Located in rural Warren County, the name should be changed to Mackey's Farm. Where are the orchards. I looked and walked around the grounds hoping but no cigar. Let's ask the staff. Two said the orchards were not available, yet the sign said otherwise. I asked another staff member where the center of town was? All I got was a shrug of the shoulders. Nonexistent customer service. I was looking forward to trying this place as I've driven by it numerous times. Two women were working there and couldn't even be bothered to greet me when I entered nor when I was walking around. Huge turnoff. They charge almost a 4% fee for using a card--ridiculous. I bought their Apple cider donuts--literally THE WORST I've ever had in my life. Absolutely no flavor and they didn't have the usual cinnamon sugar on top. Very disappointing experience. read more

Today's annual trip was awful! The prices for apple picking are outrageous and then a charge to ride the wagon to the orchard being additional is crazy. Is walking an option? We had ice cream afterwards and paid cash, with the sign indicating there was a discount to do so.. credit is an almost a 4 percent surcharge! Crazy right? It gets better. I went inside for a gallon of apple cider to the tune of 10.99 and said I said wow this is crazy! I got a response from the clerk stating "that how it is considering who's in office" I laughed and said does that mean your price gouging will change if Trump is elected? She stood speechless. Decided to stop for apples after Learning Easton Farmers market closed. Arrived and found it bustling with people. We thought must have great products. Went in and looked at their apple selection and found a few apples. They apples seemed over priced considering we purchase twice the amount foe 2/3 the cost. The pastries looked good and everyone was purchasing them. Looks as if they should be called a bakery and not an orchard. So the biggest disappointment as we found two bad apples in the bag. One completely rotten and the other partially. Do they go over their apples to see if they are bad? Ice cream prices have gone THROUGH THE ROOF. Over $7.00 for a small Razzle and a service charge for using a credit card. Too, too much! The ice cream here is outrageously good. There's really no competition. We'll never go to Dairy Queen again. My parents got me an ice cream cake from here for my birthday last year, and we were amazed. It was bigger, much tastier, and somehow cheaper than what we'd get at Dairy Queen. They also custom make it, allowing you choose two ice cream flavors, colors, etc. Since then, we've been back for ice cream about five times, and have been equally impressed each time. They have a ton of flavors and toppings, and a rotating flavor of the month that's made from fruit they grow. The pumpkin ice cream they offer during October is out of this world. The only downside is that they're not open in the winter! This place also gets a lot of visitors from the city, and it's funny to watch them try to blend in on a farm. read more

I mean, it's apple picking, right? I guess this is a big east coast thing. I actually had fun among the bickering of my nieces and trying to find the apples we wanted after a VERY long explanation for the man who was running the thing...They need signs or something. I just went along and picked an apple and just ate it to see if I liked it. It's really pretty up there and I had a good time with family. I wanted to get the sheep nose apple (aka banana apple) and once we found it, and I tried it...it was disappointing. :( The ride up to the orchards was interesting. If they didn't litter the sides of the road to go up in that tractor/hayride, then it would be less...ratchet looking. Also, don't sit right behind the tractor unless you want a face full of exhaust. Oh, and wear closed toe shoes, you'll look like an idiot wearing flip flops (I was not the idiot lol) Their cider is pretty tasty but their cider doughnuts are not. We got ice cream after and it was pretty good! I got the apple pie and it tasted...just like apple pie but it was pretty dang sweet. read more

My family and I love this farm! The property is cute and well maintained. They have a good rotation of fruits and veggies, and a big bakery section with beautiful cookies, pies, etc. they get really busy on fall weekends with events, so we try to go on weekdays to avoid crowds. read more

This has become a tradition fall activity for us. Mackey's has a hayride up to the orchard where you can pick your own apples. You will ride in a rickety wagon lined with hay while a tractor that has seen better days spews exhaust fumes into the air and the people in the wagon all the while singing "I think I can" to itself. Once at the top of the mountain you will reach the orchard. The view is amazing. Once you hop off the wagon you will hear some instructions from one of the farmhands and your off. Bring bug spray, the bugs are pretty active. The trees all look alike and are unlabeled, the apples can be pretty picked over depending on when you go so we suggest getting the smaller bag. Once back at the farm stand you can check out the shop. The apple cider donuts are fantastic and worth the trip all by themselves. We always have some pumpkin ice cream to cap off a great trip. Mackey's can get pretty busy on a nice fall day so be prepared, also the orchard area does not offer a lot in the way of shade. enjoy read more

I visited Mackey's yesterday with my two siblings, brother-in-law, nieces (6 & 7 years old) and nephew (2 years old). We had a great apple picking experience. We checked in at the register to buy our hay ride tickets and Apple bags. Mackey's offers 3 sized bags to choose from instead of charging you for a weighted amount after picking. They also offer delicious baked goods, Apple cider, fresh veggies, fruit, mums, pumpkins, and other items for sale at a reasonable price. The line for the ice cream stand was long. So, we skipped ice cream this time around. Mackey's has a large playground available for the kids to play while we waited for the hayride up to the Apple orchard. The kids really enjoyed to hayride "up the mountain" (ahem...hill) to the Apple orchard. The guide at the orchard told us they offer 110 varieties of apples and was helpful pointing out the different varieties that were available. We were able to pick up some of our favorites- Macintosh, Honey Crisp, Wine Sap and Red Delicious. Overall, I felt this outing was a great value and everyone had a wonderful time. read more

My husband and I stopped here this weekend for the 3rd year in a row, after cutting down our Christmas tree at Wycoff's (LOVE them!). Unfortunately, due to their cashier, this year may be our last. We have only purchased a pie and donuts there in the past, which were delicious according to my husband. In prior years, we've arrived at Mackey's much later in the day, when they were either empty or there were not many bakery items remaining. This year they were quite busy. My husband ordered a slice of tea cake and one of pumpkin cheesecake and I purchased a coffee and several small Pink Lady apples. The tea cake and cheesecake were pretty bad. Maybe it's because I'm used to high-quality bakery items (shout out to Leli's in Astoria and Millie Feuille), but these cakes tasted like bad grocery store pastries. The pink lady apples were okay, but my fruit stand sells much better for .10 more per lb. Coffee was what you would expect (not good, not terrible). My husband asked for a fork to sample a few bites of the cakes before the long drive home. They were out of forks (not a huge deal) and gave us 2 spoons instead. The cashier then gave us a plastic bag for the apples. I asked for a separate one for the pastries (we often have to walk several blocks from parking spot to apartment) so I could ensure I was able to carry everything. ...The cashier refused my plastic bag request, saying the pastries would roll around and get smushed (it seems, then, there is a problem with their to-go containers and perhaps they need varying sizes, but I digress). I politely said I knew how to carry the pastries so they would not be messed up and repeated my request for a plastic bag for each item. She then takes the bag of apples out of the plastic bag with handles, and puts in the pastries. No. I asked you for 2 plastic bags with handles. So I can carry everything home while my husband deals with our 6 ft. tree. She flat out refuses my request and moves on to help another customer. I had to ask her colleague for a plastic bag. The second cashier stated he didn't know what was going on, so I filled him on on his rude, plastic-bag-request-denying colleague. While doing so, rude cashier then said "Drop it. We don't do that here." You don't do what here? Give plastic bags upon request to paying customers (we spent $12)? The male cashier graciously offered me my second plastic bag and we went on our way. We may stop by again to give it one more chance.. it's just a shame when owners hire short-sighted employees who don't understand customer service. You saved .05 on a plastic bag, but cost much more in my repeat business. read more

We went here for apple picking last weekend. How it works is you purchase a bag for apple picking and you purchase a required ticket for the hayride to get to the orchard--you are not allowed to walk through the property to the orchard. The hayride could have been nice and picturesque but instead it winds its way up the side of a mountain littered with debris of all sorts; cast off farm equipment, abandoned vehicles, a boat, scrap metal, air conditioners, etc. The hayride dumps you in the middle of a small orchard where you are greeted by a guy giving a barely audible vague overview of where variety of apples are located while simultaneously selling bottled water from a cooler to people interrupting his talk. The apples were not signposted--according to the guide the signs were washed away in the last rain storm! So we wandered around the orchard and picked random apples as his directions were so vague they were useless. The orchard itself was also surrounded by all sorts of junked vehicles and assorted debris against the backdrop of the Delaware Water Gap. Basically, you are apple picking in the middle of a junk yard. The bakeries were almost empty of product and there was not one apple cider donut to be found in the place! All-in-all this was a bit expensive and disappointing. There are other pick-your-own orchards nearby that offer a better value for money. read more

Picked up a whole load of pumpkins at $0.50 a pound to decorate our yard. Grabbed a few bags of apples at reasonable prices in addition to having some hot cider. Also picked up some baked good. The storefront also has hot foods as well as a home made ice cream stand. Everything was clean and dandy, left with about $100 worth of goods and the place was way more reasonable than that "really" popular pick your own up in Warwick, NY that price gouges their customer. We figured it was the perfect time since they are always posting how great their cherry picking is. Well, they told us we need to pick at least 6.5lbs minimum and they are only sour cherries. Wth. It was OK. I found it to be a very commercialized experience. There were mountains of people there, most had to park on a field across the street. To go apple picking you had to prepay for bags for the apples, which is tough if you don't know if you will find apples you want. Then you HAVE to pay for a hayride to the apples, you have no choice. Why they wouldn't just include it in the cost of the apples I don't know, but it felt dirty to me. Like they were holding the apple picking hostage. The hayride takes you up what would be a picturesque trail to the top of it weren't lined with abandoned cars and trash. When you reach to the top you're given a ten minute lecture on where all of the apples were, which everyone promptly forgot. Oh and we were told three times NOT to eat any of the apples, no tasting allowed. Never have I heard of such a thing at an orchard. When we came back down we went for ice cream. We tasted the pumpkin, it tasted like cheap mix, nothing fresh about that aftertaste. The cider was good, if a bit sweet for my taste. I prefer my cider a bit tart and not too filtered, but it is what it is. The kids who worked there were ok, everyone seemed polite, but the feeling was like I was just one in a few thousand visiting that day. We usually go apple picking once a year. The farm we usually go to is pretty far from my brother's house so we found Makey's Orchard online. I have to say we had a blast!. You have to take a tractor up the "mountain" to the orchard. We were worried about this because Grand mom has some trouble walking. Not a problem. The tractor had steps and two sturdy rails and the workers were very slow and helpful. There were so many trees and plenty of apples so she didn't have to walk far in the orchard. The tractor ride is $8 then you also pay for a bag. You can pick a 1/2 peck, 1 peck, or 1 bushel size bag. You can also do combinations so each person can have their own bag. We got four 1/2 peck bags. The bags held about 20 apples each. They also let you eat one apple in the orchard. The total for 5 of us was $30 but we had a 3 year old who was free. The old farm we used to go to was a lot more-- there we used to have to pay admission into the orchard and then paid by the lb. This was a much cheaper way. The farmers market had lots of fruits, veggies, and jams to buy. There is an ice cream shop with home made ice cream and every flavor you could think of. We also had homemade soup which was out of this world. There is also apple cider doughnuts and apple cider. Finally there was a little playground that the kids spent an hour out. Lots of kids and lots of fun. The only drawback is that the orchard is limited. You can only pick apples. Our old farm had a lot more to pick, i.e apples, peaches, beans, pears, tomatos, corn and others. So that was a bit of a disappointment but overall the experience was great! read more

We had a really great time on a recent weekend. Apple picking. It can get pricey. You can easily spend $30-$40 on an apple picking trip. But, you're in a well to do area (aka rich people) and an autumn hayride apple picking experience is obligatory. You won't spend a ton of time apple picking (less than half hour depending on how fast you go to fill the small-ish bag), but there's other activities - like a playground for kids, and a small store where they sell apple based products. You could spend maybe 1/2 day here then move onto something else. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here. Check out the baked goods in the store.
