Tons of TVs, but still clean and not grimy at all. Even the bathrooms were super clean, which I always notice. The food is good and the portions are huge. Everything leans a little pricey, even the kids meals, but you are absolutely getting your money's worth. The adult meals came with a straight up mountain of tots. I'm not exaggerating. Like... a pile. My son got the cheeseburger off the kids menu and it was honestly big for a kids meal. He was pumped. And $2 for a 22oz Coors Light all day? That's a win. Service has always been fine for us. Lots of younger girls working as waitresses and we've never had anyone rude or inattentive. Nothing over the top, just consistent and friendly. There are random pinball machines and games in the back which feels kind of unexpected but fun. It's a great spot to watch a game, bring the kids, or just hang out. Just know your bill might be a little higher than you expect, but you won't leave hungry that's for sure.

The bar area was pretty busy but it was 5pm on a Friday so it's expected after work crowd. The vibe was nice, music flowing, good energy. Busy but not over whelming or chaotic. We ordered at the bar and found a seat to wait. Food took a minute but again it was busy. I had chicken strips and fries. Order comes with 4 strips and steak cut fries. Pretty decent no complaints. My drink was Jameson and ginger ale. Glass is pretty small for the price. Overall good experience would return if in the area

However, I didn't try the food on that visit. This time, I decided to get the full experience. While the bar doesn't offer a happy hour or lunch specials, the menu is reasonably priced, so I can see why. That said, I was a bit surprised that my house margarita came out to $12. Service-wise, the experience was great. My bartender was super cool and attentive. For my meal, I ordered the house margarita and the Motor City Burger, which features a 1/2 lb. burger patty, 3 oz. of corned beef, and a mix of Swiss and American cheese. The standout for me was the corned beef--it absolutely carried the burger. Unfortunately, the patty itself lacked seasoning, which held the dish back a bit. Overall, I wouldn't count this spot out. It's still a great place to hang out and grab drinks, and I noticed a few other menu items that caught my eye for next time. Motor City Bar and Grill remains a solid spot to unwind with good drinks--I'm looking forward to trying more from their menu soon!

Originally a farmhouse, a basement was dug out in the early 1900s to create a bar. The ceiling is only six feet high, and is smaller than the average basement. During Prohibition, it operated as a speakeasy. In 1933, it became the first establishment in Macomb County to receive a liquor license. From that point on, it officially went by Eastside Tavern. The tavern is now run by fourth-generation owner, Heather DeBruyn. No one has lived in the house since 2017, but "the basement bar" is alive and well. Since its opening, Eastside Tavern has featured a limited food menu. The burger is the most popular menu item, often hailed as one of the best in Macomb County. There are a few variations on the menu, all made with a half-pound patty. The bologna sandwich is another popular item. My personal favorite is the quesadilla. All sandwiches come with a basket of chips, and pepperoncinis are available upon request. The chip and pepperoncini combo is jokingly referred to as a "salad bar." The history and vibes make Eastside Tavern one of a kind. Live music takes place every Saturday, and raffles are occasionally held on Wednesdays. When you go, be sure to ask to see the apron.
