm the price and then I received a call when the car was ready. No hassle. No up sale.
