I remember when Macy's was L. S. Ayres. The brand had an air of mid America exclusivity. Macy's, post pandemic, has quietly rebranded to be reminiscent of Kohls or Target. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but their prices haven't experienced the same rebrand. This Macy's is one of the better stores I've had a chance to visit. It's expansive, encompassing multiple floors and it carries a wide range of merchandise. On this particular visit, there was a live DJ spinning hits circa the 90's and beyond. That added a hint of excitement to my visit. There was lots of merchandise and brands I hadn't seen at my local stores. I wasn't wowed to purchase anything, but I saw plenty of things I liked. The staff appeared to be courteous and efficient. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again. read more

We bought a Beautyrest mattress from Macy's. I remember the salesperson say, the mattress was guaranteed for a full 10 years. After 9 years, the mattress was sagging badly. Macy's said they would send out an inspector. After the inspector left, just 15 minutes later, someone from a foreign country called and said the mattress is 9 years old and not covered. Avoid the extended warranty. It sucks. read more

Zero stars if i could. This Macy's is the reason people shop online. Store is not open when it says it is. Makes it impossible to pick up paid for goods. No one working or answering phones. Short Macy's stock. What a shit show. The last time I walked in there were no sales people on the entire floor. I'm not exaggerating. Nobody. This time at the height of the Christmas shopping season there were plenty. I picked up three identical items, Francos to give us gifts. Three successive sales ladies failed to be capable to ring up these items. Each one in succession first hounds you with is it on a Macy's card and would you like to sign up for one and do you have a phone number associated with it no lady I just told you I don't have one. So after having that conversation three times when there automated scanners couldn't read the scam on their own in-house properly labeled items, she said let me try another fourth register and I said how about I just leave. I'm not sure I will ever sit foot in this miserably inefficient store. They suck for having destroyed what little regional appeal the various chains that they swallowed had like burdens here in Florida or Marshall Fields in Chicago, so I think I'll just avoid them all together in the future. Retail may be dead, but rigor mortis has set in at Macy's. read more

I went into Macy's to look at their casual jackets and I was pleasantly surprised with the colors, selection and prices. Some of them were really sharp looking and the colors were very vibrant and modern. I tried a few on and I will do a bit more research to see what do I end up with...but let me tell you....this store had some really good options... read more

This Macys is located in the Galleria Mall Fort Lauderdale. The store is easily accessible 3 stories by escalator and a Starbucks coffee shop in the vicinity with plenty of seating. The mall and the Macys department store are a beautiful sight but were a real ghost town. Plenty of employees observed in all sections of the store but hard to find customers. But, no crowds here so very easy shopping experience. Will return for sure. read more

I have been a Macy's loyal customer for decades. Over the last few years I have mostly used their online services. Yesterday was a rainy Sunday, so I decided to go to the Galleria store in person. What a mistake! I visited the Clinique counter to buy some foundation. A saleswoman approached me and started ranting and raving about how dry my face was. I was so embarrassed! She keep insisting that I needed to go to her counter for a moisturizer. I told her that I was not interested in moisturizer and just wanted foundation. I asked her what shade I should buy. She flippantly said I needed "ivory" - I am no where near ivory. i ignored her and started trying on shades and focused in on Honey. She quickly dug through the drawer and found a Honey bottle and started ringing me up, without even asking me if I wanted to buy it. I was furious and started walking away, indicating I would come back after I looked around upstairs. She got really angry and said that I couldn't do that because when I came back she might be "on break". Obviously she was only concerned about her commission. I have worked hard for my money my whole life and expect to be treated with respect when I visit a department store to spend it. If this little witch was selling water bottles during a drought, I wouldn't give her my money. Macy's you need to train your employees about customer service and respect. No matter what their "culture" is, they need to show those who pay their salary and keep the lights on in her place of employment respect and gratitude for their patronage. I went home and bought three Clinique items online and this little witch missed her commission. Wake up Macy's! read more

A solid anchor store location. I'd say 90% was organized and well kept, with a few areas that needed a little help. Not a big deal, customers are customers, LOL! It's easy to see how one customer can mess up a whole spot that may have been clean five minutes before you got there. They have several clearance sections throughout the store, so be sure to walk around each section and check those out. They had a great deal of Carter's baby stuff on sale, so that was nice! I grabbed up an outfit to take home to munchy. Overall: A Solid anchor store, clean, well-kept and stocked with all the usual items. read more

This has been the Macy's I go to for years as it's very close to my house. Every December my mom and I come here to look for clothes for my birthday present. We were here a. month ago. Despite racks and racks of clothing there was only one top that I actually liked and it was too small. I asked a saleswoman to check and see if another store had it in a larger size, which she did. She then tried to hand me back the top and I told her that I didnt want it because it was too small. She looked at me as if I had annoyed her. I ended up calling the Boca store and they had the top and they shipped it. The woman there was very helpful. I will continue to order things online from Macy's occasionally but was not impressed with what I saw it in the store this past month. read more

You were my favorite store for years now just a said empty department store. Very dirty and worn out gone are the days you were shiny and new. I remember when you were Burdine's back in the '80's Store #22 for those who worked for them. Came here for something new and exciting but couldn't find a damn thing although I tried. Looked in lingerie not a sales person to be found. Onto clothing, housewares and lastly shoes hopefully you will rebound some day soon before they pull the plug on another dinosaur. The ladies room if anything really needs a good cleaning. If you have to charge why not they do in Europe. read more

It never fails at Macy's to be able to find what I came for, get great associates to help and save money on your purchases. Here at the Macy's at The Galleria I seem to be able to park, shop and pay for what I want and be out quickly. I wanted to start shopping for our summer trips and needed shorts, pants, shirts and a light jacket, all casual. After trying on the shorts one of the associates who was holding them for me became our sales person for the day. I picked up some pants and Polo shirts and she and another associate tried to find a way to save me the most money based on the timing of the sales. They were willing to hold the shirts until the sale went on so I could save 30%. Lo and behold they figured out there is a 50% off sale now so each Polo shirt was $29.99. Crazy. She took me around to find me the sales on other rounded neck pullovers and a light jacket. I am not one that has the patience for shopping but she made it into a successful day of shopping and felt I saved time and money today because of her. The result was 14 items that I left with in an hour and a half and saved on average of 30%. The days of online shopping leaves these experiences far and few between and that is why I keep coming back for men's clothing. They have a great variety of casual clothes, so many discounts and I can get it done all in one visit. This Macy's at The Galleria is my favorite!!! read more

This was my go to store at my go to mall years ago when I worked downtown Fort Lauderdale. It was Burdines when I first started shopping here. Both stores were owned by Federated and for a very short time it was known as Burdines-Macy's. And then in 2005, the Burdines name was dropped. I was sorry to see the local Florida store go -- the buyers knew that we didn't need as much winter wear, and catered year round to our southern climate. I'd grown up with Macy's, however, in Connecticut. So I was very familiar with the store. It was a downtown destination. And I'd grown up visiting their flagship store in NYC -- to see their Christmas displays and to have photos taken on Santa's lap. And later on as a grownup, I used to visit Macy's each time I traveled on business to NYC -- if only to introduce their old wooden escalators to a newbie. Anyhow, I had a Macy's credit card for ages so I'd shop here for myself and for gifts. I always could get my Clinique makeup promotions, new shoes, shape wear, and a new bathing suit here without fail. I still come here for their swimwear sales each year. This time, I came looking for a flannel nightgown! There'd been a cold spell for a few days and when I pulled out my old standby -- it definitely needed replacing. It's not something I buy often, but I figured I'd better look now while they still had winter stuff. They didn't have what I want this time, but I was able to browse their "last act" markdowns. Retail has taken a hit this past year. This Macy's had a lot of inventory at very good prices, but not a lot of shoppers. I hope this changes for them (and the mall) as things progress in the new year. I know I'll be back for certain items. They send me discount coupons often, and they re too good not to use! read more

The Macy's here at the Galleria mall is probably one of my favorite in the area. The biggest pet peeve I have is that escalator getting up to it from the parking lot. Being so tall I'm afraid I'm going to hit my head on the ceiling, literally! A pro though is there is a Starbucks inside! What I love about this location is their clearance area! They always have great finds in their clearance. I spend most of my time there rummaging through everything. I think also because this mall isn't so popular anymore they tend to have a lot of product in general so things that run out in other stores don't in this location. I never have an issue getting waited on or help when I need it. I love this Macy's and my wallet does too! read more

This review is for the new Macy's Backstage in Galleria. My daughter's friend from NYC was ranting about this new outlet store. We went to check it out and it was just like their ads describe it: "a store-within-a-store." Macy's Backstage features many top-quality brands that we all love and can all afford! If you are a bargain hunter, you're going to love it!! But don't think this is Macy's clearance section. Macy's coupons are not accepted, although you can use your Macy's card to earn points! Located in the "back" of the top floor of those locations that have them, which in this store it's the fourth floor, Backstage has its own buyers--the merchandise does not come from other departments or areas in the store. They don't keep things in a room, but everything is set out as soon as the truck unloads. I found it refreshing to shop the super savings, which can be compared to TJ Maxx or HomeGoods. Even the way Checkout is set up. Since there weren't many customers, we were able to move in and through the small aisles quickly to seek what we were ecstatic to find. The associate who took care of us said there were only a couple of Macy's Backstage in Broward, and their Grand Opening with spin-the-wheel prizes and other fun stuff is next weekend (Sept. 19). I look forward to visiting either the Westfield Broward Backstage or this one again! read more

If I could live here I would! Not only is Macy's a great department store, the Galleria location has a covered garage parking where you can take the parking garage elevator right up into the sales floor of the store. One level up from the ground floor there is also a Starbucks, so that you can energize up with a yummy snack or some caffeine before embarking on your shopping adventure! Macy's always has great sales and if you have a Macy's credit card there are always additional offers provided to you. I love that there are also "price checking" machines all around the store, so you can find out the exact price of an item without having to find a salesperson or bother trying it on if it's more than you want to pay. They have a huge inventory with many, many brands available from their own brands like "Style & Co," "INC," and "Alfani," to designer brands like Coach & Michael Kors. There is also a department called "Last Act" that is like a final clearance department with a huge selection but limited sizes available. There are 2 full floors of merchandise, in addition to the Starbucks on level 2, and they have beautiful glass elevators where you can get an aerial view of the store layout while you travel from floor to floor. The Galleria store also doesn't get as crowded as some of the more western locations; so if you have shopping to do; this is the place to do it! read more

Macys at the Galleria is looking real sharp these days. They changed up the displays and really focus on presentation of the clothes and everything is in such order, perfectly folded and tidy. The staff is really friendly and helpfu. I love Macys they have high quality items priced right and when stuff goes on sale there is so much Value. I also like the parking garage which shelters your car from the hot sun so itake comfortable to sit in after a day shopping. keep up the great work! read more

Everyone had always been helpful to both me and my husband on our visits whether we were buying his suits, finding me clothes for random outings or events, getting cologne or makeup, or home items. Whatever it has been, the staff has been great. There is also a Starbuck's located within the store. I have had both good and bad experiences there. I'm not sure how one can screw up a recipe for coffee, but it has happened. When they are made right, it is a great way to start off on your venture! read more

I went to Macy's at Galeria Mall in order to buy just a pair of linen pants for the upcoming season. As I am not a frequent buyer of clothes for myself I asked a young man for assistance. He led me to the place where these goods were and helped me to find the right size and he suggested me the colors. He not only explained the outstanding quality of the fabric but also offered me a huge discount if I open a Macy's credit card. I hadn't idea they have credit cards, so I accepted and he made the process in a few minutes. Therefore, I bought not only a pair of pants but three of them, each one of a different color, and three linen shirts in matching colors. I am so happy with these pants and shirts that next week I will go to Macy's to buy the same clothes for my son. I will look for the same person who helped me so much. I visited Macy's Aventura this week and was satisfied with my experience. A nice lady welcomed me and gave me directions as I was looking for men's Suits. There were colleagues to assist me and make recommendations. The only thing I would suggest to improve is the checkout rapidity, sometimes there is no one at the register to assist you and you may stay there for a while, waiting. read more

The Galleria Mall used to be great however, they are lacking quality!! They ruined the food court - Unappealing and bad selections. Then Neiman Marcus left - that was a positive draw - Macys is OK - HOWEVER, their departments are lacking in staff and especially the Estee Lauder dept. The last 3 times I have been there, they do not have the items I need - when I try to choose an alternative - they are out of that too!!! Do you want to sell? Bad dept management - and when I do find something to purchase in Macys I have to hunt down a salesperson to ring me up!!! Only saving grace is the Starbucks!!! Management - of the Galleria & Macys - need to step up your game - customers can - and do - go elsewhere read more

My wife is a big fan of Macy's. When she was living in New York, she shops there all the time. After she moves down here in South Florida, we still go to Macy's from time to time where she gets most of her cosmetics there. Like most guys, when and if I need to get something from the department stores, I'd just get in, pay and get out. So I don't really pay too much attention in places like this. But I have to say, compare this store to the other store in Galleria, this place still have some work to do. First of all, they need to find out what's causing that mildew or mold smelling odor. You can almost smell it immediately as soon as you walked through the front door. Second, I am not really sure about if the store layout makes sense. It seems like the men's department are scattered all over the places and makes a guy like me who has little patience not willing to spend time to find what we are looking for. But with that said, the store staff were friendly and helpful when we shop there. And with my wife's Macy's card she constantly get good discounts on her purchase. We'll still be shopping at Macy's but this will probably not be our go-to store. read more

The Macy's of The Galleria in Ft. Lauderdale is a multi story location and has a really nice setup. They previously had a lot of premium brands a few years ago but now the brands have seemed to dry up. I previously compared this location to a Bloomingdales with their brand variety. Now, they have a similar variety with the Macy's of Aventura. Now, they have a majority of their items in their men's department with Calvin Klein and the INC brand, and deals are ok, I just don't like the clothing. The location is clean and associates are available for any questions, but I have to leave the location 3 stars for their product selection. Parking is readily available in the garage and outside, and have never had a problem locating parking for the number of years we've been going there. I would say walk around the Macy's there and the Galleria in general, it's fun to look around, but to not really expect much. read more

Great experience at the MAC counter at this location. I was helped by a lovely woman by the name of Ivette, she was super knowledgeable about the products and very helpful, not pushy at all. She's a wonderful asset to MAC and Macy's. I was also helped by a lovey young women at the Clarins counter where I purchased dermablend products. She was super knowledgeable too. It's a Macy's and as a part of the Macy's chain of stores, pretty much the same as all of the rest. Everything nicely displayed, all the clerks polite, well trained and knowledgeable about the line they are retailing. This particular Macy's is of course the anchor store of the Galleria Mall, and as such somewhat better than most with a more fashionable up to date décor and look about it. Though I'm not really that much of a Macy's fan but because it is one of the better ones, that is in comparison to the rest of them locally, on that basis alone I can go Four Star even though I do consider them to be Three Star shopping. read more

I went to Macy's earlier today to buy a gift for someone and I was so happy that I ran in to Esther and the Lancôme department. This is my second time running into her and she is always welcoming and willing to help! Esther exemplifies superior customer service. She listens to your requests and will help you find the best product based off that. And not to mention she is not pushy In an attempt to generate a sale. Last time I was here I purchased everything I needed and not just what I wanted because she heard my concerns and helped me find the best products to tackle my concerns. Kudos to Esther it is due to her superb customer service that I shop for beauty items here as opposed to Sephora. Thank you Esther for being such a great sales person! read more

I went to the store yesterday to return a shirt that I'd sent north to my son last month. He came to Florida this week and asked me to return the shirt as it was too small. I searched the store first for another same shirt to replace the too small shirt, but couldn't find one - so went to the customer service desk to request a refund to my Macy's account. I was told of a 30 day policy and I couldn't return or replace the shirt as it was purchased approximately 40 days ago. Question: If I buy a Christmas present on November 20th, ship it to my daughter in California for Christmas- and she wants to return it or find another same/similar item to replace it - I'm out of luck? Two customer service personnel told me that this policy is written on the back of the receipt. Anyone else find this 30 day - no return/refund policy not so friendly? read more

Ok you asked for a review so here goes, but I'm going to keep this short. I have always loved Macys but they are not all created equal. Some store are better than the other and the one at the Galleria is not one I am fond of. You might as well be invisible because there is NEVER anyone around to help you. I've been in there several times because it is the closest to where I live. I truly believe that this Macys has a hard time to find good help because when I walk up to the counter to purchase they look MISERABLE! The only one that I can say that is close to providing excellent customer service is Jeffery in the bedding department. That's it. I am not a fan of the Galleria mall to begin with. Back home in CA, Macy's has become 1 of my go-to's for scoring last minute costume pieces to fit Yelp event themes. This Macy's in Ft. Lauderdale carried that same torch forward & also came through in the clutch. The very 1st day of Yelp Spring Break 2015 had a pink-themed event, pink attire highly encouraged. I don't usually do pink. I don't own anything pink to wear. I showed up at this Macy's the day of the event hoping to fix that. No problemo. They had exactly what I was looking for & it was pretty low $. Staff was a mixed bag. 1 person was very helpful in finding & pointing out pink shirts. The person at the register, though, was exceptionally apathetic while ringing up my purchase. All in all, it was all good. I was in & out, right away, with the perfect pink shirt, without spending a lot of $. I was all set for the pink event. & now, for better or worse, I own an article of pink clothing. Macy's has long been our go to department store. I love the fact they have a covered parking garage to keep you out of the elements. If you enter from the west end parking garage, you'll find a Starbucks as you make your way up the escalator. Directly across is a great luggage boutique that always has some great pieces and using your Macy's coupons you'll find some great deals. The main level you'll find woman's shoes, perfume, jewelry, menswear and woman's wear. On the top floor is housewares and more woman's clothing. The selections and styles are always fresh and plentiful. Great selection of sizes too. Theres always plenty of friendly staff to help you find sizes or direct you to a fitting room. Checkout is always easy and the staff are always helpful w ensuring you get the best price and take advantage of all sales. Macy's also has a furniture gallery off site that we enjoy shopping at. read more

I came here last Saturday morning right around store opening to buy some shoes. I came with a definite purpose to buy brown oxfords. It seems that they were trying to test my patience to see how badly I wanted them. Their sales people seemed to be busy helping one person at a time, while several people waited. They'd go back and forth to the storage room to get different shoes for one person without acknowledging the people waiting. I was in a bit of a time crunch and did not appreciate being ignored. I even stood there with the shoes I wanted to buy in my hand and waited for about 20 minutes before I could wrestle an associate into getting my size. I was about 2 minutes away from walking down to Aldo to take my business elsewhere when they finally got my shoes. I had to wait in line at the register while the man at the register had the associate go into the back to get a pair of shoes in his size. I was kind of mad that the associate just abandoned ship like that, but I can't blame the customer for demanding service. It's difficult enough for me to shop at a store that's not an outlet with a huge outlet mall as close to me as the one in Sunrise. I understand that this isn't an outlet but even when I find an item on sale here, it's still more expensive than regular price at that other mall. I'm just going to stick to outlet malls from now on. At least you can find your shoe size yourself and don't have to wait for half an hour to buy shoes in a nearly empty store. read more

This is by far the greatest retail store in Ft. Lauderdale! The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We had a small problem with the reward points system and Corey helped us get it sorted out at 5 min to closing. When was the last time at closing time anyone is willing to help, maybe to the door to help you get out so they could go. Amazing service! read more

OMG!!! This "mall" was right around the corner basically from the Westin. I went here three times in 4 days. I couldn't stop shopping!! Macy's had terrific deals and I got 2 pair of capri pants, 3 pair of shorts, and a top for less than $100! The woman who waited on me in the Ralph Lauren shop was soooo nice. Very helpful and held my purchases while I continued to look around. The store was clean, well set-up, and had a Starbucks right inside in case you were hungry/thirsty. Bathrooms were also in a good spot so you could do your duty (or doody) and get right back to shopping! Small kitchen area so if I lived close-by, I'd want that expanded but I don't so this fit the bill. Terrific job by everyone I came in contact with! I'll be back!!!! read more
