Not only were a couple of booths literally just actual trash, while I was standing there wanting to potentially buy something in a case, he and another person started loudly complaining about Democrats "stealing their money" and "giving it to *other* people." I've suspected the owner was probably conservative before that, but never cared to confirm it. Today's tirade, though, is something I can't overlook. I was extremely uncomfortable with the hostility. So I left, and won't be back. I'm sure some conservatives may get a kick out of this, but shouldn't they be wanting a liberal to buy an American flag? I won't be back. Even if this has been an anti-conservative tirade, I would have been put off. I was there to destress from the political dumpster fire we're in, not to be subject to political b*tching so loud so suddenly that it's hard to imagine it wasn't on purpose. I'm done with them. The decline in item quality was already enough. This sealed it.

Inside the shop, everything is actually what you think of when you think "antique." Sometimes I feel that the places I try to shop for vintage/antique items are too polished now. I love the almost museum-like feeling of a shop that is crowded and full from floor to ceiling with treasures to be uncovered. The merchandise itself is VERY fairly priced. I found several beautiful pieces of jewelry for just a couple bucks each (a broach and two strands of fake pearls) and the higher quality jewelry available for purchase (i.e. real stones and pure metals) were also incredibly reasonable. I was blown away, actually, by the pricing. I have found that the thrift/vintage stores in downtown Portland are willing to gouge prices and are barely worth the work sometimes. This was NOT the case here, and I highly recommend you make the drive-- the bang-for-your-buck pays off. The person at the checkout was very friendly. She greeted us when we entered (and greeted every person who entered the store), was sweet and chatty during checkout, and didn't lose her cool even when a rowdy bunch of kids and a couple with a barkey dog were running around. I told my friend all I really wanted was a small box or dish for my nightstand that I could put my promise ring in. I am notorious for losing items and I definitely don't want to misplace a piece as important as my promise ring. We searched around the whole shop, which by the way is GORGEOUS, and didn't find anything like I was picturing. Just as we were heading out my friend was looking at some earrings and I spotted this box. For $21 I was over the moon with this purchase. It is so timeless and unique it was instant happiness. The owners of the store were so kind as well! I can't lie, my friend and I looked like bums walking in with our sweatpants and messy hair, but they treated us so kindly and wrapped the box meticulously for my travels back home! There is a lot packed into this store...lots of vintage, antique and new/newer items on consignment...some stuff is from the 80's but a lot is older. They also have clothing as well. Not all the vendors do as nice of a job organizing their stuff in their booths as others, but if you like searching for treasures then you will certainly enjoying perusing the items here.
