The sales associate, Matt, couldn't be more helpful. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the furniture. Answered every question we had. When I'm feeling e-Macy-ated, I come here. Actually not at all. Not a fan of Macy's and never have been. This one is at the massive Crossgates Mall out in Albany on the west side of town, and can get pretty busy because the mall is still pretty well trafficked. Having said that, unless there's a sale on, you probably won't find too many good things. Also the politics of the store make me automatically dislike it - but even if it was the most left-wing store ever I would still think it was overpriced and lagging behind JCPenney in a lot of ways. read more

I came here looking for dress shirts and found a good selection at prices that were comparable to other stores. I appreciated that their dressing rooms had an area off the general floor where people could talk, look at the mirror to see how things fit, and sit down whilst waiting those who were cycling through outfits. What I didn't like was that the changing rooms looked really old and tired and were covered in pins. Also, despite being a Friday night two weekends before Christmas I didn't see any employees on the floor to help customers. Granted, I really didn't need help but it seems odd to be able to look over the entire section and see no one else but me. I guess no one wants to go shopping, or serve customers, on a Friday night. read more

Not surprised to see they only have 2 stars. First of all it is as hot as a sauna in here so make sure you're dressed in your beach gear before showing up. I came in here to return a $90 sweater and $80 pants. They were gifts so unfortunately I didn't have a receipt, and I expected to get a lower amount of money back. The big issue came after the return was complete and the customer service agent told me that a check would be sent to my house for my refund? I have never heard of this before every other Macy's has always given a gift card for a return. Do they not want me to continue shopping there? I do not understand why they wouldn't just give me money to spend right there in the store rather than mailing it to my house. When I asked the customer service agent why I can't get a gift card she said that is not an option on her computer and proceeded to show me the screen. I don't work at Macy's, I don't care what's on your screen, I just want my money, so why are you showing me? I will probably continue shopping at a different Macy's because this was just absolutely ridiculous. read more

I have never been a big fan of any chain stores and especially department stores, but Macy's in Albany is different. I am not saying that they have the best customer care reps in the world but they are as good as it gets in Albany. It is hard to find one right away but once you have their attention, they are very helpful. They will not only help with selection of the goods but also advise you about the best time to buy it so you can get the best deal. They are always pleasant while dealing with customers. I have been here many times during my stay in Albany and surely miss it now when I am in cleveland. read more

One stop shop for our home.... Like a quality Wally World (lol)... Furniture and bedding is a challenge to find these days that has style. Macy's is awesome. And their staff make you feel at home... Even with social distancing and face covering. I highly recommend this location. read more

WORST customer service anywhere. After bad experiences in the past here I am again..... I was at the designer watch counter and could not get anyone to help me. I fortunately found a nice saleswoman at the handbag counter but she said I had to make my return at the watch counter. She walked over and the sales associate with watches, who would NOT EVEN LOOK AT ME said "I'm busy. Come back in 15 minutes!" Are you kidding me?!?! Never again. This store is awful, i had some girls that work there fallow me around into the dressing room basically arras me me like i was going to steal the clothes, i left my dressing room to grab a smaller size shirt they took all my stuff out of the dressing room, and give me attitude. I was in here purchase baby cloth today. The cashier had a bad attitude. I prepared clothes for my son and nephew, and did not give me a shopping bag. They asked to charge 50 cents per paper bag. I bought this macy's for 5 years and never knew that the shopping bag would be charged. ! Finally, let us leave with 40 clothes! Had an extremely negative experience at the Clinique counter at the Crossgates Macy's. While I normally wouldn't rate an entire department store based on a single employee interaction, I've consistently found this Macy's location to have employees who are less helpful than the Colonie Center location. read more

Beware the lie of 20 pct. off if you open a charge account. I was told by the cashier that I would get 20% off a $595.00 Coach purse . The bill came and the discount was no where near 20%. I called and was told the discount was only on the first $100.00. I explained that the cashier was very clear in telling me the amount I would save and it was on the entire purchase price. I was offered a $15 discount to "make me happy". Cashiers often are paid a bonus on opening new accounts so read the small print, especially at Macy's . They are known to have many exclusions and are obviously not above deception to sell higher priced items. Paid them off and cancelled the account. Also, be aware that they make a hard pull on your credit report so they rip you off and affect your credit. Use your debit or credit card but STAY AWAY from Macy's accounts. read more

I am about a month late but. I called in a while ago and spoke with a Heather in Impulse Beauty. I needed to schedule an eye brow waxing appointment so I called in. She proceeded to be super rude and super short with me. She told me that she can't do that right now (Never told me as to why) and that I can schedule it on yelp. When I tried to ask why because I have never used yelp so I much rather call in.. She asked me if there was anything else I needed? I am a Customer Service Manager myself so I know I hold people in Customer Service roles to a higher standard, but my god. If Jamie wasn't the best with eye brows, i'd never go back. Ever. read more

This place is poorly run. I was looking for a few different items and couldn't find a single associate in any of the departments I went to and nobody at the customer service register in the women's department. I had to ask someone in jewelry where the fitting room was because they're not even marked. I had a question about shoes but didn't see anyone in that department either so I found someone near makeup and she pointed out a lady who had no name tag or store identification, so I wouldn't have known she was an employee. I was quickly reminded why I hate this store and only go to the one in Colonie Center. read more

This specific review is for the employee at the watches section, Daquan. He was impatient and rude throughout the whole process of me choosing a watch. He was reluctant to check prices for me in the system and instead opted to say I'm not sure when he could have easily scanned the price. Watches are not inexpensive items and I would have appreciated an employee who did not roll their eyes, sighed everytime I asked to see an item, tap their fingers, and checked their phone multiple times. Coming from NYC, I've encountered many less than pleasant retail experiences but I'm surprised to find this type of disrespect at a quiet store in Albany. It is not unreasonable to spend at least 5-10 minutes deciding on an expensive item and an employee who does not have that minimal patience or courtesy should not be working in such a section. On the contrary, the furniture section employees are super sweet. I am sorry to leave a poor review based on one employee but based on the other reviews about watches and jewelry here, I hope macys hires some better talent. read more

I have always been a Macy's fan. I shop there quite often. They don't have a great boys clothing selection but their women's dept is fairly well stocked as is their handbag dept. I recently used their online app and ordered my husbands birthday present... I paid extra for shipping but his present (a fossil watch) arrived on time and came nicely packaged with a card. The problem is that I asked for all price tags to be removed and they forgot the one on the watch... The price isn't listed on the packing slip or anywhere else but on the underside of the watch... I was so bummed... I didn't want him to know what I spent... Otherwise I really enjoy shopping at Macy's and really love their Chanel makeup counter! read more
