Took the MacLure's Cab from the airport. I totally forgot that there is a $4 surcharge when leaving the airport. I used to live in Vancouver and it was a fixed rate. It works out about $15 cheaper if I took an Uber instead. The cab driver did help with the luggage. The taxi felt old and the seats were somewhat cold. read more

I don't know what's happening with MacLure's cabs lately. My previous review raved about the always excellent service and I had no complaints. I have since had 3 unpleasant experiences with hostile drivers who seem to hate their jobs - and their customers. Surly and rude. I make every effort to be gracious and friendly to the drivers. I don't give them any reason to be rude to me and yet they are from the get-go. Because of my exclusive use of MacLure's in the past I thought the company might appreciate some customer feedback on these experiences, thinking it was possibly just an anomaly that I got these unfriendly drivers lately. I wrote an extensive email about my unhappy experiences, including the name of at least one of these surly drivers, and have had no reply from MacLure's. How do you not even respond to a customer's feedback? I didn't ask for anything, I wasn't rude, and I actually thought I was doing them a favour by bringing their drivers' unsatisfactory service to their attention. But nope, not a word. So I will no longer call MacLure's because I don't need another surly, unpleasant driver who stares off into the distance when I greet him with a friendly hello, refuses to go the route I request and insults me into the bargain. For all the companies that pay work safe thousands of dollars a year take notes. For your unfortunate employee's requiring a work safe cab account do not use this company. Just one driver and there is more who 100 percent of the time take the longest route possible to get as much money for the trip as possible. I took a ride with my family from the aquarium to my hotel. We returned the almost the same way as we came. I was charged $10.56 from yellow cab on my way to the aquarium and tracked the route. Then I used this one to get back and only had minor differences in route and they wanted $16.98. I will not use them again. read more

Phoned at 11:30am to book a cab for 7:45 when I finished worK. Waited outside in the pouring rain till 7:50 and called MacLure's and the dispatch tells me they have no cabs in the area and I might be waiting for an hour or longer they have no idea. WFT! My BIL was picked up from a bar in downtown Vancouver last night, agreed upon a fare rate to Langley, paid that initial $100. He fell asleep in the cab and he woke him up when he arrived at the house as I was getting home from work. The driver made him pay a second time, this time $140. When we called the company and asked why he was double charged they claim they dropped him off at a house party first. There was no house party, they picked him up at a bar and dropped him off at our house. The shady cab driver took advantage of a drunk foreigner scammed him. I was dropping a patient off at surrey hospital when he messaged me that he was leaving in a cab and we showed up at the house at the same time. No time for house parties, I certainly wasn't having one after a 12 hour shift on ambulance. These drivers are shady, gross scammers. Stay away. read more

Horrible experience with this company. A cab driver asked me if I needed a ride and I asked him how much it would be (because often times they won't run the meter and instead will try to up charge you.) He told me it would be $40 for a 10 minute ride. Uber was $18 so I called that instead. He got out of his car and started screaming at me, calling me names and ended up spitting in my face when I told him to leave me alone. Some of his other coworkers got out of their cabs and surrounded me, trying to convince me to pay $20 for "wasting his time" even though I did not get a ride from him. Not to mention this was at 2:00AM and I was alone just trying to get home safe. Please avoid this company at all costs, it is not worth it. Any info on this guy would be greatly appreciated, I froze out of fear in the moment so wasn't able to get his name or license plate number but will be pressing charges once police are able to track him down. read more

I flagged down a MacLure Cab in January and have been calling them since. They've always been helpful and patient, their booking system is great as they send you a text notification. They always call when they are near. I had to review today as I needed to jump start my car as I was on a conference call with radio on... thus my misfortune. They jump start your car for $20!!! I purchased insurance for this service and it was a non deductible $38 each time. Easy peasy decision. read more

I requested a cab to the airport from my downtown hotel. The concierge told me they would request me by name and to go stand outside. A cab pulled up outside and the driver went to put my bags in the back, as another cab pulls up and honks at him. I suspect at this point that my cab #68 is trying to steal me from the Yellow Cab. The two taxi drivers proceed to shout at each other in another language, failing to address me AT ALL during this time. They almost got into a fight over my bags. This all could have been avoided if the other cab driver addressed me by name, but no, I was just a pawn. I wish I had gone with neither one of them after the scene they caused. Downright rude, unprofessional and made me concerned for my safety quite frankly. Then, he had to actually turn around after a few minutes because he realized he dropped his phone outside the hotel. The McClure cab driver apologized to me once I arrived to the airport saying the other guy was "crazy". Um, no, you both are mental. I'm not stupid. What you did was wrong and underhanded; and you directly contributed to the circus, clown. What a terrible experience. Can't wait for Uber to get to this city. read more

Changed my opinion of taxi cabs. The dispatcher was quick to answer the phone, easy to understand and accurate with their arrival time. The driver parked around the corner to get to my house quicker with traffic out front. He ran down the road to pickup my luggage as I was going to the airport. The inside of his wheelchair van was clean and smelt fresh. He was friendly to chat and point out a few landmarks on the way that I hadn't scene being we drove mainly local residential roads. The rate seemed fair compared to an Uber for a similar ride. read more

After not getting through to Blacktop on the phone or Yellow via the App, I flagged car M78 down on Davie street. I was in front of the Independent Grocery store And had many heavy bags of food and beverages. He rudely told me to "Hurry up" he didn't open the trunk for me so I had to bring all my heavy bags into the back seat. The cab smelled strongly of food which was vey unpleasant, and he was taking loudly on phone the entire time. I don't mind if someone's on the phone, but keep the conversation at a low level. When we got to my destination, he was upset I wanted to use debit "Don't you have cash ?! " No, I didn't have anything besides my debit card. He didn't thank me, and when I thanked him,he ignored me, and didn't offer to help me with the heavy bags. This is why I stick to Blacktop & Checker cabs! read more

I first called Yellow Cab. Sat on hold, then a voice said "Yellow Cab" and that was it. Back to the canned music. Waited a few more minute, then hung up and dialed, again. Listened, once more, to the very strange-sounding, computerised, robotic message. Then a gruff voice came on, swearing and obviously yelling at somebody at his end. I said "hello" a few times and he finally grunted something I couldn't understand. I said, "Is this yellow cab?". He answered, very gruffly and mad sounding, that it was. He yelled something else at me that I could not understand and I thought, why am I giving these people my business. So, I hung up and called MacLure's. What a difference!! Very, very nice gentleman on the other end and the taxi driver was so pleasant and polite. Had the radio subdued (on CBC) and didn't spend time on his phone every time the car was not moving. I told him that the dispatch was really nice and he agreed; said they were a really good bunch of people. THIS is who I will be calling, in the future. read more

After a particularly interesting night that turned into a particularly interesting morning on the beaches of somewhere in Vancouver, my friend and I realized that we needed to get home! Not entirely sure where we were, we thanked heavens for the congenial cab driver who dropped us off in earlier that night. He was kind enough to give us a card of his and told us to call as soon as we needed out. My friend and I are both relatively new to Vancouver so this lovely gesture did not go unnoticed as neither of us could possibly remember a cab number. MacLure's taxi service is the only one in the city that has ever made the move to offer me a card and offer their future services without having to ask. To me, this is a sign of a good company! The driver of both cabs, there and back, was very friendly and respectful and neither of them made a move to fleece us, the new-to-Vancouver, customers, which is more than I can say for other taxi companies in the city.... read more

On the morning of pickup, the minivan taxi was waiting right outside by 5:55 a.m. Got to the airport in a jiffy with no drama whatsoever. After a weekend of walking all over Vancouver, we decided we didn't want to walk from our hotel to the train station at 5:30AM. Don't get me wrong it wasn't that far but juggling baggage in the dark is not my idea of a good time. I called the night before and made arrangements for a 5:30AM pick up. At about 5:20AM we stepped out of the room and shut the door behind us walked down the stairs, just as the cab was pulling up. One of the soul reasons I picked this cab company over the others is the quick tip that said. When you can call mom, when mom's not available call MacLure's. "I'm sorry" she says, "we don't have anything available." "But I made a reservation" "Well, we're very busy". A couple of experiences with this company, the first was okay - driver did take a while to arrive. The second we gave up and found another cab after waiting 15 minutes and being on hold for 5 trying to get an update. Past Saturday evening (August 20) at about 10:30PM, MacLures taxi M 75 almost hit me at Burrard and Davie Street intersection while I was walking in crosswalk. Taxi driver did not slow down and rather increased speed to turn left on to Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver. Window of taxi was open and I shouted 'idiot' to the male driver who gave me the finger out the taxi window. Surprisingly one of the few taxi services that's pet friendly, just remember to mention it while booking your cab.

Was really worried once I arrived in Vancouver and realized Lyft and Uber didn't operate, and that all the cab companies had such horrible reviews and ratings online and in Yelp. I picked MacLures due to higher ratings and was so glad I did! I called about an hour and a half ahead of time on a Saturday evening and was told they don't pre-schedule on Saturdays after 3pm, but to call back 15-20 min before I needed a cab. I did, and the driver arrived promptly. He was friendly and turned on the A/C for us. We also called to get a pick up later in the evening and they arrived again within about 15 min. read more

Fast service. My only complaint (albeit significant) about this cab service is that they lie about either not taking credit card, or that their credit card reader's malfunctioning. I sense a pattern: I've inconvenienced you by making you stop to pick me up. And then I've inconvenienced you further by paying by credit card. So you roll your eyes. Or you tell me at the beginning of the trip, that you can't take me because I don't have cash. Or you keep the meter running while you fumble for your POS terminal. Or you ooze discontent all over our usually short rides together. But the worst was the time that you #12 hit my car, while I screamed to stop from the sidewalk and then drove off as I attempted to stop you to exchange information. Don't think I've forgotten you #12. Yes, you have all been different cab drivers over the span of 5 years (since I've been tracking this pattern) but you've shared a common thread - you seem to really loathe your job, or maybe you just really don't like me. And just by having some of the biggest jerk drivers you've made another very happy.... With Yellow Cab, I have had a mix of great experiences, mixed with average, sprinkled with some doozy bad ones. Which, based on my almost always predictably poor, personality devoid, uncaring interactions with MacLure's means I pick Yellow Cab over you every time there's a choice. I hate cabs. If I could, I'd walk/bus/drive before I grab a cab. Alas, that's not always the case and unfortunately in Vancouver, pickin's are slim. MacLure's, you either have an old guy out there who killed a cabbie and took his place, or you just have an old guy out there who should not be driving. 1) No seatbelt. He let his %)(@#% no-seatbelt signal go for the entire car ride. 2) No clue. Told him the address, told him the directions (go straight until this street, turn right, stop.) and yet, he managed to take wrong turns (with me freaking out in the background). 3) SO INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AND I SWEAR WE ALMOST GOT T-BONED. In his inability to follow directions, he decided to turn left ... while cars were still speeding by. He failed to actually stop at a stop sign. He sped up at yellow lights, but coasted between intersections. For the love of Mary, can somebody please get him off the road? There was NO driver's ID in the cab for me to identify either. SO. NOT. When I looked up taxi services to YVR using yelp, I was shocked to see that all of the existing taxi services on yelp scored poorly. I suspect that's because people tend to leave reviews if they have had a very bad experience with a taxi. So the handful of very positive reviews for this company really helped me to pick it in the end, and the service was excellent! I used MacLure's website to book the taxi service to drive me and my friend from our condo in downtown to the airport on Monday morning, at 4am, and left our buzzer code as an additional note. At 3:55am the taxi driver buzzed us from downstairs. The driver was courteous and didn't exhibit any of the odd behaviors mentioned in the very bad reviews. The ride was $31 if I remember it correctly. - No traffic in the early morning. Definitely going to use their service again when needed. One tip: If you are traveling to the airport when the SkyTrain's running, take the SkyTrain. It's cheaper and doesn't get stuck in traffic. Also remember: "After 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day Saturday, Sunday and Holidays, discount fares apply and purchasing a one-zone ticket will allow you to travel through all zones." read more

I literally take cabs every where I go. I hate taking cabs now because of all the terrible cab experiences I have had with yellow cab & black tops. The drivers are sooooooo rude and mean. I legit walk everywhere now because I don't know want to give any of these loser cab drivers business. After grocery shopping at Costco , I had no Choice but to call a cab. So I decided to call maclures because this is the only cab company out of all the other cab company's in Vancouver that has nice drivers. UNTIL TODAY HAPPEND.. The cab driver got there fast, which was great. He didn't even bother helping me with all my groceries which was so mean. I literally live less than 3 minutes from Costco. I told him what way I wanted to go and he did not want to listen to me, he on purpose went the Longest possible way . The cab came to $20 when it was a $6 cab ride. I could not even believe it. Hailed: YVR Airport Domestic arrivals When: February 5, 2013 around 5pm I was going from YVR to Richmond Centre Mall and on the way to my destination we got caught in traffic on No.3 Rd. Right before Westminster HWY the cab driver turned to me and asked, "do you want me to go down No3 rd?" I saw that there was a lot of traffic to I told him that he could make a right turn on Westminster Hwy and drop me off on the otherwise of the mall at The Bay if he wanted. The cab driver turned right onto Westminster HWY and stopped in the right lane at a pedestrian cross walk and told me to get out and walk over to The Bay in the rain. I was appalled but didn't argue because i was intimidated by his aggressiveness. I then told him that I needed to pay with my corporate credit card and his reaction was to let out a huge annoyed sigh and under his breath say "oh my...". He had to pull into the london drugs parking lot to process my payment, he passed me a binder and flicked the receipt at me. I signed the receipt and decided not to leave a tip for the reasons above and walked to the bay in the rain. I decided to call Maclures dispatch to speak to a Manager and was received negatively by the dispatcher when he found out I was calling to log a complaint. He couldn't transfer me to the manager so I called into a separate number to leave my message. I told the voice mail that I received poor customer service from a cab driver and as he was at the airport picking up potential visitors from out of town, he could potentially ruining Vancouver's hospitality image.I asked him to phone me back. I received a call back from the Manager today who advised me that he will look into this issue and hope to improve the service. I hope none of you will encouter this poor experience. read more
