Asked the cashier lady if I can the 25% coupon. The cashier lady at the women's active wears said No, she said not for active wears, which I am totally okay with that. 25% is nothing! But Just the way she answered me, her body language and her facial expression make me walked away feeling so disappointed. I spent almost $300. I don't think this woman like her job. She needs customer service training skills. The worst customer service for the department store!! By the way I will return everything I bought tomorrow. This is more of a review of the Macy's online shopping experience, but there's no Yelp for that as far as I can tell. So, I know, Macy's never beats Nordstrom, nor for that matter The Bon (I'm really dating myself), but I needed some things for an upcoming trip, & dove in at the suggestion of a deal site that said Macy's promises fantastic deals over Memorial Day. Long story short: NOT. Don't bother. The codes won't work on anything, really, despite promises to the contrary, nor does signing up for an account (THAT discount won't apply until your next purchase, but that fact is buried until too late). I've probably opened myself to spam for the next decade or so. I spent hours scrolling through flimsy fabrics/cheap junk made in China/Vietnam/Indonesia or wherever, & could only find 4 items that were barely passable & that I put in my cart. BTW, the site lacks closeups or descriptions of details; you just basically have to hope for the best. I put in the MEMDAY promo code & got a message that it doesn't apply. I opted to pick up instore, but it got the store wrong for the ONE item in stock- & I couldn't change it -the rest have to be shipped. God knows if they'll arrive on time before I leave. The other really annoying thing is that the "suggested retail" prices shown (to make you think you're getting a deal) really never sold at that price, a fact Macy's doesn't bother to disclose until you're in the checkout cart, nor do they disclose until that moment that the items you're buying are not guaranteed to be in stock or to ship! So this is what American retail has come to. Very, very sad! The only thing that's NOT illusory in a Macy's transaction, apparently, is the money they take from you for very little in exchange. read more

I buy my clothes at the Alderwood Macy's. They have a good suit department for men, and good casual clothing. In the Nautica and Polo section, I just look for Cathy Hardy's help. She has been at the Alderwood location for what, a dozen years? With her help, picking styles and colors, I'm not a helpless man in construction anymore. Even my kids think I buy well there. We don't shop here as much as we used to due to the service. They seem to short staff all departments aside from makeup and fragrance counters. This has been a consistent issue. We have most back to school shopping complete but came today to get some shoes for our daughter as well as some items for myself. I choose a pair of Ugg boots and waited 15 minutes to get the attention of the salesman. He said he would be right back with the shoes. 20 minutes go by as I wait patiently and also help my daughter look for something in the same area. I finally realize it's been almost 40 minutes since we came to the shoe dept. and no shoes! I go to find my guy and he looks up at me and says "can I help you?" Of course I'm super irritated when I remind him of the boots he was to get me. We finally leave after not being able to get help in the kids department because there is a line around the cashier and he's the only one down there. To his credit, my guy tried to help but by that time we had been there an hour so I just paid for my boots and 2 bras totaling over $200 and left. This is why we have stopped shopping here. I will buy Christmas ornaments and the occasional DKNY bra but am soooooo over the raise in prices with the drop in customer service. If you charge the same price as the "other" big department store in the mall, you should make the extra effort on a holiday weekend to staff the store appropriately. read more

The online ordering experience for me was the worst. I had ordered something from a wedding registry and so when I arrived on site, I parked in the will call parking. One would think that will call would be close to the door next to the will call parking. There was no sign at all in the store directing one to will call or online pickups. So I went upstairs to the home section. There were two people ahead of me in line. There were two people behind the counter but only one working the counter. The cashier was really sweet and nice but so slow I've seen molasses move faster on a winter night, outside, in Alaska. So I finally get to the cashier and she tells me that I need to pickup online orders from the men's section. I get to the men's section and saw a few people in line ahead of me but just went straight to the cashier and asked if I was in the right spot. She said to go to the young men's section. I followed the signs to the young men's and ended up circling the store. I started getting aggravated and noticed a guy whom worked there sorting clothes on a rack. I asked him for help and he was so kind, he personally escorted me to the pickup spot. He showed me how I got turned around, because the sign to young men's was pointing the wrong way. There was no sign for online pickups or will call. This was the worst Macy's experience I have ever had. It is problems like this that make me avoid the mall at all costs. It would have been way faster for me to just go inside, look up the wedding registry and get it from the home section, and pay for it, and probably do more shopping. For a quick grab and go, it took me at least 45 minutes. I asked the clerk to notify the manager that this place needs better signage. read more

The Alderwood Mall Macy's has been around for years and years as it was of course the Bon Marche before Macy's took over the company. The store itself has seen many changes over the years as both the store and the entire mall have gone through major renovations. Overall the store is pretty standard as far as Macy's goes. it has a pretty spacious layout with two floors of available space and the product selection is on par with what you would see walking in to any Macy's around the greater Seattle area. Not a whole lot else to say really other than you will like it if you are a Macy's shopper and if not then you probably won't want to walk in anyway. read more

So, I've been anti-Macy's since they swallowed up the Bon, but we have received some excellent customer service here. The salespeople are genuinely helpful and engaging. During the last several visits, there has been no pressure from any of the staff. I took away a star because I believe they are more pricey than the Bon was, and their clearance signs are very misleading. However, they have a wide assortment of handbags - Dooney and Bourke, which is my favorite, is particularly impressive. Oh yeah, and no shopping review is complete without potty room observations. Since I'm not a man, I can't really say how the men's bathrooms are, but the women's "lounges" are quite nice. So, if nothing else, this is a great place to browse and pee! read more

At the beginning of my most recent Macy's experience, I was already expecting to write up a "meh" Yelp review. My wife and I spend most of our time shopping at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack and have always been impressed with their customer service. We have also shopped at Macy's, but have never been "wowed" by their team. In fact, there have been times where we were taken aback by how indifferent the staff was (granted, it was during the Christmas rush which could mean a seasonal employee, but still...). For this reason, I was prepared for an average experience. I was returning a purse that I purchased for my wife (I know, pretty gutsy to buy one for her in the first place). It was a Saturday afternoon and pretty busy. I approached the customer service desk and explained what I wanted to do. Satinder (sp?), the Macy's team member, greeted me warmly, despite assisting another customer who continued to demand her attention. After assisting the other customer, Satinder took my receipt and began the return process. I didn't have my wife's debit card which was used in the original transaction and that caused a glitch in the computer system that Satinder could not override. She called a manager to assist. After a few minutes of waiting, Satinder apologized for the delay. She completed the transaction, thanked me for my business, and ultimately surprised me with her pleasant demeanor. They seem to always have sales, well, at least for the men's department. This weekend only, if you donate $2 to the American Heart association, you get 20% off! One thing to note is their customer service, usually quite helpful on a consistent level. I compare this to our Bay department store, as it's in the same market (not too high-end, though some Macy locations do carry Lacoste) but at the Bay oakridge, i never seem to find enough retail ppl to look for sizes, colours, etc. At Macy's it's much better, they actually walk to find what you want... read more

I usually don't review Department stores. Most of the time the service is the same and sub par at best. The experience I had this weekend is making me write this review. Needed to find a bridal shower gift so I packed up the kid and the husband and off to Macy's it was. I wouldn't normally scope them out but I am a card holder and I had a good coupon. Picked out a nightgown and headed to the register. It was around 7 pm and slow up there but so was the cashier. There were 2 customers in front of me, one was making a return and the other a purchase. The cashier was the most air headed and slowest person on the face of the planet. She got a call and she literally picked up the phone and said "Hello" instead of Macy's intimate appeal can I help you?". The customer must have been pissed because she then corrected herself but asked the caller "What's up?" Really?! I literally stood in line 15 Min's while she rang the lady up in front of me. The lady only had like 3 bras and some undies, 15 Min's! I finally got fed up after another employee came up because a lady had a question about her damn coupon and I knew that the airhead would be answering that before she got to me and taking the call too. I dropped my stuff, said a few choice words and left. I would have gone to another register, but none of them had employees at them. Never had this issue with any other department that I have been to in this store. read more

I came in here to buy a suit. Not a men's suit, not a swim suit, but a misses suit. This was after the ladies at Nordstrom's Point of View told me that women aren't wearing suits anymore. Their misses suits are tucked away on the second floor. If you can find it, you're in business. The dressing room isn't terribly busy, so that was a bonus. A nice lady helped me find the size I needed, but she didn't upsell or try to push me on colors I didn't want. Yay! She also set me up with a promotion they were having that day. I ended up with a $200 Calvin Klein Suit for $95 that needs no alterations. Thanks again Macy's, that lady you have made the experience painless. read more

I'm beyond disappointed with how I was treated at the Alderwood Macy's tonight. While checking out, the cashier Skylar was clearly upset about something as he kept slamming things down and cursing under his breath. I blew it off and thought nothing of it, assuming he'd probably just had a rough night. He finishes ringing me up and I pay for my stuff. He then wads up my stuff with the receipt and throws it at me. I look at him a little confused, so then he says "oh let me guess, you want a bag?" I said yes please. He says "of course you do." He opens the bag and while staring me dead in the eyes says "here put it in, like a good little girl". In complete shock, I said "are you serious?" He responded by saying "oh I'm very serious, what are you gonna do about it?" In an attempt to end this extremely uncomfortable encounter, I said have a good night and proceeded to walk away. He walked out from behind the counter and followed closely behind me as if to provoke or intimidate me. I was scared for my well-being at this point so I quickly walked to the other side of the store, as far as I could get from him. I asked the first associate I saw to please call a manager. While waiting for the manager to come I see him go up the escalator staring at me. The manager comes and I discuss it with him, he calls another manager over and they discuss the situation then walk over to where Skylar was working. Roughly 30 minutes pass and I see one of the managers again. I asked her if they spoke with him and she said oh he left before we could talk to him, which she didn't know for sure. For all she knew he could still be in the store walking around, or waiting outside for me to leave since he knew I reported him to the manager. I asked if one of the security guards could watch me walk to my car Incase he's waiting outside. They call security, who responded by saying that's not their job. So I had to walk to my car alone, at 11 pm, in the dark, not knowing if this psychopath is waiting to attack me. After what happened tonight I plan to close my Macy's account and never do business with them again. I don't know what's worse, the little punks attitude and sexist remarks or the way management just blew it off as if it's normal for their staff to treat customers poorly. I think Macy's needs to do a better job at picking their employees before they end up with a lawsuit on their hands. read more

Stopped by the Market at Macys at the Sutra Hair Care kiosk. The young lady running the show (Mikayla) really showed pride in her product. I am definitely going back to buy a straightener, and straightening comb....they have an amazing straightening brush too. I purchased theyre shampoo, conditioner and hair serum...with no pressure, just lots of education on the product..which made it easier to buy!! Mikayla really knows her stuff and has a smile that lights up the entire store! read more

This is the reason why I stopped shopping at Macy's years ago! I purchased a dress (completely unworn w/ the tag and receipt attached) 10 months ago. I was told it could not be returned because it exceeded 180 days and now it's only worth .01 cent. I had called Macy's customer service prior to coming and they told me I could return it for store credit, which I was perfectly fine w/. Not to sound snooty, but I'm a Nordstrom shopper. I could have purchased the item 2 years ago and could easily return it even w/ out a receipt and worn! I would never do that but that definitely tells you why people LOVE Nordstrom's!!! Along with being friendly, the staff went out of their way to make our shopping experience great. We were not big spenders, but they treated us like we were spending thousands! I love Macys. They have amazing quality of clothing, accessories, shoes, and much more! They have prices that are worth paying for because of how amazing it is.They have really professional staff and i LOVE their perfume and jewelry! I also love their interior and location because there is everything there. This store is HUGE but i love huge stores because there is so much to choose from and buy. They have really nice dresses as well, but i only had one problem which was that i couldnt find a slip to go under my dress, and the one i found was almost $200! and thats not reasonable at all. I have been trying to extend the pickup date of a pair of dress shoes I've already paid for because I have another order (a suit) that won't be ready for a few days after the first. I ordered both the shoes and suit at the same time. I do not want to pick up the orders during the week as I work and do not live close to the Alderwood Mall Macy's so I wanted to extend the pickup date until a Sunday where I could pick up both orders at once on my day off. I called the Alderwood Macy's directly and after cycling through the menu options was on hold for 10 minutes and the hung up and decided to call Macy's customer service. I talked to customer service and they said they could not do anything and had to be in the store to make the change I'm requesting. I asked the customer service representative to provide me a direct line to the Alderwood Macy's so I could get this taken care of. He transferred me to Macy's credit card department. I've asked the Macy's representative in the credit card department to transfer me directly to Alderwood Mall Macy's to get this taken care of. Here I am 41 minutes later at the time of writing this and still on hold as Macy's credit card department has been trying to transfer me to the Macy's at Alderwood Mall. Something that should have taken 2 minutes to extend a pickup date is now encroaching on an hour! Update: This was solved after 79 total minutes. read more

My daughter was recently at the mall hanging with friends when she decided to stop by the macy's store and take a look around. She had found the mattress area when she decided to quick seat when not even a minute in she was approached by one of the workers in that department. Following this, the worker had yelled at them saying to get off and it was "not a kid zone". I had one of the most HUMILIATING and HORRIBLE experiences of retail shopping at Macy's a couple weeks ago and I will never shop in their stockings/gloves/scarves department ever again. My sales lady was this older and bigger lady with mussed up gray hair. My mom was purchasing some hosiery but one of her items rang up at full price when it was supposed to be on sale. When I told her this, she gave us the stank eye and walked away to see if what we were saying was right. Meanwhile, I was looking at the gloves while my mom waited in line. When she came back, a small line was forming behind my mom but those customers were getting super agitated by how long it was taking. When the lady finally came back, she began to ring us up and I handed my mom one of the gloves to add to the pile of three items but at the last minute, I decided that I didn't want the gloves. So I apologized and the sales lady basically hands me BACK the gloves so i can put it away! I don't mind it but I just thought it was REALLY rude. I mean, I've worked retail before and i have NEVER done that do a customer. And this lady behind us starts complaining really loudly and the sales lady basically joins in the complaining once we're done ringing up. Even though I have to pay a little bit more, I'm taking my business to Nordstrom. I have always received respect and quality from their sales PROFESSIONALS. You lost my business, my families' business and my friends' business. read more

This is probably the worst department store I have ever been to. Not only do they seem to be out of stock in a wide variety of products but their customer service is appalling. I live closer to Everett but chose to come to the Alderwood store because I expected better customer service than the Macy's in the Everett Mall. The first time I went I needed a specific item: a buttoned down red shirt for an interview. I chose not to bother the employees because I work retail and know they might not know where every single red shirt is they have. After finding a couple I headed to the closest fitting room. All the rooms were empty except for one that had some clothes hanging on the back of the door. There were no employees for me to ask if someone was using the room and there were no other customers around that might have been using the room. I headed inside since I only had two shirts to try on. I come out to show my sister and the missing employee is back with the lady that she had been saving the room for. She rudely tells me that the room was reserved and just glares at me. I tell her I can get my stuff and leave if she needs the room. Instead of saying anything to me she grabs the clothes off the door and apologizes to the other woman and says that they will find another room for her. Honestly, I know that people can have rough days and it can be hard to be polite to every customer if you're a little irritated so I tried and cut her some slack. I kept looking for a red shirt and decided to just go to a different fitting room. This time before I went in I asked if I could have any of the rooms. The employee at that fitting room seemed much more pleasant. After I was done I asked her where the hosiery was because for some reason I kept getting turned around in the store. She pointed in some vague direction and told me "Over there." The Alderwood Macy's is a big store. "Over there" and some limp hand gesture is really not the kind of customer service I would expect when I was planning on shelling out over $100. I decided I would just try and not bug anymore of the employees, wrong move. I wander around for at least 10 minutes before finding the nylons. At this point I just want to get out of there since I had been in the store for over an hour and was tired of being treated poorly. Today, I decided to return to Macy's since I had grabbed the wrong style of nylons. It had been about a month since I had shopped there so I figured I could expect different employees and hopefully better service. The only problem going is was that I couldn't find my receipt although I had paid with a debit card and had that. I approached the first cashier counter and asked the lady if I could return the nylons. She asks if they were open, which they were although I repackaged them since it took me trying them on to realize they were the wrong style. She said that she couldn't return them and I'd have to go over to hosiery. Oh no, I barely found that place last time. When I ask her where that was she gave me an irritated look and did the limp hand gesture thing. I didn't want to ask for more clarification since I'm not sure she knew where it was other than "over there", so I headed out. Thankfully it only took me a couple minutes this time. When I got there I greeted the lady behind the counter and told her I needed to return something. She dawdled for over a minute fixing God knows what before coming over. When I told her I didn't have a receipt she asked if I had a Macy's card, which I don't. Instead, I volunteered my debit card since even places like Target can look up your purchases. She didn't say anything and fumbled around with the nylons and her cash register. The entire time she muttered under her breath how ridiculous it was that I didn't have a receipt, like that has never happened to her. In the end she handed me a gift card with the amount back on it. She didn't take the time to explain to me why she had to put it on the gift card or why my debit card wouldn't work. Honestly, I would expect better from Macy's. I don't usually shop there and usually go to JCPennys or somewhere else. When I'm paying premium prices it is only fair to expect better or just polite customer service. I ride the bus to work and have gotten better service from the bus drivers. I would even say I have gotten better customer service from Target which is definitely not trying to compete with Macy's. Now I have some gift card with money at a store I will probably never shop at again. Cheers. read more

Linda in houdewares was very helpful as we saved over $400 on All clad cookware. She did everything possible to save us the most money but duh after we made the purchase we looked on line to find out that in Canada the price for a 10 pc set was the same & given the exchange it would have been cheaper. If not for the savings Linda generated for us through friends & family deal & credit application which gave another $100 bonus we would not have bought here. Thank you Linda for all your help & making it a pleasant shopping experience for us. Also we pay whats owing on macys credit card b/c by the time we get the bill in Canada its already overdue. But in the past Macys have adjusted that so we were not penalized. read more

Long time Macy's shopper; went in around 10:00AM on Black Friday, well after the Thanksgiving rush. As expected, staff was fairly worn out. What bothered me was how long it took to be able to pay for clothing items. Walked around for over 15 minutes with a sweater and shirt, but each time I approached a register, either the person wouldn't engage or they walked away with other items to return them to the sales floor without even an acknowledgement. Walked by the same two staff members talking in the walkway through Men's Clothing three times and never once was asked if I needed help. I understand everyone is tired, but you are still in the customer service business. read more

The furniture delivery is the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Apparently they set the delivery window and don't let you know that they are going to choose a random time to deliver your furniture. This means you only get your window the day before your furniture is supposed to be delivered. How is anyone supposed to realistically manage this? This makes no sense at all. We ordered jewelry from Macys.com and your store sent us the pendant with a white gold chain that has three giant knots in it. No jewelry box included. How ridiculous.
