Deep Fried Cheesecake. AMAZING!!! We stop at Macky's every time we go through Payson. Highly Recommend!

Husband and I came up to avoid the extreme heat warnings in Phoenix. The reviews for this place were accurate! Really good burgers and the fries were perfect. Staff was friendly. Creative topping options; solid flavor. If you are looking for a good basic burger, this may not be your place. But if you want avocado, bacon, bbq sauce, shoe string fries, and other creative toppings you will enjoy your meal. The meat itself was served medium, although ordered medium rare, and was so perfectly round and pressed I don't think they patty the ground beef in house. But with all those toppings the meat isn't the highlight and it was a satisfying meal. I loved the fresh strawberries crushed in my giant glass of strawberry lemonade and the staff was friendly. It was a pleasant and unexpected find on the way back to Phoenix after visiting the national parks. read more

Great food! The burger was so juicy and filling. The patio allows dogs which is great after finishing a hike with my pup! Also, they brought out a dog bowl full of water for him. The server made sure to continually come out and check out and it's nice that sitting outside didn't make us feel "forgotten" like can sometimes happen when on the patio. I'll start of by saying the food is good. The service was terrible. We got seated right away the hostess took our drink order came back with them said our waitress would be here shortly. Well 15 min later no waitress. Seen many walk by none stopped. Had to get up and ask for one. A nice lady came over took our ordain she wasn't our waitress but will get our order in. 20 min later still no waitress or food. We decided to try out a new spot on our way through Payson and checked in with Yelp. Macky's is one of the highest rated and right off of the 87, so we figured we'd give it a try. I have to say, Macky's earned my five stars. I had probably one of the best burgers I've ever had with the Curley Joe burger, which our server recommended! That was the cheapest, most bland, tasting food I'd ever had. Way to expensive for fast food quality. Will not eat there again.

First time visiting and was greeted by the owner, with all the staff being very friendly and the service was quick but with no pressure. We arrived in time for lunch and both picked off the sandwich menu. Mine came with a hearty beef barley vegetable soup; everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. I'll be honest -- whenever we go into Payson or Pine, we stop at the Chili's next door. It's a favorite staple of ours and we eat it in the valley all the time. But this time, we decided to try out the locals! We looked at the yelp reviews before going, and it looked good enough to try. It's right next to Chili's and the movie theater. We both had burgers and they were delicious. My boyfriend had the Oooey Gooey burger and it lived up to its name! If you like cheese, you should try it. My burger was good as well. The fries were soooo good, too. Great service and it was clean. Also loved how they were playing country music. Gave the whole place a nice feel. Next time we come back, we're bringing the bf's parents because we loved it so much! Great prices, too. Came to $21 for two burgers and 2 drinks for the both of us. Very friendly and accommodating service. Decent food. For me it was too salty, but you could do much worse in Payon.

This place was great!! Driving through az at almost 9 pm... Not a lot of options out there you have to take what you can get. But we were pleasantly surprised; mackys had good (big!) beers, a lovely patio to enjoy the arizona summer night and our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. She recommended some dishes that were really tasty. We had a Philly and a cowboy melt, both heavy but really good. The fries are also worth mentioning--crispy and nicely seasoned. All in all we're glad we took a chance walking past the chili's to this smaller place! read more

The food is always fresh and service friendly. They have many different styles of burger, and I like that they will substitute the garden burger-which is the best veggie burger I have ever had- for any style burger. I love the verde burger (has green chilis on it). Their veggie burgers are not of the frozen variety, and seem to be made fresh on site. You must try their freshly made churros, which are custard filled. We went just for the churros once, and it took 20 minutes for the order because they prepared them fresh! It is always worth the wait.In the summer they serve their white wine in chilled glasses, which is a nice touch. The patio is nice in the summer. They--naturally-- play country music, which I normally can't stand, but the food is so good that I tolerate (and even half-way enjoy) the country music. That is saying a lot. Definitely worth a try if you are in the Payson area or passing through! read more

if i go to a new restaurant i always try something basic like french fries or a hot turkey sandwich. i tried the french fries they were the worse oily and cold. i was with a large group 8 people so i just left them without touching them to see if the waitress would ask me how they were. did'nt even ask if every thing was kk . will never go back terrible food. read more

This place had a nice patio where we were allowed to bring our Cavalier King Chas dog. They brought her water. It was spacious, so we didn't feel like our dog was a bother to anyone. The food was pretty good. Veg barley soup was very good. Service was good. read more

We love this place! My husband makes a point to stop here every time he goes up that way for work. He usually gets the 1/4 lb Anaheim chili burger and raves about it...I prefer the curly burger (with BBQ sauce, huge slices of bacon, and fresh onion strings). Both are $7.95 and come with choice of fries, coleslaw, and I think pasta salad. Burgers are not huge but plenty big to fill us up. The fries are the very crispy, almost batter fried kind. Yum yum yum! The waitresses are hit and miss...last time we had a young girl with brown hair (maybe named Beth?) and she was friendly, efficient, and helpful. There's a blonde gal that works there that isn't so friendly...maybe she just had a bad day last time we saw her? Either way the food is great so we don't care too much. You definitely need to give this place a try! read more

Waitress was much more involved with her social life than with her customers. Had to ask twice for salad dressing. The wait for a cold sandwich and a salad was over half an hour. A couple who ordered at least fifteen minutes after us was served at the same time, so we figured the waitress spent time chatting with her friend in a booth behind us before putting our order in. Delicious food. I got a cup of their chili to start. Then I ate the turkey pepper jack melt with sweet potato fries. Very good! Dessert we tried the almond joy pie, oh that was sinful! Now let's get into why I only gave this restaurant just 3 stars. Our waitress never introduced herself, she came over and said "ready to order" came out with the food and instead of going behind me to place my husbands lunch in front of him she reaches in front of me! WHAT was that?! Then never asked if we needed anything. Never came back to ask how everything was. She did ask if we saved room for dessert. (Clapping hands) she then dropped off the bill, she just placed it on the table. Never said she was the cashier or how to pay this bill. Just very bad service from Kortney. Comfortable local place with really good food. Menu has a wide variety of burgers, salads and sandwiches. Good for vegetarians, too.

I had heard this was the place to go in town but I was wrong. I ordered ribs and a baked potato on a slow Monday night. My baked potato had too much butter and sour cream to eat. I ribs came in two pieces, one of which was very delicious however, the second piece did not even have rib bones in it. Only chunks of hard fat. Will look at other options next time we are in town. On a lighter note the cornbread and crushed ice in the soda were nice touches. read more

Our whole meal was a nightmare. The restaurant was pretty empty and it took 10 minutes to get our drinks. There were only 3 people in our party and we all ordered hamburgers. It took 45 minutes to get our food and when it came it was cold. It had been sitting for at least 30 mins. We told the waitress who was nice and said they would remake it and offered us free appetizers and dessert. At that point we just wanted our food. The burgers came out again in 5 mins and were hot (why it took 45 mins before who knows) and were good tasting. The waitress told us that after reviewing the food our whole bill was going to be comped. When we received our check only a 25% discount was taken. I don't mind the 25% discount but we shouldn't have been lied to about having a free bill. Maybe they were having an off day but we will never be back. I am really not sure why it is so popular and it scares me about what the rest of Payson has to offer if this is supposed to be the best place. read more

The food here is very good, we went with the kids and had various kinds of burgers. They were all delicious. The server however was very rude and did not seem to want to be there she kept making these veiled sarcastic comments throughout the meal, it was enough to stop us wanting to go back again and the reason for only three stars, If you don't mind rude servers you will at least enjoy good food here. read more

Macky's used to be a great place for sandwiches. Now the quality is not there. Our recent experience was poor. The Reuben sandwich that I ordered lack cheese, the thin slice of meat was sub-par. Plenty of sauerkraut to drown out the lack of substance. The turkey sandwich was okay, yet the meat was of low quality. For what you pay for a sandwich at Macky's I would recommend Chilis or some other place. read more

After reading the reviews thought this would be s good stop for lunch. Wow not what I expected. They put us in a far corner booth, took our order and then our server vanished. After waiting for 30 minutes a and seeing other customers getting their orders we had to go to the hostess and find out what was going on. Wasn't a big order, 3 hamburgers and a kids meal. Was very apologetic and gave us 25% off our bill. Food was average. Nothing to write home about. read more

Went there with my wife on a Saturday afternoon. The service was acceptable, but not great. One waitress was lovely, but the others wished they were elsewhere and had the personality of a paper bag. The food was ghastly. I had a Reuben in which there was some sort of mystery meat, thinly shaved and clearly out of a packet, not made fresh. The Cole slaw was also definitely out of a box and not home made. My iced tea was okay, though. The wife ordered wings and potato skins. We were told the wings would take some time to prepare, perhaps up to 20 minutes. What??? If you're going to cook those puppies for 20 minutes, they're going to be like jerky when they arrive. We opted to forgo the wings. The potato skins were absolutely devoid of any flavor whatsoever, including the bacon and cheese they used. Tasted like cardboard. Also must have come out of a frozen pack of some kind. Popular with the locals, but not my cup of tea. read more
