I have had two very negative experiences with Macy's in the past few weeks. One was a gift I ordered and paid for, that was never delivered. Two months after It was supposed to have arrived, and I hadn't heard from the person I sent it to, I finally asked if she received it (cringing that she may have, just not sent thank you note). The gift was never received. I called Macy's. Oh yes, it didn't arrive and the baby clothes I purchased were not available now. The tracking info shows it shipped and was in transit and then it just stopped. No one from Macy's had contacted me or the receiver and I had not been given a refund. So, if I had never gotten the nerve up to ask my cousin if she received it and then contacted Macy's, not only would I never have known it didn't arrive, but they wouldn't have refunded my money!!!! They didn't refund the money until I called to say it never arrived. This was several months after I ordered and paid for the item. Macy's use to be a great store, but it's gone way down, especially their customer service.The second issue when I was trying to return a dress. I had the receipt ($134), tags on, perfect condition. But apparently they have changed their return policy and after 90 days, there is no refund or credit given. Nothing. Not a store credit (I assumed it would be store credit since I was returning so far from purchase), exchange, credit back to card. There is a reason it took so long for me to return, but no-one at Macys, cared to hear it, despite the fact that I have been an excellent customer for many years. I think the cashier was happy she didn't have to do anything. I explained the "mistake" that Macy's made with the baby present, but they didn't care. They make mistake, too bad (not even apology), I make mistake, too bad. So much for great customer care. I don't plan to spend another dime at Macy's read more

Super busy for a Saturday. Hands down the busiest store in the whole mall. Easy to shop. We visited the men's department (ties) and ladies shoes. My husband found a tie within 20 minutes and I had no luck with shoes. The checkout took us the longest. The men's checkout line was so long we waited until after checking out shoes. The ladies at the coach counter rang us but it took a long time for them to assist the two women ahead of us. Complicated return exchange situations. Not their fault I just wish there were either more registers OR easier POS processes to move the lines more quickly. read more

I got a necklace from Macy's the day after Black Friday and a manager, a skinny white man with white hair, sold it to me asking for my phone number and email. He told me "you don't need the receipt now because we have you in our system. So if you need to return it just come back here and give us your phone number and we can do the return." Two months later I came back to return it and was told by Mali "he doesn't work here anymore he has no idea what he was talking about. You need the receipt and tag I can't use your phone number or email." So when I told her I don't have the receipt because he never gave me one saying I don't need it, she said "sorry I can't help you then." Now I'm short $600 because they just fired the person who sold it to me and gave me misinformation. Absolutely horrible customer service, no responsibility for their own mistake, and she was rude about it too. Not to mention I had to wait for more than thirty minutes just to talk to someone working with the jewellery. read more

I'll start off by saying, generally I love Macy's. In store. Online. It has been great. Great selection. Friendly and helpful staff. Everybody from the Lancôme counter, Sunglass Hut, Coach have all been great. Right up until I try to get a link added to a watch I purchased for my wife. First off, Bulova isn't cheap. The fact that the watch doesn't come with extra links is shameful, but I'll save that for my Bulova review. I walked up to the watch counter. 2 girls standing there, and it took 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge I was there. When I finally got her attention, I asked about adding links to my watch and she huffed and said "We don't do that here. You'll have to go to the other counter" I'm not sure how you feel, but whenever I get 'huffed at' (especially as a customer in a retail space) it doesn't sit well with me. I walked to the other counter, where nobody was working. I walked back to the visibly annoyed woman and asked if she could contact someone for the other counter. Once again the response was less than courteous. As my blood reached a high boil, another woman came over to look at the watch (as the rude employee resumed her conversation with another co-worker). The entire ordeal took about 25 minutes. Only to find out that Bulova didn't include the pins needed to add the links. I also find it hard to believe that the pins are so special that Macy's didn't have a pin that was compatible. After 1/2 hour (for something that should have took minutes), I'm left with two things: frustration as the level of customer service at this particular Macy's location/counter. And my watch still doesn't fit properly. Shame upon both Macy's and Bulova. I expect better. read more

Pray God you purchase jewelry from Macy's and a gem falls from its setting. It will be money down the drain. I purchased a emerald ring with four small diamonds on each side. Within a month of purchase, one of the diamonds fell out of the two prong setting. I returned to the store and was told I had to purchase the repair contract for another $250 dollars to get it repaired. They wouldn't repair it for free even though it was only a month. About 6 weeks later, I had not received a single call. I stopped in and found it was fixed but nobody called. Within 9 months, the same diamond fell out again plus the one next to it. I returned to the store but was told they could not look up the previous repair and take the ring to submit again. I asked to talk to a manager bit none was on duty. The next time I returned the manager was too busy. Now 14 months after purchase I still can not get anyone to assist me. My beautiful ring is still missing the two diamonds (not so beautiful) This was not a wise choice. Go to a real jeweller that will stand behind the quality of the merchandise. I was here a few minutes ago and trying to exchange my Super Star Adidas at Finish Line. The lady is fussing at me and saying that she is counting money and she can not help me. She told me to come back tomorrow, but I live an hour away. At the end, she finally said that she can return and can not exchange since they don't have the size i want ( she did not even go check).But i was there yesterday and the guy said that there are a few in the back. I am really disappointed that Macy's hire someone like her. read more

Thieves! I placed a order online and they told me my card was declined, when I called my bank they said there was no delination of the charge and it came out of my account on my debit card. When I called Macy's back and was transferred to 7 representatives and was finally told that it would be 7-10 days before I would get my money back. When I would not accpet that they continued to hang up on me. read more

I generally like Macy's but there is something amiss with this location. There is a general lack of staff and the staff that they do have generally seem to be too overburdened to be helpful or friendly. read more

My primary reason for visiting Macy's is getting professional clothes for work. I have really enjoyed shopping there. The key reasons: 1. A great selection of clothes and brands 2. Well-organized, good lighting, convenient changing areas 3. The salespeople, in my experience, are more about actually helping me find the right clothing for my needs vs. 'pushing a sale.' The difference is enormous. When I feel pressured to buy, I just want to leave. When I feel listened to, advised, and even educated about various options, I feel empowered and glad to find ways to make things work. I've received some excellent suggestions from the salespeople that ended up saving me tons of money and resulted in a better wardrobe. That's real value for me. 4. They run frequent, good sales. If you're patient, you can get substantial discounts. 5. Their loyalty program provides additional good discounts. Overall, a good place to shop for men's clothes. read more

I went to Macy's yesterday to buy a suit. When I went to the suit section, I was greeted by a sales rep named Otis. I detailed out what I needed and he helped me get exactly what I wanted within my price range. He was up-front, honest and extremely helpful. You could tell that he really enjoyed his job, and it showed through his knowledge and ability to find exactly what I wanted. If you're his boss and reading this, please give him a raise. WORST SERVICE EVER! Went here to get a pair of Frye boots and Lucky Brand booties (which would have added up to about 450 dollars). Once I had picked out my boots, I went over to the area to get my size. Waited there for about 10 minutes, asking multiple people to help me, with all of them referring me to a different person. Finally just left because I realized I was going to get no service. ALSO, the whole store is just a mess so don't even try finding your size among the mountain of clothes left in corners. I took 2 items to the register in the Free People area, 1st floor. I had 2 coupons and asked the female employee to please use which one would benefit me most. Instead of figuring it out for me, she just used the $10 off coupon rather than the 20% off. Then she just threw the 2 items, which were wraps for formal gowns, in the smallest possible bag she could cram them in without even folding them. Once I left the register, I stopped at the next one in the ladies INC section, to ask the female employee there to please fix the sale for me because using the CORRECT coupon would save me $8 more. It took her a LONG time to even figure out that I had two items! Come on, this is Macy's! I would've expected much better service from them than that huge inconvenience of my time. read more

The lack of service in this store in absolutely unacceptable. I went to Macy's with the intention of purchasing some new bras. I was very excited to discover that the store had the bras on sale. Having had issues several times before with Macy's honoring coupons and with items ringing up under their sale prices, I did my homework. I read the sign very carefully and chose items that were clearly a part of the sale. I chose 6 bras , which would have been a $250 purchase. I waited in line at the intimates register for 10 minutes. I went to a different register and the lady looked at me and said "next." No greeting, nothing. I asked how she was and she said "fine." Of course my bras didn't ring up correctly. She begrudgingly went to the intimates section and came back telling me that I chose the wrong bras (I didn't!) and that I'd have to go wait in line at the intimates section to have them handle it. I told her to forget it and left without purchasing anything. I went directly to Dillard's and purchased my items. No wonder Macys is in such financial trouble. I'm sure in no time this location will be closed. It was proved to me today that they don't value me as a customer. I will NEVER step foot in another Macy's again. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. HORRIBLE customer service in shoe department. Found sandals on the rack and stood in line at register for quite some time, long lines started to form with no one in sight to help. There was no price on them (not my fault) and she told me to go find another pair myself with a price. I didn't have anytime to go fishing through then stand back on line so I said well if you can't figure out the price then I don't want them. She said, "next" I turned around and said "great customer service!" And walked away. Bloomingdales is the only thing keeping Macys afloat. read more

This store has disappointed me several times. Staff isn't helpful, clothes are very disorganized and most of all the store is filthy dirty.

This review is just in reference to the perfume counter at this location (Alpharetta, GA). Let me just start off by saying that I will not be purchasing (nor supporting), these ladies in this store! I'll be going elsewhere! I was looking to return some foul smelling (Viva La Juicy) lotion that I got as a gift. Now I do not know where it was purchased from (and was not about to ask the giver), so I was guessing at a major department store like Macy's. I described how it was packaged and that it was given as a gift. The older short lady who was the manager was describing to me that there was nothing she could do but in a very condescending way (like I was slow or something!?), While I came to understand that they could not do anything for me without a receipt or box, there was NO need for the condescending demeanor, as I was simply just trying to return a gift, to no avail. Shopping at the mall with holiday crowds is often not very fun, but last Monday we had a very positive experience at Macy's Northpoint in the bedding department. Without going into too much detail, we had a good idea of what we wanted from a certain display, but many of the items either had to be collected from various parts of the department or needed to be ordered. Very luckily for my wife and me, Anita Norman, a Macy's personal shopping specialist, stepped in to help and spent considerable time making sure we got just what we wanted. She also suggested some items we hadn't originally planned to get, but would've needed to complete our bedroom project. Plus she was able to put our coupons to the best use possible, which also enabled us to get some (higher quality) items we were originally planning on purchasing elsewhere. In short, thanks to Anita we left Macy's very satisfied customers who will return next time we can use Anita's help. read more

I have been a customer of Macy's for over twenty years. I wanted to order a shirt that was not available on line in my size. I called my local store and was told that the Northpoint Mall location had four in my size. I got very frustrated trying to reach the right department and connect with an associate. After multiple tries with their new phone system I connected with ladies shoes and finally got in contact with their department manager, Cathleen Gehling. Even though ladies clothes wasn't her department, she kept me on her phone and physically went to this department and tracked down the shirt. She found the shirt in my size and handled my phone order. We always hear about poor service but Cathleen went out of her way to help a customer. She represents "GREAT" customer service that seems to be missing from a lot of retail employees. She is definitely an asset to this store!!! read more

If I could give Macy's shoe Dept a negative 5 I would. Under staffed, frazzled workers and just a mess. After standing for over 10 minutes waiting for help a frazzled manager sprinted off for what I thought was my shoes. Wrong!! She sprinted back by me and started picking up a table. Finally someone came up with no name tag on and a faded shirt and asked if I needed help. Who is this?? Does she work there?? I am a regular shopper at Macy's at Northpoint. My daughter and I were at Macy's to purchase a Kate Spade watch for her birthday. Looked at watches in the case and waited for a sales associate. She chatted with a lady and a young girl who appeared to be friends and not shoppers. The sales associate looked at photos on both of their phones and held and admired the lady's purse. She never glanced over at us (and we were close), let alone said something like "I'll be with you in a moment." We continued to wait and when we realized she could care less about helping us or getting our business, we walked down the hallway and purchased a $225.00 Kate Spade watch from a very pleasant and helpful associate at Von Maur! read more

I was in the women's department of the Macy's at north point today and want to give a shout out to the women who checked me out! I asked her name and of course I cannot remember it now but it was about 12:45pm, I think her name was Amelia or Amanda? Anyway...she was so helpful, caring and professional. A women asked her a quick question to find the petite department and she took a few seconds to direct her but didn't take a moment away from me. Stopped by Macy's North Point women's dept on my way home from work yesterday to pick up a pair of pants. The parking lot was empty; the store was virtually empty. When I went to check out in women's, there was one customer ahead of me with a large order still switching out items for different colors. After the switching was done, she decided to open a new account. Of course, I got the customary "I'll be with you in a minute from the clerk" ... who was much more interested in her commission for opening up a new credit account than my wait time. So I tried a close by register in men's ... same situation ... one customer in the process of checking out who was opening a new account. I walked down to another register in men's, the clerk walked away from the register to look for an item, just as I walked up. I went back to the other register in men's where they were still going through items and opening the account. The women's register was still tied up with the account opening customer, too. Ultimately, I waited 20 minutes to check out in a store that was dead ... this was not a busy Saturday afternoon .. it was dinner hour on a weekday. When I finally got to the register I asked to see a manager. Damian came by with another manager about 5 minutes later. His colleague was kind enough to check out the man behind so he wouldn't have to wait ... where was she when I was waiting? I voiced my displeasure over the long wait time to Damian who apologized and said that the store was short staffed. I told him that I had just come from PetSmart who called for a back-up cashier when the customer in front of me had a question. I'm guessing that along with his colleague Damian (and all the other store managers) have had register training. It's too bad the store managers at Macy's North Point are too good to man the registers and back up the regular cashiers to eliminate long customer wait times. Macy's could learn a lot from stores like Pet Smart about good customer service! read more
