Many years ago I worked here and loved it! All of my favorite designers and fully stocked departments. I even furnished my first home using that employee discount. These days not many designers and very limited stock. That makes me sad. But I will never be one of those online shoppers for clothing. I need to see it, feel it, and try it on. I go to Macys when I'm looking for specific clothes. I can usually find what I'm looking for and they always have sales and coupons.

I had the most incredible experience at the Dayton Mall recently! Two days ago, I was on the hunt for the perfect outfit for my closing when I met the most amazing woman, Toya--one of the managers at Macy's in the Dayton Mall. I happened to walk up to her and two of her employees in the Men's department, and I was immediately struck by her energy. The way she interacted with her team was filled with positivity and encouragement. Just before heading downstairs, Toya said to her team, "Have a great day on purpose!" That simple phrase resonated with me so deeply that I just had to find her again to thank her. Not only was Toya incredibly sweet, but she was also a fantastic leader. I was so inspired that I asked for a photo to share with my followers. Toya was more than happy to oblige, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to highlight such an extraordinary person. Was followed around by a young man obviously looking for shoplifting. I normally respect that. But way beyond what it should be. Confronted him. Very self righteous. I asked a emplyee about him. Name of Williams. Just warning of all who shop there. Won't shop there again. read more

Still my favorite Macys between Dayton, Cincy, and northern KY. While I've noticed some of the others stores starting to sacrifice some quality, this location has not yet been effected. They have a nice selection of higher end brands such as The North face and Coach. The store is always clean and well organized. I never have trouble finding staff members here for checkout or return and they are always super nice and helpful. I have never had a price issue either. The store is quite large at 3 floors. Im very glad this is one of the remaining anchors at Dayton mall! read more

Love this Macy's! The "At your service" desk is always very helpful and quick. I had a couple returns today and in the midst of everything going on they were so helpful and cheerful keeping conversation going with guests. The wait was nothing like I thought it would be. I love the selection that Macy's offers that I don't have to go shopping all over town to fit my families needs. Now as for Backstage... I can't say enough good things about backstage. The prices are unbeatable and the things you can find are great. Now I do like the selection of the backstage at Tri-County more, but I still have not been able to leave once without buying something that catches my eye. If you have been to Macy's but not the backstage section they have opened up look it up and make sure to check it out when you go in. You will thank me later. read more

I like Macy's for the consistency it gives me across the country. No matter whether I first shopped at Rike's, Shillito's, Robinson-Mays, Bambergers, Burdines, Lazarus, etc. etc. etc. etc., Macy's is there with clothing and housewares I can trust. They seem to have changed their stores so they're not as crowded as they once were. I remember several stores where you practically had to stop breathing to get through the aisle, it was packed so tightly. As with most stores around Dayton, the staff seems friendly and they always seem to find a moment to let you know that they're there. The woman at the sunglasses hut literally has the worst attitude I've ever experienced in life. Also the area was dirty and the store had a stench in it. Stopped in while visiting town to get a shirt, but wouldn't recommend this location for anything. read more

My review is on the Home Department at Macy's. My husband & I went here to try out the Purple mattress because Macy's is one of the only places around that has one in stores to try out. They have 4 different ones. I was very impressed with our sales associate, James. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful & not a pushy salesman at all. They offer a 120 day trial period on their mattresses, so if you buy one & realize it's too firm/soft, they come & pick it up & give you a refund. They also do price matches. Our mattress is due to be delivered next week. Can't wait! read more

Pick up ordering was great! This was my first time and I would do again during this pandemic and Christmas shopping. I checked in on the app saying I had arrived and what parking spot I was parked in. The employee brought out my item after a couple minute wait and placed it in my trunk as the directions on the email said. The employee was very friendly and was wearing a mask. It's a decent place for deals on purses and Shoes sometimes. I did happen to get 2 pairs of Keds when it was a buy 1 get 1 free on sale shoes a year ago.They had Nine West handbags on sale when I went there recently but it was still close to $50 on sale. I did go to some makeup counters to try on some makeup and really liked the employee at the Lancôme counter. The new eyeshadow is nice but the price is expensive but it would have to be for the quality. I tried on the color rosy flush that comes with pink, purple, gold and a brown eyeliner/ eyeshadow. read more

Every time I've ever been to this Macy's I have to spend several minutes tracking down an employee for assistance since very few people seem to work here. I usually end up purchasing my items in a different part of the store because I'm unable to find an employee. I also tend to find that the store has a disheveled appearance, which can make it very difficult to find specific items. We registered with Macy's for our wedding and returned several items to this location. I brought back a picture frame due to it being scratched and I was immediately told by a clerk, who was training someone I might add, that they didn't have any others in stock to exchange it with and she didn't even offer to check the inventory system. The clerk in training did the return and actually checked the computer and found they had several of the same frame in stock so I was able to exchange the item like I wanted. On a different occasion we received a suitcase in both the wrong size and color from Macy's (warehouse shipping error) and when we went to exchange it for the correct item the clerks had no idea what to do. They asked if we wanted them to take back the suitcase and the purchaser would be refunded so they would somehow figure out something went wrong and have to deal with it. I'm shocked they even suggest that as a possible solution. All I wanted was the correct item we were supposed to receive and eventually the manager on duty was able to find a way to make it work in the system. Overall, I am not impressed with this location and I have come to dread the experience if I actually need to come here. read more

i bought a king size electric blanket and this is the 2nd year and it doesn't even turn oln. its a beddingform blanket with a warrenty.

Horrible experience, knew what I wanted, pair of black boots but when I got to shoe dept. there were at least 15 other customers milling about. Surveyed this disaster and was able to locate only 2 clerks, both busy of course. Managed to snag one who took my request and able to quickly pull out 2 pairs for trying on, when tried to get back to the clerk for different sizing, he was walking out coat in hand, had to take his lunch break. I don't blame the clerk, he was doing the best he could, but there should have been more employees on the floor. This is not a do it yourself shoe department, it is service oriented and I can't help but think of the money Macy's lost yesterday because they could not serve the customers. I of course, walked out at that point, not worth the effort. The only reason there are two stars is because in another department found the sweater I had been looking for, sales clerk had to pull it off display model for the correct size, no problem finding a clerk for help or service and with a smile to boot. read more

I was in a last minute shopping hour on a Friday night for a very special event. The lady in the fine jewelry section is not helpful at all. I came for the Swarovski section but Macy's really had very few selections. So I moved on to the other fine jewelry, she keeps insisting if I want to look at fashion jewelry too. Unbelievable. She just hovers, does not leave me alone and wanted me to hurry. Maybe because it was 940pm on a Friday night and she was in a hurry to close or something else. I wanted to get something very nice to go with a gold dress I'm going to a milestone wedding anniversary to. She was practically shooing me away, making me hurry with what I want. I was looking at my phone to look at my dress to see if the jewelry matches. And she goes, "So what is it? What do you want?" I said, "I'm still looking." I was very nice in my response though I'm getting her negative vibe. I think she is "uninitiated" or maybe I don't look the part in her small world. Then she hovers some more and asked, "What's your price range?" I said, "Not more than 200." And she went, "I'm trying to be helpful here but you won't find anything on this side." I said, "Ok." But she was the one who pointed me out to that side because she was already shooing me away from the pieces that I was trying on on the other side that was next to the Swarovski section. I'm thinking if she would just leave me alone so I could browse and decide for myself, I would have been done during those wasted 10 minutes that I was there. So I got exasperated and hopped to the fashion jewelry section with the Michael Kors items. She shouts and calls her associate from across and say out loud, "This lady here wants to look at jewelry in the Michael Kors section!" So the other lady comes, a nicer one, and asked me which one did I need to try on. I said I'm still browsing and so she says she thought the other lady told her that I wanted to try something on, she shook her head, and she left me alone. The fine jewelry lady was really so annoying. First, she does not leave me alone, then she hurries me and shoos me away to fashion jewelry. You'd think they would want the business since Macy's seems to be deteriorating around this area (they recently shrunk the Fairfield branch) but they hire this tired lady who is just there to watch clock and get a paycheck. The fine jewelry section gets 0 star for customer service. I'm not buying in this section again. Macy's in Dayton Mall, if you rot, it's also because you have employees like this--some tired old lady who has bad attitude towards customers. I went to Von Maur before this and the associate there was so much nicer and helpful. And I was there 10 min before they closed. Such difference in customer service! I'd stick to better places to shop, especially in this town. I thought this was a nice place to shop in general but the lady in there was not really nice. read more

This company is greedy. Terrible customer service. Also, a little over a year ago, I was shopping with a friend and she had a purse that was a little bigger than average, and when we walked out of the store, we were stopped by their ignorant loss prevention worker and accused her of stealing. They searched her bag AND MINE. Not too mention we were patted down ( as if we stuffed something in our skinny jeans!) Obviously didn't find anything stolen. It was just flat out embarrassing. Haven't been back since then, and never will go back. Word of advice, If you for some reason decide to go into this crappy store, don't bring in a purse or else you're seen as criminal who is trying to steal merchandise and may be stopped by loss prevention. read more

There are never enough sales clerk available. There is usually one that has a line and the person at the front is returning something she bought 10 years ago and doesn't have a receipt. The jewelry department has one clerk in fine jewelry who is not allowed to ring up anything else. Frustation every time I try to buy something there. Would like just once to see the place staffed correctly.Macy's is great about coupons, and I love their merchandise, I just don't have hours to stand in line and I usually end up leaving without buying anything. read more

Clerks were disrespectful and rude. Went to the Dayton Mall Clinique counter to stock up on the products I use. There were 3 women working the counter - 1 that was with a customer, but the other 2 were just gabbing with each other. They both looked at me, and finally one of them said she would be with me in a moment. She continued to talk with the other clerk, and then a few moments later the other clerk also said to me that she would be with me in a moment. They continued to talk - and then a friend of theirs stopped by the counter, so the 2 clerks started a conversation with their friend! The clerk who was with a customer looked at the other 2 clerks and then at me and mouthed "I'm sorry." After waiting for about 10 minutes, I left and went down to the other end of the mall to Elder-Beerman, and even though the clerks there were busy, I was greeted with a smile and waited on within a few minutes.
