Mac's Market is a family owned and local grocery store that sells fresh vegetables, beer, wine, meats, deli, and baked goods. My mother and I stopped in while walking in the downtown area. The store was very clean and you could tell that it was an older market, but the market still had many options to choose from. My mother spotted this Macaroni and Cheese with Sautéed Kielbasa and it very delicious. It was very creamy and was just decadent. My, my what great flavors. The store is a little expensive but store isn't. The customer service was great and the staff were pleasant. read more

I stopped into this market after we checked into our Airbnb. It was definitely older than a modern grocery store, but I was able to find all of the things that I needed. The prices were a little more than I would have paid back home, but they had a lot of choices for normal grocery store items. Be prepared that you will have to buy your own bags if you don't bring them. But they were only $.10 each! read more

Was it racism, elitism, or just a disdain for non-residents? I spent close to $250 this evening, stocking up on groceries for the week at this rather expensive little market. When I got to my white Ford van, there was a note threatening to tow my vehicle! It was obviously freshly printed out just for me on a plain sheet of paper, something to the effect of "If you're parked here just to go walk around, this parking is for customers ONLY. Next time you WILL be towed!" Two other cars were parked next to mine. The other 50 or so spots were empty. It was a BIG lot! Hey, Mac's: No worries! I'll drive to Burlington to that charming co-op they have next time I'm here staying at my time share. Maybe I'll find a better and much fresher selection - like cauliflower without black spots, and fresh noodles that don't have any mold on them. I'd hate to take up space in your parking lot while spending too much money again. There won't be a "next time" for this place. And if you're not a local, be advised to shop elsewhere lest your car is towed while you're searching for fresh broccoli amid the close to spoiled selections. read more

The lady behind the deli counter was either having a bad day, hated visitors, hated customers or just hated me. Hard to know for sure. She still made me a delicious sandwich. I did, however, notice that locals seem to get the cashier's best service. As a place that must supplement its revenue with tourist dollars, I truly hope this experience was an outlier. read more

What a relief to have a place to shop (in person) during a pandemic where people are masked and for the most part respectful of social distancing. This store is clean, offers a great variety of food and the folks working there are friendly and helpful. Living in a tourist area can be difficult but Mac's helps us to stay just a little bit safer. I came to this market solely searching for alcohol. (All of the liquor stores were closed). And I have to say I was ecstatic when I came across an entire aisle dedicated to alcohol. I was unable to find nips so I asked where they were, as and it was only 20 minutes to close. They do not carry hard alcohol here, but the staff was very helpful and directed me to a local liquor store they thought may still be open. read more

A lot of food and produce to choose from. Prices were good and helped us eat cheaper but still great tasting meals while in Stowe.

This was a quick and convenient grocery stop while in town. It's a small selection and a little expensive, so I wouldn't shop here for all my groceries if I lived in town, but it met all of our needs while on vacation. Staff was friendly, the groceries were good quality, and the location was great. read more

Huge gluten free selection, large wine selection, milk in glass bottles, great cheeses and a surprisingly good selection of fresh veggies and herbs. This is a big little market that makes Stowe a better place to live and visit. Having said all that, yeah, it's a good idea to check the expiration dates. read more

Mac`s is an OK food store if you are staying in downtown Stowe. It is fairly small, so not a big surprise that in general their selections are limited. There are a good number of local products in the mix which is nice. You can buy some local VT cheese, beef jerky, beer, maple syrup and other products. The customer service is a bit lacking as another Yelper pointed out. None of the employees seem to be enthusiastic about their work and as a result the customer experience suffers. Other similar independent markets in Vermont have left me with a better impression. But again, if you`are in the area, this place will work & buying groceries to cook your own dinner beats some of the overpriced restaurants in town. read more

Mac's Market is a cute little grocery store/market. It's the biggest you'll find in Stowe. It's pricier then most grocery stores but that's to be expected in Stowe. They have the standard groceries and deli. They also recently started selling Vermont Coffee Company coffee, in bulk, which made me very happy. I also enjoy their large wine selection:) read more

We're in a pandemic and one of their check out staff wears a clear plastic face mask that does not protect her or the people around her. The plastic is a barrier, not a filter. The air she exhales is going out unfiltered in the gap between her face and the mask, because air can't pass through the mask. Also condensation from the mask is collecting on the inside of the mask and dripping down, which is just gross on a person handling food. I called the store manager about it, and he said the plastic mask met state guidelines for a face covering. He did not sound concerned that a customer did not feel safe there, even when I told him I would not shop there while Covid 19 is an issue. So Sadly I have to leave a negative review. I've been going to Mac's for about 15 years, but I'm going to stop while we're in a pandemic. They're not doing much in the way of protective protocols either, other than posting signs saying wear a mask. Shaw's is doing a much better job protecting customers. read more

A nice mini-supermarket which has a decent selection for its size. Located just a few hundred yards before the 3-way intersection of Stowe Village (next to Laughing Moon Chocolates), this is a convenient, centralized location to pick up snacks, bakery and deli goods, ice cream, beer, produce, dairy, or any other groceries you may need. Prices are in-line with most other supermarkets. They even sell small cords of wood for your fireplace or wood stove. read more

A Great market located right in the village, check there weekly flyer for deals. They have a variety of local products including Mansfield Dairy milk, and they do have a small selection of beer and wine. A must visit when vacationing in Stowe for groceries or just a afternoon snack or drink. Walked in a 5 till closing and was promptly informed that they were closing in 3 minutes. A "Hi, you just made it before we close" would have been a tad more inviting. That greeting was followed by an announcement 1 minute later that the store is now closed. I bought a chocolate bar for a little more than $4. and left. Perfect little place to pick up anything you need, from food to beer to souvenirs to newspapers/magazines. It's all in the same spot, right in the middle of town. Being a tourist myself, I was particularly giddy to find nice, warm "VERMONT" sweatshirts for sale there - for $10! (I never did get out of that store with just groceries.) read more

I suspect the milk the previous reviewer mentioned was Kimball Brook Farm organic milk. This is Vermont's organic milk producer with a farm in Ferrisburg VT and a creamery in Hinesburg VT. The milk is delivered throughout New England. Go to www.kimballbrookfarm.com and find store locations. If your store doesn't carry it- ASK! And if they don't carry the chocolate- ASK!!! read more

We were on Thanksgiving Vacation from CT. Ordered a fresh turkey to be put aside for us on arrival. Got in there on Tues before Thanksgiving to verify we could pick up on Wed afternoon. No problem, I watched the kid put our name on a turkey yet it wasn't on the hold list. Went back next day (Wed) the same kid couldn't find our turkey. It was sold to someone else!! They gave me a bigger turkey that I had to pay full price for - $98!! So much for trying to support the local markets. I did the rest of my Thanksgiving shopping at Shaws. At Shaws - Better price and MUCH BETTER SERVICE!! Avoid Mac's! read more

After a disappointing experience at Commodities to buy some vegetables, it was a pleasure to come to Mac's produce dept and see the splendid array of fresh and attractively presented produce both organic and regular. Where the produce at Commodities was poorly arranged and did not look fresh, the opposite was true at Mac's. Shoulda gone there first! read more
