Mach5 helped me check off my highest bucket list item - to get my private pilots license on 4/29/23. Thanks to Mach 5 I was able to get high marks from my FAA examiner. The operation is top notch from the office/operations management, aircraft maintenance, flight logistics and coordination, and instruction. I transferred from another flight school and instantly saw the Mach 5 difference and high standard. I was fortunate to get paired with David Wells who did a perfect job of helping me reach my full potential. I just had fun flying at Mach 5, David, and will continue to fly with Mach5 in the future. KAUN (Auburn Airport) location provides good vibes, valuable flight experience as it is located in the base of the foothills with access to the Sacramento valley, and up front views/access to various aircraft. There is a cafe and two breweries near by. The mechanics are amazing and provide great exposure to maintenance and repair being an open shop right next to the office. This helped with my understanding of the aircraft and its systems. The planes are very well maintained and it is very clear where each plane sits with regards to maintenance and repair. It is clear Mach 5 has the highest standards for instruction. There are numerous layers and checks within the process. I was required to complete thorough flight reviews and marks after each flight which are recorded in my file and reviewed by chief instructors. At various points in the training I had to fly with a chief instructor for sign off to the next stage. This greatly increased my confidence moving forward by having multiple people give you a green light prior to the next step. The way Mach 5 operates, David Wells taught, and all that flying out of Auburn provided made me a very confident and safe pilot as I move forward in my training. Thank you to the team at Mach 5! Their aircrafts are constantly "being repaired" and we ended up having to cancel the lesson When we canceled they charged us. They keep saying that they purchased more aircrafts and things will change. Not true! We are being ripped off! They keep talking about giving out scholarships but you hear no one receiving it. I love this Flight School!!!!!!! Ive been to most the schools in Norcal. I am super impressed with the team work here at Mach 5 aviation. I am one of the many talented flight instructors here at Mach 5. I see the behind the scenes action and this place runs like a well oiled machine!! The maintenance department is TOP NOTCH!!! The ladys up front are wonderful and really pleasant and organized. They have discounts on rentals (block rate) and really cool airplanes. Very well maintained.. high wings, low wings, tail draggers. Auburn has so many great aerial views. The green trees all around, the rolling hills, Auburn forest hill bridge, lake clementine waterfall, folsom lake, the mansion's near the lake, the high Sierra mountains always in view when airborne. I had tried two, dreadful, little schools, one at Sac Executive and one at McClellan, before being disgusted and frustrated, and driving up the hill to Auburn. From the minute I wandered into Mach 5, I knew that I had found the school where I wanted to take my primary flight training. They are a wonderful flight school. It is the perfect environment. My" first solo" T-shirt cutout now hangs on the wall, and I am getting close to making my check-ride to get my license. I absolutely love this place, and all the wonderful people. If you are thinking of learning to fly, you MUST check out Mach 5 Aviation. They are the place to go in Northern California, to learn to fly. If you are unsure, then try one of their discovery flights. Flying small airplanes is not for everyone, but you will never really know until you go up, and see for yourself. Ok listen up, THIS PLACE IS SPECTACULAR!!!!! I had been thinking for weeks about what I should do for my husbands birthday. He doesn't really like little Knick knack gifts and he isn't in to many things that I can afford. But then a friend of mine who has his pilot license from Mach 5 Aviation told me to look at what they offer online and I am not kidding you when I say that I made my husbands whole year (probably LIFE) from this one gift. I called to ask about the different options between a "Scenic Tour" and the "Intro To Flight". Right off the bat the lady on the phone was probably the most friendly, kind and attentive receptionist I have EVER encountered. She told me what each package included, helped me book the one I wanted and explained in GREAT detail what it was we would be doing so I knew exactly what I was paying for. Not only that but when I called about two weeks later to pay over the phone, she totally accommodated me and made it so easy!!!! I ended up choosing the "Intro To Flight" package which is where you take the controls of the plane and fly around. My husband has always wanted to be a pilot and to him, this would be a total dream come true. So on his birthday I drove him to the airfield and surprised him! We were greeted by the lovely, amazing receptionist and then immediately taken to a 'debriefing' room with our flight instructor. We grabbed our headsets and were off to the plane. The instructor thoroughly explained everything to us about safety and checking the plane before we even get in, showing us how to properly test every inch of the aircraft. He answered all our questions and then we got into our seats . My husband sat in front with our instructor and I sat in back. My husband and the flight instructor went through a checklist to make sure we were good to go and then we started driving towards the beginning of the Runway. As we were getting ready to take off the instructor allowed my husband to do the take off himself!!!!! Not only that but my hubby flew the plane to Folsom Lake and back having the controls the entire time! The flight instructor landed the plane (of course) since we have never flown a plane before but WOW was that INCREDIBLE!!!! For $149 we got to experience one of the most exhilarating and indescribable things in this world! My husband hasn't stopped talking about it since and all our friends and family are talking about booking their flights now too. You HAVE to try this! It is seriously the coolest thing you will ever do. And it doesn't hurt that my husband said this was his favorite gift/ birthday of all time THANK YOU MACH 5!!!! My husband started his private pilot's program at Mach 5 a few months back and he absolutely loves it. He has flown with a few of the instructors and he has nothing but praise for all of them. My husband's main instructor is Andrew and from what my husband tells me, Andrew has been amazing. Everyone at Mach 5 is very enthusiastic about flying! They have made it such a fun and enjoyable experience for my husband. Also, everyone has been very professional! I have been to almost all of my husband's flying lessons at Mach 5 and went up in the air with him and Andrew, and I have had such a blast every time! I can't imagine going to a different flight school other than Mach 5. Everyone I've met there has been nothing but enthusiastic and friendly and it's impossible to not be excited with them. I got into flying when I was younger and then had to stop due to school for a while. Coming back now and I'm so happy I did! My instructor has been very flexible with my time and I don't feel as if I'm falling behind though I can't be there as often as I'd like due to my work schedule. I just completed my Annual on my 1946 Ercoupe 415D. I also did an avionics upgrade: ripped out my old vacuum system (AI died and vacuum gauge never got into the green) and replaced with two uAvionix AV-30c's: an AI and DG (actually the same model but installed 2 units). Adam (the avionics guy) and Mike (the A&P) were both exceptional. I could not be happier with the quality of work. I also upgraded from my old Narco tube txpndr to a new Status so I now have both ADS B In and Out. Both were very attentive to my needs and desires. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and very professionally. In addition, Mike polished my bare aluminum hull and empennage--the plane hasn't been this shiny since it left the factory in 1946. Finally, Dan, the manager, and Mary (assistant manager?) were both wonderful. All emails were promptly returned. If I had to leave a written or voice mail message, I got a call back within a very reasonable time frame. I will be going to them for all my work in the future. Oh! And did I mention. the total cost was LESS than what was estimated? I'm based in Marysville (KMYV) so it's a quick and fun 20 minute flight to KAUN (in my 90 mph 'coupe). Thanks Mach5!!! read more

I have not met anyone associated with Mach 5 that has not been helpful and pleasant. Since 1996 I have either trained or rented with almost every FBO at Sacramento Executive, Lincoln and Auburn.
