I stopped in here for a couple of very plush terrycloth bathrobes to use when getting out of our hot tub. I came in early Sunday morning without any makeup as this was an unexpected stop. The staff in ladies lingerie gave me the once over and essentially scoffed at me like I didn't belong. It's your average Macy's. However it is much nicer than the regular one we shop at at Tyrone mall In st Pete. We hit this one whenever we manage to be in the Sarasota area. We don't normally buy anything unless we find something on sale. However if you can hit their sales you can def score some great deals. Just have to be willing to look for the bargains! read more

This review is for their women's shoe department. I have shopped here before and had a fair experience, however, today was subpar. It was extremely difficult to get any assistance. When I did approach a sales rep, she seemed completely disinterested in helping me and stated that 'she was busy with other tasks' but did ultimately take my request. We were not checked in with and I again had to find a sales rep to help with getting a different size. Each interaction was met with an air of unfriendliness. The prices here are fair, but with such poor service, I'm not sure it's still worth the trip when shoe shopping. read more

I have been a customer of MACYS for over 15 years and I love the store, especially the new and modern one in UTC mall, Sarasota. The sales clerks from clothing department as well as cosmetic department and furniture department have always been very nice and friendly. Onnce in a while I ran into an inattentive or an inexperienced clerk but that happens in any department store. I just said "OK, thank you, I will think about it OR I will get it another time" then walked away. I called customer service a few times about my credit card, or my "Thanks for Sharing" award etc. and they always been polite and helpful. read more

I will never shop at Macy"s again, especially the UTC location. In July 2018, I tried to return my perfume but didn't have the lid to the perfume but had the receipt and the box. Saleswoman wouldn't return it without the lid because she said she needs to "resell it". I told her it's illegal to resell this. How do you know it wasn't contaminated. She said they even resell makeup and lipstick as long as it's returned in the original container with the receipt. THAT"S ILLEGAL!! You don't know where it's been, if it was contaminated or if it was used? You never resell perfume or makeup. read more

Their starbucks is the worst!!! They always charge extra for things that aren't normally charged at other Starbucks out there. My grande (medium) drink somehow ended up being $7. I never get charge for extra matcha powder but they charged me 0.90 cent for that. I guess it's because it's under Macy's so they upcharge the price read more

I love Macy's but I was very disappointed when I bought items at Black Friday that were signed to include rebates. I talked to the rebate center to get info to send in. I sent in the rebates and got an email saying it wasn't a rebate item and no way to contest it. Very disappointed. read more

I purchased a sweater on line. I picked it up at the Macy's at University Parkway, Sarasota, fl. I went home, tried it on, way to large. So, I took it back to the store. After a wait time finally a bleached blonde dude started the return procedure. But he did not refund my money, instead he charged my card again. When I realize this I called the store to go through a run around and told to leave a message. So, I called their 1-800-289-6229 to be told they could not do anything I needed to call the store. Very disappointed with the quality of customer service I am receiving from Macy's, I will be contacting the bank and have the charges reversed as Macy's should have done in the first play. I have shopped in Macy's for over 40 years, but with the resent down slide of the company think I will be going to Dillards. Shopped here with my 7-year-old. It's a small but manageable Macy's. Like all stores these days, it's woefully understaffed- sometimes finding a clerk feels like a Where's Waldo search so maybe they should wear red and white striped outfits and black pointy hats. Once you find them though, they are friendly and helpful so it's worth the search. Plus, the usual great Macy's deals. read more

It is a beautiful store. But so frustrating to find someone to help you and pay for your items. There is simply not enough sales associates and when you do find someone it was my experience they are not helpful, they seemed over work and crabby. In the Macy's cosmetics section there are two employees that went absolutely above and beyond to make sure I was helped and got exactly what I needed! They listened to my needs and even helped me try on different colors of what I was looking for, and were EXTREMELY knowledgeable in the products they were selling! They were approachable and kind! Very rare people! Alex, who works in the urban decay section when I was there and Taylor who works in the bluemercury section! I would highly recommend you go see them for any of your cosmetics needs! They will take their time with you and make sure you are 110% happy before you leave, with the holidays coming up these are the two people you need to go see for all your personal and gift cosmetics! Had to check out the new store at the new mall. Needed some clothes for work, and I have had luck finding what I need in the past at Macys. The other Macys in the area were more self-help, where you take your purchase to a central checkout station in a walkway. This new Macys is so much better in terms of the store! I started to collect my items, and a sales associate, April, greeted me and started a fitting room. She kept adding my items, I like to go in only once to the fitting room, and set up everything in a beautiful new fitting room with great lighting. April was attentive, switched out sizes for me, and was super helpful. To be honest, I have never had service like this before in Macys here. I ended up buying 5 items and April was so kind and helpful at checkout! read more

I honestly don't think I have ever seen such poor sales folks or customer service folks like the old ladies they have hired at the Lancome Perfume Counter at Macys. Went to purchase a bottle of perfume from Lancome...waited for at least 10 minutes while two ladies with snow white hair were attending to one single customer. When they finally came over, the lady with short hair hardly had any information about the products and nor was she willing to explain or talk about what she was holding. She was clearly unfriendly, did not seem to want to talk to us or sell anything. While another young lady from a different counter came over to help. She was possibly in her twenties and was very attentive and tried to help. I should not have purchased anything from the old lady but since we were in a hurry to get the kids calm down I made a purchase in haste. Horrible customer service. I have shopped at Macys all my life in many different states and at the Sarasota Square Mall but the UTC sales folks especially the older ones that I have dealt with clearly did not seem to know what they were doing. They need to educate their sales people about their products and train them better on customer service. Also their line of clothing could be improved. The styles are so out dated and shabby. I was expecting a lot more style and glamour when this mall opened up! read more

Very rude sales clerks who are under the misconception that they work for Neiman Marcus or somewhere else that's high quality. Each and every clerk I've come in contact with here, except for ONE, has not bothered to greet me. That's pretty bad. Is it because I'm middle aged? No, I look younger than I am, so that's not it. Am I not sporting some requisite, Lakewood Ranch hairdo? Possible. But at Macy's, clerks work on commission. But i dont think some of them realize it. When you are nice to me and good at your job, I can be almost counted in to spend more money. When you are standing behind a purse rack, gossiping with your coworker, I will jyst walk thru 4 other departments until I find a clerk who wants to work. Or, I'll set my Martha Stewart flatware set down on a display of Jockey for Her, and just leave the store. But today, I had to walk through 6 departments to find a clerk, and that clerk didn't know how to use the register. That was sad. For me. When I got home there was a box in my mailbox from Macy's with an item that I had ordered last week. When I opened the box, I found, much to my surprise, that the watch I ordered was damaged and had a piece missing from it. The piece was not in the box so the sales clerk that packed said watch obviously either didn't care to inspect it or did inspect it and didn't care whether they were sending out good merchandise or not. I will never come back to this Macy's again!! My first and last time here. I came in and went to the purse section, there were no workers around and I couldn't find any help, when I did they walked away. I decided I wanted to buy something and that took a while cuz she said she couldn't check me out and I bought an expensive mk purse and they didn't wrap it or anything and just threw it in the bag. I went to the mk store later in that same mall and they had better customer service and it was the exact same price and they had them all nice and wrapped up. But before I left Macy's I went to show department haha big mistake. There was one woman working and everyone was waiting to get diff sizes to try on and the poor woman was running around like crazy trying to help all the people. After waiting a long time and finally getting the right show size I checked out but a lot of people left and didn't even finish trying on shoes because they were sick of waiting.
