Most times the cab driver arrive quick, and are friendly with reasonable prices. BUT Ladies beware: But one time I experienced a cab driver who was too friendly and he was hitting on me the whole time (Telling me he's such a patient guy because he waited 2 years to get intimate with his ex gf and stories I didnt care to know about) and he saved the number he used to call me when the taxi arrived and he kept calling me to go out with him the next day, the day after, the week after.......ugh. Never again. These guys used to be great. They used to show up within five minutes. Now, it's just terrible. You wait minimum 20 minutes, even if they say it'll only take 5 minutes. Why not just be honest? If it's busy and it's going to take 30 minutes for a cab, don't tell me it'll be there soon. There's no point lying to me and giving me false hope and making me stand in the sun waiting. Also when you call and they tell you the cab is "in the neighbourhood", apparently they mean "in the city at large". One call, they told me the cab was in high priority, the next they said there was "no cab on the board". I can't believe anything the operator tells me, no matter how empathetic he/she may sound. It's dishonest. My recent cab call took 50 minutes for the cab to show up, despite being told it would take 10-15 minutes and that I needed to go to the airport, and when the guy showed up, he told us he just got the call and just started his shift (two hours after shift change). And this isn't the first time, I've run into problems with their "yes, the cab will be there in 10 minutes" or "it's not busy, it should be there right away" only to wait 20-30 minutes. You can't believe what they tell you. And most of the time, as another reviewer, pointed out, the cab drivers put up a fight about accepting credit cards. They will almost always insist on cash, and then whine and sigh about it. I've had some cabbies insist to drive me to a ATM rather than take a credit card. It's may be laziness, but I see it as sketchiness. If this happens to you, just sit there and say it's the only payment you have. Eventually they'll give in and accept what the stickers on their cabs say they accept. Ridiculous. I've also had one of their drivers insist there was an additional charge because there was a box in the trunk. When I balked and said that I would call the taxi company to inquire about it, the driver relented as if he was doing me a favour. If you need a cab to show up within 15 minutes, MacLure's Cabs can't do it. read more

I always call MacLure's taxi first because of their location. The HQ is right by Granville Island and they always get to my place in a flash. The only time I've had a problem was before the Madonna concert - but 50-60,000 people were trying to get there at the same time, so extra wait-time was to be expected. The people at the call centre are polite and the taxi drivers will almost always have something to say to you. I hate it when taxi drivers talk on their Bluetooths the entire ride. The MacLure's folks have been great and they usually know the score of the game, too! read more

I don't take a cab very often, but when I do, I'm usually nervous about it (due to how many of them drive like they're trying to kill me). I've used MacLure's about 3 times now, and thankfully each driver actually drives safely - what a concept! I usually hail a cab at a hotel, so it seems to be roulette as to which company I end up with. My preference is absolutely MacLure's. The drivers are always friendly, reasonable, and the car is usually clean. My most recent experience was from the Bayshore hotel to Roger's Arena for a hockey game. I told the driver where I wanted to go, and he suggested he would drop me off a block or to away to avoid traffic. "It would be faster for you to walk, otherwise we'd be sitting in traffic with the meter running", is what he said. I really appreciated his honesty, as it would've been easy for him to take the longest route possible and charge me $20. All in all, MacLure's is my go-to cab company. read more

Believe me, I was hesitant to call ANY cab company in Vancouver what with all the poor reviews. I choose to call MacLure's because they seemed to have the least horrible reviews. We had an early morning flight out of YVR so I called at 3:53am for a pick-up from Olympic Village, thinking that I'd have at least 10 minutes to wait. Nope, got downstairs 5 minutes later and the cab was already there. The gentleman that picked us up got all of our bags into the car and 18 minutes later he was unloading us at the terminal. Terrible service, will never use them again. Ordered the cab by phone and they said 10 minutes, they even sent a confirmation number by text. After 40 minutes "no cab in sight". Called them, 3 minutes they said. After 5 minutes, still nothing. So called them to cancel. The agent said ok, but then I very nicely said "this is no way to treat a customer" - She hung up on me!! The extent of my cab usage is almost exclusively back and forth to the airport. My relationship with MacLure's has evolved into an effortless exchange that starts with the phone call. I'm in their database so I usually only need to say that I need a cab to the airport and the time i need it and they already have the rest of the info. Always five minutes prior to the time I specified, the cab pulls up and I receive a call stating the cab has arrived. They have alway managed to get me to my destination safely and on time. Rating a cab company can be kind of hard. Different cab drivers all act different - some are asses, others are awesometown. My experience with MacLure's (which to me sounds like the name of an Irish bait & tackle shop) was, well, decent. From curb downtown to YVR, it was quick and painless. No trouble with taking a card. No sketchiness or taking the wrong route. And he even got my bag out of the trunk for me. Yeah, I'd ride this ride again. read more

My one experience with MacLure's started after reading all the frustrated reviews on here... so I tried to call 45 minutes ahead of when I needed to go to the airport. Arranged the pickup with a polite man, realized a few minutes I'd gotten the timing wrong by 30 minutes, called back to let them know, spoke to a less polite person who still made the change for me, and meandered downstairs to wait and plan a backup route on public transit. The cab showed up a few minutes early (yay!), the driver leapt out to help me with my bags, the cab was clean, and the driver very polite. He got me to the airport in great time, costing about $10 less than the cabbie who brought me to the very same location *from* the airport, (how do they charge, anyway? time or mileage?), did not even murmur a complaint about being paid with a credit card, and pulled my bags back out. Overall, exactly what I would want from a cab. read more

Not a joke, but Translink provided better service than the driver who declined fare. Obviously not all drivers deserve the one star rating. The driver told me that it would be faster for me to walk. I was at Pan Pacific Hotel and I was trying to get to Hastings and Nanaimo. It seemed quite apparent that he wanted to stay within the downtown fare. I'm sticking to the 95B when traveling on Hastings. Thanks for not taking my money. read more

Had a terrible experience this evening. Used their app to book a cab. After about 10 minutes it was accepted and showed a car en route. The car pulled up a block down the street and picked up someone else. The driver clearly didn't check if those were the right people. The app informed me that I was picked up. Not so much. I phoned into the call centre and after 5 straight minutes of ringing someone answered. I gave the booking number and was informed there was nothing they could do - I'd have to wait 30 minutes for another cab. We got a ride with some friends instead. I won't be using this company ever again. To add insult to injury, when I tried to email them a complaint the email bounced back. Nice to see they take customer feedback seriously enough to not have a working email address. read more

Our first experience with MacLure's cabs was perfectly fine. We called for a cab, it showed up, it took us to our destination, we paid and that was that. Our second experience was not quite as happy. The cab was waiting, first in line, outside of our hotel, the Hyatt Regency. The cab driver was a short Indian gentleman who, when he discovered we were going to the train station and not the airport, became sulky and pouty. First he took us way to the train station in a quite roundabout fashion. A side note: we've been to Vancouver many, many times and are quite conversant with the city and how to get around in it. Therefore, we realized at once what the cab driver was doing (trying to get more of a fare by going in a round about way to the station) and commented on it. He then took us to the train station, refused to get out of the cab to help remove the luggage from the back of the cab (they are almost all Prius cabs). Then before my husband could get his coffee off the roof of the cab, where he'd placed it so that we could remove the luggage ourselves, the cab driver took off with screeching tires, spilling coffee all over. The sad part is that whenever we leave Vancouver, we give the cabbie all the Canadian money we have left as a tip. If this cab driver had just behaved respectfully, he would have gotten a huge tip as we had quite a bit of money left. Instead, he got a $2.00 tip. read more

Taxi's are pretty aweful in this city. MacLure's is the only one I ever call anymore though. They always show up quickly and get me where I'm going. I've not had any issues in over two years of riding with them. MacLure's, If you want to further upstage the competition treat your drivers better than they do too! The actual drivers and taxing services provided by this business were acceptable, polite, and timely. Where this business failed was ACCOUNTS. If you are looking to set up an account, whether it be for an event like mine ( a wedding ) or for business purposes. Avoid this business! I will list my issues clearly, so others looking to setup accounts can avoid: 1. When the account was created, I was told everything was activated and successful, I received a number my out of country visitors could use to pay for their cab rides automatically. When the first person arrived, and attempted to use the number, they were told it was not active, and the driver refused to accept it. DESPITE what dispatch said. ( Who ever heard of a driver arguing with dispatch? ) When I called them to find out why this happened, they said the account was 'active' but not processed? Whatever that means. 2. After everything was done, I was told when I had setup the account that the taxi rides would be deducted from my Credit Card at the end of the month. ( Which was what I also selected on the form they gave me ). About a month after this should have automatically happened, I received a letter in the mail with an invoice to pay. 3. This is the REALLY stupid part, I spent 3 weeks calling this phone number, from 3 times a day at various intervals, to trying other numbers for this business. I was told each time the bookkeepers were not in, and nothing could be done. At one point dispatch gave me the number of the management office, which.... to little surprise was also vacant of people working. I tried times ranging from 8:00am to 5:00pm (standard business times ) then unusual times, to no avail. 4. Each time I left a message to please call me back, or email me ( they have all my contact info, but I gave it again ) because i WANTED to pay them. No reply was ever given. After about 4 weeks I heard back from them, acting like everything was normal, and they could charge my credit card, which they had on file.... So they did this, I saw the transaction in my banks log. I thought all was done. 5. One month after this was resolved, I received another call, this one telling me I had the same outstanding balance that was already paid, and they needed to charge me on my card automatically.... I offered to send them the transaction ID that showed I had already paid, and I got an 'oh ok' and they hung up. No calls back yet, so I am still waiting for them to do something more to me. 6. Oh, and a last note, this account was supposed to 'automatically close' deleting all my contact info and Credit Card info stored with them after one month of use. its been 3 months since then... they still apparently have my info if they wanted to charge me with it. so... stay clear business owners and people having weddings who want to shuttle out of country guests. If you just want to get around vancouver and don't need an account. feel free to use them, they are polite and timely. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. This cab company does not know how to do business. (1) the cab driver was extremely rude and (2) myy cab driver ripped me off. I took a ride from the Burrard hotel to the bus station came out to $9.60 Canada dollars, and when I tried to pay with credit card he was being sketchy, asking for it in cash. I didn't have Canada dollars and he said "Do you have US dollars? I can take the equivalent in US dollars" (and MIND YOU, the US dollar is stronger than the Canada dollar). I didn't have enough change to pay in US dollars either so he ended up taking my credit card but swiping for $11 which I didn't see until the receipt printed. WTF. My cab ride was $9.60 NOT $11!! If I was going to leave tip, I should've been given the choice to do so NOT FORCED TO! And his BS reason was that he was trying to save time. This is the worst customer service I have ever received. I will be reporting the unfair charge to my credit card company and Visa and will also let the hotel know how horrible these cab drivers are. This is not a good experience for people visiting Vancouver. read more

Always somewhat prompt service!. Having free wifi is a treat. The drivers are always polite and honest and ask you what route you would like to go and always take the fastest route.. I will literally never call any other cab company.. My only issue is that several times I have called a cab and it has picked up people waving down to driver rather than me who was standing several metres up the road. read more

I booked a taxi to help me move from UBC to somewhere in East Vancouver, the taxi was booked the day before for 5PM. At 5 the taxi didn't come so I called MacLure's and asked about it, it was only then that they dispatched a taxi. When I finally got into a taxi it was more than half an hour later. I specified where I wanted to be picked up (since I have a lot of boxes and luggage) twice but I ended up having to guide the driver to where I was. Still, the driver was nice and helped me load and unload everything swiftly. That earned them one more star... If I were to use a cab ever again I don't know if I would want to book in advance seeing that it wouldn't make a difference anyways. read more

Unbelievably rude driver and the interior of the car was filthy and smelled awful. Normally, I utilize the taxi services of Black Top and Yellow Cabs but this time we flagged down MacLure's cab # M82. This was the worst taxi ride ever. The driver was muttering complaints at me when I used a credit card to pay for the ride. If I had enough cash with me, of course I would have paid by cash! Nevertheless, I have never experienced such a rude driver EVER. If you need to take a cab, I would highly suggest Yellow Cabs or Black Top instead of MacLure's as they both have drivers that are much more friendly and courteous; and the quality of the cars much better than that of MacLure's. read more

Racist, unprofessional, and cab drivers feel entitled to tips for horrible service. I took one of their cabs from Vancouver airport to a location in Richmond. The moment I got into the cab, the driver expressed to me how disappointed he was that I got into his cab, because I was traveling to Richmond from the airport, which is one of the cheapest flat rate fares. He actually said that he doesn't like taking "Chinese customers in Richmond". I decided this driver did not deserve a tip after demonstrating such unprofessionalism. First, he was discriminating against the fact that I am Chinese. Second, he was complaining about my destination in Richmond. If this was a "tactic" to elicit more tips from me, he was wrong. I do not want to encourage such behavior. The third offense was when he dared to ask me why I didn't tip him and he proceeded to show me a fare sheet that states "gratuities not included" in the flat rate fee. I just said to him that "I will tip the next cab driver" and gave him exact fare before asking for my receipt. I am a strong believer of tipping for great service, and no tip for poor service. Because I didn't tip, he also decided to not offer his help with my luggage in the trunk. That is fine, as I am capable of taking out luggage on my own and I was not expecting any additional services from him. He can choose to continue his poor service and wonder why there is no tip from me. Worst cab company I have ever encountered. Would give negative stars if I could. read more

My family of 4 arrived at the airport around midnight, and (after about a 30 minute wait - because of the airport system) finally got our turn to get into a cab. The driver had a bit of an altercation with another driver (about positions in line), but that was not a big deal. Our driver, seemed ok, until we said we were going to Richmond. He was then visibly upset with us, and was mumbling under his breath. The family immediately noticed as everything went very quiet. Then as I was paying (which he was hoping for cash as I did not see him turn on any machine), he stated/grumbled that this was his 3rd fare from the airport to Richmond and that he waits an hour each time.. He did not help (or at least give the impression that he wanted to help) to get the bags out, for which he received no tip (for service). As background, we had been returning from a couple week trip where we were in probably 20 ubers... every one was extremely happy, or at least pleasant, and happy to have us as customers.. this was a very poor reception home, and I feel that this would be the first impression that any visitor would receive.. c'mon MacLure's - you can do better to represent Vancouver. On another side note.. I called the company 5 times today to give feedback, each time either disconnected (once while talking to the general manager Ham) or couldn't get thru. This is what prompted the review here. **Update** Ham, the general manager just called me back, and let me know that Telus is working on their phone problem right now. He also was very attentive to my concerns, and I feel confident that he will be discussing with his employee. Updating to a 2 star review, just because of Ham. read more

If I could rate this business with no stars I would. ZERO. This is an absolutely dreadful taxi service and should be avoided at all costs. I needed a taxi to take my elderly mother and I from downtown to the north shore, no big deal right? The taxi arrived promptly and when the driver was asked to take us over the bridge to north van we were instructed to get out of the taxi. This driver did not want our fare, obviously hoping for an airport run instead. leaving us on the street corner with no ride. My only regret was not taking a photo of this driver so his employer can identify him and give him the dress-down he so desperately needs. Uber? Pffffff bring it on. We ordered a MacLure cab for our 7am trip to the airport the night before. Our driver was outside and ready to go at 7am. We made it to the airport a little faster than we thought we would. Our driver was pleasant and we chatted with him the whole way. He helped with our bags in and out of the cab. Fare was $30 for trip from Davie Village to airport. After disembarking from the ship this morning we waited in an incredibly long line for a taxi. We got MacLure's just by the luck of the draw. The driver loaded all our bags in the back and Alan gave him the address of the Air BNB where we'll be staying. The car was clean and comfortable. The ride was fairly short and the driver was inventive in getting across the street and into the driveway of the high-rise building. He unloaded our bags, Alan paid him and he was on his way. read more

I made a reservation (well-ahead of time using their app) for 4AM to catch an early flight. At 3:55AM I received a call from them asking where I was planning to go and if still needed a cab. They refused to tell me how long I would have to wait, but the app showed that my cab was just leaving the airport, which is 30 minutes away from my place. When I called back to ask why they did not send a taxi for 4AM as I reserved, they said that that's how their system works, that they did not have a lot of cabs in my area, and that I should be happy that a car was on its way to pick me up. There was no apology for messing up my reservation, and the operator sounded very arrogant. I cancelled my reservation, called Black Top Cabs, and they sent a cab within 5 minutes. I've been using MacLure's for 10 years, but never again. They are unreliable and rude. But more generally, we urgently need Uber and Lyft in Vancouver. read more

A couple weeks before Christmas, I was trying to cross street on green light on Anderson at Granville Island crosswalk. A driver from this company barely missed me by a foot. He sped up to leave and left me shaking. it was so quick that I was unable to take his licence plate. I call right away the company and was transferred to a general manager's voicemail. I left a lengthy message asking to follow up with me. The GM never called me back. They not only lost me as a customer, but all my friends as well. I called two hours before to book a taxi for 12:45 pm from a West End address. I needed to be at the Seaplane terminal at 1 pm. Lots of time,I thought. It's a 10 min drive in bad traffic. 12:45 came. I called dispatch and was told it should be there in 10 mins. I explained my reason for pre-booking was to ensure it arrived on time. I rang off and waited. I called again at 12:55 and was told they were 'trying to find your taxi.' What?!?! I didn't curse but expressed my amazement and disbelief. 'Oh, sorry.' I ended up driving myself, paying for parking, and almost missing my trip. These bloody cab companies are lobbying against Uber. You've got to be kidding! If they would provide a service I'd be more sympathetic. And they're all the same. read more

Hard to find a decent cab company in Vancouver. Cabs are late, don't show up, drivers don't know where they are driving to ... need I say more. We need better service and more options! Ordered a cab via Maclure's Cabs app this evening - as a frequent cab user you would hope you have some priority - app confirms taxi is on the way, cab #69 has accepted the fare, app tracker shows cab is nearby 2 minutes away. Suddenly app says pickup confirmed? Cab heading in different direction. Left stranded outside waiting for new cab. Call company and they send new cab out 15 m later no apologies. When I called the company back they said there was no taxi in the area and that no car was even on its way. I had the displeasure of taking a MacLure's cab a short distance last night, went to pay and as per usual was told that they only want cash. Refusing to pay by cash, I use my VISA card and still tip 10%, to which I immediately regret as the immature driver starts to complain that I didn't tip him enough and he wants more. Booked Maclures via phone one day in advance and no issues with them whatsoever. Automated caller called my cell close to once cab was closeby. Cab was so clean, driver was pretty untalkative, straight to the point, not friendly but no fuss. No issues. But do know, we booked one day in advance. read more

Called Saturday and spoke with a nice lady to schedule a cab to the airport on Sunday at 5am. The cab arrived 10 minutes early, took the most expeditious route to the airport and was able to accommodate my credit card for the fare and tip. The cab was clean and the driver was polite. I don't think there's anything more that I could have asked for. read more

We used the app for MacLure's Cabs twice today, once for an advance booking, once to pick us up immediately. Both times it worked great. The first driver was on time and took us directly where we needed to go. The second driver showed up less than a minute after the booking was confirmed and also took us the most direct route. We've never ordered a cab from MacLure's but one of their drivers came into our home and refused to leave. It was this past Victoria Day; my husband had forgotten to lock the door after walking the dog and about 15-20 minutes later we found a man standing in our foyer. He never knocked or rang the bell; he just came into our home, shut the door behind him and started looking around our entryway and office. We only realized we had an intruder because the dog started barking. We repeatedly asked the man to leave but he refused and instead insisted he was there to pick up someone named "Shannon." My husband had to go down to the foyer to escort the man out of our house. After speaking with VPD who advised us to double-check our belongings, we believe the man must have looked at some mail that was by the front door; there was a mis-addressed letter to a "Shannon ____" who didn't live here, which was the name he was using to justify his presence in our home. I contacted MacLure's and the weekend dispatcher put me in touch with the Company Manager, Cheryl Johnston. Emails and voice mails were ignored until I spoke with a weekday dispatcher whose response to Cheryl's lack of communication was "Well, you filed a report with the police. What do you expect us to do about it now?" I later received a perfunctory email saying the incident was a matter of mistaken address and they were "sorry for any inconvenience this caused you, as he may have used the wrong entry." There wasn't any mention of the inappropriateness of the driver's actions in entering our home without announcing he was there or the fact that he wouldn't leave when asked. It cost us $540 to replace the lock, which we did because our keys are kept in the foyer where the intruder was alone for an undetermined time. We asked MacLure's to reimburse us for the expense since that was the "inconvenience" caused by their employee illegally entering our home. That email has gone unanswered for several weeks now, like the initial few. It seems that Cheryl Johnston is hoping that by ignoring us, we will go away, which at this point we will do because it's fruitless to deal with someone who won't do her job. But that doesn't mean this incident never happened. It did, we filed a police report and now I'm writing an on-line review so other people can decide if they want to use a company that doesn't take safety incidents like this seriously. read more
