Dillard's - Irving

My husband and I were in the area and stumbled upon this Dillard's, which is a "Dillard's clearance…read morecenter". The store had brand new clothes that were at least 50-60% off of the original tag. Some of the items were still more expensive than I thought it should be given the dated look and style. For example, a 2024 "Mr. And Mrs." Wine glasses were still like $10! If you gave me that for $1, I wouldn't even want it. There was a huge selection of men's, women's and children's clothing. Not so much home goods. There were some bedding, and curtains, but I did not see any kitchen gadgets or appliances. You have to have patience to go in here and dig through the racks!

Plenty of items at great discount prices, but my first experience here left me scratching my head…read more I found a dress I liked that was missing the inner slip. No big deal.... I grabbed the same dress in another size to show the cashier, just to see if they could offer a small discount. The cashier called over a manager, who quickly shut it down and said they couldn't do any further markdowns. Fair enough..... I wasn't totally sold on the dress anyway. But then it got weird. The manager told me they couldn't sell it at all because it was missing a part. I was stunned. I wasn't asking for anything wild, and I was buying other items too... I was definitely not trying to be difficult. As someone who also works in retail, the whole interaction felt unnecessarily rigid and like a strange power move. Disappointing first visit.

This store is truly a giant thrift store with a massive selection--there's a ton to browse through,…read morefrom clothes to shoes and just about everything in between. It can feel a bit overwhelming because items are everywhere, but if you enjoy digging, this is the place for you. They had some discounts when I went, depending on the colour of the tag, between 25 to 70%. The staff is kind and welcoming, and there's plenty of free parking outside, which makes visiting easy. The main downside: there are no dressing rooms, only bathrooms, and all sales are final--no returns or exchanges. Definitely keep that in mind before purchasing.

Wish I had more time and more money. My biggest find was in the variety of jeans even thought I…read morecame in for sweaters. I rarely find Long or Extra Long jeans and there was a big selection. Like most thrift stores, they price certain brands higher. The NYandCompany were $12.99. I bought one pair and just could not spring for the other. I found some Torrid XLT. As I prepared to leave Dallas, my only regret was that I only bought one pair of the NYandCompany tall jeans. Saturday was a 50% off sale and just couldn't get them all for full price knowing they would be on sale in a few days. I also needed a coat but the coats at the front door were $69.99. I can get new coats on Amazon for that. Historically, thrifting is something people did because they couldn't pay department store prices. Now the thrust shops are pricing the clothes they got for free with department store prices. That is sad is these difficult times. Other than that, they had a great selection. I came for sweaters and did get some that had the sticker color for the day.
