I arrived at the beauty department with the goal to be informed of products, product demonstration for makeup ( as advertised online). I walked around each section and not one beauty consultant introduced themselves, offered help, or services. I finally arrived at Clinique, which I was interested in. Christine working at Clinique was the first person to acknowledge me throughout the entire beauty floor. Every other worker was on their phone or in private conversation with eachother. Christine greeted me, asked how she could help. After hearing what I was looking for she offered a product demonstration and helped me find the match for my skin tone. She did a great job of applying the products, explaining as she went. She took my 0 star experience up to a 4star. I'd give 5 if based solely on her. I personally would not make the trip to purchase my items from this beauty floor but I would consider coming back to purchase from Christine with Clinique. read more

Me and my wife were hunting for Macy's specifically, when we were in the MN downtown and decided to drive to here for its proximity. I must admit that this was one of the biggest Macy's stores that I've been to; the other two being the one at Ridgedale and the one that was in MN downtown which got closed. Finding this place on map wasn't a big deal and the parking place was quite spacious. We stopped here for a quick shopping as I had a malfunction with my cloth that I couldn't continue using it and we had a birthday party to attend to. The shop was wide open with choices of dresses in various sections and I quickly found what I needed, bought it, wore it and got me scanned on the POS counter. I rate this place 4 star for the abundant variety of dresses that they have and the hassle free checkout experience they create for their customers. I rate this place one star less for the typical pricey price of Macy's and the not-so-clean dress change rooms that they have. They could have someone have the change rooms regularly checked and cleaned up. read more

Busy location indeed. The location is filled with product, you can most likely find something you're looking for. The 'Toys R Us' section can be a wonderful place for kids and adults around the holiday season. They've dedicated adequate space to this partnership and it should be a fun journey for both parties. It's well kept, neat, and well organized. This is a hidden gem for parents trying to find gifts for their little ones. A wide range of toy/brands/names that our kids have grown to love. It's not just a shelf or two but an entire portion/section of the store that will most likely yield what you need for the holiday season. Didn't come in contact with staff, they all seemed busy helping others or with tasks. I'll be back deeper into the holiday season to see if anythings changed. read more

Sunday march 24.... what a MESS In the women's clothing departments ! No one monitoring the dressing rooms.... beautiful evening dresses strewn in big piles, some on the floor. MOUNTAINS of clothes in the dressing rooms and piled high on top of the racks. HEAVENS. A " bargain basement" atmosphere. What happened to this store?!!!! And, what has HAPPENED to the buyers?! I slowly walked the entire women's ready-to-wear examining just about everything. Old lady floral prints very boring, not lovely. Coloration combinations that felt dated, way to conservative. $98 for a Michael Kors lovely raspberry long sleeve boat neck peasant blouse with a simple ruffle, elastic neck band like the 1960's... but $98?! WOW. Prices for the nicer more flattering and pretty items VERY high. Sale signs everywhere today mostly 30 % off. But overall 80% of what i saw was too ingenue or too old lady. Prices high for better quality textiles, better cut fit. After 3 hours i came up with a very attractive bright yellow v neck blouse with a unique wrist finish on the sleeve originally $59, and two attractive black tops -- all 30 % off regular price total $115. I REALLY had to REALLY HUNT hard. Nordstroms is the new Saks Fifth Avenue -- brands and very high price points. Macys used to be a wonderful store. They used to have outstanding buyers who knew what each age group, work/home/ student/ senior loved. You used to be able to put something on and feel genuinely prettier, more attractive. Stores are too micro focused on profit and have put consumer needs wants passions as a low priority. The buyers are doing a TERRIBLE job. They have forgotten the importance of fit and drape on our many different bodies . Necklines, dropped waists, length of shirts tops have enormous impact. They have forgotten the basic human motivation that we shop for things that will make us FEEL more attractive. And when we look at ourself in this great new color - print - style and feel GREAT, we then feel HAPPY. Emotion is in this total picture! Hence shopping is now a positive experience. It's aggravating that the women's plus sizes are split up from regular size clothes. A friend and I both needed a formal dress, but unfortunately I'm a size 18 and my friend is a size 8, so to save time we had to split up and send each other pictures. Clearance racks had clothing lying on the floor. I was so overwhelmed with the mess that I could not shop there. I found tranquility and peace while shopping at Van Mar. It may be more expensive. This review is based of Men's area of Macy's, specifically dress shirts. Made a trip to Macy's to find a dress shirt for my brother. I will say they have quite the variety, but it's so wide spread, kinda makes your head spin. I found the lady was very helpful in direction. Classic fit is found in these 4 places. With that, after getting measured, with the hundreds of shirts 2 were in his size. 17 1/2 34/35 must be popular. I did like the mannequin guide and placards that showed details on what slim, modern, classic, etc fit and look like. Only giving 2 stars because with this experience, I feel quite disappointed in the selection, so many trim, slim, trendy fits, but many body types don't fit into this tailored shirt. Not everyone looking for the classic fit wants a 3 different light blues, grey, black or white shirt. More interesting patterns and colors needed. read more

I came to the shoe department last Friday in hopes of finding a new pair of cute winter boots. Although the store seemed slightly chaotic and busy, Ally came over and helped me right away. She located the two shoes I wanted and brought them out for me to try. I tried them on, she told me which ones looked best, and I took them straight to the register. The lady that rang me up, Tina I think, was not as friendly. It just seemed as if she didn't want to be there. She didn't want to ring up my 30% off Macy's code and another employee literally had to show her that the code was valid for my purchase. I love shopping at Macy's because the employees are usually friendly and of course the holiday discounts. I will definitely come back to Rosedale, but I'm hoping the employees will be more friendly. read more

Came here because son wanted a more professional looking jacket than his parka. They had just what we were looking for and I was able to set him up with a nice wool jacket (not too old looking) and some nice leather gloves. He all set to look professional walking into work. The lady in men's department that waited on us was very helpful and friendly. We did have difficulty finding the gloves though. Out of every store in that mall, it has the worst customer service. So many employees that give you dirty looks and look annoyed every time you ask them something. I have been attended multiple times to people who roll their eyes or rudely ask me to move to another place even though there is no line. You ask for a size in shoes, they probably will not have it. Their employees literally talk bad about you under their breath, especially if your Hispanic. The amount of times I have been attended and I've heard them judging me and my family in English with their coworkers is incredible. Depending on which department you are in would depend on the rating. Men's clothes will bring a sales rep immediately, but if you say you are 'just looking', they leave you alone, fine. But then you decide on what's needed and need to ask questions..and now the clerk is rude. Men's ties. There is a massive selection color coded and sorted by brand, but then many ties are mixed in with others as no one is around to straighten out the brands. There is usually a table discounted ties which is more like a Goodwill store, just a bunch of ties thrown on a table. The best area in this store is the Marketplace. Easy to find appliances sorted by brand and price with clear display areas. You may or not receive help but it's not really needed. There are more than one pay station but they are usually closed so you may have to walk to another area to pay. read more

This is my favorite Macys! I love Roseville area. I like to go there in the morning so people can not see me wearing sweats. I am a quick shopper, I know what I want and go for it. If I can't find anything usually I stay looooooooonnnnggggeeerrrr. Anways, I like this Macys a lot is because they are ORGANIZED and CLEAN. The staffs are nice too. I like it when they have these coupons sent to you through mail if you have a Macys card. I'm a bit torn with my review here, because what I loved about my experience was their inventory and discounts of suits during President's Day weekend, but it was absolutely difficult to get any help during that time. The department only had one representative working the Men's suit area on a Sunday afternoon, and he was pretty slow to help me when I was trying to ask him questions. I really just needed to know my size for a suit, and the final price for a suit after clearance. But it took me about 45 minutes to get just that. I probably would go back only if I knew exactly what I wanted, and was ready to buy it. I wouldn't recommend on hoping to get the best service in a timely fashion. I sent my 24 yr old son to Macy's Rosedale on 4/30 to look for a business suit, shirt and tie. He looked around for 45 minutes and there was not 1 person working in that department to help him. I tried calling the day before to see if they had a specific suit available for him to try on the next day - no one answered the phone and I tried for 3 hours! I tried all of the women's departments and still no answer. I finally got in touch with someone in the beauty area and he assured me that they were open. He tried to help me and gave me the number to the Southdale mens department where I finally was able to speak to an employee. I was planning on spending $400-500 so Macy's Rosedale must not need my business. My son said there were many people looking at suits so they must not need their business either. I went to Macy's today to try and find my boyfriend a sweatshirt. After looking through piles of unfolded clothes I managed to find something I liked. However it was the wrong size. So I went to find a sales associate to talk to. I found one and she was leaning over the counter looking like she was doing nothing. When I asked her if she could look up to see if the sweatshirt came in other sizes she responded "once I'm done helping him" in a very rude tone. The man she was referring to was an elderly man minding his own business. It did not look like she was Helping him at all. Confused, I walked away to go find someone else to help me. I walked up to the check out counter. The man working there was helping another customer so I waited in line. When he saw me he said "I'll be with you in a few years." That made me super confused as I would never say that to a customer. Finally another worker came up to the counter. He didn't even look at me instead he picked up a Macy's catalog and flipped through it. I was shocked. Frustrated I said "hello" and he asked if he could help me. He looked up the sweatshirt and said that there should be two sweatshirts in the size I was looking for over on the display. We walked over there and of course there was not. Rather than continue trying to find the item I was looking he suggested I go online and find it somewhere else. I was extraordinarily disappointed in the service and frankly never want to shop there again due to the lack of attention and friendliness I received. read more

Fragrance and perfume departments: Went to mall with a friend and had a ball - special thanks to Nancy, who is one of the most happiest, out going, energetic, positive people I have ever met - really knows her stuff about fragrances and is a good listener. I told her what I like and why - she showed me a few bottles - we bought one and she set us home with some samples, which I plan to come back on pay day and make a purchase for my love. Thanks again for making our mall trip not only interesting but also educational and fun. I visited the store on November 1 and was appalled by what I saw. Messy, unorganized, no staff, basically an completely uninspiring shopping experience. The Coach and Michale Kors handbags were horrible! The most high end lines in this department looked like they had not been touched by any staff in a week! Empty shelves, expensive bags on the floor, display tables were a mess with no visual. I would think the store manager would see this and have a bit of pride in his/her store. Also, I was looking for towels and what I saw was a mess of towels shoved in the shelves and of course they were on the floor. Needless to say I did not purchase any towels. The manages don't see this as they walk by this on the way to the office? Yes I realize that it might be difficult in getting help but lets face it macys has always looked like a dump long before the pandemic. I have worked retail and visual all my life and travel across the county and it's very strange because I walked the mall and even JCPenney looked better. Macys does't even come close to Von Maur at the other end of the mall! While in VM I was approached by two associated who asked me it I needed any assistance and the store looked beautiful. read more

What happened to this store? All I wanted was a pair of jeans and the place looked like a tornado had decimated their selection. Everything was torn through and messy. Literal piles of clothes on the floor, everything in disarray. For once in my life all I wanted was a little help and a pair of 34/34 jeans. I get that this is a popular size, but maybe a worker could've helped me the hour I was there scrounging through their garbage piles. Shame on me for spending so much time there, I know. The thing is, the jeans looked quality! I bought a ton of our wedding stuff there (plates, etc.) so that must be where they are making all of their money because they do not give a **** about their clothing department. I counted no fewer than FIVE Macy's employees chatting amongst themselves while right on the outskirts of the clothing dens that look as if wolves had torn through them. I was at the Roseville store and like many Macy's the quality and service is gone. I walked up to a kid working in the men's department store folding clothes - which is why I knew he worked there. He was wearing sweats??? Oh and a hoodie and he had is hoodie covering his head and headphones on jamming to music. Seriously?? I asked for help from another associate and she said no, I will not help you find someone else. She was working in the the juniors section and her name started with an F. So I don't usually shop at Macy's even though I do like their clothes, I just feel it is a little expensive compared to other retailers. I happen to be at Rosedale on a Saturday and needed a new suit, we stopped in and they were having a sale with pretty incredible prices for Macy's. I tried on a few suits in the $200-$400 dollar range, picked one out and had the associate hold it for me until the next day, (The price at this point was $200!!). I Specifically said I would be back the next day to buy it, the reason I didn't at the time was I wanted to look at 2 other stores and sleep on my decision, $200 isn't exactly chump change for this guy. Never was I told I couldn't get the same price the next day, I figured I had nothing to lose. Boy was I wrong... The next day I came in and got measured for alterations, the same person working remembers me being there the day before. We go to the register to pay and BOOM, the suit rings up at $500 bucks. I ask what happen to the price, he remembers the price from the day before and says, "Oh man, I am not sure, it looks like this suit is now full price"... Umm, Excuse me? I baking powder? I was just here the day before and there was no mention of the price changing the next day. I asked what we can do about this and why he didn't inform me of the drastic change when I put the damn thing on hold, I was under the impression that I was holding the suit at the price it was listed when I was there. I don't work retail and I understand sales change, but wouldn't the person working be expected to know what promotions are going on and advise a customer if they stand to pay more than double the price for waiting to purchase? He called a manager and explained the situation, I am told there is nothing they can do. Seriously, nothing you can do, are you F-ing kidding me? The guy helping is nice enough and offers to open a Macy's card for me and pre-sell the suit for the next sale, the price comes up to about $315 dollars after that. NO THANKS! I don't care if it was in my price range at that point, Macy's just took a shit on me and didn't even care and there is no way I am about to open a credit card with them after that garbage. It was an honest mistake on the associates part, however it was his mistake in my opinion for not knowing the promo and not telling me the consequences of putting the suit on hold, if it weren't for his genuine apology and willing to do what he was authorized to do I would have given 1 star. I went to Men's Wearhouse and bought a suit there instead, nice job Macy's. read more

I was at Macy's Roseville. About 25 customers were waiting for the doors to open at 11:00 a.m. I got there about 3 min early. We had a 10 min wait for the doors to open. This was Tuesday when the wind gusts were from 25 to 30 mph in 41 degree temperature. Many of the customers went to different doors to get in and away from the cold and wind. When I got in at a different door I was interested in purchasing a quality coat. I look at Calvin Klein area and was extremely disappointed in how the coats were presented. The hangers were not all facing the same directions. Some were half off the hangers. Different quality coats were intermixed together. Some $400 coats were mixed with much lesser value. It was not Macy quality presentation. It was very disappointing. I went away not buying anything because I could not find same coats in different sizes. I had to look at different racks to find a different size. Way too much work. I would rate this experience at a 0 with 0 being the lowest rating. read more

I don't really ever shop at macy's but my friend turned me onto their little cafe down in the basement. It's not the nicest location, she tells me the south dale one is much nicer but the ingredients are top notch. My fave lunch to get from there is the custom salad, you tell the guy which greens you like, which meat, veggies, dressing etc and they shake it all up in bowl for you so each bite gets dressing. I'm obsessed with the smoked turkey there, it's so flavorful. I also love the roasted veggies like shitake mushrooms, sweet potatoes and eggplants. I never thought of putting roasted veggies on salad before but it's so good. They use high quality ingredients too and it's priced by weight. Depending on how much they stack it up my salad is between 7-9 bucks which isn't too bad for how healthy and yummy it is. They also give you a discount if you work in the mall but I don't so I never get it :( They also have sandwiches, deli salads, frozen yogurt and gourmet food items to take home. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired but the service is friendly and the food is tasty. read more

Started off the transaction with "are you ready?" Cashier #10996137 never gave us eye contact. I can't emphasize enough how slow she was moving. So I took the liberty of helping her out because she was just grabbing the shirt with one hand & just feeling around the edges for the price tag. I handed her the tag to scan & she didn't even say thank you or anything. She read the price incredibly slow. I'm like not even able to comprehend why. She read the dollar amount, hesitated & stretched out verbalizing the cent amount. We swiped the card & she said we swiped it too fast. When we had to take the card out again she said oh nevermind. I am one for taking my time but there was no reason to be moving at molasses pace. Not to mention the hassle of even purchasing the shirt. We walked up to an employee & asked for help. He said he was about to clock out on break but if we had a quick question we can ask. Do you see what's wrong with this? Is he not still an employee of Macy's? All we asked was if we could try on the shirt & he pointed to a lady who he said would be able to measure us & tell us the size shirt. We walked up to the lady he redirected us to. My boyfriend asked "excuse me, mam?" in a very clear, confident voice. I'm not playing when I say I've never heard him speak so articulate. I kid you not 4 times. I swear to god. If you're working in an environment where you are exposed to constant customers, you should be alert. If you're not sure if someone is talking to you, you should at least look around. It wasn't like she was remotely busy. When my boyfriend was trying to get her attention, she was 6-7 feet away walking to a rack just looking at tags with what looked like no agenda. She finally looked & said, "yes?" (No apologies) We asked her to measure my boyfriend & she said no, & pointed at another lady at the customer service counter. ***I noticed a life size sign by the way that said Macy's could measure for accurate size instead of guessing. Clearly something they were promoting. We got measured by her & she gave us a size (large, slim fit) & when we asked THE QUESTION WE INITIALLY ASKED "can we try it on?" She said VERY RUDELY, "yes, it'll just be more work for us" I didn't know our business was such an inconvenience. We tried on the shirt & what do you know. The shirt was as baggy as 90s rappers' t-shirts. What if we would've taken the associate's advice & just bought the shirt without trying it on? On a separate purchase THAT SAME DAY, another associate did not remove ink tag. When exiting the store, the alarm went off & another associate in the make up department said we could just take off. When the alarm went off again, she looked at the bag & found the security tag still attached to the bra I purchased. This is not a baggy dress. It is a small item. A light item as a matter of fact, why was something as basic as a security tag missed? She tried taking off the ink tag but couldn't so she set it down & said someone else can help you & retreated back to Starbucks. I don't know if I'm just Minnesota nice & just expect this out of people, especially if you're being paid, but I am just absolutely stunned by the absence of basic customer service, or even human decency. read more

If you buy clothes from this store make sure you double check every item before leaving the store. I am so disappointed (and frustrated that I didn't double check). Now I have to go back to the store on Christmas Eve to get a tag removed. I normally wouldn't complain but this is now the third time this has happened at this store. Such a huge inconvenience. I also want to note that the staff in the shoe department were so Un-engaged and "over their job" it made the whole experience feel completely off. I get it is hard to find good help these days, but makes me want to shop online more than dealing with the poor service in the store. I'd like to say I am not going back. I am just going to say right up front that I would NEVER, under hardly any circumstances, buy clothes at a Macy's. If there is a good sale, or a brand I already trust, maybe. But for the grand bulk of their stuff- it's either too trashy, too shiny, or too dowdy. However, as a long time Shiseido/fancypants makeup user, this is the BEST place in the Cities to go for cosmetics. All the girls are very knowledgeable, they're never pushy, and they always make sure you know about good deals and events with no pressure. They definitely redeem this Macy's in my eyes. read more

I'm really not a mall goer but, my domestic associate will occasionally drag me to the Rosedale mall and our first stop is Macy's since that's where we usually park. My D.A. Usually swings by the MAC counter and pick up some beauty products. The gals that work there are friendly and seen to know the product. Sometimes I'll head to the market place down in the lower level of the store. I like to cook and they stock a wide variety of kitchen products, which I like to browse. Went to purchase a pots and pans set I saw online - luckily there was one left and I wanted to quickly ask the Macy's staff (in the cookware department) member if the deal online applied in store (granite she was quietly typing on her computer looking up something for another customer - but I did ask if I could just ask her a quick question and she shrugged her shoulders, she seemed annoyed) she responded saying yes, so I grabbed the last set and went to another customer service desk (in bedding) the woman there was nice but didn't know how to do the promo for the set. The woman from the cookware desk came over, very friendly all of a sudden and willing to help. We tallied up the total and it was $139.00 then seconds later she rang it up and it was $209.00 - I was confused how that happened, then it was $220.00, after that $159.00 - it came with another promo deal of 3 free baking sheets (value $85). I don't understand how the price kept changing when it was on sale for $199.00 with 20% off? It took several minutes to figure out, then finally after over 30min we figured it out. Total coming out to $180 which is what I assumed the price would be. She was very nice but I don't think it should've been that difficult or taken up that much time for one item. Stopped by today at lunch and wanted a Tommy Bahama shirt and the lady at the counter was so very rude. I found a shirt but not in my size and I asked if they may have one in back in the correct size? She looked it up on the computer and said we show 4 of them in the store and if I wanted to find one I could go dig through the piles of clothing in the dressing rooms!!! It was noon and the pile was nothing less tan 5 feet tall like they haven't put anything away in who knows how long. This was a joke if you like to spend money with horrible service try shopping here. FYI I worked at Macys Polo section out of college over 20 years and if I treated someone like this I would have fired myself. I will not be going back!!! read more
