Our dog has a disease that…read morewe discovered about a year ago, so finding a vet we could trust as soon as possible in Columbus was very important to us. The vet tech picked our dog up with one arm around her stomach and the other around her neck while she was clearly uncomfortable and squirming to get away. Throughout the visit, the vet seemed more focused on talking about politics than listening to our concerns about our dog's health. We were only there to establish care and inform the vet of our dog's disease. We didn't need any additional treatment. Our previous vet had advised that our dog be retested around the six-month mark for her specific condition, but the vet here ignored that and went ahead with another test. We explained that our previous vet had told us our dog may test positive for this disease for the rest of her life, and that it's her levels that really matter not just the presence of the disease itself. Our previous vet would always send off her labs and call within 48 hours with detailed results. This vet did not send off her labs at all; he simply saw a positive test and prescribed more medication. He prescribed a stronger round of medication that our dog had just finished taking two months prior and charged us around $250 for pills that had cost $36 at our previous vet. He kept saying that he was really going to get rid of it this time. When we called our old vet for advice, they told us absolutely not to give those pills. They stated it was too soon and could make her sick. We were already thinking this and is exactly why we called them to confirm. We have since taken our dog to another local vet, who took their time to send our dogs labs off, confirmed she is asymptomatic, her levels have gone down, and she does not need more medication at this time. All of this could have been avoided if the vet had taken the time to listen and focus on our dog's actual medical needs instead of political conversation.

Our older dog Franklin needed two separate lateral sutures to fix his torn ligaments in his knees…read more One in September when he hurt the first one which went fantastic no complications. Then the second one went (there was an 85% chance this would happen we were told) and they got Franklin in to see the doc the same day he was inquired to diagnose. Two days later he was set for surgery. Our family has seen Dr. Wally for year and year for many animals Great Grandma down to us. We had never worked with Dr. Harris before but I have to say after what happened Dr. Harris and her team WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO SAVE OUR POOR BOY! Franklin is an older dog and his heart stopped on the operating table. Dr. Harris was able to get his heart back started but then he was not breathing on his own. I assumed the worst possible brain damage, pain, and death. Dr. Harris told me on the phone as soon as it happened and we had to make some tough decisions. Since he was NOT breathing on his own my wife and I wanted so badly to save him but if he is in pain and not breathing on his own he thought it was time to end his suffering while he was still under anesthesia so he would not feel anything more. Dr. Harris explained to us the options for his body and my wife and I said our good byes to Franklin over the phone since no one though he would live long enough for us to make it to the clinic. I was literally on the phone with the receptionist after coming to terms with his passing and arranging the type of urn we wanted his ashes to be put into when I was put on hold. They came back in a few minutes and told me Franklin was STABLE!!! I rushed up to the clinic as fast as I could and Dr. Harris and her team let me back into the operating room to see him. Franklin was still under anesthesia and Dr. Harris said they wanted to try to flush his system with fluids to see if he would wake up once the anesthesia was out of his system. Dr. Harris said he would need overnight monitoring and that their clinic is not equipped for that. They gave us options on who to call but the only location who could help was Auburn Emergency and they wanted $4,000-$6,000 for the overnight monitoring. As much as we wanted to save Franklin we just flat out cannot afford that cost for a "maybe he lives" situation. Dr. Harris and her team worked with us and offered to keep Franklin at their clinic where a tech would stop in a few times during the night to check on him. We were very appreciative of their understanding and this accommodation offer. We elected to just take Franklin home that night since we could not afford the Auburn Emergency overnight and we felt that if Franklin was alone in a kennel he would be much happier (even if he passes away during the night) at home in his bed. Dr. Harris and her team were so unbelievably compassionate and helpful during this process. They worked so hard and did every single thing possible to save our sweet boys life. He made it thought the night without the need for fancy overnight monitoring and we hope he will live longer but even just the one extra night with Franklin that we thought we would never have was worth it.

At 100 lbs the cost would have been 100.00 cheaper. For any pet that is over 100 lbs another 100.00. This is robbery. I am tired of places charging outrageous prices. It's not like I walked in off the streets, I have been going there for a while. And paying the full amount every time. It's time for people to stand up and say no. There are many choices out there. I have had two occasions where I had to take two of my babies to Auburn and for the ones that have been there, you know the cost. I don't mine paying for my babies to be taken care of. I feel they deserve what they charge. No one else has been so professional and helpful. Summerville Animal Hospital, I am very dissatisfied and I feel someone needs to review your menu.

After a long weekend of after hours emergency care, and multiple blood panels and IV fluids and meds, she improved slightly. At the recommendation of Dr Murphy, our next step was an ultrasound which was done to rule out possible vowel obstruction. Shadows on the ultrasound suggested tumor or foreign body obstruction. At Doctor Murphy's insistence, we did an exploratory surgery. I checked my calendar, on July 26th at 3pm my big hussy infested a small yellow mango I dropped on the ground and she immediately swallowed while. I observed her for two full weeks for symptoms of an obstruction. The staff and doctors were extremely thorough in their treatment and diagnostics, and now my girl is on the mend. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the care my pet received at Tigertown…read moreVeterinary Hospital. I took my dog in for a checkup, and the vet told me that my boy had an arrhythmia. She then told me that she didn't feel comfortable prescribing him medication until he was seen by a specialist. Totally understandable! After the vet left our room the vet tech came in with her as they were discharging us. The vet tech said that Dr.Cain should start us on a heart med. I was very concerned about this, as I had never heard of a vet tech prescribing medication. But the Dr.Cain just kind went along with it after the vet tech brought up that "it wouldn't hurt" Mind you I asked if I could record the findings as I tend to miss things that are said so I have ALL of this recorded. I called the next day after my dog had serious side effects and to to ask about the medication. The receptionist put me on hold and talked with the owner. She came back and said that Misty (the owner) said to NOT give that to him as it would not give us clear results when we got in with the cardiologist in a few weeks. I am very upset that my dog was given medication without a proper diagnosis. NOT EVEN DIAGNOSED AND THEY ARE GIVING OUT MEDS. In addition, the receptionist was very rude and unpleasant. She made me feel like I was an inconvenience when i just have my pets best interest at heart as I should. I would not recommend Tigertown Veterinary Hospital to anyone!

The Dr was great, explaining what was happening, what could cause it and the best course of action. Monday morning his staff called to check on Max. Dr Thorsen called right back and talked me through some things to do to help Max feel better, even offered to see him that night, even though it was after hours. He ended up having to keep Max for a few days to perform a procedure. The staff was very attentive to both Max and me when I came to check on him every day.
