Getting a cab in a city I am not familiar with makes me a bit nervous. Vancouver does not have services like Lyft or Uber, so I had to book a cab to get to the Amtrak station early in the morning. Among all the companies, I am glad I chose MacLure. Booking a cab on the phone the day before was easy, the driver was friendly, punctual and courteous, and the fee was absolutely reasonable. Their cab is always there before i can get my shoes on and get to the curb. They are always polite and take the most direct route without being told, which i greatly appreciate. Today at Granville Island the driver of MacLures cab number #75 attempted to run me over while I was standing in the general area of his his parking spot. After telling me to F***king move out of his way he then attempted to run me over over. I took a number of photos and then called the cab owners but it appears that they couldn't care less about how their cab operators' behaviour. I am will be contacting the Vancouver Police in the morning to report this incident. In the meantime, my experience with this company is very, very negative and I would suggest using Blacktop or Yellow Taxis as a more polite ethical taxis service. read more

The worst experience I have ever had trying to book a cab in Vancouver. Dispatch told me it would be a half hour. 45 minutes later still no cab and called them back. The dispatch guy (name was something like Boreman or Goreman)just said "We're busy" without any apology. I asked how much longer and he said "No idea." I asked if it was 15 minutes or an hour. He said, "I told you. No idea" with a distinct Screw-Off attitude...incredibly rude. Ended up walking outside and grabbing a Yellow cab sitting out there waiting for a fare. read more

If you need a cab for you and your four legged friend, call MacLure's. From what I understand, you won't have a lot of luck flagging down a cab that will take your pet too. If you call MacLure, they'll send one that will specifically transport animals. read more

The driver of one of your cabs pulled over in front of my house to take a morning piss - this is with open gas stations a block either side of me, and actual parks not far away either if he must piss in the open air. There are kids in these houses and he didn't even look for bushes to go in, just went against a tree out in the open. read more

First time using this cab company, even though it's not my first time in a cab. I called for a cab around the 8th and Cambie area, and it arrived within 5 minutes...which is not unexpected because there are many in this area. Anyways I find that if you know how much it is going to cost you to go to your destination it's much smarter just to say I'll give you $10, $15, what have you, if you get me here in x amount of minutes otherwise they'll drive causally, obviously hiking up the price. This is only if you know your route otherwise they will say it's worth more then it really is and will turn off their meters... :[ I asked the guy at the end why it cost me so much, and I said it was only over a bridge and $10 more...he's like that's the reason why...uhmmm NO, it was because you were driving slow you moron. Plus on top of that he was creepy...I've had some very nice conversations with cabbies, and some have just left me alone (which I like) but I didn't like the vibes this fellow was giving off. I will not be using MacLure's again...I will use Yellow Cab. read more

We needed a 5-person cab to get to a family wedding. Arrival at a specific time was important. I called ahead, was told they could not guarantee the 5-person vehicle unless I called closer to the time. So, I did that, called again, and they said the 5-person vehicle was available and would be there in 10-15 minutes, perfect timing. However, the car that came was a regular sedan, so we had to send two people on ahead and have the others wait for a second cab, which the first driver said he called for us. We were worried by this time so called Yellow Cab. The Yellow cab (called by us 5 minutes later than MacLure's by their driver) got to us within about 2 minutes, MacLure's still had not come, so we took the Yellow cab and cancelled MacLure's. We were LURED by Mac's false promise of customized service. DO NOT BELIEVE THE DISPATCHER, they will say anything to keep you waiting. read more

This company no longer deserves a good reputation - DO NOT SUPPORT THEM. I got in a cab (#27) that had a sign on the window saying it was a non-smoking cab. After less than a minute I complained about the smell of smoke (I am allergic). The driver said no one was smoking in the cab. After a bit of back and forth the driver said "you are probably smelling the smoke on me". I was extremely nauseous and dry heaving the whole way (1/2 hour ride). It was also a very cold evening and being tired I felt very cold. I had to ride with all the windows open to help the smell so was freezing. If I wasn't so tired I would have gotten out and really should have. I tried calling the manager, Cheryl, and left several messages. In frustration the next messages were "hand delivered to the manager. Still no call back. Today I asked to stay on hold while they get her on the phone. It has been 14 days before I spoke with her and I only got her on the phone despite 4+ messages because I refused to hang up. Her tone on the phone made feel as though I was bothering her and she did not care. She said she would talk to the driver but she said she knew the driver didn't smoke (driver said he did). I never got an apology or offer of compensation. After 4+ messages and 14 days I will not use them any more. If a company disappoints it is forgivable if they respond appropriately. Not returning multiple messages about complaints tells me they don't care and I should give my business to another company. I use cabs a lot and will no longer be calling MaClures because they don't care. read more

I was so anxious to get something delicious; I totally forgot my package in his cab. Before I could call the company, the driver had turned the car around, parked it and returned my bag to me!!! We always call MacLure's to go the airport and they always arrive early. The drivers have always been friendly and the cabs are clean (and usually hybrids which we appreciate). Glad to read in another review that they take dogs (have not needed that but might in the future). read more

I called to reserve a taxi the night before to pick me up at 4:00am so I could get to the airport and catch a plane. The woman on the phone said "oh totally no doubt we can to that" The next morning 3:57am rolled around and the cab was not yet here. I was surprised because in the past taxi cabs are at least a couple minutes early for a prearranged pickup. I called to confirm they were on their way/ knew where to go. The woman on the other side of the phone scoffed at me and said it wasn't 4am yet. So I waited the 3 minutes and then I wait 10 minutes more 4:10 comes and still no sign. My traveling buddy called back to see what the issue was (we had a plane to catch) and the man that answered the phone gave a confused response as if the location we were waiting at had been changed. We called yellowcab after that and yellowcab arrived within 3 minutes!!!! read more

After convincing the cab driver at 1:30 am in the morning on a Sunday to drive me back to Burnaby after the PIL show (believe me it is a struggle to find any cab driver past midnight willing to drive me down near Metrotown after a show) I finally got him to drive me for $25 (no traffic). He was friendly enough and took the quick way. So why the 3 stars if I got there at a reasonable price and fast....it's 'cause I shouldn't have to negotiate a ride home after a show when transit on a Sunday doesn't run past 12:30 and the night buses don't start until 2 something. Trusted them more initially than Black Top from previous experience so I called them in a rush to come get me from City Square. 20 minutes, nothing. I call back, they send another over. 10 minutes, I get a call that they're arriving, I go out. Nothing, I call back and apparently they took someone else AGAIN. They send another and it calls me 20 minutes later. Already 40 minutes late for work so I end up just bussing to work instead. Stupid and inconvenient. Do they not ask the name of the passenger that gets in before they give them a ride or were they both the same name? Never using this cab again. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. Waited 45 minutes for a cab because they picked up the wrong person. Call to get another cab, no apology, and say they will try and get another one to me. I request that the caller stay on the line until the cab gets here because I'm waiting outside (have been for a very long time already) and I'm afraid that I'll get ditched again. I'm already 20 minutes late. The caller refuses and hangs up. Fast forward two days and I need to get to the airport. I call, and have been blocked from using the company because apparently I was rude to the caller....he literally didn't even let me speak. He just hung up on me. Took cab number 31 from airport to Ferry terminal on Friday January 11th at 1:30 pm. Driver insisted on going the long way. When we arrived and I did not tip, he called me cheap and refused to unload any bags with my two young daughters and wife waiting. In the end I had to open the back and unload all the luggage while he rubbished me to his fellow taxi drivers in Sikh (I presume). Overall a bad experience. He spent the ride bragging to me about his medical student son (according to him a surgeon) and crying about how shitty Canada is. What a LOSER. read more

MacLure's Cabs have got to be one of Vancouver's worst cabs in the entire town. I live on a one way street with an elementary school on the next block. I watch cab after cab drive the wrong way down our one way street. They know they are doing it but continue to do so. One block over and one block up there is a 4-way stop. Of course MacLures is exempt from any laws or rules of the road, and just blow through the intersection. Try being a pedestrian at the intersection and MacLure's drivers feels they have the right of way over all pedestrians. It's one thing for driver's to put their own lives as risk but they simply don't care about the safety of their passengers. I can't wait for Uber to come to Vancouver (it will, just give it time). Competition is ALWAYS good. With competition comes better drivers. read more

I don't usually post bad reviews, but I gave my feedback directly and nothing was done to rectify it and it doesn't seem like they will do anything to change this. Maybe it was just the one driver who didn't want to pick up a fare but it reflects badly on the whole company and asperson with a disability, I have to depend on taxis to get around and so do many others. Today I called, got a call out that the cab was on the way, got outside, watched it drive by the other side of the street, he called me and told me there is no such address, I told him I am standing right by the location and it does exist. Called maclures, they sent another driver, who called me to sat he would be there in 4 mins, but it was 10 mins. It was a half hour before anyone picked me up. Is this how you treat all of your customers? I'm surprised you are still in business. Because you've lost me as a customer. read more

I'm not sure what the point of calling a cab several hours early for a specific time is, I figured it would be to arrive at your destination at the correct time, but apparently that was an incorrect judgment. It is now much later than the requested time, and we are still waiting, with no phone call heads up and still no cab in sight. We made arrangements for a taxi to pick us up at 10:40 to take us to the train station. By 10:55 they were still not there. Our bus was due to leave the station at 11:30. It was only a 10 minute drive so we figured that we needed to be there by 11:00. My husband went down the street and flagged one down. As far as we know, MacLure's cab never came. So, if you need a taxi to get you someplace on time, do not book one with MacLure's. I should have read the reviews here first prior to making arrangements with them as this seems to be a common occurrence. read more

Usually I call MacLure's because they're quicker than Yellow Cab and their drivers are usually pretty good. Last Friday I phoned for a cab at 3:25 because I needed to get to my mechanic before 5pm to pick up my car...at 3:50 still no cab so I called them and they said they didn't have any cabs in the area and they were going to transfer my request to yellow cab. 4:10 and didn't hear anything...called them back and they said they had no ETA for Yellow Cab and they should be there any minute...4:35 still no cab...waited over an hour in the cold....walked to a bus...missed my pickup appointment for my car - luckily my mechanic left my key hidden so I could still get my car. On top of this all, I had left a voicemail for the manager explaining my frustration with the service and the fact that I had to call THEM back 4 times (no courtesy to call me and let me know what's going on) and I never heard a response. Terrible. The only reason I give 2 stars is they're usually pretty good. Crap customer service. read more
