This is the horror story experience I am in the middle of at Macy's Men and Home Store. The only reason it's getting one star, is because the salesman my boyfriend and I spoke to on the first day (Neil) was professional, nice, knowledgable and very helpful in choosing our mattress. My boyfriend and I (both 27 years old) are moving in together. As a gift, my parents wanted to buy us a bed. We shopped around and found an amazing Simmons mattress with the help of an associate (who was amazing), although we were coming back the next day to make a purchase, he informed us he would not be there - I wanted to make sure he got the proper credit for helping us choose. We returned the next day to another associate (seeming professional at the time) set up the order for the other salesman the next day ( because it was the start of the sale where we could get an additional 10% off the sale price). We set a date 4/20 for the delivery between 2:30-4:30 (today). All this week we have been hustling to get the room ready (painting, etc.) so we could stay in the new place tonight. I took today off of work so that I could be there for the bed to arrive. Never came! No calls, or email updates were never received. I called the Macy's hotline and they had no record of our order. I said two Hail Mary's for the manager I would be talking to about the matter because I was livid. However, I don't believe that yelling at someone solves a problem, so I am always courteous no matter the problem at hand - theres always a solution. I find out, mattress order was never sent. I know it was probably miscommunication between the sales rep who started the order, who probably never informed the salesman we spoke with. I was there by myself, and the manager informed me that we would obviously still get the sale price, and I said I would have my parents come back because I didn't have their charge card naturally. I expressed that I was really frustrated because I had taken time off work, and was set to stay at the new place tonight. The manager had the balls to say to me "There's always the couch". I stared at him for a minute and just walked away even more pissed. Are you KIDDING me!? I should've been sleeping on a mattress I had ordered two weeks ago... They dropped the ball on this, and he had the nerve to talk to me like that! I know I look very young for my age, and I didn't pay for the mattress, I don't care what this guy thought, I can't believe he spoke to a customer like that. We were thinking about purchasing other furnishings from the store, but after that my boyfriend and I are taking our money elsewhere. When my parents went in, the guy who wrote the sale up for us pretended to not remember. Great job, buddy. Way to own up to the fact you played a huge role in this big mistake. Still waiting to hear if we are getting an additional discount for the extreme inconvenience it has caused us. I can't wait for them to call so I can let them know how I was treated when I went in. I am also in the process of writing to corporate about the matter. Disgusted. Now I know why that place has been deserted every time I went in. read more

Today my wife had a return. She went to 2 registers and was turned away by overwhelmed staff that said they were to busy and told her to go to another area. Very rude. Went to a third area and woman cleared the return in less then two minutes. It was a very bad experience. Won't go back read more

I wish could give it -0 and I would The cashier named Edward he is a prick he works Macy`s women my girl friend and I went to shop. Edward was ringing us out he did not make eye contact at all. He ask us four times to join the Macy`s reward program we said no four time We had coupons for 20% off or 25% off for using your Macy`s credit card he would not honor them he told us they were not valid. I do not recommend buying furniture from any Macy's department store. I purchased a living room suite of "leather" furniture that turned out to be the thinnest possible leather. They hard sold the insurance plan, guaranteed to cover damage from claws and pet waste, even though I told the sales person that I run a cat rescue. $368.00. Made a claim in May....they kept sending me requests for photos, I kept sending photos. Finally called Macys, who sent me back to the people who ignored my claim. Denied. Damage from neglect. Yes, I neglected to de-claw my cats. Then I called the store to ask for a refund of the insurance money I paid....5 days later, still waiting for the furniture manager to call me back because the "customer service" apparently does not provide customer service. This 5 star review is solely based of Jeff in the men's shoe department. The customer service that Jeff provided exceeded our expectations. We had been on an exhausting hunt for 7 pairs of men's shoes for our wedding, and couldn't find what we were looking for. Jeff helped us find exactly what we wanted, was personable, listened to what we were looking for, and went above and beyond to help us. A week later, my fiancé are still talking about how awesome Jeff is and how we will be back for more shoes. Good customer service is hard to find, but Jeff nailed it, 150%. read more

I usually shop at the Macy's in Saugus, but I was in the area. For the most part the store was fine. But there was this one guy that I can't believe has a job here. I literally had to make this yelp account because I could believe what I saw. Some guy who worked there was complaining about a purchase he just made at another store. Had no interest in helping the woman that was standing there. I didn't catch his name but he had a slight stutter and kept mentioning a delivery not being done correctly, possible kitchen related. He also kept talking about posting a yelp review. I understand that people have problems, but do your damn job. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. Incompetence of management is amazing. Advertised HUGE hiring event. Part time and full time positions they stated. At the interview the same day management stated no jobs available after setting up interviews with many people. No wonder no one is ever in that store. I must admit, I'm not usually a Macy's shopper. But last week I found myself looking for a particular electric kettle, and Macy's was the closest store to me that carried it. When I got there, I immediately got lost. Luckily, I bumped into an employee named Alice who was able to point me in the right direction. I have been a customer of Macys for over 30 years and in the past they always had great quality furniture, not anymore. I purchased a dining room set from them in 2015. It was about $2500.00 (sale price). This was a formal set that was rarely used. We only used it for the holidays. Well in 2 years of owning it, the arm of one of the chairs just broke off and it wasn't a clean break it must have been a knot in the poor quality wood. Another chair shortly after had the leg break in half. Once again poor quality wood because they break was right in half not something you could fix. within 5 years the entire thing was just falling apart. It was clearly particle board and low grade lumber. I called Macy's to complain and told them this set didn't even last 3 years and that I wanted to return it for a refund. They told me that they no longer carried that brand. Hmmm surprise surprise. They carried and sold this cheap quality Chinese import, sold it for far more than it was worth, discontinued it knowing it was trash then refused to honor the purchase with a refund to customers who got burned. I will NEVER buy furniture from Macy's again. I can get a solid wood farm table hand made for 1200.00 all day long. It's just not worth it to buy this throw away furniture that Macy's refuses to stand behind. They also sell engineered leather as genuine at genuine prices, so buyer beware. read more

The cosmetic counters are dirty from top to bottom, the cosmetic manager is rude and in violation of employee's right. She stated to one of the cosmetic employees when they had executive visitors, "to look smart." When one of the employees gave her two weeks notice, she asked several of the other cosmetic girls to go and ask her where she was going, as far as her other job. Because, it has been known that once the cosmetic manager Kelly finds out your new job she would call that place of business and give you a bad representation, therefore, making it hard for you to get another job; which is very illegal. This review is for the shoe department at the Macy's in North Shore Mall (Peabody location). I was waiting in line to make size exchange for an online-ordered pair of sandals. I was holding the shoe box with its receipt. It was my turn but the agent named Kathy called another client behind me to serve first and told me that because I returned so I had to wait for another agent next to her, who was serving another client. Agent Kathy did not even ask me "what help do you need" as other agents usually do, she assumed that I wanted to return it. I told her that I did not return, I would like to exchange for a bigger size. She did not say anything, so I continued waiting for the other agent as she said. When the other agent was done with an earlier client and knew that I wanted to exchange, she told me that I had to wait for Kathy as only Kathy could do the exchange, she only did the return. At that time, Kathy was still serving the client who had been behind me earlier and they spoke in their own language. I was patiently waiting for her. Finally, she called me and did not say any sorry about her earlier skipping me. She went inside to get the size that I need and after about 5-7 minutes she came back with two boxes. Instead of doing the exchange transaction for me, she started to ask another client who was being served by her colleague about the client's issue. After 1-2 minutes talking with that client, she started to do the exchange transaction for me. When today price of the sandals is higher than the online price that I ordered earlier, she told her colleague that she needed the manager to approve this exchange transaction. I waited after 2 minutes, she started to enter something and it went through and she asked me to sign. It appeared either she had forgotten how to do it and suddenly remembered or she wanted to make my waiting time longer. I left with a very unpleasant feeling. read more

Whenever I go to the mall, I stop by Macy's. I needed some help finding brief cases. I was looking around for an employee when I found a girl named Alice. Although she doesn't normally work on the floor, she was incredibly sweet and very helpful. I will definitely be back!! 10/10 :) read more
