I am a fan of Macy's, I have never had a bad experience, I do wish they had more checkout stations but that's retail. The only recent issue that I had is trying to use the store mode option to make a purchase and it never works. This is very disappointing, I would not have to look for a cashier if this app worked as it supposed to I could purchase my items and made it out of the store in a flash. Horrible customer service in the ladies shoe Dept. 1st if all they sold me 2 left shoes! Instead of the display set that I had tried on, I asked for a fresh pair & that's what I ended up with. When I returned them, the shoe was no longer in stock so I ended up with nothing. They don't approach you & ask if you need help, you have to hunt them down. And once you hunt them down you have to wait forever for them to come back & tell you what you need is out of stock, ALWAYS! When I said I wanted a refund on the 2 left shoes the sales lady tried to force me to order online (through her of course) & have them shipped to my house. Even after I told her no & requested a refund multiple times she proceeded to pull my address up from my Macy's account, read it out loud & say "is this where you want them sent?" I was fuming & I definitely got the manager involved. Stay away from this place! read more

As I walked into Macy's during a busy Saturday afternoon sale, my college son's words echoed in my ears. In his economics class they were predicting the demise of J.C. Penny and Macy's in less than five years, based on their financials and the economy. In their class, they discussed the end of the middle-class department store. They predict there will only be discounters for the masses, and extreme luxury stores for the elite. I looked around at the bustling store, taking in the dour clerks, messy departments with clothes and shoes tossed around. With little enthusiasm, I browsed through racks of cheaply made blouses, strings hanging from the seams sewn into cheap polyesters. I recalled where I'd seen such clothes before--in K-mart. The price tag read $75. The sign above the rack said take 30% off! Indeed, every rack had some kind of sign offering their credit card and discounts. Who buys this stuff, I wondered? I looked around at the grungy crowd comprised mostly of tatted-up, saggy panted dudes who shuffled next to gals who dressed like they were going to a dive bar, that or worked the mean streets at night. Question answered. I sighed, and waxed nostalgic for the Galleria of old. I would drive from Sugar Land during the great 1990's and spend all day shopping Marshall Fields & Lord and Taylor. Even Neiman Marcus and later, Saks Fifth Ave.'s prices weren't unreasonable given the quality and a good sale. Now I don't even bother to shop there given the crowd there is just as grungy as in Sugar Land and the prices sky high. To honor the once great middle-class department store, I ask all to bow your heads and join me in goodbye: Lord and Taylor and Marshall Fields were once fashion Sheppard's, The middle class did not want. They left us to lie down in discount store pastures. They lead us outside dead upscale mall waters, all but Macy's, who restoreth our designer soles, Yea, though Macy's now walks through the shadow of the valley of mid-priced store death, I shall fear no Neiman's. For TJXX corp art with me. Thy Marshall's and T.J. Maxx clothe me. They prepareth my wardrobe, replacing Macy's cheap clothes & tasteless shoppers, For Macy's anointed us with false coupons and sales, tacky clothes and credit limits runneth over. I usually can't find what I'm looking for at this Macy's. I will check the juniors department which has gotten smaller through the years and the makeup department seems to be taking over the area. The juniors department seems to be geared more and more to the younger juniors like middle school kids. The women's department is too large and the merchandise to crammed together so it's hard to find anything. The good stuff is always too expensive so I usually leave empty handed and go to JCPenney's. I wish I could say that this was the only Macy's that I experienced that "meh" feeling but it's not. The one in the Galleria is just as bad. The women's clothing selections aren't the best in my opinion.You may find the occasion "great find" but in my case it's rare. The clothes tend to come across matronly. The jewelry as well as the shoe section is a bust for me too. Then the begging at the checkout counter to open a Macy's credit card. I can't. I tell you I had one, closed it and you are still begging. Just not a great shopping atmosphere for me I tend to have better luck at Marshall's, Nordstrom or Dress Barn. Sandeep approached me within a minute or two browsing the isle very friendly. Definitely watch out or ask for him if you're of the shorter stature we are about the same size 5'4 - 5'5ish so he was helpful in picking out the EXACT fit of suits for me. read more

After some uneventful and ridiculous Macy's credit credit experiences, I really have not had a desire to shop here anymore, but the quickest way to my destination inside the mall was to go through Macy's. Soon as I walked in, I noticed all kinds of clearance racks! I couldn't resist! I ended up buying a couple of outfits including a Tahari dress for less than $30! Customer service is an issue. Went in and had the girl talk to me under her breath, answer a question I had asked her manager (told her I wasn't talking to her), basically not help me, and as she walked off when I was calmly and politely explaining my concerns said she didn't have "time for this shit." On a precious visit had a friend that another Macy's left the anti theft tag on a pair of short and when she took it in to have to removed (because they wouldn't let someone who was helping her do it) they lectured her about it. read more

Just like "Jiny J."^^^ was saying, the store can be pricey, but you can also get good deals and their is no doubts about the quality. My mom buys a lot of brand name cooking and dinner ware from here. She bought this one stock pot (I forgot which brand) that was originally $90 for $65 on sale. For those of you guys trying to apply for a job there, it is going to be annoying cause I just found out you have to wait a week for them to only receive your application and then longer just for them to look through it. That would be super frustrating if you wait that long and you don't even get the job. read more

Last week, I went to the Galleria Macys-horrible service and everything picked over. Decided to make the drive to Sugarland Macys and was well worth it! The American Rag collection was plentiful and the young saleslady was not pushy nor eager to push me out of there! The store was clean and organized! The dressing rooms were clean, as well. She also offered discounts to me that benefited the AHA. I would rather make the drive to Sugarland than head into the Galleria! read more

This particular Macy's is what I can accurately describe as chaos. Not just during the holiday shopping rush but year round. The store is big but the layout is terrible. All departments run together in one big jumble that becomes one. There so much merchandise crammed, and I mean crammed, throughout that it is hard to see which section is which. After going through department after department of granny-wear (it seems the sales focus is on elderly style clothing and I'm not sure what demographic and marketing studies decided this) I finally found some nice non-elderly clothing in Lucky Brand. Amazingly, the shirts and sweaters I found had sleeves that were long enough for my tall frame's arms. Lucky indeed. The Ralph Lauren department also had some sweaters with longer length sleeves. I didn't fare so well with pants. They don't sell tall (or long) length pants specifically so I had to look elsewhere for those. The stock of dresses seemed to lean towards the gaudy design and colors. While I am not at all against having colorful items in the wardrobe, there are colorful prints that can be just plain tacky eyesore and those need to be avoided. Never partaking of acid drugs, I can only imagine this is what an acid trip would be like. Color frights aside, there were a few tasteful, classic styles but nothing that really said "buy me!" The shoe department was another chaotic place. There were so many shoes displayed that it made the overall look cheap. Many styles seemed to be so similar that variety of style was lacking. The accessories section was such an unkempt mess that I didn't even bother browsing there. The same goes for handbags. When higher end brands are jammed together with lower end brands the whole look becomes cheap. It's unappealing. The cosmetics department was crowded by displays in the aisles but I was very pleased with service and items at the MAC counter. I am giving three stars because of the clothing I found in the Lucky Brand department and Ralph Lauren as well as the MAC counter. If I were going by the rest of the store it would be a two stars. Macy's needs to focus on streamlining and simplicity in arrangement and display. Stop cramming! They also need to cut down on the bulk of elderly clothing and add some tall lengths. The customer service I experienced was friendly and my wait in line wasn't long. I'd shop here again in the Lucky Brand department and a few others like MAC. Otherwise, I'll probably do most shopping elsewhere. read more

There are few occasions of incomplete incompetence, but one I encountered was at this macys. I went in at 11am on a Sunday to return items. After walking through the entire first floor for someone to help me, I ended up at the perfume location as that was the only place they had a sales associate. After 40 minutes, and three phone calls to other people I ended up taking the item home with me as they couldn't figure out how to return it. Was there on Sunday at 11 on the 10 of Jan. There shoe department a mess could not see any sales folks, the two i did see were chanting with one another. Tried to do a hand bag return no dust bag * excuse me there was no dust bag when gotten* it was on the sale rack table on the floor next to the table. Since the bag was un opened all packaging still there all wrapped , they still would not do a return. From now on Nordstroms and QVC I have been a great customer there over the years since they took it from Foleys. But i have seen the down hill trend of the management to lack of help I want service after the sale pock up your area hire enough help, clean the store well. read more

Talk about something that adds stress to your day. 'THAT IS MACY'S FIRST COLONY'!! I placed an order on line to be picked up @ Macy's First Colony. I received an e-mail that the merchandise could be picked up after 3:00 pm. My husband went there the very first thing, the next day to pick it up & they couldn't find it. They seemed really unorganized,my husband stated. He waited around 30 - 40 minutes for them to search. Still no order. Then I tried calling the store and the operator said I needed to talk to customer service. Customer Service is in the "PHILIPPINES" after an explanation to the rep, I was placed on hold, from there, I was disconnected. Called back to the store. Then the operator kept connecting me to an extension that was not answering, I finally gave up. Called the store back and asked for the store manager. She was in a meeting. This Macy's has to be one of the most disorganized Macy's I've ever been to. The products such as handbags and shoes were all messed up. Some of the product was even laying on the floor and none of the workers seem to care. During the weekends, this place gets even more dysfunctional. I went to the jewelry department, more specifically for a Michael Kors watch on Sunday and they ONLY had one to two employees working at the time. (Don't they know that the weekends are going to be super busy, why not have more workers?!) The employees had NO IDEA where the line even began, people were getting upset due to the long wait. went to mac inside macy's at first colony mall and had the best experience i've ever had at mac! i walked in 30 mins before the mall was closing by chance hoping i would somehow be able to get my makeup done because i was going out for my birthday unexpectedly. there were a few ladies there but the only friendly face that asked if i needed anything was carolyn and took care of me right away! she mentioned that normally they take appointments for full face but told me if she was available to do full face she would. dream come true! i left with a full face & was deeply satisfied! my birthday weekend was amazing & i felt extra confident with my make up done by her, i highly recommend her!! read more
