Toya & I
John C.

I had the most incredible experience at the Dayton Mall recently! Two days ago, I was on the hunt for the perfect outfit for my closing when I met the most amazing woman, Toya--one of the managers at Macy's in the Dayton Mall. I happened to walk up to her and two of her employees in the Men's department, and I was immediately struck by her energy. The way she interacted with her team was filled with positivity and encouragement. Just before heading downstairs, Toya said to her team, "Have a great day on purpose!" That simple phrase resonated with me so deeply that I just had to find her again to thank her. Not only was Toya incredibly sweet, but she was also a fantastic leader. I was so inspired that I asked for a photo to share with my followers. Toya was more than happy to oblige, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to highlight such an extraordinary person. Good leaders are hard to find, but Macy's in Dayton just happens to have one of the best! #Leadership #Positivity #Inspiration #PeopleFirst #DaytonMall #Macys #Grateful #GoodVibesOnly

This is not just a Macys, it's a great Macys. I came in looking for a long sleeve lighter colored shirt and ended up buying 3 because the price was so good. Great prices, great selection, fast & friendly service! What's not to like?

I like Macy's for the consistency it gives me across the country. No matter whether I first shopped at Rike's, Shillito's, Robinson-Mays, Bambergers, Burdines, Lazarus, etc. etc. etc. etc., Macy's is there with clothing and housewares I can trust. They seem to have changed their stores so they're not as crowded as they once were. I remember several stores where you practically had to stop breathing to get through the aisle, it was packed so tightly. As with most stores around Dayton, the staff seems friendly and they always seem to find a moment to let you know that they're there. I only have one question: why is The Cellar on the third floor?

Nice friendly cashier although discounts are confusing. They also didn't have a good selection of boys clothing.

I go to Macys when I'm looking for specific clothes. I can usually find what I'm looking for and they always have sales and coupons.

I like the quality and variety of clothes they carry. Also, the Lancome and other cosmetics that offer a gift with purchase, are fantastic.

I just want to say that Emma in women's clothing is one of the nicest cashiers in the Dayton Mall store.

In the first room of the shop we were schooled on the sale items in the store. One of the ladies gave us a run down of "This section is 30% off, this section is 50%, etc." for at least five minutes before letting us roam the shop freely. We did check out the sale section but found mostly Christmas items and some strange purses. The first room features gifty items, cards, and soaps. The second room of the store features clothing, jewelry, and shoes. Most of the clothing was geared towards older woman but that didn't stop the sales lady from trying to sell me on a hideous sundress that came in one-size-fits-all and is constructed so that it can be easily cut to the perfect length, no hemming required. Um, no thanks. My mom, though, was pleased to see that they carry the Oprah featured "Not your Daughter's Jeans" denim. The jeans apparently are miracle workers and squeeze and lift to perfection. Unfortunately for my mom, Magnolia didn't carry the petite sized denim so she was unable to buy any. We got a little more than annoyed with the over eager sales ladies and actually had to fake a phone call to get out of the store without making any purchases. Yikes!

Called talk to a young girl was very sweet so they would call the owners and ask if there was anything they could do. They said there was nothing. I know with businesses there's always exceptions to be made. They could've offered a store credit or a restocking fee or something. But nothing. I would never order from this company again.

Cons: -Staff (Biggie) -Prices -Heavily damaged dresses -Changing rooms didn't have doors, just curtains that didn't really shut. -No mirrors in the changing rooms, you have to ask for one or use the one in the middle of the store. -Had a horrible sign asking people to not buy from "Chinese" websites because of Covid-19 (This has been proven to be untrue for MONTHS now) Positives: -They had a massive selection, even in larger sizes that usually only get a sad corner in most dress stores. -All of the larger sizes had modern styles, not just quincé dresses or stuff from the '90s. -The place was CLEAN, of course, there was some dust in the changing rooms but nothing terrible. -So many colours!!! The only ones I would say were missing were the more undesirable ones -They had all of the classic silhouettes -They did offer cheap dresses, not many though. I wouldn't say they were genuinely cheap, they were all VERY damaged, stuff that would be seen from afar. it would probably be a $150 tailor bill or a lot of time at the sewing machine. Including tailor costs, everything was $250 or higher. Long Version: My sister and I went in to find a formal dress, we had a budget I find reasonable, around $300, a little more would be fine. We started picking things out and had a good time. The shop attendants asked once in a while if we were doing okay and took our dresses to the fitting room. Then I saw a beautiful green green without a tag and asked for the price, the lady came back to me and told me it was $480, way off of my budget, and offered to take it to my fitting room. I smiled and said "Thank you, it's a bit pricy", after that moment the attendants became distant and cold, at the time there was only one other girl trying on dresses. Shortly after two high school girls came in, they were collecting $800-$1000 dollar dresses and were being catered to like queens, being offered dresses, suggestions, and compliments. What really sealed the deal for me was this beautiful pink floor-length gown. Around $350, absolutely beautiful. And Big. (For reference I'm about 5 foot 5 and 100 pounds, I know I'm skinny and I knew this was going to be a challenge.) So after I tried it on, I asked if they had another size even in a different colour or if they could order it. She said "I'm so sorry but they are all sold out". It had some wear and tear from other people trying it on, some seams were starting to get stretched out and a few of the closures were missing but all of that could be fixed at a tailors for about $100 Honestly, I was going to buy it right then, but I took a moment because they don't do returns, and it was in rough shape. (Most things were, I tried on 6-7 dresses and all of them had damage ranging from small stuff like the hooks were falling off, to big stuff like split seams, and large tears, beaded dresses were likely to be missing large portions of beading) I tried on a few others but they just didn't work, so I put the pink dress on once more. I felt gorgeous, I took it off and sat down with my sister, I looked at the tag and googled the designer because I wondered if they had anything from the brand in a smaller size at the store, and found my dress perfectly in stock from the designers' website for about $150. (Less than half of their price) Then my curiosity got the better of me I went on the Pure website and started to do a quick search, and they didn't even have the correct brand on the website, it wasn't an option at all. They were trying to pass it off as a much more prestigious brand when the sewn-on tags clearly said otherwise. I understand for a dress store that regularly sells dresses for $900 and up, my dress was small fries, but they just had to place an order, I would've been fine paying extra to expedite the shipping, they could've charged me $70 bucks and I would've gone for it. Instead I was lied to and probably would've spent another $100 on tailoring and fixing the damage. I left and ordered it through the designer when I got home. (For a whopping total of $156.72, compared to approx. $450 if I bought it in store, including tailoring) If you are not willing to spend over $500 there, you will be pushed aside very quickly. In my opinion, go there to try stuff on, but don't purchase anything, just find the designer and buy it online. It'll be much cheaper, and it will come brand new. This was in April of 2021, so I understand they need revenue but a sale is a sale and I wasn't trying to buy a $99 dress, $300 is a nice chunk of change. Ironically, both Highschool girls left empty-handed, while I was willing to dole out $500 if they had just placed the order online.

Shop small, shop local!…read more This local women's boutique has beautiful clothing for all sizes, as well as shoes, jewelry, candles and misc items. I'm not a tiny girl by any means but my best friend challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and try something stylish. I came in very intimidated and left very happy! The girl working the register was upbeat, friendly, and helped me pick out some things to try on. She even showed me their sale rack in the back. I felt embarrassed to ask her if something I tried on looked ok, but she assured me that was what she was there for and I wasn't bothering her a bit. I ended up with two new sweaters and she helped me pick which one to wear out if the store and helped me cut the tag off. My friends loved the outfit, but even better, when I got home my boyfriend said I looked "hot" and that the shirt I was wearing was the best he had ever seen me in ! I'm still soaring from that compliment They carry "Dayton O" shirts too and a portion of the proceeds get donated to help feed local families through a local church. You cannot lose here. I'm sorry I went there. Sorry that the owner wasn't able to make an exception. Sorry that I won't go back. It's a shame for a small business to lose out. Understand every store has return policies like that for a reason but I was told something totally different.
