This Macys has is horrible staff very unprofessional . Especially cosmetics department they look bothered when you ask them a question .

Wow what a huge difference from the store in Santa Rosa CA! This store is a huge filthy disorganized mess.Womens clothes is so bland and old looking.And customer service is a huge let down long lines at cashier's and there so slow and I'll trained.Carpeting looks so worn out and tired.Not a great option in shoe sizes.Was told they don't carry wide.Get with it Salinas this a a huge disappointing store .Oh the few dresses I did see they looked cheap and tacky! read more

Bought what was supposed to be a luxury mattress pad and found it stained when brought home and taken out of the package. Thinking it was just a freak occurrence, returned and exchanged it for another one. Upon bringing the second mattress pad home and taking it out of the package, it was also stained, much worse than the first, ridden all over with the weirdest, most disgusting stains imaginable, including what looked like urine and blood. It is shocking that people have the nerve to use items to the extent that they're in that condition and then return them. Macy's Salinas, you need to up your game when it comes to what returns you will accept from your customers and put back on the shelf to sell to your other customers. read more

Called their main number and tried to get through to their jewelry department - I called multiple times and it rang for about 20 minutes altogether with no one picking up. Not picking up the phone on an off day mid-afternoon isn't okay, management needs to get staff on point. read more

Martha lady working at the Salinas location upstair was rude unprofessional asked her about an item if that was the price she said yes rudely then I go and scan it myseLf and it's on sale and our next encounter with Martha an item has no price tag and she won't go look for the same item puts the item aside charges us for everything else but makes us go look for the same shirt or we can't purchase that shirt asked if she can get a sales associate and she refused she said there's none. read more

I will stick to online shopping. I don't know what was going on if the cashier had difficulties, or the customer at the checkout counter did 3-5 separate transactions. It took 15 minutes for her to complete her time at the checkout counter. None of the other lines seemed to be moving faster, it seemed as if working the register was an issue... perhaps technological updates need to be made? or how about self-checkout? Something needs to happen to make employees/people move a little bit faster... read more

When I worked at Macy's it was the place to be. I worked as a Cosmetics Counter Manager. Daphne was the head of Cosmetics and she ran a tight ship. We were packed, had a blast with our customers and the people we worked with. The sales great and we had great high end clothes. About 4-5 years ago someone got the bright idea to make the mall more festive. How ridiculous. It looked horrible and like some track shopping center. It was sad. I even got chased by gang members. This is stuff that never happened when I worked there. Dean was a great manager at Macy's and I heard he went to Monterey. Great timing. The HR Manager was amazing. I am so sad to read these but not surprised. Don't just blame Macys. Like it or not demographics and the changes made for the demographics has more to do with how Macy's is set up. You can not have amazing products just to get them stolen and then have a awful inventory by the end of the year. I sure hope there is some way Macy's can get back to the place I loved and maybe hiring security guards with thorough background checks is a option since Macy's owns this store. If not, maybe sell the building, cut your losses, open another near a demographic that fits. LAWD! read more

This location is the worst Macy's I've ever visited. I have been a loyal Macy's shopper for years. The merchandise is very limited and caters to a different audience. I make a trip to San Jose or Monterey to shop my favorite store. It's unfortunate for a city the size of salinas there is not more of a selection. I would rather shop at JC Penny's than Macy's at Northridge. A little more upscale merchandise would be nice. You can't even find decent dishes in salinas!!! read more

Store is nice but the woman in Levi's Department named Maria (short, old and grouchy) was rude with me the whole time, giving me attitude, wasn't friendly nor was she helpful. Even seen her act cold toward her fellow employees. I spoke to the manager Gary about this and he seemed like he was more on her side. I don't know who hired her or why she is still there but you need someone with a fresh face and DEFINITELY with a better attitude. I was purchasing 6 pair of jeans that day along with a levi jacket but the thought of that one woman being so rude with me ruined my experience there and purchase so I cancel my transaction and just went to the Levi's Department at Jcpenney and bought my jeans there. I will never shop in that department there as long as that woman is there. The sales associate Mike was very understanding though. So whoever is the store manager there needs to step up there game and do something about this. read more

Came here today with the intention of purchasing a designer handbag. Friend had picked up a bag that they ordered online and the cashier was RUDE AS ALL CAN BE. No hello or anything just stared at my friend and then when friend told her she was gonna pick up up something she scanned it and left to get item. Pulled off tag and said "Here" while dropping it on counter. She asked for a bag and she rolled her eyes and dropped one on the counter and left. WORST experience here, needless to say, i took my money elsewhere. DEFINITELY will not be shopping here in the future. read more

I come here, look around, try on a few things, and usually find nothing. The Monterey Macy's is much bigger and nicer, but it's worth looking here. I usually just buy the INC brand. There's so many dorky brands upstairs for women. read more

I went in to buy a Christmas gift, shoes. There was a display of 5 pairs of shoes with a sign stating "50% off," so I go to check out and the moronic shoe saleswoman tells me the offer is only valid in the "day time." I went Macy's to buy perfume gift for my husband's birthday as I did last year, the person who sold it was mean and impolite wearing eye glasses with black hair while last year there was a nice woman there to sell perfumes. This is quite possibly the worst Macy's ever. It is reminiscent of an 80's KMart. I'm pretty sure it is the lowest tier of Macy's there is. The women's department is more like a senior citizen's department, without any name brand clothing. No Joe's jeans, Seven for all Mankind, Hudson, no BCBG or Tahari, or even anything remotely close. Most brands are Macy's brands like Charter Club and INC. Levi's takes over a huge part of the department, and the petites section and plus sizes take up most of the space. Downstairs you can find junior's clothing that you could also find at nearby cheap club-attire stores such as Styles. I would say that the Forever 21 down the mall is ten times better.., and that isn't saying much. They got rid of the Benefit counter, so you have to head to the mini Sephora (and also unimpressive for a Sephora), down the hall which resides in JC Penney. The men's department is similar to the women's. The floors are dirty, the furniture is in poor condition with holes and broken pieces, and the bathrooms are filthy and stinky. The labels are unimpressive and cheap, as all the quality brands are slowly disappearing. This Macy's is not a good sign of where Salinas is going. I will certainly continue driving to Monterey, Gilroy, and San Jose to do my shopping. read more

I've been extremely disappointed with the Macy's store in Salinas. Yesterday my wife and I went shopping and found the place in such a mess, I thought I was in a Ross store. I honestly do not like shopping at this Macys at all but had to stop in to exchange some shoes. I was helped by Casey and he was absolutely awesome! He didn't rush me, didn't make it known (like others have before) that he was bothered by me doing an exchange versus purchasing shoes. Horrible and frustrating customer service! I walked up to a counter in the men's department to ask if I could do a return. After I asked the person at the counter she walked away saying "someone else will help you". Another associate approaches the counter not saying anything she just looking at me. I wasn't asked "Can I help you?" or greeted in any way so I said I need to do a return. Again no acknowledgement from the associate, I said "I don't have a receipt but I used my Macy's card what do you need from me, my ID?" Basically I had to lead that whole transaction because the associate had no sales or customer service skills. I had a question regarding the return policy for another item and rather than getting an answer the associate said "I don't know" and stared blankly at me. I had to ask "is there someone you can ask"? At this point she seemed frustrated that I was making her do her job. She got on the phone to ask and the response that I received was to "go down to the other side of the store, they help more with returns". It was disappointing and frustrating that my questions not only couldn't be answered but it seemed like a lack of even trying to find out on the associates part. read more

This store is awful. It never fails, the line at the only open register is always held up by women buying loads of clothing off the clearance racks who want price checks on every item and then want to argue over the price. And their sales associates in the handbag/site-to-store dept are extremely rude, ignore you and don't want to do their job! I ordered pans online and picked them up in store, hoping to avoid a long line. What a mistake that was. There were 2 associates stocking purses who both made eye contact with me and ignored me for 5 minutes! There isn't a bell or anything to ring for help when you are there to pick up an online order. I tried calling the store to ask someone to send an associate to help me and its a never ending phone tree. Finally one of the associates comes over and looks at me like "what do you want", as if i shouldn't be there. There's a big red sign advertising store pickup at the register I was at so I don't know why the dumb broad had a problem with me standing there waiting for help. She was extremely unfriendly and clearly wasn't happy to be at work.She acted like I was bothering here. read more
