I'm a proud Macy's card holder and it is the only department store credit card that I have. I wanted to do my review for Jackie in the make up department. I have bad eczema and I cannot wear most makeup because it causes irritation. I decided I wanted to try Clinique since it is hypoallergenic and dermatologist recommended. I booked a make up consultation over the phone and I was so happy with the result! Jackie was so nice and knowledgeable about the Clinique products. I ended up splurging and buying all the make up she used and the brushes and charging a lot on my Macy's card but given how much I've used the make up and brushes from that moment on and how good it looks and how confident it makes me feel I'm thankful I did it. I got lots of free gifts and I got Star Money since I spent a lot. Of course, I don't recommend going broke on make up but if you want a new routine like me and want to do a complete haul Macys make up consults is the way to go. I never felt like Jackie was forcing any products on me too. I'll definitely be booking her again for my next special occasion! Also side note I don't know why this Macys has so many bad reviews I love it here and feel the quality of the merchandise is good. Again I'm proud to have a Macys credit card and I shop here a lot. Backstage has the best deals and is as cheap as a Marshall's or Ross but better quality and less chaotic to go through. Nothing enhances the experience more than being surveilled by faux shoppers making sure you don't steal stuff everywhere in the store. That, coupled with the lack of selection means I'll be shopping elsewhere. At this point Target and Walmart have better selection. Sure, Macy's in Escondido has been on the decline for some time now. Unorganized, sort of beat up and dirty, which ok, does not warrant a single star. My single star is for their customer service. As of late there is not employees asking if you need assistance, but more sort of going out of the way not to help. I would ignore these things, however experiencing customer service for a return was terrible. We had ordered some luggage online during the Macy's luggage sale, we also had an additional 25% off discount. These items did not work for us; we only unboxed one to look at it. In the store they did have a lower end model, which seemed like it would work much better, even though it was substantially cheaper. I waited in line for about 20 minutes (it was only myself in line and the person being helped at the time). I asked if they could still apply my additional 25% off if I purchased the two lower tier bags (same brand), and was told that there was a VIP sale, which was 30% off and that it was better. I attempted to explain that I had the 30% PLUS the 25% off and that it showed on my receipt like that. I was told that no, only the 30%, which would be a much better deal than I paid. In ringing up the 2 pieces of luggage. I paid through Macy's online $630 for the two items I was returning, the items I was attempting to purchase came out to $980, after the 30% off. This luggage was selling for $237 directly from the manufacturer and was marked $400ish on the shelf. I asked if they could match the manufacturer price, as I did not feel that I should have to pay 300 more for two bags, when the ones which I was returning were $150 more (each!). She stated they don't price match, I asked if she could apply the 25% she said no. I said they are cheaper on Macys.com, but she again said they do not price match! I returned the item, and then once more said, I can't believe you cannot price match your own website, she said oh yeah we can do that, but you didn't show me the price on the site...... WHY WOULD I!!! you said you could not match the price! Now, yes, this really frustrated me, yes, I did order it from the manufacturer on the way to my car, the part that really frustrated me was just the attitude, lack of any sort of empathy, not a "sorry it's just not something we can do" refusing to look at me and the heavy sighing that really just irked me. Placed an order on 12/25/25 and only received part of the order. I called and was told they are reshipping the order. I've waited another week only to be told now that they are reviewing my claim. Either ship the items I've paid for or credit my account back. I'll be calling my credit card company to report this. read more

I was gifted a Macy's gift card that was bought from the store. When I went to use it, I was told that the card may have been fraudulent as there was no CID number and the funds were drained. When I called to report it damaged, customer service was awful. The person helping me was talking to someone else while on the phone with me. When I called about 2 weeks later inquiring about the claim since I didn't get an e-mail I was told that I had to wait a month. Almost two months later I called again since I received no form of notification that my claim was submitted, accepted, or denied. Now, I was told that my claim was never submitted by the last agent... Although this representative was very kind and seemed to know what she was doing. I am now being told that I should receive something in about a week. At this point, I don't believe much... What a terrible experience! read more

Macy's has given up on this store. Went there recently, and there is very little selection in the Men's department. I was looking to use my Macy's star rewards. I found no belts section completely disorganized with very little selection. Next I thought about purchasing some mens underwear and the shelves were empty. No selection also. All the brands had nothing but small and medium! No large and no extra large. There is no pride left in this store. I think this location is on the short list of closing. Not staffed very well. Only "bargain" selections of brands. Not stocked very well in more premium brands like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Bahama. I keep hearing news about Macy's struggling to attract buyers. Well, first off they need to invest in there stores instead of complaining that shoppers just are not coming. Shoppers are not coming because of the POOR EXPERIENCE. I dont want to see belts totally disorganized and I have to sort through them. I dont want to see empty shelves of basics like underwear. I ended up buying a belt on their website. That was a terrible also. They send you an email that is shipped on Sunday. You watch the tracking number and it doesnt actually ship until Wednesday! Dont tell me it shipped but all you did was generate a tracking number! I think Macy's provides a great middle class shopping outlet but it hard to support them when you visit stores like Macy's Escondido and then their online experience is poor also. read more

My dad bought a $100 gift card to give to me on Christmas his purchase was Dec. 22 when I tried to use it the funds had been used already, I went into the store & the employee could not do anything about it other than check the balance. I called the number behind the card it's been 2 months since my claim & apparently this still haven't resolved anything they said it would take 30 days & here I am having to call & they have no solution yet. I had a great experience in Men's Clothing yesterday. The salesperson was very helpful and knowledgeable. I found a shirt I wanted but they did not have my size. She quickly found one my size at another store and had it shipped to my home. Very easy process for me. I really enjoy coming to this store. Selection was decent, has a lot of good beauty brands to look at. Went into the men's section looking for something for my father, staff was really nice until I had to check out. Marc or Mark however way you spell it was very plainly racist, Anyone around could notice how differently his tone was with white people versus darker skinned people.I Had also overheard him mocking other customers to other associates after hearing someone speak in spanish and making fun of another mexican customer. I had also seen him steal customers from other cashiers. I remember other nice cashiers like Natasha and or Mehran (hope I spelled her name correctly) making the environment of the store feel better less unfortunate and very much less racist. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I want to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the customer service I received at the Macys store, Escondido location. I purchased a pair of sunglasses for my husband, which he did not like. I attempted to return them TWO DAYS later, only to be met with unreasonable resistance from both the store associates and the manager, Megan. Despite returning the sunglasses in exactly the SAME CONDITION as when I purchased them, I was accused by Megan of scratching the lenses and was told, "I don't know what you did in the two days." This accusation was not only false but also deeply offensive. It felt that Megan was racially profiling me. She persisted in saying "I don't know what you did with the glasses" and was assuming I had damaged the product, which is simply NOT TRUE. Despite my repeated assurances that the sunglasses were in their original condition, The manager refused to accept my return. Which was both frustrating and unjust. Her behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. I decided to visit a different store. And guess what!? They were great. The associates at the Macy's La Jolla store, were helpful and professional, and I had no problems returning the sunglasses. This experience only highlighted the poor service and unfair treatment I received at the Escondido store. This situation was frustrating and I'm really disgusted by the treatment I received it. This Macy's located in the Westfield Shopping Center in Escondido, California, must be fairly old as it clearly shows its age. Floors are cracked and discolored, counters and displays are very aged-looking and not conducive to highlighting the merchandise. The lighting is dull and dim and somewhat depressing, and the overall appearance is not up to the usual Macy's standards. There appears to be a shortage of staff in this store as we were forever looking for help and couldn't find any employees. Worst of all, the merchandise was extraordinarily sparse, and when we did find something we liked, there wasn't the correct size or any staff to help us find what we wanted to purchase. I'll assume the pandemic has gotten the better of this particular Macy's store and forgive some of its shortcomings. When we return to San Diego in another month or two, we'll give this store another look-see to find out if they've gotten their act together. I went to the Macy's in oceanside and found twice as much inventory and cashiers were very helpful and nice there. I have also traveled to Temecula and that store is very good as well. I still like the in-store experience even though I do buy things online this is the 3rd time I've come here to buy something and sadly I had to leave because of lack of customer service. The first time I waited 20 minutes for one clerk to finish with one customer. This time there was one tired looking clerk that told me she didn't have time to help me because there were more customers to help. huh? I love this Macy's. It's a bit smaller than most locations, but has all the stuff you'd want in a Macy's. From handbags to fine jewelry, I always find something I like. The staff members in the ladies clothes department are especially helpful. Sophia is my favorite sales associate, but all the sales people are lovely. The best way to shop here (or any Macy's) is to get their store credit card. There are some amazing sales only open to card members and that alone makes having the card worth it. I went to Macy's to shop in the women's department for myself, and the department was a mess! Clothes on the floor and clothes jammed on the racks so tight that you can't browse through them. It was hard to locate the regular size section from the petite section. The employees working are overwhelmed. I encountered one woman working near the dressing room and she insisted only 6 items at a time, which is no problem. However upon entering the dressing room, I discovered piles of clothes left there! After I came out she disappeared and no one was watching the dressing room. It's just so sad the store looks so bad, merchandise is disorganized, the brands are mixed up with other brands. It feels like shopping at second hand store. What happened to the days Macy's was a beautiful store and you wanted to go there? Not any more. Will they be closing the chain soon? On my recent trip here yesterday afternoon to the shoe department, *Natasha* and her other coworker were very helpful when I was seeking to return a pair of heels I had bought a long time ago and never wore. Easy and no hassle there! Earlier that morning I also was confused in the Men's Levi Jeans section because there are so many, and I forgot which three digit # I had purchased last year. Zero star!I ordered online for Chanel perfume for pickup together with Levi's jeans on April 29, 2024. I went to the store, picked up items that were already in the shopping bag, I know everything is there. I TRUSTED YOU! When I got home, the perfume has no plastic seal! Who knows it it was used, and old stock? called customer service right away, said my complain. I was told to return. dropped off the perfume at a UPS location, MACYS received my return on May 2nd. I called on the 15th to follow-up., rep stated they will send me a confirmation email of my refund, not right away, but wait for 24 hrs???? I never knew email takes that long? What can I do? Then the following Monday I called again, rep said, it was a gift car, I never received an email, and now my refund is a gift card? A gift card that was never sent to me! Anyway , rep said she will transfer my refund to my card. she took my card number, and again email confirmation of my refund will take 24 hrs! Macy's was my go to store for over 40 years but in recent years their online order department and fulfillment departments have screwed up countless orders to include charging me for product I did not receive, sending me the wrong items, mailing to the wrong address and billing me for product they did not have in stock. I love Macy's, I buy most of my clothes here. Today, I had an unpleasant incident. There was long line for return and the customers were told we could do a return at any register. I walked over to the perfume section. A super petite lady with dark hair & a pony tail was very brusque & refused a full refund on my card. I picked up the clothing 2 days back only , I had ordered it online. The size did not fit. I hardly had it on for 5 mins. The tag was there, the packaging was intact & in spite of this she only partly refunded on my card and the remaining she gave a Macy's card. To be rude to customers, is not a good move for the employees working here. Her manager needs to take action. read more

This Macy's is a little disappointing because the prices are a little higher than the other Macys. I can only speak on the men's department and it is a nice size, it's probably not in the best condition but it's good enough. It seems like there aren't that many employees around to help you. I'm just glad they have those price scanners so that way I don't need the employees except to check out. Like all Macy's there is always sales here which is a plus but like I said earlier the prices should be a little lower. You can find some great deals on some great brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy, Sean John and Ralph. There is a small cologne section that also sells Jack Black, Lab and The Art of Shaving for a decent price. I probably won't shop here a lot just because of the higher prices and that's the only reason. I don't understand this strategy but I could see if this was Del Mar or Carlsbad. Horrible customer service. A bunch of employees were gathered together socializing and ignoring customers. I needed assistance in the cosmetics department so I went up to them and they ignored me and made me wait while they finished their conversation. The older caucasian blonde woman was rude and just trying to make me go away so they can go back to socializing. Was in the woman's petite section looking for a blazer that I had seen on line approx. 2 hours before I arrived at the store. The good part of going to that store was the parking lot was almost empty. The escalator to go up was out of service, I have a mobility problem, and my husband tried to find the elevator, we didn't see any sales persons. Found the elevator after about 20 minutes, went to the petite section, and the store was a mess! I didn't find the blazer , and couldn't fine any employees to ask where they were, or if they had any! My husband did find a cellphone on top of some clothes, and a customer that was there said she had seen another women just a few minutes before, so we gave her the phone to give to the customer, and since it was only 3 of us there. While my husband was trying to find a store representative, the other woman was running around tried to find the owner. We finally gave up and told the person to find on where to turn in the phone , and we had to leave because by that time,I had a lot of back pain! We didn't see any personnel on the way out of the store either!! Don't bother with this store, it should be closed down!!! read more

I came in to get my face wash from Clinique. The girl that helped me was super nice and helpful. Then I noticed that the jewelry department was having a HUGE clearance in the jewelry department across from Clinique. I walked over to look around. Serena was the loveliest sales person. She was very attentive and patient with me. I purchased couple of items and she took care of the paperwork. As far as the sales staff, they are very good. The store was about to close and they shut the door I came through. I had to exit from another side of the building and walk to the other side of the garage. There was no security guard to keep an eye out. Parking lot was dark and incredibly dirty. Literally trash everywhere. If you shop here at night, it's a good idea to come with a mate. It doesn't seem very safe in the garage area. The store doesn't seem to care about you once you step out the door. As much as I liked the sales staff, security not being present when they were closing the store with only one door open didn't feel safe. Not sure if I'll be back. This is one of the reasons so many Macy's stores are closing. I'd rather order online. read more

Dropped by here today to update Mr. W's wardrobe. Needless to say I had zero clue about ANYTHING for guys dress shirts. Donna saved us in the men's section by taking out her trusty measuring tape and figured out my bfs size for neck and that his dress shirts should be 33/34 long. She was super helpful in showing us the options of what we could do for a wedding we were going to attend and I had convinced him to go shopping with me so we could match with my purple dress. We settled for a light purple Alfani and 2-3 pairs of the Dockers pants. Thankfully Dockers came out with the Athletic fit which worked out perfectly for Mr. W, so our problems got solved for some good business casual dress pants if we were to go to dinner with anyone now We haven't checked out how the pair we got will work with my dress but we should soon! I just had to write something about Donna as she was so helpful and then she ended up manning the shoe section for men as well as the menswear too. She was very accommodating in helping us look for sizes and options as well as being patient with us, the slightly indecisive clueless couple. Thank you for the wonderful customer service! read more

The 3 rd floor has been changed up a bit and it looks nice. I wish they would put new flooring in and add more help and open all registers and dressing rooms during busy times. Prices are very reasonable and the new men's golf clothing section is getting better each time I enter on the lower level. Women's shoes are very easy to navigate as there all out and the boxes with sizes are easy to find. If they don't have your size just scan it with your Macy's app in store feature and they will ship it to your door. read more
