I was contacted by Kristian almost immediately and he proceeded to ask me for more detailed information as to what my situation was and needed to be done. Very clear communication throughout the three to four messages and he was able to place me into his schedule on 4/18. He provided me a clear timeline when he would arrive and when he estimated to be complete with the job. Day of our appointment Kristian contacted me to inform me he had a previous appointment rescheduled by a client and asked if he could start the job earlier which worked out great for me. After the job was complete he showed me the completed work and walked me through how to use the new isolation valve he had installed. He even cleaned up the work area so it's like he wasn't even there except for the new equipment he installed. From my initial inquiry for an estimate to project completion was less than three calendar days. Finding a business that provides a timely estimate for a project and follows through by doing what they say when they say they will do it is exceedingly rare in 2026. Of course, I did not call Steve's Plumbing back. I gave 535 Plumbing a call and they were fantastic. Not only did they come out quickly to my home but they were very reasonably priced. I understand Steve's Plumbing works on commission so they charge a lot. 535 Plumbing charges a flat rate which is fair to the customer. My wife and I are retired so keeping expenses under control is important to us. 535 Plumbing sent two people to my home. Both were very nice and were very thorough to insure the install was done correctly and nothing was leaking. Thanks 535 Plumbing. I will be using again for any future plumbing needs I may have.

I used them a few times in the past and they were good. One of my tenants scheduled with them to repair an actively leaking angle valve. It was scheduled 5 days in advance. 535 just canceled the appointment the next day claiming that they don't have the part, and they don't know when they can find it. This excuse as pure bs. It's a common angle valve. I could go up to the hardware store right now and pick one up. If you need a plumber that will stick to their scheduled appointments, 535 isn't it. If you are a building manager, do not recommend to your tenants, they will only make you look bad.

The sewer was backed up! This means they had no toilet/shower/anything. My dad lifted the toilet to get to the sewer line directly and still no luck. No luck through the cleanout either. I had to find a plumber fast because my mom is having some health/memory issues, and it would be very difficult for my parents if they didn't have a functioning system. I started to call around to find a plumber and noticed JNJ was located close to my parents house. I called, and he had some of his guys close by and available, they showed up within 20 minutes and began working on it. They were both very professional and cool, but unfortunately after trying for over an hour, the blockage was still immobile, the auger and snake couldn't do it. They said they needed bigger equipment to clear it, and would have to have Jason (owner) stop by later. Jason was on other side of island, but he called and said he was finishing up a job and would be there after. He showed up around 6pm, I believe with his son. I had to leave already but my dad told me how they worked and worked on the pipe for a long time and finally were able to make it through the blockage. They're still not sure what it was, but my dad was so happy with their service. They spent awhile cleaning up, resetting the toilet/wax seal my dad had pulled, and making sure everything was working. This must have been the end of a very long day for them as I think it was past 7pm when they finished. My dad is sort of old school, like he hates having things done by other people because he still thinks he can still do everything himself. But after seeing the hard work JNJ did and how great of a job they did, he was telling me how happy he was that he used them. He also said their price was very reasonable. I've had a few plumbing jobs here and there on my own place, and never found a place I'm 100% happy with, but now with JNJ I've found a new plumber that I would highly highly recommend. My dad said he will also be using them in the future if he needs more help. Thanks Jason! You really helped my parents out, and you did it in such a professional way.

They explained every step of the way and any time they ran into any difficulties from the previous installers they informed me of them and already had multiple solutions. They didn't rush through the job at all and repaired things around the window on their own so that the rest of the area around the window looked just as new as the windows. Nick arrived exactly at the appointed time, took a quick look (and listen) at my door and diagnosed the problem in a minute or two. Then, since the problem was a seal on the door, asked me if I simply wanted him to remove the seal to stop the sound, and gave me the pros and cons of doing so. I said yes and he removed the seal and put things back together. He gave me some tips on what to use to lubricate the door, as well as--if I ever wanted to replace the door--what I should look for and how to save money. Nick was knowledgeable, personable and effective in solving my problem. I highly recommend Oahu Windows and Doors.

I *hate* making phone calls, but the receptionist was SUPER nice, so that immediately put me at ease. Their quote was flat rate and very reasonable so I was happy I wouldn't be guessing how much it would come to at the end. She apologized for not being able to get me in the week I called but was able to fit me in the next week - which was faster than I had expected! The technician came at the quoted time and took about an hour, which is how long they had told me on the phone. It says something about other companies on island that this is a noteworthy comment! He was very friendly and worked quickly and efficiently. He showed me the visible spots he had cleaned, but the best thing is now our AC is back to being icy cold - I had to bump it up to make it warmer! - and it smells nice and clean. I paid in cash (there is a fee if you use card. You can also write a check if you prefer). We will definitely be happy to use this company again in the future!

My apartment had recently suffered multiple unidentified leaks this past year that has been a…read morenightmare to navigate. I first messaged Mike and other candidates in 2025 when I was gathering quotes for an insurance claim that ultimately got denied. It was very clear that Mike and the team have great workmanship from the photos - this is coming from someone who's seen great drywall work and extremely poor work that I could do better myself. I could tell right off the bat that these were the guys I wanted to work with. The proof was in the "mudding" as I changed scope to account for materials, budget, level 4-5 finish, and paint finish quality. Having to pay out of pocket for an expense I anticipated someone else to cover was a bit of a concern for my wallet. Mike was patient with me and we worked out a price we could agree on by removing items from the scope that might still been in good condition and limiting the amount of work that needed to be done on a bump-out wall next to my shower. John texted me soon after we agreed to move forward and scheduled the work for the following week. He also suggested a change in material (DensShield) from what I had originally requested (blueboard) and I am so grateful to have skilled/experienced teammates to work with that really know what they're doing. Day 1 was demolition, hanging, and mudding. John was finished and out before lunch and I could already tell that the quality of work was spectacular. You couldn't even tell the ceiling was repaired because it was blended in perfectly with the surrounding area. The bump-out wall was looking way better than it was even prior to the water damage. We left the fan on throughout the day and overnight to let the hot mud dry out. Day 2 was sanding, priming, and painting. Fortunately, I purchased and stored paint that was specific to my bathroom from a previous repair and had it at the ready this time around as well. Honestly, when I first discovered the leak, I originally planned to fix it myself so I also had a brand new container of primer. I'm pretty satisfied with the work, especially with the DensShield suggestion and installation in both affected areas to account for future leaks. I didn't know such product existed and the workmanship mudding a material such as DensShield and it essentially coming out nearly flawless is pretty impressive. Overall, I would give Mike's team a solid 9/10. Prompt responses, flexibility in materials/scope, and great quality of work. The quote, as some have mentioned is on the higher side compared to other candidates I'd spoken with, but I learned the last time that you get what you pay for. Could I have gotten it cheaper? 100%. Would it have come out as good? Not sure. The last guy I hired at maybe half the price got the job done, but clearly not done well and that's what got me in this predicament, SO... don't cheap out if you can help it - especially for a bathroom or high-moisture/high-risk area. I'm certain I'll be working with Mike and the team in the future and there are no regrets here as compared to my last drywall adventure. Thank you Mike & John for your patience and hard work.

I had an old cast iron waste pipe under the house, that was rotting away to the point where it was a little canal instead of a tunnel. I was dreading getting under the house and trying to figure out how to replace the pipes, tie back into my very old cess pool and recently replaced PVC piping. After I met Dave last summer and explained the job, he was super easy to deal with and very clear in his plan and explanation of the tasks that needed to happen. He seemed very experienced and listened to all of my concerns and issues patiently. As with most difficult replacement jobs, we discovered several other areas of rotten pipe, and Dave was totally upfront about additional costs and was able to keep to his original schedule even with the new dirty jobs. Dave was a great guy to work with - totally positive and proactive. As a homeowner. I always worry about getting either gauged for pricing, or a shoddy job that requires me to try to figure out how to fix it, or call in more help. With Macs, the long worrying problem went away. My water bill went from $250 to $573, so I turned off all the water in the house and checked the meter outside. It was running and based upon the flow, my next bill would be over $1300. My neighbor recommended Mac's Plumbing in Kailua, 808-638-1435. An independent leak detection service told me that the leak was under my home's 60 year old foundation in the middle of my living room and recommended that "all the cold water galvanized piping" be replaced. David from Mac's Plumbing came to my recue. This guy is a gentleman. In under a week's time the job was done professionally at a very reasonable price considering the huge amount of work involved. These guys are great. We had to move some water pipes and drains for a remodel. Dave not only capped off the old pipes but suggested a better way to run the new ones that was less expensive and less invasive to the new cabinets. They work quickly and clean up. No flux residue left on the pipes etc, Very professional and reasonable. I would highly recommend Mac's Plumbing. read more

The owner Chad answered the call and was very patient listening to my explanation of the problem. He clearly knew what was needed and we scheduled a day and time. The day before our scheduled appointment I asked Chad if he would be able to replace my garbage disposal, no problem. I took a picture of the existing disposal and sent it to Chad. Chad arrived on time and I appreciated his assessment and on what would be done. He installed the pressure regulator with copper piping and recommended if I would like to have a water outlet installed. Great location Great idea! Chad also replaced an old hose bibb valve that was stuck to the hose. The garbage disposal installation went well and his assistant showed me where the reset on button is located as well as what to do if the blades are jammed. I highly recommend Plumbing Kings Hawaii because they are reputable, honest and reliable. Chad has immense knowledge and expertise in the business beyond his years.
